Ramen Utsuke has genuinely good food, and I want to lead with that because it's true. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra chashu, and it was excellent -- rich, creamy Hakata-style pork broth with tender chashu and all the classic toppings done well. The staff were also great and friendly throughout the meal, attentive without being overbearing. Unfortunately, something happened near the end of the meal that I can't leave out of this review. A waitress yelled out "what kind of roach is that?" loud enough for the whole area to hear. We could hear kitchen staff laughing in response, and another server rushed over to shush her, clearly trying to contain the situation. Whatever was going on back there, it was handled in the worst possible way -- out loud, in front of customers, and then covered up rather than addressed. I really did enjoy the food, and the front-of-house staff were kind the whole time. But that moment raised real concerns about what's happening behind the scenes, and it's hard to fully recommend a restaurant when something like that happens in earshot of paying customers. I'd love to come back for the ramen, but I'd think twice given what we overheard.
One thing my Queen and I can do is sniff out great Japanese. I found this doing as I normally do whenever I want to eat- start with a Yelp Search! I took a look at the offerings and read the reviews and knew we needed to pull up. The ambience is casual and relaxed, you can go there in comfortable clothes and fit in fine. Japanese artwork is all over the space and gave authenticity to the experience. The service was prompt, friendly and working hard! And now the most important part. This was good food, prepared well, presented well and turned out quickly! I ordered a number of things and I don't believe we even waited ten minutes. Everything was fresh, the sushi was excellently executed. I got a specialty roll to see what they're working with and they delivered. The unagi was flavorful and tender and everything I had was excellent. The tonkatsu ramen and the miso soup needed a little salt, but otherwise it was excellent as well. We will definitely be back when we're in Baltimore again.
I came here before the BTS concert on Tuesday so there was a wait. The staff were so nice and friendly at getting everyone on the list and seated. The interior is cute and i was happy we were able to snag a booth. Nothing wowed me with the taste. The shishito peppers i expect to taste like ones I've had during yakitori and they were ok but lacking. The spicy tuna roll was a little heavy on the rice. The ramen wasn't spicy at all. It had great umami and the chicken was flavorful! (You know chicken in ramen is usually bland - not this one).
I got a spicy miso ramen ($16.5) and it was made in about 10 mins. The broth was really savory and had some small heat to it. The pork was seasoned well. Noodles were cooked perfectly! Only critique was the egg was slightly overcooked(but still really good!). Interior was very chill and staff were friendly! Overall fantastic ramen with good portion for the cost! I'd come back again! Food(50%): 8.7 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 8.0 Overall: 8.2/10
Loved the Ramen, great place to eat on a rainy day. The place has small tables and community tables in the middle that seat up to 10. They have an anime decor and play Pokeman on a screen. Place was full with patrons. Great Ramen.
Incredible. First time trying this ramen and I couldn't have been more pleased, it was exactly what I look for in a rich and flavorful bowl of ramen. The egg was perfectly jammy and the pork was tender. Noodles were a great bouncy texture too. Will be coming back and ordering take out from here all the time moving forward.
Came to eat here after a conference/training at the Royal Sonesta, so it was conveniently located. We were seating very quickly upon arrival. The waitress was great, answered our questions, and provided recommendations. Food was fresh and delicious!

My party was hanging out in the Inner Harbor area on our last day of trip in Baltimore and wanted to eat around the area before we head out. I found Ramen Utsuke from Yelp and although it had over 4-stars, I was skeptical because I came from a town with excellent Asian restaurants so I couldn't help but be a bit judgey about the reviews. Stopped by around late 4PM and the tables were still mostly occupied. We were quickly seated in a booth and ordered a few appetizers, bentos, and ramens. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was actually pretty legit Japanese. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen Black and the broth was delicious. The noodles were well done and it had a fair amount of toppings. The pork chashu could be better (they were a little dry) but overall, it was very good in a legitimate-Asian approved way. I also got the avocado salad in onion and roasted garlic dressing and the dressing was the bomb! We use the remainder as dipping sauce for other stuff. Service was great - the staff were very professional and attentive. Definitely recommended!
In town on a business trip and staying in the hotel nearby, I got some takeout here to take to the room. I liked the fact that I could get three smaller apps. So I got a mix of gyoza, crunchy shrimp roll, and Chicken Kara-age. Placed an advance order on the website and picked it up easily. Everything was quite tasty. I'm usually the type that prefers much more authentic Asian food in places like Chinatown in Philly. This type of place seems a little more trendy and fits in with the overall atmosphere of the Inner Harbor. But I would definitely eat here again if I were in town for business. I got a good amount of food for around 25 bucks.
Great food. This place is known to be very crowded during dinner. Went there especially early to ensure I do not have to wait for seats. Ambience is decent.
Be forewarned that this place is tiny! When I came here, there was a short wait, but that is to be expected if there are a limited amount of seats. It didn't take very long to be seated as I just missed the lunch rush. I ordered their house salad and tonkotsu ramen. Unfortunately, at this restaurant, they are preoccupied with getting your food out ASAP so I basically got the salad and ramen at the same time. Both were really delicious! I was pretty annoyed at the host who thought it was a good idea to ask me to move seats after all my food had been brought out on my table before he rescinded the request after another waitress intervened. If a party is seated at their table with their food, you shouldn't ask them to move unless there are extenuating circumstances which there was not. That was poor judgement from that particular host.
Everything was great honestly. Customer service, food was delish and not THAT MUCH SALT win win we will be back

