We had a great experience at Be More Thai Restaurant and will definitely be back! I really liked the atmosphere, especially the upstairs dining area--it had a nice, comfortable vibe. We tried the spring rolls, green curry with tofu, Pad Ka Pow, and mango sticky rice, and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was flavorful, fresh, and definitely hit the spot. The Thai tea was also good, although it was a little too sweet for my taste. One suggestion would be to ask customers how sweet they would like it, if possible. The wait staff was very attentive and responsive throughout our meal, which made the experience even better. Overall, great food, great service, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. Actually just stopped downtown to have some ice cream (see my review on Moo Moo Cow) and this was fairly close. I love Thai food so stopped in on a whim and so glad I did. I ordered the special of Pad Thai Fried rice and it was delicious. The price was reasonable and the serving size was four reasonable portions so I was able to have lunch with the leftovers. Came here after a day at the Maryland science center. It's a short walk away, so I was super excited to visit a place I previously enjoyed. We entered shortly after 4 PM, which is when they open. There was no one downstairs when we entered, so we walked upstairs. When we walked upstairs, we asked the man at the bar if we could be seated because there was no one downstairs. He looked a bit flustered at first, but still ended up seating us in the same spot. I sat before near the window, which is exactly what I wanted. He immediately brought us ice, water and menus. He pointed to the specials on the menu, and gave us some time to look. We were the only people in the restaurant. Within a few minutes, he came and took our orders. Then, we waited.... For like 25 or so minutes... for the appetizer. And honestly, when they brought the duck rolls out, I was super disappointed. These were not the duck rolls I remember. These were tiny, underfilled, mostly full of the wrapper themselves, and lacking flavor. Additionally, when I placed my initial order, I asked for all of the condiments/sauces to be brought out. I asked the server again when the rolls came out, and he didn't bring them out until I asked a third time when the entrées came out. When the entrées did come out (ga tiem and crab fried rice), they left a lot to be desired. Ga tiem: bland. And to make it so bad, the vegetables served with it, were not cooked in the sauce as they normally are. They were served on the side and we're not cooked all the way. I can't really eat broccoli, so I swapped it for green beans, but I could pretty much snap the green beans in half because they were still so undercooked. Crabmeat fried rice: the fact that they cut up like three full scallion stems, barely cooked them, and tucked them under/at the base of the rice is crazy. They weren't even cooked long enough to release flavor. Also, to be in Baltimore, the amount of crab was a little embarrassing. Definitely should have been more. Overall, the rice wasn't very flavorful. Thai tea: good! Not too sweet, not too milky. You want to know what really made me mad? I asked for soy sauce, and they brought those super cheap packages that just look like black water that the cheap Chinese restaurants provide you when you get carry out. Those packets literally taste like nothing. I have been to very few Asian restaurants in my life that provide that type of soy sauce, especially when you dine in. It doesn't taste like soy sauce at all. I was incredibly disappointed. And considering the fact that I had to ask for these sauces three times, I was even more disappointed. We spent about $62 on the items above. Would I say I got my moneys worth? No would I say that I enjoyed this visit as much as I enjoyed the last? Absolutely not. read more

Looking at this restaurant online, I thought the food could go either way. Based on the decor, I thought maybe it would be a real hidden gem. In February, their decorated Christmas tree was still lit on the second floor, which my eight-year-old daughter thought was funny. However, the food was average. Was toooo hungry to take a pic! I ordered the Red Curry, Pad Thai, Spring rolls The Red Curry was a little watery in my opinion but the flavor was amazing. The Pad Thai was a little under flavored to be honest I was a little disappointed at that but it was still good don't get me wrong.. I feel like if they would've put a couple siracha packets or some chili paste so I could've added that to the dish it would've been fire. The dish was very filling tho so I was satisfied and lastly you can't go wrong with spring rolls so that was a bonus! All in all I would def eat here again if I was craving some late night Thai (1am when it was ordered) Beware the prices are kinda steep but it's Thai