Amazing sushi amazing service amazing ambiance. We're from out of state and this place makes the best sushi at home look like grocery store sushi. The prices are a little on the higher side but the quality is worth the price. Quality and quantity is right on par. 2 rolls were plenty for my husband and I.

Shoyu Sushi absolutely deserves all five stars. The customer service was incredibly kind and prompt, and I loved that they offered me a complimentary piece of sushi. I also noticed they did the same for other tables, which really shows how much they care about the experience. I ordered four pieces in order from left to right: the maguro, albacore, sea bream, and toro. The maguro truly melted in my mouth. The albacore was delicious with a surprisingly generous portion. The sea bream was probably my least favorite of the lineup but still very good. The toro was easily my personal favorite, and I could have eaten 100 of those. Each order comes with two pieces which made trying different options even better. I also got the baked mussels and wowowowow they were so good. I genuinely wanted to order another round but I was already full. This is the closest spot I have found to an omakase style experience without actually doing a full omakase. It has more flavor, great presentation, and a little extra dazzle instead of just plain fish on rice. The only downside was that parking was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it for the quality of the meal. Highly recommend!

The food is amazing nice serving size, the sushi is fresh, full and filling. The service was amazing, the waitress was very intuitive and knowledgeable. The ambiance reminds of an out of state little city sushi bar. The rice wine I had was so amazing, it wasn't too sweet or bitter and it went amazing with the cucumber salad.

I was craving sushi. So I did the ultimate Yelp search and this was a fair game choice that did not disappoint. Its a quaint and reasonably medium sized restaurant on Fort and Light St. Parking is not easy as its amongst residential community. When I entered I was told to choose an open table. There were a few so we were able to select a decent seat. Its clean and the service was great. We ordered the tasty Vegetable tempura, california tempura, baked Spicy scallop, and Spicy Fried Salmon Tempura with mixed california. I chose the Snow Beauty Saki. I was making a new choice as I never tried Saki and based off my taste experience it was not a choice that was tasty. With the service and the over all taste I enjoyed my food and will return. If you are lucky to grab parking and it is not crowded while in the area, make this your selection for Sushi or any of the Japanse dish that is served here.

Was not made aware by waitress that there would be a $7 additional charge for substituting salmon for tuna on the burrito. The salmon was such a skimp amount, didn't even fill the entire burrito. After the bill came, I told the waitress that we were not made aware about the additional charge beforehand and she spoke to the owner. Owner not willing to take initiative to remove the up charge. Talk to your employees so they make the customer aware about the additional charge!! This is ridiculous

Still my favorite place in Baltimore and Maryland for sushi. Stopped by for lunch on a quiet Tuesday, missed the lunch rush so was sat quickly. Service here was attentive and fast as usual on a quiet afternoon. Chill vibes and decent Spotify playlist on lol. Put in my order for drinks and sushi quickly. Sushi Bruce was in house and it was great to see him in action making our order. He's splitting time between this place and the location in fells point so it was great to see the guy. Always so welcoming and friendly and makes the best sushi. Got a bunch of nigiri which was delicious, good cuts of fish and delicious rice, and got a crunchy shrimp roll which was huge and a spicy tuna roll a staple go to old reliable. Don't come here as often as I used to after moving but really glad the quality of sushi and service here hasn't changed at all. It is still the best sushi spot in Baltimore and Maryland in my book. I would totally recommend and will definitely be back.

Amazing sushi! The restaurant brought in a calm ambiance and the service was welcoming. The menus were quite large and had many sushi options. The wait was not long before we received beautifully presented rolls that tasted out of this world. I would highly recommend this place. I found the prices to be fair as well.

So I used to go to Shoyou a lot in the last few years and really enjoyed my experience and the food. Sadly, the last time I went, things seem to have changed. All our rolls kept falling apart and felt like they were loosely made. Maybe because it was a busy Friday evening? The edamame and sauce are so excellent, but much to my dismay, the waiter kept trying to take the sauce away even though I said I wanted to keep it for my rolls (which I have been doing here for years!) I just wish things didn't have to change so much! Overall tho, the service is still good, I just feel like the vibe has changed over time.