Absolutely loved our visit here! The ramen was delicious, and the portions were big enough to leave us completely satisfied. We stopped by with my husband before the BTS concert, and considering how busy they were, the customer service was fantastic! We didn't have to wait long to be seated, and our food came out surprisingly fast. The anime-themed decor was such a cool touch and made the whole experience even more fun. Definitely a great spot for ramen, especially if you're looking for good food, generous portions, and great service! read more

I really enjoyed my lunch at Ramen Utsuke. I had my daughter with me and I found it easy to go up the ramp with my stroller and into the restaurant. They do have high chairs btw! The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the service was impeccable. I had multiple servers come and check up on me and I felt like if I ever needed anything they were able to take care of it. Also, one of the servers mentioned the restaurant is peanut free in case anyone has any allergies. The poke was really delicious. I felt that the salmon was very fresh and I thought they gave very large chunks of salmon compared to other restaurants that really do skip out on the salmon portion, but this restaurant did not! The poke had cucumbers, mangoes, avocado, and scallions as well and I felt that the mango with a nice touch to add some sweetness, and it was also very fresh. The addition of the cucumber gave a nice crunchy texture that helped the dish overall. As for the sauce, I got the original non-spicy poker sauce. I didn't use too much of it because a little bit goes a long way. I recommend anyone to come and try out the poker here and I haven't tried their Ramen yet, but I do look forward to it soon. read more

We were staying nearby at the Hyatt Regency and spotted this ramen place within short walking distance of the hotel. Since it was super windy and cold, it only made sense to eat some ramen. The place is fairly simple from the interior, but the ramen itself was amazing. What I liked is that there were several veggie ramen options. Because I wanted some kick, I got the Spicy Sesame ramen. It had the perfect ratio of soup/noodles and had the right amount of kick without feeling super heavy. I was thoroughly satisfied till the end. Also, the service was pretty prompt too, so no complaints on that front. Another bonus is that compared to prices nowadays, it was fairly reasonable. For two ramens and a beer, it was around $36 before tip. That's not bad, at least with what I'm used to. read more
On a Thursday around 2PM, I was served and seated right away. The place is clean. Just a note: the bathrooms are kinda dark?? Tonkotsu 8/10: Would I get this again? Absolutely. The broth was really flavorful. Not too salty at all. The only reason I'm taking off points is because I felt like the noodles were a bit soggy. Although, it did not ruin the overall meal. It was ok, definitely had better ramen before. We ordered naruto ramen, beef donburi, pork katsu, poke bowl, calamari, and fried tofu. The pork katsu tasted burnt to me it was overdone and the naruto ramen the broth was ok. The staff were friendly and they had a simple decorations but pretty inside. read more
Came here right before an Orioles game and it was pretty packed. Managed to get seated within 10 minutes though - they were really efficient with cleaning up tables! Ordered the Tonkotsu ramen, which was tasty. I'd put it solidly above average for ramen that I've eaten in my life. Would recommend! read more
This was my first time here...and my first time getting ramen from a restaurant...and it did not disappoint. Very friendly host. With no reservations, we were seated quickly on a Friday evening. Very nice, calm ambiance. Right across from the Inner Harbor. We started with hotel tea...I got Ginger Peach tea and it was superb. The Classic Chicken Shio Ramen has the perfect flavor broth for a first-timer. Nice and light and just the right saltiness. My cousin got the Paitan Shoyu. I wouldn't recommend this broth for anyone new to ramen, but it was pretty good. I'd definitely go back, when in town. read more

