Shrimp and crayfish. Best crayfish I've tasted
Karley B.

Went to Sunday dinner with some friends last week. Even though I live right down the street from this buffet, I hadn't visited it yet. I was wondering how it compared to Charm City Buffet, which I have been to several times. I assumed that it would be about the same, if not a tad bit worse, because it's smaller than Charm City Buffet. I am pleased to say that I WAS WRONG. Jeremy, Justin and I all thought that Best Buffet was better. The people cooking the food actually want it to taste good, instead of throwing whatever up on the buffet line thinking quality doesn't matter. I managed to eat two plates of food, which doesn't seem like a lot, but I had some big honkin' portions of meat. Everything was incredible, and I wish I could have unzipped my stomach and continued to eat. The roast pork was so tender and delicious. The spare rib meat came right off the bone and was sticky with that great hoisin-flavored Chinese sauce. The crawfish were spicy. All the Chinese dishes tasted like something you would get at a quality take-away. The sweet and sour chicken nuggets were crispy, and you get to sauce them yourself, so they stay that way. Jeremy couldn't get enough of the pepper steak and onions. Justin was the only one to take advantage of the hibachi - which he liked, but said it could use more vegetables to choose from. He would have liked some broccoli and mushrooms. I'm not sure if those things were available over at the salad bar, but if they were I feel like the manager of the buffet should consider moving the salad ingredients closer to the hibachi, so customers realize they have more choice. The shrimp were okay. I think I may be eating them wrong. I don't understand the seasoned coating on the outer shell. I peel off the shell, and thus all the coating, so why is it there? I ate half a dozen of them, though, so don't think I'm going to let my confusion stop me from eating shrimp whenever possible. Sharon, our other friend, wanted to pay for Jeremy and I, but didn't factor in the fact that prices are higher on the weekends and during dinner (she picked the time and day), so I ended up paying for myself because the price for two was already more than she expected to pay. Personally, I thought for the selection of foods, and considering it was dinner, the price of approximately $22 per person wasn't bad. I think this is the reason why she said that she preferred Charm City Buffet (when we paid), though she claimed that she thought the food tasted better at CCB. Her favorite item at Best Buffet was the coconut shrimp (which I regret not trying, but I couldn't fit anything else in my belly). I do wish that there was something seriously chocolatey, like a brownie, on the dessert bar. I tried to soothe my sweet tooth with a slice of cake with chocolate mousse on top, but it just didn't cut it. This is my top buffet choice (for now. There's a new one being remodeled on North Point, behind the mall, that I'm eagerly awaiting). I feel like I could go there every week, try new things each time, and be just as pleased as I was on Sunday.

Honestly, I was a little apprehensive in trying out Best Buffet, as I'm not really into Chinese buffets. However, I saw that this place had recently opened up and was a favorite of the locals. We were greeted warmly, and you pay first before you get seated. You have your typical Americanized Chinese fare, in addition to various Latin and American eats, seafood, sushi, and a teppanyaki station. I personally tried out their Old-Bay seasoned snow crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp (not deveined), the crab rangoon (bite-sized), seasoned string beans (tasty!), and a create-your-own stir-fry from the teppanyaki station (no yum yum sauce available, but was not needed, as the dish was seasoned well). The food was okay - it could have been more piping hot, considering we came right when they had opened. There were several parties that came in after us, to dine-in or to get their buffet (charge per pound) to go. Beverages are included in the price, which was a nice perk. I loved the decor - the owner/manager stated that her daughter created all of the artwork, which was pretty impressive! I also thought it was pretty cool to see that the staff were trimming the string beans - shows that they actually put care and effort into their dishes! Service was super friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking in the large plaza lot. +weekday and weekend buffet available +beverages included in the buffet price +friendly service +clean! +plenty of parking in plaza lot

I've always seen Best Buffet off North Point since we moved to the area but was also skeptical. They recently relocated off Merritt within a shopping center and we decided to check them out. First off, I know it's newer but it was very clean which I can personally appreciate!! Second, the staff are friendly and I love that the decor inside is all a piece of the owners daughters work! Here was the best part, it was one of the customers kids bday and the staff came with a piece of cake and sang happy birthday to him! I don't know many other buffets that do that. In terms of the food, nice wide selection ranging from sushi, soups, Chinese, American and teppanyaki. At the Teppanyaki station, the cook, cooked each item individually which was nice bc everything cooks at different pace. He then folded the egg & all the other ingredients in together. The sushi was a little lacking. Given there was only one person but most of the options has crab meat and cream cheese. I do wish more raw options were made available. The other fried foods could use a few more seconds in the fryer as it seemed a little underdone. The Rangoon in particular could use a bit more cream cheese and maybe fried more in a triangular shape than a pocket pinch shape as that left the top super crunchy to the point it also cut the roof of my mouth biting in. Lastly, the cost... for two adults drinks included !!! Came to $42 before tip. Not bad!