I ordered pick up so may be that their food tastes different in house, but I felt their rolls to be too dense. They put a lot of imitation crab in the rolls (and don't say that on their descriptions) so it really takes away from any possible crunch that a roll could have. Imitation crab is fine but it's an overkill here. For the price, the rolls are quite big and have a moderate amount of rice. Would maybe go in store to try it for real, but wouldn't be ordering pickup again since they don't do delivery.

It's just... so good. Shoyou continues to be the best sushi in Baltimore - and I know that may not mean much since Baltimore has a severe lack of great sushi spots - but Shoyou delivers on quality, freshness, and presentation every damn time. Yes, it's in Fed Hill. Yes, parking can be tough. Yes, it's Baltimore city. What did you expect? I've actually always gotten lucky with a parking spot nearby. I've never had to wait for a table either. This past visit, we sat near the sushi bar area which was fun to watch the chefs work their magic. The table was quite sticky when we sat down but our server was really sweet and attentive and wiped it down for us as soon as I mentioned it. I know people are hyped over the specialty rolls here but being gluten free, I'm really limited with what I can have. I will also say that I personally think specialty rolls and cooked sushi is overrated. Why eat sushi if you can't taste the amazing flavors of the fish? We ordered a few rounds of salmon nigiri, fatty tuna nigiri, salmon sashimi, and a yellowtail maki roll. That fatty tuna is out of this world. And the sashimi? Delightful. The presentation is stunning and I love all the dishware here. I also love that they gave us some extra pieces of sashimi on our nigiri plate. So thoughtful! The sake selection could use some work but it's okay. I will totally be back for more when that next sushi craving hits.

**awesome, high quality sushi! Creative rolls I really like this place! I've gone a couple of times, and been impressed every time. I personally like the rolls the most. The soft-shell crab one was super creative and had amazing textures! I also like the baked dragon roll (with eel). They're usually pretty generous with the fish! The garnishing also makes everything so beautiful. Parking can be tricky since it's in Fed Hill. Street parking is generally free, if you can find a spot! The staff is always very friendly and quick with their service! I've always been seated very fast. The restaurant is pretty small and cozy.

Shoyou has quickly become my favorite sushi spot in Baltimore. I've been three times in the last two months and it has never disappointed. I've been lucky with street parking, but I have also gone on weekdays of off peak hours. It's a small space, but I haven't had to wait. Service is good but a little slow. On Sundays there is no service and no alcohol sale so you order with a QR code, but someone still brings you the food. Just make sure to tip before the app closes your tab (despite me telling it to keep it open). Foodwise, I have ordered the Japanese Burrito EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. and it's been delicious every time. It comes with a sweet mayo based sauce but I would love some sort of spice element. Maybe some chopped jalapenos to complement the tuna? Still a delicious burrito, though. I've also gotten uni every time and it's pricey, but very fresh and creamy. All of their nigiri are fresh, yummy, and every bite has been good. I've also tried a few rolls like the spicy tuna and again, a hit. You also can't go wrong with any of the baked volcano rolls. If you want sushi, go here. If not, go and at least try the burrito once!

I came to eat here for a Friday date night with my lovely girlfriend. The vibes were at an all time high and the service was fantastic. We ordered garlic edamame, shumai, and fatty tuna to start. The tuna was melt in your mouth delicious and the shumai were like little burst of glorious flavor. I ordered my favorite roll on the menu, the baked scallop California roll. This roll seems to get better each time I order it. Truly exquisite.

Is it still BYOB since moving to the new location?

Unfortunately no longer BYOB in the new location.

How does one call in a pick up order? The phone either is dial tone or goes to voicemail! Thank you!

They just moved to a new larger location and I think they are still getting things figured out! I am sure it will be back up and running at full speed soon!

A TV in the sushi bar? Bad form. If I walked in and saw that I'd turn and walk right back out. Is that there permanently?

Don't go and leave more seats for people who want the best sushi in baltimore??

