We stopped to eat here for Edgar Allen Poe Festival and I'm glad we picked this place to eat. Everything was delicious. One of the best crab cakes! The place is located right in Lexington Market.

Very glad we stopped in during our quick trip. The lump crab cake was as good as advertised. We were impressed with how much crab meat was actually in the cake. Other places we've tried skimp in the meat. We also tried the devil eggs which were a nice addition. They had a bit of a sweet and savory flavor profile that pulled through at the end of the bite. The Lexington Market area itself was a cool experience with many food options. The crab cake also came with a mini salad side that was refreshing.

Pretty good! Ordered deviled eggs and the lump crab cake. Probably one of the best scene cakes I've had. They're jumbo and don't disappoint on the lump and lump crab cake. Great flavor with a light crust in the outside. Deviled eggs were great too. Very creamy. More in the sweet side rather than tangy. I don't mind it though. It was good to switch it up from a traditional deviled egg. Most of the service was great. One employee was very kind while another one just didn't want to be there that day. Standing room only inside and seating outdoor area. I would recommend this place!

Decent crab cakes but not the best in Baltimore by any stretch of the imagination. Koco's is the best, G&M is second, Jimmy's is third and Faidley's is fourth, so far. It's also not a sit down restaurant. For what you get it's pretty pricey. Good slaw though, finely shredded and great flavor.

Stayed nearby and heard that the Lexington market is the place to go. Was also recommended to come to Faidley's. The crab cake was sooo good. The crunchiness on the outside made it have so many layers of flavor. We tried the oysters too. They opened the oysters right in front of you. I asked how to eat it and got detailed instructions on how to eat oysters this way~ it was good as well. We were debating which soup to get. The nice lady gave us some samples so that we can taste them beforehand.

Crab Cake Platter

This was my second visit to Faidley's Seafood, with the first being more than 10 years ago. It's located inside Lexington Market, which is a Baltimore institution and part of the overall experience. We ordered two crab cake platters, and the crab cakes were every bit as good as we remembered--fresh, packed with crab, and definitely the reason to visit. The sides were good and complemented the meal well. We also tried the fried shrimp basket. It was fine, but if we came back, we'd skip it and order another crab cake instead. The crab cakes are clearly what Faidley's does best and are well worth trying. Overall, if you're visiting Baltimore and want to experience one of the city's most iconic foods, Faidley's is a great stop.

Being from LA, a few of my friends from the DMV were so serious about Faidley's Crab Cakes that they'd have them flown in for special occasions. Had my first taste about 15 years ago and hadn't had them since. Finally making it to the legendary Lexington Market to try them again was a genuinely special moment. The crab cake was incredible, fresh and loaded with lump crab meat the whole way through. The crab soup was great too. But it was the whole experience, the food, the history, the vibe of Lexington Market, that really made it.

The best crab cake in Baltimore. Bar none. Mac and cheese was well seasoned and delicious. I also enjoyed the deviled eggs. But seriously, get the crab cake, maybe two. They're perfect.

Quick service, but standing tables and counters only. The crab cake was full of crab, very little filling and not dry at all! The fries were a bit plain, but I did enjoy the mac and cheese. Overall, the food was good, but it was a bit pricey.

Finally got up Crab spot 3 while on the crab crawl and it wasn't bad. I'd say the Crabcake is 2nd on the list only because of the temperature and shell pieces. Service was great. The lady who took our order explained items and gave great recommendations. The ambiance was cool. Definitely keep in mind they have table tops and no chairs. There is seating outside on the patio. The market is very unique and I would come back and try the blue crab and other seafood.

This stop during my trip to Baltimore was well worth it. Went for the gold and ordered the Jumbo crab cake platter. Had G&M a few days ago which I thoroughly enjoyed, but this one may be my new favorite so far. I really wanted to try the raw oysters as well but I was too full for it, I may go back and try them before heading back home. I watched plenty of YouTube videos on Faidley's and I must say it was well worth the hype. The ladies working here were so sweet and helpful, they certainly enhanced the experience.