My first time in Baltimore and this place did not disappoint. The service was extremely quick and the space is very open. The staff were extremely kind and quick to fill my water glass. The ramen was a pretty hefty serving and the menu was large. My meal tasted delicious and I have absolutely no complaints about its It is right next to the harbor making it a convenient spot for tourists as well. read more
I went here earlier today as they opened at 11:30 (Friday) and wanted to get something to eat prior to hopping on my train. I ordered the spicy salmon roll and the salmon sashimi. Both were very good. The freshness of the salmon really did seem higher end. Both dishes were very reasonably priced. Location is across the street from the inner harbor and it's amazing how just one street over you can grab amazing sushi for a fraction of the price that you would from an inner harbor location. The staff was great - very helpful and attentive. I was in and out in quick order as they were there when I they were needed and stood by when they were not. They provided the recommendation, however, I really would love to go back and try their Ramen. The person sitting beside me did and it looks very good. The restaurant was clean, including their bathrooms. The ambiance is relaxed and has a cool vibe with all of their artwork and posters. I am really glad I had the opportunity to eat hear as I was going to go for a inner harbor restaurant initially, however, the one I was going to go to was closed and I wouldn't have made my train in time. read more
One of my favorite Ramen spots in Baltimore! I realized I hadn't been here in a little while, but I was pleasantly surprised at the menu additions and changes. We ordered the garlic shishito peppers and chicken Karage to start. They were both so good, flavorful and delicious. The chicken Karage has a new twist and has two dipping sauces to choose from now, I chose the honey siracha. We ordered the miso ramen with chicken and red tonkatsu. The staff were super pleasant and service was quick. We went on Halloween and they had candy for us if we wanted. Pleasant experience as always! read more
I had been craving ramen for weeks and decided to treat myself a couple of Sundays ago. Naturally, I headed to my favorite ramen spot, Ramen Utsuke. I came prepared with my ramen and sake book in hand and a water bottle because I planned to relax and savor my soup for as long as they'd let me. I had already glanced over the menu before arriving, so I knew exactly what I was going to order. Still, I took a moment to see if I might change my mind. I went with my classic, the Chicken Paitan Black, which was previously called the Oriole Park. I've always loved the black garlic oil, although I did pay an upcharge for it. The umami flavor is perfect in ramen. When my bowl arrived, I couldn't wait to dig in. I grabbed my spoon and began tasting the broth. However, I noticed a side of corn, which quickly made me realize they'd added it to the soup instead leaving it out, like I requested. I'm not a fan of corn at all, let alone in my ramen, so I spent some time picking the kernels out. I let the server know, and while they offered to remake the dish, I didn't want to wait any longer for my food. Plus, I didn't want to send it back. I also noticed there wasn't much black garlic oil in the soup, and I could barely taste it. The chicken was surprisingly cold and lacked flavor. It seemed like it had been cooked separately and then just added to the bowl, which made it dry and unappealing. I remember this from previous visits, but at least other elements of the dish used to make up for it. This time, however, I was missing the marinated soft-boiled egg, which I realized only after I was about a quarter of the way through my soup. I informed my server, and they brought the egg over, though I felt bad about bringing it up. The staff seemed very young, and I couldn't help but wonder if the kitchen staff was also young. Not that I have anything against younger employees, but they were socializing and standing around a lot. It's really disappointing when you've been looking forward to a specific dish for weeks and end up disappointed. Despite this, I would definitely return to Ramen & Sake - I just hope they deliver the ramen I love next time. read more

I love this restaurant! I wish I lived closer I had shoyu ramen and Takoyaki. I was so looking forward to dining at this spot and skipped lunch and walked a mile to get there - still could not finish my plates. A must visit if you are in Baltimore! read more
This review is for their Spicy Miso Ramen -- 5/5, definitely the best ramen I had so far in the DMV area. Broth was thick, flavorful, and just what I expected and needed. Their noodles (wavy) were cooked to perfection, just the perfect level of chewiness. We tried their tonkatsu ramen and karage, unfortunately didn't love either, would give 3 stars for those dishes. Service was fast, and everyone was so so nice. We dined with a one year old and our servers couldn't have been more accommodating. It's a small ramen joint, so the ambiance is just that. Nothing fancy, but it has a modern look & feel and maintained well / is clean. The location is a little odd, but it was perfect for us to walk over after our Aquarium trip. I came here with some friends late on a Friday night. We had a rather large party (approx. 7 people) and they wouldn't take reservations, but I was pleasantly surprised to be seated within 15 min of arrival. The service was prompt and pleasant, although the restaurant was quite busy. I ordered the sweet potato roll and curry veggie ramen. The sweet potato roll was standard but very tasty and it was fun that it was purple. I am not the biggest ramen fan (not a broth girl) but the broth here was thick and creamy. The portion size was substantial and I was able to take a significant amount home for leftovers. The taste was quite good, although the mushroom texture freaked me out a little bit. Everything is super customizable. If I was craving ramen, I would certainly return here in the future. read more