This place was luckily right nearby with good reviews, but since it was a bit too late to eat indoors as they were cleaning up, I ordered my food to go. The woman in front seemed friendly based on the brief interaction I had with her. I went with the $22.95 Grilled Roll Combo, which included grilled tuna, salmon, and yellowtail rolls. All of this came with a pretty large container of miso soup that was better than your typical store-bought version, as it had a better depth of flavor. There was a bit less tofu than at some other places, but perhaps I just got an uneven batch. The meal came with 24 pieces in total, which was a bit shocking to my NYC brain. The various fish had different flavors and nice grill marks, with my favorites being the tuna and yellowtail, as expected. The rice was a little bit soft, but this was to be expected as there was sauce on it and it had traveled, so I am not blaming them. Outside of the rolls, there was some wasabi and some gari/sushi ginger. It was a nice and satisfying meal. Overall, it was a good deal. I can see why this place has been open for years from this dish alone. I would go again if I were back in Baltimore for a game or something and would recommend others check it out.

The staff are friendly and attentive. The raw sushi is pretty authentic and tasty. Portions are fair and price point is reasonable. The menu had a good variety and I feel like there's something for everyone. Raw sushi, cooked sushi (ala carte pieces, rolls); fried items, salads, soups, sashimi, pokebowls, noodles (stir fried, soup); japanese pancakes (okonomiyaki) and different beverages, etc. Quite a few times I've gotten the Deluxe Chirashi Sushi before, both dining-in the restaurant and through take-out orders with DoorDash. It was super awesome and has to be my favorite! It's a bowl of sushi rice with different vegetables (varies: kale, mixed greens, cucumber, radish/ daikon, avocado, micro greens) and colorful delicate slices of seafood (both raw and cooked: tuna/ ahi, seared tuna, white tuna/ escolar, salmon, yellowtail/ japanese amberjack/ hamachi, mackerel, shrimp/ ebi, egg/ tamago, crab stick, fish eggs/ tobiko). It's definitely like a treasure box from the sea. I get so happy when I see this dish! It's almost too pretty to eat! XD I've also tried a few different rolls like: Baked Salmon Philly Roll "Oven cooked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, spicy mayo, sweet sauce" (baked in a foil packet), Eel Cucumber Roll (Unagi), Maryland Real Crab Roll "real crab mix with Japanese mayo, old bay, avocado, cucumber crunch flakes, wrapped with soy paper, special sauce", 3 Roll Combo (Spicy or Regular: California Roll, Tuna Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll). The Spicy Cali Roll was amazing!!!I've also tried the Seafood Pancake (okonomiyaki) "made with wheat flour batter, shredded cabbage, onions, carrots, squash and okonomi sauce, Japanese mayo, on top and shrimp, clams, and mussels". What I really like is how well packed the take-out orders are! They Miso Soup is wrapped in saran wrap to make sure it doesn't spill. There's a piece of carsboard under the soups to make sure they lay flat. The Miso Soup is also very flavorful with lots of tofu and seaweed inside, not watered down with no flavor. The sushi rolls are packed in clear boxes efficiently and with good presentation! I recommend to definitely check this place out! You won't be disappointed (: I can't wait till I order sushi from here again!

Putting that aside, I actually think the food at Yoya is pretty decent! Pre-made sushi is never going to taste like sushi you would get at a sit down restaurant but it's still pretty good (and I actually do think that they roll everything fresh in the morning). The checkout place where you pay even gives you free eel sauce or spicy mayo if you ask for it, which in itself tells you they're not messing around, they want you to enjoy your food and that's all you can really expect from any restaurant/food place. The ramen isn't bad either for pre-made/ready to order ramen, I actually think it tastes really good and comes as a large portion. Yoya also does some poke bowls which are pretty standard as far as poke bowls go, although I WILL say that they can be really expensive if you're making a custom one, so just stick to the "specials". They also do lunch rice bowl specials for every day of the week, all of which I like! (Yes.... I have tried them all... and yes, basically 1/3 of my credit card statement every month is Yoya purchases) My favorite thing though, unexpectedly, is the grilled salmon salad that they have every day in the pre-made cooler. It is located in the bottom left corner of the cooler on the left. I have no idea what the dressing is that's in the salad, some sort of lemon vinaigrette or something, but it's amazing, like I would buy a bottle of it if I could! The salmon piece is generally pretty large and cooked well. When your food options in the hospital are limited and you're looking for something fresh/sallad-y, I highly recommend this salad, or anything really from Yoya!

