The food is really tasty and scrumptious. The ordering process was really easy, and my food was ready instantly. The ambiance is calm and cute.

So this is not the best poke place, but compared to Ono Poke in Cross Street Market and UMMC hospital poke, I think I prefer this place. It's quite a large space, but most of it is closed off due to COVID. You order at a counter by marking a paper menu. Fish is fresh and the bowl as a whole was very tasty. You have the ability to do half-half base and choose unlimited number of toppings. They have a lot of options for toppings, but I wish they had crab salad as an option. My biggest qualm with them is that I felt they did not give enough fish and toppings! I checked off a lot of toppings on the list, but the bowl was not filled to the top and the poke was not mixed so by the time I got to the bottom, it was just rice and veggies -- I recommend mixing it yourself since they don't. My friend got fewer toppings and her bowl was way underfilled. Other than the portion size problems, I was satisfied with their poke and will probably be back. Be sure to ask for a loyalty card - the 10th bowl you buy will be free!

Good poke bowl spot! Food was fresh and great selection of toppings. Make sure you get a little extra sauce!

Looks like they altered the place post COVID so you enter and there is a window to order your food. It looks like you used to be able to line up along the glass bar to see all the ingredients but customers aren't allowed back anymore. We were greeted upon arrival and perused the menu. The person taking our order was patient and nice. Decided upon one of their pre-made bowls (Salmon Lover) for take out. You get a choice between white or brown rice. The ingredients were fresh and flavors in the bowl balanced really well. Parking is a pain though.

Today I visited this establishment for the first time and it appears that due to COVID19 the restaurant is practicing CDC guidelines and social distancing practices. Also for all appearances it appeared that this establishment used to have an pick your own assembly line structure at one point, but for now it is shutdown. The Classic Bowl that I got was fresh and delicious, my only complaint is when I have poke bowl I like taste and texture crunchy wontons provide and add to the poke bowl. I asked for some on my bowl and that exactly what I got s.o.m.e as in actually 4 small wonton strips. My suggestion to myself is watch as they make it or make sure to look at your carry out before leaving to make sure you get what you order and asked for, to insure it is exactly what you pay $14+ dollars for. That was my only minor but important for me to have given a top rating. But my bowl was delicious, less the crunch I was hoping and looking for. Congratulations

They are FINALLY OPEN! I had been waiting for some time now for them to open and last night I got my wish of trying Poke Bowl for the first time. If you don't live in Fed Hill, plan on taking some time to find parking. I lucked up but beau did not. I got there a little after 9 already feeling rush because I assumed they closed at 9:30 like the others but was presently surprised they left time for parking, they close at 10:00 pm. Awesome! Which meant we had time to park, select, and divulge. Their team was really nice and extremely informative! They answered all my q uestions and had patience for my indecisiveness. I took some pics as I waited for beau but realized I was so excited to try I didn't take any of my completed bowl which included ahi tuna, white sushi rice, classic ginger hawaiian sauce, sesame seeds, kale, kimchi, nori strips, seaweed salad, edamame beans, carrots, purple cabbage, cilantro, and sweet wasabi sauce on the side that didn't get used because my combo was scrumdittlyumptious! ;-) YASSSSSSS!

I'm obsessed with the coconut shrimp classic bowl. It's the perfect blend of sweet and savory and hits all the right spots. The food is so fresh and they don't take forever preparing your order. I order from here at least 3 times a month. The gyoza and the spring rolls are great as well.

Finally a poke place to try in Federal Hill! What an upgrade from Subway. Cool spot with a make-your-own option. Such fresh ingredients and really yummy option for when you're craving sushi. Will definitely revisit!! We got the House Bowl & the Hawaiian Bowl, bowl which were loaded with good and fresh stuff. Definitely agree with the seaweed salad being amazing.

First time! My friend and I happened by while deciding what to eat for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised! We both ordered custom poke bowls. I liked that they had the option of custom burritos too! I want to try that next time~ Since we were hungry we decided on getting bowls. My bowl: Base: Half white rice & Half spring mix Protein: Salmon Sauce: House sauce Toppings: Scallion, Cucumber, Edamame, Corn, Pineapples, Fried onion, Seaweed I really enjoyed the bowl! It was little hard to mix everything together the way I usually eat my poke bowls haha but I loved the house sauce and the salmon was good too! Overall it fulfilled my poke craving!