food so not surprised. It's very cute, very intimate and the Christmas decorations were still up which was a vibe. Our server was so nice and friendly and timely. We sat by the window on the second floor and it was such a nice, cozy spot. We ordered the garden roll, pad Thai with chicken and green curry with tofu and veggies as well as a hot tea. The tea was perfect on a cold January night but the perfection kind of stops there. The garden roll was just a wrapped up salad. The peanut sauce was tasty but so sweet. I think there was one sliver of tofu in the whole roll. It was my fault for not reading the description but I expected noodles and less GREENS. The pad Thai was pretty standard but also very sweet. The green curry was nice and spicy but again, so so sweet. I loved the veggies in it though and love how piping hot it was, plus the white rice was a good consistency. Great ambiance with Asian inspired decor. Staff was friendly and food came out fast. The plum wine was very sweet, would be good over ice or seltzer water. I had the pineapple fried rice, added basil to it (extra $2) and asked for it to be spicy. It had a mild curry flavor and lots of big pineapple chunks as well as a good amount of shrimp and chicken. I have thought about what I should say in this review considering my own brother raved me to about this place. Let's start with the positive. The decor and ambience was nice. The server was friendly and nice as well. Food didn't take long to be served. Negative unfortunately for me was every food thing we tried. Chive pancakes were small square blocks which were bland and oil soaked. The duck over rice I got can use a complete rehaul. The mushrooms in it were not remotely edible. My bf tried it and had a bad taste in his mouth the rest of the evening. I tried to doctor it up with condiments but that did not help. He got a pad pumpkin which was bland. The pumpkin had an odd texture. If you don't want ice or want less ice in your drink it costs money?? What in the heck is this weird rule?? Never encountered this anywhere in my life. I was so sad and disappointed. I really wanted to like this place and thought about whether I should write a review or not. But I feel like they need to know not one food item we tried that night was good. How it all cost $65 for 2 people I don't know. By the end of each meal I'm satisfied with each of her suggestions. Today, my server suggested the tofu soup. For extra protein I asked for chicken to be added. The clear broth is balanced and soothed my soul. It's the perfect way to start your meal leaving you wanting more. The Pad Kee Mao has flat noodles tossed in a delicious savory sauce. I am always looking for some extra spice so my server brought over extra pepper flakes, fish sauce, pickled peppers and other seasonings to adjust the flavor to my palate. I suggest tasking the dish first before adding any of the extras. It can get really spicy if you're not careful. I've been dying to come to Be More Thai for forever based on the Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! It was a Monday night and it was pretty quiet inside with only a few other people dining in. The inside is really cute with a few tables downstairs and a few more upstairs. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and the chicken pad thai. Everything was delicious! The serving sizes were huge and just enough for the two of us to share and still have leftovers. The pineapple fried rice was probably the favorite from the night. It wasn't too sweet or too spicy but had a perfect blend of flavors. There was some type of spice in there that I couldn't place that made it absolutely incredible. Curry, maybe? It comes with a good amount of chicken and shrimp too which were perfectly cooked. The pad thai was some of the best I've ever had - very flavorful with plenty of toppings. The menu is a bit overwhelming, especially if you're dining in. They handed us each four or five different menus which almost made my head explode. Some of the items on the menu are not described in great detail so if you aren't very familiar with Thai cuisine, you might feel a bit confused. For example, I actually didn't realize that Thai iced tea came with milk already mixed in. I assumed if it had milk, it would be listed as "Thai milk tea" or something like that. Lo and behold, I was wrong and had to send the Thai iced tea back since I can't drink milk. I felt pretty stupid having made this error. If you are a Thai food novice, maybe do some Googling while you're perusing the menu so you don't make the same mistake as me. Overall, it was a great meal. Great Thai place in Fed Hill. The restaurant is skinny since it seems like a converted row home. They do most of their seating on the 2nd floor, but there are a few tables available on the 1st floor if stairs would be an issue. The 2nd floor is decorated with