The soft shell crab sandwich hit the spot! I was craving seafood and I was surprised by the options. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich platter and chose pickled cucumbers and Mac & Cheese. The staff were patient and very kind since I have my kids with me. I felt very welcomed by the friendly Staff. The Natty Bo was prefer pairing with the sandwich. I love the atmosphere as it felt in I was stepping into history here! I loved all the photos and memorabilia. There is also a counter to order crabs to go as well!

Usamah N.

Wow, the seafood here is absolutely incredible! In a small mall like building with lots of other restaurants. Tried the crabcake, catfish, shrimp, and fries. The crabcake was LEGIT and probably the best I've had in my life. That catfish was also worth the try and was very surprised by the taste of it, man, this place is great!! Whenever I'm back in Baltimore I'll be going back here cus wow!! The reason for the 4 stars was the customer service, I didn't like that there was a cashier that was very rude. I understand it's busy but also important to make customers feel good

Faidley's Seafood Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Faidley's Seafood

16 dollars for a small crab cake? Worth it?

I found cheaper crab cakes in Baltimore but they contain fillers, Faidley's crab cakes do not have any, the area and the market itself are very sketchy though

How does this place compare to Koco's for crab cake?

I believe that the Faidley version is more seasoned than the Koco version. The Koco version is just the crab meat. Both crab cakes contain no filler and if I only had one choice, I'd eat the Faidley version.

How many ounces is their jumbo lump crab cake?

6.5 oz

Are they open on Memorial day?

yes!

And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. It was extra details like that which had me really enjoying Max's and dubbing it a must visit for any beer lover visiting Baltimore.

The beers are listed by number, but nobody tells you that you're supposed to order that way. I ordered a beer by its actual name, and the bartender acted like I was an idiot for not knowing their system. And nowhere in the restaurant or on the menu does it explain how to order. And numerous other people were doing the same thing. How hard is it to make a sign and/or update your website/menu? On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with. Terrible setup, and the male bartender Roberts's attitude made it even worse. Our group consisted of two bank CEO's, a law enforcement officer and a senior executive in investment banking. We'll take our wallets and business somewhere else on football Sunday.

During our conversation, I mentioned that my wife absolutely loved a specialty burger from his previous restaurant. That restaurant closed several years ago, and the burger isn't on Nepenthe's menu. Without hesitation, Chef Andrew told me that if I gave him some advance notice and brought her in, he would get the ingredients and make it especially for her. So that's exactly what I did for her birthday. When the burger arrived, my wife was genuinely surprised. Chef Andrew even added a candle to the plate to make the occasion extra special. The burger was everything she remembered. She often says she compares every burger she eats to that one, but had resigned herself to the idea that she'd never have it again. Bravo, Chef Andrew. What makes this story even more remarkable is that I had only met him once before. This wasn't something I asked him to do--he was the one who suggested it. That's the kind of hospitality is something I'll never forget. The food at Nepenthe is consistently good, and the atmosphere is fun, lively, and full of energy. The main space is also HUGE, featuring tables of varying group size, two bar areas, an outdoor courtyard featuring their own food truck, a private party area, and even more that I'll feature in the fun section!. For beers, I was enjoying IPAs, pilsners, lagers, porters, stouts, and then some. The first one I entered was a huge and satisfying PINBALL ALERT, and I happily spent all the cash I was carrying playing the Quest and Pokemon pinball tables. But when I pulled back the last door I walked through around last call, I was also absolutely blown away by their HUGE arcade room that featured any kind of arcade game imaginable (shooting, fighting, car racing, MORE pinball, etc) and a second bar space. Highly recommend this spot for groups looking for a place to gather and socialize. The space is deceivingly large; there are multiple indoor spaces all within a quick stride from a long bar with dozens of beer taps. The outdoor space is even larger than what's available indoors; their vast street level patio/deck space is full of picnic tables and benches that are perfect for larger groups when the weather is nice. And yes, their outdoor patio is pet friendly. While the brewery itself doesn't serve food, there was a food truck (that looked to be there quite often) set up in the outdoor area that had several good options. I had their burger and fries which was exactly what I needed after an afternoon of brews. The beer itself was tasty; I had several of their hazy IPA's which I've grown to enjoy. They also offer a very solid selection of N/A beer options; some of the folks in our group enjoyed them and gave them great reviews.
