Very glad we stopped in during our quick trip. The lump crab cake was as good as advertised. We were impressed with how much crab meat was actually in the cake. Other places we've tried skimp in the meat. We also tried the devil eggs which were a nice addition. They had a bit of a sweet and savory flavor profile that pulled through at the end of the bite. The Lexington Market area itself was a cool experience with many food options. The crab cake also came with a mini salad side that was refreshing.
Pretty good! Ordered deviled eggs and the lump crab cake. Probably one of the best scene cakes I've had. They're jumbo and don't disappoint on the lump and lump crab cake. Great flavor with a light crust in the outside. Deviled eggs were great too. Very creamy. More in the sweet side rather than tangy. I don't mind it though. It was good to switch it up from a traditional deviled egg. Most of the service was great. One employee was very kind while another one just didn't want to be there that day. Standing room only inside and seating outdoor area. I would recommend this place!
We stopped to eat here for Edgar Allen Poe Festival and I'm glad we picked this place to eat. Everything was delicious. One of the best crab cakes! The place is located right in Lexington Market.
Decent crab cakes but not the best in Baltimore by any stretch of the imagination. Koco's is the best, G&M is second, Jimmy's is third and Faidley's is fourth, so far.It's also not a sit down restaurant. For what you get it's pretty pricey. Good slaw though, finely shredded and great flavor.
Stayed nearby and heard that the Lexington market is the place to go. Was also recommended to come to Faidley's. The crab cake was sooo good. The crunchiness on the outside made it have so many layers of flavor. We tried the oysters too. They opened the oysters right in front of you. I asked how to eat it and got detailed instructions on how to eat oysters this way~ it was good as well. We were debating which soup to get. The nice lady gave us some samples so that we can taste them beforehand.
Being from LA, a few of my friends from the DMV were so serious about Faidley's Crab Cakes that they'd have them flown in for special occasions. Had my first taste about 15 years ago and hadn't had them since. Finally making it to the legendary Lexington Market to try them again was a genuinely special moment. The crab cake was incredible, fresh and loaded with lump crab meat the whole way through. The crab soup was great too. But it was the whole experience, the food, the history, the vibe of Lexington Market, that really made it.
The best crab cake in Baltimore. Bar none. Mac and cheese was well seasoned and delicious. I also enjoyed the deviled eggs. But seriously, get the crab cake, maybe two. They're perfect.
This was my second visit to Faidley's Seafood, with the first being more than 10 years ago. It's located inside Lexington Market, which is a Baltimore institution and part of the overall experience. We ordered two crab cake platters, and the crab cakes were every bit as good as we remembered--fresh, packed with crab, and definitely the reason to visit. The sides were good and complemented the meal well. We also tried the fried shrimp basket. It was fine, but if we came back, we'd skip it and order another crab cake instead. The crab cakes are clearly what Faidley's does best and are well worth trying. Overall, if you're visiting Baltimore and want to experience one of the city's most iconic foods, Faidley's is a great stop.
Quick service, but standing tables and counters only. The crab cake was full of crab, very little filling and not dry at all! The fries were a bit plain, but I did enjoy the mac and cheese. Overall, the food was good, but it was a bit pricey.
Finally got up Crab spot 3 while on the crab crawl and it wasn't bad. I'd say the Crabcake is 2nd on the list only because of the temperature and shell pieces. Service was great. The lady who took our order explained items and gave great recommendations. The ambiance was cool. Definitely keep in mind they have table tops and no chairs. There is seating outside on the patio. The market is very unique and I would come back and try the blue crab and other seafood.
This stop during my trip to Baltimore was well worth it. Went for the gold and ordered the Jumbo crab cake platter. Had G&M a few days ago which I thoroughly enjoyed, but this one may be my new favorite so far. I really wanted to try the raw oysters as well but I was too full for it, I may go back and try them before heading back home. I watched plenty of YouTube videos on Faidley's and I must say it was well worth the hype. The ladies working here were so sweet and helpful, they certainly enhanced the experience.
The soft shell crab sandwich hit the spot! I was craving seafood and I was surprised by the options. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich platter and chose pickled cucumbers and Mac & Cheese. The staff were patient and very kind since I have my kids with me. I felt very welcomed by the friendly Staff. The Natty Bo was prefer pairing with the sandwich. I love the atmosphere as it felt in I was stepping into history here! I loved all the photos and memorabilia. There is also a counter to order crabs to go as well!
Wow, the seafood here is absolutely incredible! In a small mall like building with lots of other restaurants. Tried the crabcake, catfish, shrimp, and fries. The crabcake was LEGIT and probably the best I've had in my life. That catfish was also worth the try and was very surprised by the taste of it, man, this place is great!! Whenever I'm back in Baltimore I'll be going back here cus wow!! The reason for the 4 stars was the customer service, I didn't like that there was a cashier that was very rude. I understand it's busy but also important to make customers feel good
I got the crab cakes here, both the jumbo lump and the backfin. While the backfin had more flavor, the jumbo lump had a more pleasing texture due to the bigger chunks. The backfin is cheaper, but also smaller-looking in volume. They also come sporadically from the oven, so the jumbo lump was lukewarm while the backfin was much more hot, so I'd try to ask if I could get a hot one next time. I made one of them into a platter, which allows you to get 2 sides. I picked the pickled beets and the coleslaw, which was both good and a welcome cleanser to the richness of the crab cakes. Out of the crab cakes I had in Baltimore (Thames and Rusty Scupper), these were my favorite. read more