flowers and string lights and there's music playing over speakers. Some great ambience! The place is small so they can likely only fit 1 or 2 larger parties. I thought the food was good! I had the pad see ew which had great stir fry flavor and I really enjoyed the consistency of the noodles. Tom yum soup was good. Pad Thai was good but a slightly different flavor than I'm used to; maybe a little too sweet. Overall, nice Thai place. Prices are pretty comparable to other Fed Hill restaurants. Been here a few times and the restaurant and food have always been great. I have always enjoyed the ambiance. Last night we tried take out for the first time and ordered online through their website. It's advertised that you get 10% off your order for ordering online but this was not true. Secondly, the prices are about $1-2 higher for each item when compared to their dining in prices. We asked about this and was told that they have a new menu in store which we were directed to, but on the new menu the prices were still lower than online. Not sure what is going on, but would not recommend ordering online. The food was great (drunken noodles, pad see ew), portions are a little smaller than expected for the price I paid. I had ordered a thai iced coffee but when we went to pick up our food is when they told us that there was none left, so I got the thai iced tea instead. I had specified no ice, but there was a ton of ice, and the iced tea did not taste good. Overall, a disappointing take out experience. Would appreciate more clarity on the online prices, why a 10% discount is not being applied as advertised, and better communication when an item is not available. read more

Wow I cannot say enough about how good this spot is! My friends and I stumbled upon it and I'm so glad that we did. I had the be more fried rice with steak, so good! The duck roll was crispy and full of flavor, and the pork belly was fried perfectly. The khao suey had good flavor and broth amount, and really helped give the meal some juice. We also got the mango sticky rice and it was divine. Now parking is a little tough so just try your best to find a good spot. The inside is also very cozy and cute. Our hostess was nice as well. My sister, Farah (also reviewed it) had a different experience where it was not the best (she came after I recommend it to her) but she ordered different things. This Thai spot is a hidden gem! Went here on a whim while in Baltimore and the Yelp reviews definitely did not disappoint. From the moment you step in, you are transformed into a tranquil, cozy place, and welcomed with a warm smile. We came at around 8:30pm and it was not packed at the time. We were led upstairs and seated at one of the bigger tables by the window. The decor in this place is so cute! The room is dimly lit and noise levels are low, so it'd be a good spot for non-chaotic talking. The food, however, is the true star of the show. Each dish we ordered is so flavorful. Standouts for me are the Tom Kha (very sour, which I like), the Kra Pow (which has a good hint of spice), and the Sticky Mango Rice (we ordered three and wanted more!) tl;dr: DELICIOUS, my favorite Thai place in Baltimore. Ambiance: I love the ambiance here! You walk into a narrow hallway that leads into an unassuming part of the restaurant with only a few tables, and are often taken to the second floor, which is just so cozy and beautiful. They have wooden tables/chairs with lots of nice light decorations around and various floral and bird paintings. I absolutely love the atmosphere here, and it is one of the draws to this place. Service: Great service. Food comes in a timely manner, waiters are courteous, and no overall complaints. If it's your first time there, you may get overwhelmed with the number of menus you are handed as they have different specials going on usually. Food: I have extensively enjoyed their various vegetarian offerings, which is what I'll review below. Of note, my friends who are all non-vegetarian have also really enjoyed this place! - Panang curry with tofu: My favorite dish. I want to always get this every time I go there. It is an extremely flavorful dish with the thick, savory, slightly sweet curry where you can just imagine the roasted peanuts ground right into the curry paste. I just love this dish. - Pad kee mao with tofu: Great noodle dish with an assortment of vegetables, tasty chewy, thick noodles, and a good spice level! - Eggplant basil: Delicious dish served with well-cooked eggplant and Thai basils with an assortment of other vegetables served in a chili bean (I think) based sauce with white rice. Tasty vegetables and tofu, and hits the spot each time. - Sweet Sticky Rice with Pumpkin: I am not huge on desserts, so this was a bit different for me. I enjoyed the warm sticky rice contrasted with the cold sweet on top, although I'm not the largest fan of pumpkin.
