I paid extra for additional meat and received about a total of 8 very small pieces of meat. Every scoop of everything other than the lettuce was scraggly at best. So this is not the best poke place, but compared to Ono Poke in Cross Street Market and UMMC hospital poke, I think I prefer this place. It's quite a large space, but most of it is closed off due to COVID. You order at a counter by marking a paper menu. Fish is fresh and the bowl as a whole was very tasty. You have the ability to do half-half base and choose unlimited number of toppings. They have a lot of options for toppings, but I wish they had crab salad as an option. My biggest qualm with them is that I felt they did not give enough fish and toppings! I checked off a lot of toppings on the list, but the bowl was not filled to the top and the poke was not mixed so by the time I got to the bottom, it was just rice and veggies -- I recommend mixing it yourself since they don't. My friend got fewer toppings and her bowl was way underfilled. Other than the portion size problems, I was satisfied with their poke and will probably be back. She said "you're not my only custome. I sell a lot of fish. No one complain. I'm not giving you a refund. Call the police!" Overall, a terrible experience. Looks like they altered the place post COVID so you enter and there is a window to order your food. It looks like you used to be able to line up along the glass bar to see all the ingredients but customers aren't allowed back anymore. We were greeted upon arrival and perused the menu. The person taking our order was patient and nice. Decided upon one of their pre-made bowls (Salmon Lover) for take out. You get a choice between white or brown rice. Today I visited this establishment for the first time and it appears that due to COVID19 the restaurant is practicing CDC guidelines and social distancing practices. Also for all appearances it appeared that this establishment used to have an pick your own assembly line structure at one point, but for now it is shutdown. The Classic Bowl that I got was fresh and delicious, my only complaint is when I have poke bowl I like taste and texture crunchy wontons provide and add to the poke bowl. I asked for some on my bowl and that exactly what I got s.o.m.e as in actually 4 small wonton strips. My suggestion to myself is watch as they make it or make sure to look at your carry out before leaving to make sure you get what you order and asked for, to insure it is exactly what you pay $14+ dollars for. They are FINALLY OPEN! I had been waiting for some time now for them to open and last night I got my wish of trying Poke Bowl for the first time. If you don't live in Fed Hill, plan on taking some time to find parking. I lucked up but beau did not. I got there a little after 9 already feeling rush because I assumed they closed at 9:30 like the others but was presently surprised they left time for parking, they close at 10:00 pm. Awesome! Which meant we had time to park, select, and divulge. Their team was really nice and extremely informative! They answered all my q uestions and had patience for my indecisiveness. Also, when it arrived, the bowl was warm which kind of threw me off because I've never had a warm poke bowl--hence the 4 stars. However the flavor, ease of ordering, and cost were my deciding factors in this review. I am a HiLo poke stan, however they only offer delivery through Postmates (and DoorDash is much easier/cheaper with DashPass.) So I've been trying to find a poke place where I can recreate my favorite bowl AND get it delivered on the low low, and Poke Bowl Federal Hill did the job!!! I absolutely love the flat-rate, build your own bowl style of ordering, which allowed me to customize my bowl after the Hawaiian Classic that I love so much at HiLo. Bowls start at $14.25 and you choose a base, protein, and then up to 39 toppings (most of which are no extra charge!), and then your choice of finishing sauces. At many other poke bowl places, every topping costs extra which leads to ridiculously priced bowls. Also many other local poke places only offer mango, but I *NEED* pineapple on my bowls. So glad this place exists!!! My order was white rice, tuna, cucumber, cilantro, onion, scallion, edamame, jalapeño, pineapple, seaweed salad, furikake, tempura flakes, spicy mayo, and sweet soy sauce. You definitely need to dig in to mix up the bowl when it arrives because the sushi rice is packed tightly, but the flavor of this bowl was AMAZING! I do agree with previous reviews that they ~could~ do a better job giving bigger protein portions, however it wasn't exactly noticeable. There was definitely a decent amount. The poke bowl was a great mix of juicy and sweet fruit, A LOT of fresh tuna, salmon and shrimp in a light flavorful sauce over rice. This bowl was delightful and filling without being too heavy. The shrimp rolls were perfectly flaky and yummy! I also got a side of the spicy mayo which really complimented the rolls. I also drizzled some on the bowl. Poke Bowl may have a pretty straightforward name but there is nothing straightforward about their offerings and the flavors/ingredients in their Bowls and Burritos! I've tried Poke bowls at a few places and being a seafood and sushi lover I've definitely enjoyed myself but my Spicy Hawaiian style bowl from here helping me see the light. I now understand the hype and had one of the most filling (without being too much) and flavorful meals I've had in a bit. All the different flavors, spices, and seafood combined with the sweet tanginess of fresh Pineapple gave me everything I needed. I love poke... but unfortunately this was a let down for me. The amount of fish they give is very little and on top of that you cannot mix!! This is the first time I've ever encounter this. Other places allow you to mix between tuna, salmon, etc. Not only was there little fish, there was TOO much rice making it look like there's a lot of food. It's set up in the modern quick service style, where you can choose all your ingredients and they'll dump them all in a bowl, usually over rice. We opted for a traditional bowl, which had tuna, greens, avocado, peanuts, and a whole lot of other ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. My wife and I even commented to each other that even that seaweed stuff that can be chewy and off-putting at other places was really good. There was a lot of food in that bowl, which for a mid-teen price tag I would hope for, and while two people can easily split a bowl, one hungry person could just as easily not let them. They have a standard soda fountain, but they also a have a few Asian juice drinks which we found very quenching. Fantastic new addition to Federal Hill! Changing from the old Subway at this location to the Poke Bowl is like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari! The folks are really nice and really helpful, the food is incredibly fresh and tasty, and all the sauces finish it off perfectly. I had a bowl with white rice which is like an incredibly good sushi rice and salmon, with the Hawaiian spicy ginger sauce. And you get to choose from a million different veggies and other toppings, it's hard not to go overboard and just get everything but it was really really good. Honestly that was the most disappointing part, I also checked for the sweet chili aloha sauce to be mixed with the tuna and it wasn't. So I felt like the bowl was dry. The fish itself was nice and fresh which was something I did worry about when it comes to getting poke from a new spot. We love poke, and we've had it all the way from CA to NY to DC to Baltimore. Sadly this was one of the weaker poke bowls that we've had. While we want it to work because the staff was so nice, the bowls lacked in flavor, excitement and honestly fresh fish. The quality of the fish was ok but the amount of it that we got for the price was a little less than expected. We both got bowls with salmon since that was the only fish that looked fresh, and got some different toppings on there. Edamame, cucumbers, cabbage, cilantro, avocado among other things. We both got different sauces to go on top but they just weren't even close to as good as other places that we've been to. Lastly, I know many food places have gone in and out of that space, but the smell that is in there was very of putting for us. Maybe if you've been coming to this spot for awhile? It was like an old building smell plus some other off smells....it did not make us want to eat poke.