What an experience! Short and sweet visit but I had an amazing time all on my own. The service was phenomenal. Something as simple as an employee covering my crab cake with a paper plate while I ordered at the raw bar went a long way. When I got here, I approached the counter and "I've never been here. What do you recommend?" Usually, this is such a loaded question. I don't like asking it for that reason. The woman assisting me gave me several options and just wanted to ensure that I had a great gastronomical experience and was immensely kind. The guy shuckin' oysters? Apparently he's been doing it for 50 years! He was super inviting and kind. Highly recommend. Side note- my beer? It was a delicious lager. However, the beer was not the star of the show this time (as it usually is). The food was. And I'd go back once more if I'm ever in the area. read more

Traveled here for business. This place is a "can't miss!" very casual ambience, located with a food market. The lump crabcake is absolutely to die for. A little bit expensive, but well worth it. lots of other seafood items on the menu. As well as some other things I won't be trying (raccoon, muskrat ). Service was quick, food was fresh. If I'm ever back in Baltimore, I will definitely return. read more
Hands down #1 crab cake in Maryland!! It's located inside the old Lexington market. Jumbo crab cake is the way to go. Lots of crab meat, they don't skimp out. It's perfectly seasoned and a good size crab cake as well. They only have standing tables -- It's not a fancy joint but I'll take Faidley's crab cake over any other place's at a heart beat!! Service is quick. Pro tip: you HAVE to get their oysters from the oyster bar next door. Get the large Chesapeake oysters. They are HUGE, super fresh, and not salty. Best oysters I've had in my life period. read more

In Baltimore for work so had to go find some crab cakes. The crab cake platter at Faidley's was out of this world! This is food made with love. The crab cake was perfect. Tender, flakey meat, melt in the mouth. Amazing! For my two sides I went Mac and cheese and collard greens. Both were fantastic! All in all one of the best meals since I started doing reviews on yelp. Service was great too. Big shout out to Faidley's. If its food tells you something about a city, then Baltimore has a gem downtown. read more
We purposely made a trip to Lexington Market and because of the great mentions of this restaurant I had to try their crab cake. I paid market price $24.99 plus tax for the crab cake. We also tried the catfish sandwich. The crab cake is a decent size with lump crab meat and minimal filler but it lacked flavor. Not one seasoning was tasted but I got an overwhelming taste of mustard. The catfish was very bland as well. Edible because I'm not going to waste food. The restaurant itself is standing tables only. You can get other seafood items there. The staff were pleasant. Parking available on the street or the nearby garages. read more

Someone has to explain the logic of having no chairs or stools in a restaurant. The Americans with Disabilities act says "Accessible seating must be provided at each table if it's readily achievable" I am a handicapped person and I had to find something to sit on so I could eat here. The place needs so much work, need a restroom, walk through a storage area, take an elevator upstairs to an attached building where there is no one around and you could be attacked very easily. Yes the food is great, very expensive but why must I struggle to have a place to sit. Very sad read more

Faidley's Seafood never disappoints! This is the second we visited Baltimore and going to Faidley's Seafood is always on our list! This is the best crabcake I have tasted so far! I am also a fan of their soft-shell crab sandwich! Plus, the service is very efficient! I got my food very quickly after I ordered! We sat outside of the patio to have our food! The atmosphere is very nice and clean too! Can't wait to come back! read more
We were the first ones here for lunch at 11 am. We ordered crab cakes, lobster bisque, clam chowder and fries for about $55. Food was good but there weren't any seats, only standing at the tables available. I could understand why there weren't any seats no seats, to prevent homeless people from lingering...and we saw a few hanging around the market. read more