I knew it would be great judging by the line going past the door, which moved surprisingly quickly. I was quoted a 15 minute wait for just myself around 1pm on a weekday (day before a large convention) and was seated before 10 minutes was up. Menu is straightforward and simple, but has a lot of options I wish I had more time to try. I got the tonkotsu ramen with black garlic, and that came out within 10 minutes. Hot and fresh but not scalding, egg cooked just right, melt in your mouth pork that felt luxurious. Place is clean and has some Japanese decor, such as samurai armor. They also have gift cards and sell t-shirts. Definitely a place to visit! Prime location and amazing food. read more
I have been sleeping on this place for too long!!! I got take out from here a couple years ago (not long after they opened) and thought it was good, bot not really worth the cost/effort to pickup. Last night my wife and I dined in and WOW I can't believe how long I have been missing out. Portions were solid (not gigantic, but reasonably big), prices were good (not cheap, but again, reasonable, and noodle texture was INCREDIBLE! Add to that the fact that they were able to do a gluten-free option for my wife, and their service was friendly, and they have definitely earned my repeat business. Can't wait to go back! read more
FYI this spot is owned by the same people as Kippo, so their flavoring and quality will be similar. I really like the high ceiling and decor of the restaurant. It gives the place a roomy feel. There are paintings around there restaurant and a samurai armor on display in the back which was cool. I got the potato croquettes appetizer and the Tonkotsu Black. The ramen wasn't bad by any mean, in fact I really like their noodles. However I feel their broth could be more rich in flavor and is missing something that could've elevated it. I like my Tonkotsu broth rich and thick but theirs was rather subdued and bland. The Potato croquettes on the other hand were amazing. Crunchy on the outside, piping hot and soft on the inside with a side of Tonkatsu sauce. Service was acceptable but nothing to write home about. While the food was decent, I feel it is a one and done experience for me as there are better ramen options around the area, but that's just coming from a ramen snob so take that as you will. Parking wise your best bet would be the garage by the Hyatt or street parking if you can find any. read more
The homemade broth on the miso ramen was slightly sweet and had possibly a little ginger. A generous portion of seasoned grilled chicken thigh complimented it that was good on it's own, not overcooked. Standard egg noodles were used, which worked well with this. The marinated egg was slightly underdone, just how it is supposed to be. The slightly crisp cabbage was cooked on a grill and went well with the plump corn and soup. My wife had the tonkotsu ramen. The flavor of pork bone came through as well as some garlic. The service was slightly better than usual, though it was your standard booth or table seating arrangement. read more

One of the best Ramen places we have tried! My son gives it an 11 out of 10. Pork Gyoza- crispy and delicious Tonkotsu and Naruto black and red ramen, very spicy was the right level of spice (if you like spicy) and so flavorful. Spicy edamame has a great taste Honey tea was perfect (from a non tea lover). Staff was so nice and food was served quick. Prices were very reasonable and portions good. If I had to complain about anything it would just be that it can be a little cold by the door on a windy day if people dont push the door shut quickly. Thats nit picking as everything was wonderful. Go try this place, I know we will be back! read more

Visited Ramen Utsuke for the first tonight with friends after the holiday market, and had a great visit! The staff was very friendly and we were quickly seated as we arrived soon after opening. Definitely recommend getting there early to get a table because when we left there was a long wait. They have a variety of drinks so between us we tried the tea, melon cream soda and hot sake. All were great. We also shared Takoyaki and Portobello Karaage which were hot and delish. The ramen options were great! A lot of variety in flavors and proteins. Love that they had a lot of vegetarian options as well including tofu as a protein choice. Portions were a good size for the price. The flavor also was excellent for each one ordered at our table. We all love them! If you're looking for ramen in B-more, this is your spot! read more
Came here with a Baltimore local on her recommendation. We really enjoyed the food. Ramen was perfect on a winter night like we had. Highly recommend: Spicy miso ramen Shio ramen spicy green beans Tuna jalapeno poppers - double yes! Service is great and super friendly. The spot gets busy around dinner rush so be prepared to wait as they don't take reservations. but it is worth the wait. it's location near the Baltimore harbor makes it a great night out. They also validate parking at a discounted rate in the garage on the corner which is even better. They also navigated an allergy i had really well and offered to make accommodations. read more
Had a poke bowl from there today and my goodness it was delicious! The mango just enhanced the flavor of the cucumber and tuna. The establishment is well-kept and has good vibes. The price was good for the amount of food in the poke bowl. The service was good as well! read more
