Delicious ramen in Fells Point! Food: 5/5 delicious. The red with tonkotsu shoyu broth had a great taste profile: not too heavy on the garlic and wasn't too creamy. Not too salty either, which I find happens with some other ramen places. Noodles had a nice texture too, not too chewy or overcooked. The appetizer with the squid leg kara-age was also yummy and I was surprised that I got more than 3 pieces for the price of $8, so used to getting ripped off for apps. Service: 5/5 never had to ask for my water to be refilled even when the glasses are like 10 oz and I'm eating food with a little kick to it. I love this place. The spicy miso chicken ramen with wavy noodles is some of the best ramen I've ever had. It comes with egg and corn and the chicken is almost charred and crispy. I come here often and she's usually the one helping me, and she always delivers great service. She was attentive, friendly, and even helped me branch out and try something new. Whether it's slow or busy, her service is consistently top-tier. The ramen was a solid 10/10 as always. I went between 3 and 4 stars for this ramen spot because the food is really good, but overall the service and the vibe of the restaurant are lacking to me. The employees are not very welcoming, nor did they seem to have much interest in serving the tables. If this were a grab and go type of place, that would be one thing. But this is a sit-down establishment, so I would expect better service - especially when we were one of 3 tables there. Moving on to food, it's definitely really good ramen. The spicy garlic edamame to start is a must, and the ramen options are great. I got the curry tonkatsu, which has a great curry flavor. Most everything is cooked to perfection - especially the eggs. My only note is that the pork was a little tougher than I usually prefer in my ramen. But overall, the food was delicious. I think the ice cream sandwiches are a fun novelty, but probably not worth the additional $5. Overall, stop by if you want a good bowl of ramen. Some of the best ramen around. It had been a few years since I last dined here but I had an out of town friend who wanted some good ramen and we came here. It's a super casual restaurant and it wasn't too busy when we came around mid afternoon over the weekend. We ordered the Chicken Karaage to share. It's not that crispy but quite tender and went well with the honey mustard sauce it came with. For my dish, I ordered the Spicy Shoyu while my friend ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu. The portions were huge and we both loved ours. The broth is just amazing and tastes so good. I would just drink the broth alone - it's that good. Besides its prominent Fell's Point location, this standby is notable for being more vegetarian-friendly than a lot of ramen places, with multiple vegetarian flavor options for the noodle soup one comes for as well as some appetizers and other things. I got a spicy vegetarian miso and omitted the egg, but as a non-vegan I did get the regular noodles, which I assume have some egg in them. The flavor kept me intrigued; there was certainly some garlic, some sesame, some chili, but none of them overwhelmed the others. I added mushrooms, which were shredded black mushrooms of the type I like. You can do all sorts of customization and get nickeled and dimed, but I was happy for my options. For a beverage, I took a recommendation on mixing two teabags together, and received extra hot water so as to get several cups out of them. I needed a corrective ramen experience, and this was it! My first venture into non-college dorm-Ramen was in fells point in the 90s when we had a cigar bar with Ramen. My second was an overloaded bowl of tastes that were not complementary. Kippo was the third chance I needed to say "I like ramen." However I left there LOVING ramen. We shared the curry rice bowl appetizer as well as delicious shrimp balls, and when it came time to order an entree, I took my cue from my experienced friends and ordered the spicy tonkotsu black with an extra egg. If you don't like a bit of heat, they have a regular tonkotsu black.