I came as part of a large group dinner. I appreciate that they took large reservations and sat us in a nice spot in the middle of the restaurant. The server was nice and patient, but I did notice his jacket smelled like cigaret smoke. I asked what to get, since the menu is *huge* and overwhelming (I'm not sure why sushi, steak and pad Thai are on the same menu?). He recommended sushi, so I got a flaming dragon roll (I forget the exact name). Anyways, everyone else also ordered and the food came relatively quickly. Now...when I tell you this is the worst sushi I've ever had. Again, I hate being negative but I have to tell it like it is! When they first presented the dish, it was cool because they serve it on fire. I knew that they had sake in the dish (probably so the flame can keep going after they take it out of the kitchen). However, when I bit into it, the sake was *extremely* overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else except the sake. It was extremely alcohol-heavy and I could not finish the dish. I asked others to try it, and they all agreed that it was too heavy. The prices were also very high for what we got. The only food I enjoyed were the appetizers, but they were still unremarkable. Overall, I regrettably cannot recommend this place. None of the dishes stood out, and the sushi was shocking.

Not saying we HAVE to be comped something for a special occasion but the inconsistency between the restaurants is disappointing.

Had a good meal on Friday night, but was a little disappointed with the current, limited menu. Our…read moreserver mentioned that Gordon Ramsay North America locations are undergoing some menu changes coming in September, so looking forward to seeing what's next. For dinner, my husband and I started with cocktails - the chai team Old Fashioned for my husband, and the Scott's Donkey (swapped from gin to vodka) which had Fresno chilies and cucumber for me. Food was a mixed bag. The new sourdough rolls are not as good as the old bread, and my salmon was a little dry, but my husband's New York Strip with peppercorn sauce was good. Thankfully, the max and cheese and cinnamon-glazed carrots haven't changed. The dessert menus was also reduced, but they still have the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Parking tip: After parking in the garage, take the elevator to the ground floor, then you can walk straight across to the restaurant without having to navigate through the casino. Don't forget to get your parking validated at the restaurant.

My friend and I came in on a Saturday night around 6pm without reservations but were able to snag a…read moretable at the bar. This friend moved out of Baltimore but said this was one of her favorite places! We ordered a few things to share because everything on the menu looked so good. We started with the crispy rice with tuna, and then split the spicy tuna tataki and yellowtail jalapeño rolls. I thought all of the food was delicious, but my friend loved it so much she said she'd dream about it. Azumi is also by the waterfront and has outdoor seating which is great for when the weather is nice - it was raining when we were there though. The only thing is that all this goodness does come at a price. If you're getting sushi, things do add up pretty quickly, but the entrees seemed pretty reasonably priced for a nice restaurant

I'm sad to write a review for a friend who personally sought me out to tell me about their…read moreexperience this weekend when the visited to celebrate her husband's birthday. I haven't dined here before and might have heard of Azumi but I'm not too sure. She mentioned the portions sizes were small and her fish entree only came with miso dipping sauce and no other sides. Their server didn't inform them of this when originally ordering so she had to order additional sides after their entrees came. They also ordered wagyu fried rice and wagyu air fried rice (what's that?) She did say the fish was good but they all left hungry. These entrées, two cocktails plus two reg bevs came to over $200. The price wasn't a problem however they felt the value when it comes to quantity and price, left them looking for more. They choose Azumi for her husband's 60th birthday celebration and had to ask the server about how they would celebrate him since the check was about to arrive and nothing had happened. Their server asked if they were ordering something from the dessert menu and my friend declined. The server then came back with a small bowl of ice cream on top of a block of ice and three spoons . . . . She said they were all surprised and basically laughed at the "birthday" treat before them and how they were supposed to share the palm sized ice cream. She said multiple times they wouldn't go back and how disappointed her husband was with his birthday dinner experience while telling me the story. SMH I felt bad and asked her why she didn't ask me for a suggestion because yall know, we know who won't disappoint. She also didn't take any pics and I scolded her about that lol. I may have to fully recruit her to the Yelp family so she can do her research first although she stated her husband seen them on Tik Tok or IG. I have learned from that as well.