Came in as a tourist from Texas looking for the best crab cakes Baltimore has to offer. The presentation was nothin special, and the price was a bit high at first glance, but happy to say I've had the best crab cakes of my life here thus far. Chunks of crab meat that tasted fresh, I would not even put your run of the mill crab cakes in the same food category of Faidley's. Ordered: Jumbo crab cake with cucumber salad and mac & cheese Would I Recommend to Try? Yes Would I Come Back? Very good crab cakes! I actually liked the steamed whole Maryland crabs with bay seasoning. The sides of Cole slaw and cucumbers with dill were amazing. The best thing on their menu was actually the fresh shucked Chesapeake Bay Oysters, they were huge and sweet. Hope you can come to Maryland to enjoy their seafood! Happy Yelping! read more

Amazing Crab cakes! I had the crabcakes, fried shrimp, and corn on the cob. It was delicious. I came in with high expectations for the crab cakes and it reached it. I thought I would need sauce on my crabcakes, but it was great as is. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth it. The fried shrimp and corn on the cob were also tasty. The service was also good, and the staff was friendly and helped me decide on what to get. The ambiance was also charming. read more
Okay first things first...don't come here thinking you're going to have a sit down meal. There are no chairs or stools, only high tables to stand and eat! On my last day in BMore in my quest for the best crab cakes, I've finally arrived at the most unassuming location! Found this spot off a Tictoc/reel on FB. My coworkers and I walked from the Inner Harbor Marriott by the Convention Ctr to Faidley's. The walk took us through the city with the locals! I loved it! Walked passed the Hippodrome where The Wiz is showing! You order at the counter, there are canned/bottled drinks; but sweet tea behind the counter. I ordered fried clams and a crab cake. The clams came out hot and fresh and the crab cake...my Gawd it was absolutely divine! I'm so happy we took that walk before heading back home. They are opening in the Lexington Market a few steps up, so I guess there will be seating soon. There's a Raw bar as well. Idk how old Faidley's is; but I felt like I was back in time at an old school spot. Note: whew it was expensive! Idk what the "Market Price" was for the crab cake; but my meal was $39, they also ship Crab Cakes! The lady was really nice behind the counter, which makes the experience even better. good lord almighty! my foodie daughter comes through again with an amazing recommendation. faidley's seafood at the lexington market has the most amazing crabcakes i have ever eaten-and i'm a beach girl, i KNOW crabcakes. they are the size of a softball, very lightly breaded with no filler. the platter comes with two sides. we choose pickled beets ( a little more sugary than my husband would have liked) and mac and cheese ( creamy and gooey and delicious.) my husband also got three raw oysters; probably some of the biggest we have ever seen. it's counter service with standing room only tables, but the staff is very friendly and the space works. if you're in baltimore and want crabcakes, this is a must place. read more
We had to stop here being from Tampa. We love crab cakes and where else to get the best than Maryland. This is inside the Lexington Market which is a must see in Baltimore! It's loud and fun and full of good food and other things for sale. We waited in line but not too long for a Saturday. It moves fast. And the service is organized and efficient. We definitely will come again the next time we're in town. read more

Faidley's was a bucketlist place. I mean, they mention it on "The Wire" FFS. So we met with friends to have a lunch adventure, even though neither wanted crabcakes. Luckily, there's a variety of foods available at Lexington Market and while we all ate different things, from different stalls, we had a great time hanging out. Faidley's has not moved into the new market. There are QR codes all over the place so that you can monitor the process, but I REALLY wish they weren't going to move into the gentrified space. The current Faidley's has ALL the charm, and I don't know how they are going to transport all that history and atmosphere over to a very white space. The floor in the current space is a marvel in itself. They had to figure out how to grade it so that it would be flat, since the space is built on a bit of a hill. It's all hightop tables over at Faidley's, which always annoys me since I am a wheelchair user and cannot reach them. All the tables were full though, as well as several spaces at the counter where people were slurping down oysters and such. We took our purchases to go, since our friends were still over at the new Market (even though there aren't many tables there, at least I can reach most of them). The employees are friendly and silly, and I ended up blowing a kiss to one who suggested that he charged people for taking photos. I can just imagine THAT Baltimore; the dark, dingy but not dirty, accepting, flirtatious, working man's Baltimore and I like it - A LOT. It would be a shame to see it go, for there to no longer be places like Faidley's to remind us how the city used to be before it was all hotels and skyscrapers. The food, however, was such a disappointment. The crabcake wasn't brag-worthy, and the clam strips were an abomination. I've had better crabcakes at Friendly Farms and Michael's Steak and Lobster House on Eastern Avenue. The clam strips could have come out of my own freezer and been cooked in my air fryer. They were neither crispy nor delicious. I don't feel like I wasted my money on the crabcake, cuz it had to be done, but those clam strips were just YUCK. I'm glad I went inside. I'm glad I got the crabcake cuz now I have an educated foodie opinion. I wouldn't suggest that you skip the experience, but I hope this review helps you make better choices than we made. But if you're gonna go, go now before this beauty is lost to the sands of time. read more