This place has only been open for a few weeks and it's quickly become a routine for me to go here at least once a week. Fish is good quality and you get a decent amount of it for the price, and for $3.50 more you can add additional protein that still makes it cheaper than other poke options in the city. Staff is also quick to put your order together and SUPER nice. On one occasion, my husband and I placed our order online and were on our way to pick it up. An employee called us up and explained that one of the sauces we picked (I think it was Classic) would not pair well with the Salmon, and he made a few different recommendations instead. I greatly appreciated his suggestion and was pretty happy with the Ginger Hawaii Sauce :)

The space is basic, but the food is what keeps people coming back. The portions are big without feeling sloppy. The chicken katsu is solid: crispy on the outside, still juicy inside, and not drowned in sauce. The BBQ plates are dependable -- sweet, smoky, and cooked well -- especially if you like a mix of meats. Nothing feels overdone, and that's kind of the point. The mac salad deserves a mention because it actually tastes like mac salad, not some watered-down side. Creamy, simple, and it pairs well with everything else on the plate. Rice is cooked right, which shouldn't be a big deal, but it is. It's not trying to be trendy or upscale Hawaiian food. It's just straightforward comfort food that fills you up and tastes good. If you're looking for a reliable spot when you want something hearty and familiar, Halo Hawaiian gets the job done.

I also got some teriyaki sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because the pork definitely needed a little sauce. There were onions in the pork that I wished were cooked a bit more, they basically steamed. The flavor was delicious but the takeout bag leaked pork juice (?) all over my other groceries so that kinda sucked. That's the only reason for my 4 stars this time, but the food was amazing as always!

They share a space with other businesses in a somewhat food hall/bar type of vibe. Some businesses from the original "the block" food hall have moved here like snocream. There are a lot of different plate, bowl, and combo variations to choose from. For my first time, it was very hard to choose but I opted with the seafood combo which has fried fish, fried shrimp, and a choice of meat. The flavor is amazing especially the bbq marinade on the beef. The batter used for the shrimp and fish tastes the same, a little bland, but light batter not overly greasy. I'm not sure what authentic hawaiian food is supposed to taste like to compare this but I think the seafood needs some kind of sauce. Portion size is great, one combo plate can be shared between two people but u might want to have your own as you're eating it. The take-out menu vs. dine-in menu are a little confusing, I'm not sure which has the better value and/or if theres any difference in portion size or what-not but we got the to-go combo and just ate in store. The dine-in menu I was told just gets plated instead of put in a box but i'm wondering if you get more/less meat in that sense because why are there two different menus? Overall this spot is pretty solid and a different kind of cuisine thats good to have around the area. I will likely come back and update my review as I try the other items on the menu and as they continue to renovate the space.

I added this casual spot to my list a couple months ago, but didn't have concrete plans to check it out. Driving to Manassas and back on I-66 from where I live would cost half of my brain cells and all my patience. However, a few friends and I drove out to Shenandoah this past Friday evening, and I made a convincing argument that HawaU would be on the way. By the time we arrived, we were all incredibly hungry and ready to wolf down anything edible. The ordering process was easy: we ordered and paid at the counter, grabbed a seat at one of the few tables, and waited ~10-15 minutes for the food (parts of it are made to order). LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. My friends who got the spicy pork bowl and udon thought both were just OK and not special.

I came as part of a large group dinner. I appreciate that they took large reservations and sat us in a nice spot in the middle of the restaurant. The server was nice and patient, but I did notice his jacket smelled like cigaret smoke. I asked what to get, since the menu is *huge* and overwhelming (I'm not sure why sushi, steak and pad Thai are on the same menu?). He recommended sushi, so I got a flaming dragon roll (I forget the exact name). Anyways, everyone else also ordered and the food came relatively quickly. Now...when I tell you this is the worst sushi I've ever had. Again, I hate being negative but I have to tell it like it is! When they first presented the dish, it was cool because they serve it on fire. I knew that they had sake in the dish (probably so the flame can keep going after they take it out of the kitchen). However, when I bit into it, the sake was *extremely* overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else except the sake. It was extremely alcohol-heavy and I could not finish the dish. I asked others to try it, and they all agreed that it was too heavy. The prices were also very high for what we got. The only food I enjoyed were the appetizers, but they were still unremarkable. Overall, I regrettably cannot recommend this place. None of the dishes stood out, and the sushi was shocking.