Right straight to the top of buffet dining experiences! This is a new location for this business, and I predict it will really take off in popularity. It was a weekday early lunch, and we arrived shortly after it opened, lots and lots of fresh food and reasonable prices. To go is $6.99/lb lunch & $7.99/lb dinner. For us seniors, it was $13.49 pre-tax to dine in. All the furnishings are new. Drinks are included, even the hot tea, which is served in a clear glass pot. What a nice change. Plates are under the buffet counters. Just take 1 and go. Plenty to eat on a standard Chinese buffet, which also included lightly seasoned male crabs (maybe med's). Extra Old Bay nearby. They also have sushi and a Hibachi, all included. Some American selections, too...pizza, spinach with cheese topping, Buffalo chicken wings... 4 kinds of soups: Wonton with Wontons floating in it, chicken noodle, egg drop, and 1 other, memory escapes me. The accompanying crunchy fried wonton triangles are fresh and light, a perfect complement along with the green onion slices. There is a fresh fruit bar as well. Lots and lots of desserts, you can even scoop your own ice cream into a cone or bowl, from the large containers of Jack and Jill brand...oreo, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Really good service, friendly and helpful. Free parking out front.

Visited this restaurant today to have lunch with my twin boys. They wanted Chinese so I thought let's give this place a try. Very clean establishment. It was not crowded, which i appreciated. We able to come right in pay for our food and be seated immediately. Our waiter was very attentive with taking our trash and keeping our drinks filled. The food was decent some items could of used a little more seasoning/flavor but over all for the price it was pretty fair can't complain. I plan to see try them again during dinner hours to see if they change their buffet items. Give this place a try.

This is my first time trying Best Buffet. It was nice and spacious to my surprise and the decor was very modern. The Chinese food was pretty good, I did not try a lot of the American food options because they didn't look all that good. Overall this place is pretty clean and the wait staff were very attentive and helpful. I would recommend this place if you are into buffets like I am.

a variety of food in a buffet

TLDR: Decent Chinese buffet. Very clean and well laid out Has all of your standard Chinese/American fare. Sushi was severely lacking selection but hibachi was above average. Vibe: 5/5. Now located in a strip mall on Merritt Blvd, Best Buffet has a new look compared to their old location off North Point. The restaurant is brand new, with the entire facility sporting modern amenities and clean from head to toe. Both booth seating as well as table seating is available for larger groups. The buffet area is laid out very thoughtfully. There are 8 buffet stations as well as the sushi and teppanyaki counters. Bonus points for them having a whole condiment bar for all your sauce needs as well as soy sauce at every table. Staff: 5/5. The entire staff that we encountered at Best were great from start to finish. Upon arrival, you are greeted at the front counter and you must pay first before being seated. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to our table for drinks and removing dirty plates. While, we were dining, we watched the staff celebrate another customer's child's birthday with their own personal cake with candles and sang. Definitely a nice touch, especially for a buffet Food: 3/5. Unfortunately this was the biggest miss for Best Buffet. While the hot food selection was decent, including all your usual suspects such as General Tso, beef and broccoli, dumplings, soups and American food, I felt there were significant missed opportunities in the sushi department. During my Wednesday night dinner service, the sushi bar was never fully stocked and mostly consisted of various renditions of California Rolls. There was only 1 time where I had any maguro or raw salmon sushi/maki. They had a staff member manning the sushi bar all night, but constantly turned out cooked rolls vs actual sushi. On a positive note, the teppanyaki was very good. The chef did a great job cooking the proteins and eggs as well as seasoning everything nicely. He separated out the steak from shrimp knowing they cook at different speeds as well as used both Sriracha and soy sauce to flavor. Dessert was OK as well, with your standard selection of cakes and ice cream. Overall, for $20 at dinner and $15 at lunch which includes a drink, Best Buffet offers a decent selection for a fair price.

Decent food. The pricing was relatively good, but the selection wasn't exactly extreme. Brave for running a sushi included buffet though.

Yuk. Cold food. Feels unsanitary there. Just gross. The service is okay but it is not worth $20 at all!

Let's start with the customer service which was very nice and friendly. They also offer delivery and is open late which I found helpful. The food is where I had mixed feelings. Some of my food was good and some of it was so/so: for example the chicken wings looked very dry and over cooked but when you tasted them they actually tasted good. They were my favorite out the meal. The egg rolls were unappetizing. Also my main entree did not have flavor and white rice was mushy. And I asked for my food to be spicy and it was not spicy at all. Another things I found odd was the pricing. While something were to be expected price wise something was over priced!! Like 4 chicken wings with no rice or fries was $8! That's $2 a wing!! Smh. And they charge $2 for Mumbo sauce!!! I will like to try other dishes and give them another try.

Nothing was spectacular but everything tasted pretty good. We got the combination lo mein, beef and mixed vegetables and Kung pao chicken, along with an order of fried dumplings: I think they use a chicken dumpling, they weren't really flavorful and extremely white inside. The chicken and beef were both delicious. I would definitely get both again. Overall, I would give them another try to see how consistent they are.