They serve the largest crab cake I've ever laid eyes on. It was absolutely impressive and delicious, but warning -- there were bits of crab shell throughout, so though it was delicious, a bit annoying to eat. Location was a little confusing. We thought this was in the market place but they were closed and there's another storefront next door. Thankful they were open so we could try these. Ordering was simple and quick enough. For the size and quantity/quality of the crab meat, the price was decent. Service happens at the counter, where they are helpful and friendly. You then pick up the order and for the most part are left alone. Glad to try this place once, but probably will not return. read more

Stopped quickly in Baltimore and a Google search for best crab cakes in Baltimore led us to Faidley's. Everything was absolutely exceptional! We told the gal at the counter (I wish I had her name because she was so welcoming and fantastic) that it was our first time visiting and she told us all about their crab cakes and helped us with a smile and a love for their dishes! Fabulous first impression!!!! The food is hands down, some of the best food I have ever eaten! Their famous crab cakes, the pickled cucumber, Mac & cheese, and fried shrimp were all devoured by my family. I cannot think of one bad thing to say. Simply the best!!!! Ok I searched for this place because I seen it pop up each time I searched for Maryland crab soup. I kept reading it had the BEST crab cakes and crap soup so I came to Lexington marked and found them. When I tell you I didn't take my eyes off my food except to write this review ( yes I'm still here eating ) OH MY GOD. This is definitely what I wanted!! Im so happy I came here and I will be back because the cravings I have are fulfilled. I haven't been to Lexington market since I was a child and I promise you if you want a really amazing crab cake PLEASE come here as your first stop don't go anywhere else !! I paid 22.74$ for greatness. The young lady who took my order told me they were famous for the bigger crab cakes (22$) but because I'd never been here before she didn't want me to spend my money like that but yeah I'll spend money on great food! You have to check this spot out if ever in Baltimore. Caught it right before it moved to the new Lexington Market and so glad I did. They do it like they've always done it. The quality of the crabcake was spectacular. The sides were classic. Rich, open, a bit heavy, but it's what you expect when you go to a place that has been around as long as this one has. The folks behind the counter are all business and the food comes up fast. There's also an oyster bar and fresh seafood counter. The stand up counters are great for people watching. One warning if you're going to eat there is that it is a seafood market... so there are some smells that linger. Perfect lunch for somebody from out of town who wanted something the locals love. read more

We got two orders of crab cakes, they were massive and full of lump crab meat. The flavor on them was very buttery but I felt like I couldn't get the crab flavor just the texture and visual aspect of the meat showed through. It was very rich and we each struggled to finish our own crab cake. At $25 each they were pricey but I'm glad we got to try this famous spot. We came in Saturday around 12:30 and the line wasn't too long. All the crab cakes are premade and served warm/room temp. The fries came out piping hot though. read more

Probably the best crab cake I've ever had. Delicious and chocked full of lump crab. I was up in Baltimore for the day on business and walked out of my way to visit Lexington Market. So glad I did! Faidley's was amazing! The food was delicious, the dining area was immaculate, and the staff were lovely. I can't wait to go back! Highly recommend! read more
Great option for seafood at Lexington Market! However the market is currently in the process of renovating and moving just down the block in to a new building. Faidleys is still open. Parking is convenient in the Lexington Market parking lots. It's about $4 for 1 hr then $5 after. We got lump crab cakes with sides and soup. Crab cakes were well seasoned. They mistakenly gave me the wrong sides but made up for it with a replacement. read more

16 dollars for a small crab cake? Worth it?
I found cheaper crab cakes in Baltimore but they contain fillers, Faidley's crab cakes do not have any, the area and the market itself are very sketchy though
How does this place compare to Koco's for crab cake?
I believe that the Faidley version is more seasoned than the Koco version. The Koco version is just the crab meat. Both crab cakes contain no filler and if I only had one choice, I'd eat the Faidley version.
