I came here because I was craving Chinese and it was late and my regular place was closed. I don't like the style of the Chinese food here, but I think it might depend on what you like--If you like "healthy" Chinese food, this might be the place for you. The best part was the spring rolls and the donuts, those were like what I expected. The fried rice had very large pieces of vegetables (entire broccoli florets, piece of baby corn, carrot slices) and was not crispy, chewy, or anything that suggested it was fried except oily, and was the oblong oval kind of rice, some kind of short grain or sticky rice. So the texture was wrong to me. The flavor was underwhelming and did not use nearly enough soy sauce, salt, MSG, whatever. These things were pretty consistent across their other dishes as well, including lo mein and hunan chicken; veg pieces too big, flavor not there, sauce too thin and not dark enough. Parking was impossible for pickup; had to circle the block 5 times. The location was scary at 8:30PM, there was a homeless woman yelling at me from the sidewalk on the way in, just something to be aware of. I had a terrible experience with China House today. I only ordered from them once (months ago)--a sesame chicken plate with fried rice. When I tried to place another order a different time over the phone, they refused, claiming I had previously placed an order and never picked it up. That's not true, and when I tried to explain, the staff was rude and hung up on me. The food here never disappoints!!! Everyone is so nice and welcoming! I don't go anywhere else for Chinese food :) prices are fair and portion are all worth it! My usual order is the Vegetable Mei Fun, no corn with a side of chilly oil. I have also tried their Egg Drop soup and it hits well even in hot weather, LOL(I used to eat a crab egg drop instant soup that comes in an envelope, haven't come across anything like it) I've also tried their Hunan Shrimp, their Chicken & Broccoli as well as their Spring Rolls. I'm pretty sure I ate my usual in thanks giving, lol love their cooking! They're clean and they provide really great service! Ohh and if I haven't convinced you enough, I will eat any remaining on the next day or next 2 days without the food being bad!!! Having tried a large number of Chinese takeout places around the city, this one stands far above the rest. It has lower prices than my former go-to, and the food is better as well. They do their own delivery so no need to pay lots of fees to an app, and the turnaround time is reasonable even on a Friday night. OK so I've been to this place two times so far and here are my findings. The people on yelp are right there. Food is genuinely tasty even after the first day heating it up in the microwave so that's definitely a plus the neighborhood that this place is in isn't too bad either and is well lit so I appreciate that as well, they also have a wide selection of Chinese and American items on their menu which I really like as well. They do lunch and dinner specials, which is good on the pocket. The one thing that I noticed on their menu is there is it an option for barbecue spareribs as a combo and they definitely need to change that, another thing that I noticed that was missing from. There was a half-and-half. I don't think I've ever been to a takeout place in Virginia or Maryland that did not have half-and-half so that was slightly disappointing but as far as the food and taste the taste and quality was definitely there, which is the only reason that I have returned, I definitely want to go another time and try something else on their menu. Another search for local Chinese food while here in Baltimore. Found China House and took an Uber there. Looked like your typical neighborhood Chinese takeout place....there were only two tables inside. Ordered shrimp toast and a fish called Phoenix and Dragon (white chicken and shrimp in a glass clear sauce). Shrimp toast pieces were big but there was a taste of old oil. The shrimp filling was ok but mushy. The Phoenix and Dragon is a dish you don't find too often so I was looking forward to it. But what came looked like 1/2 General Tso Chicken and 1/2 Phoenix and Dragon. Seemed like they were trying to get rid of leftover General Tso Chicken. The GTC was overfried and drenched in sauce....ugh. The Phoenix and Dragon part was actually good...just wish I had a full dish of P&D. I have been very impressed with China House's food. It's BF and I's go-to at his house because it's walking distance. They have specials for spending certain amounts- you get a free soda for a purchase over $10 I believe, free crab ragoons for a purchase over $20, and free small general tso's chicken for a purchase over $35. Make sure you double check before you order though because that's always subject to change, but they advertise it in their menu and BF and I have always gotten free items in accordance to that. Dinner combos are a good deal-- $7-8 for pork fried rice, whatever entree you choose off the menu, and an egg roll. That's pretty much what we normally get! If you are watching your portions it's a ton of food and more than enough to be split into 2-3 meals (or eat it all, who's judging?!?) read more

I honestly wish I could give them 10 stars the food was so good. I ordered the spicy bean curd (aka Tofu) with garlic sauce and I added mushrooms. I placed it over the phone and was very satisfied to hear that my wait time was only 10 minutes. When I picked up my food it was still hot and ready upon arrival. The inside of the shop is your typical Chinese carry out setting and I believe it was standing room only. However I'm not fully sure considering I was rushing to get home and eat this. The sauce wasn't very spicy but the quality was amazing. The sweetness and garlic flavor really blended together well and I love the variety of veggies included. I also feel like the portion size was worth what I paid and they gave me the perfect amount of rice. This dish is perfect for all my vegan and vegetarian friends craving a crispy and flavorful tofu. By far the best and most consistent Chinese take out place in the city. Their general tso's chicken is one of the best I've had. The chicken is always well sauced sweet with a tiny kick of heat and crispy. The beef and broccoli actually comes with plentiful amount of beef. The crab rangoons are out of this world, so crispy and filled with cream cheesy crabby goodness. The shrimp items typically have a fair amount of shrimp, they don't skimp as other places do. Haven't been disappointed with too much from their menu. It's not amazing authentic Chinese, but for Americanized Chinese take out this place is tops. They do delivery and take out. If you're going to order always call in, their online ordering typically always ends up taking way longer. If you're calling on the weekend for delivery do expect a wait cause they get busy because they are so popular. I came here for a General Tso's Chicken with pork fried rice. While the chicken was really good, and I mean REALLY good I can't say the same about the fried rice. It was soggy, clumped, and severely under seasoned. If I were to come back I would just pass on the fried rice and get the chicken a la carte. The price wasn't half bad, and it's your typical Chinese takeout when you get inside. Kinda dingy, cleaner than some others that I've been to, and the clerk was not rude or dismissive. I thought it was interesting that you get a free soda with a $10 purchase, but you can't get to that level with just 1 meal. We ordered 2, so we got the single free soda. Better than no soda however, so no complaints there. If you're looking for a place for some really good Chinese, this can be your spot, just forget about the fried rice, maybe go for white rice or no side. Read about the place online, since I'm pretty much weekly finding new Chinese spots in the city for takeout. Generally my litmus test for a good Chinese place is a nice General Tso's Chicken. Tried it from here and I was absolutely delighted to see huge, crispy, and flavorful chunks of chicken cooked in what I find to be a far more interesting sauce than other spots I've frequented in the city. To top it off, their dumplings were absolutely out of this world. Went back a few days later to get the Orange Chicken and I was even more impressed. This place offers a dinner special for what I think is $9. For the price and the quality of the food, as far as I am aware this is the best bargain for Chinese food in Baltimore.
