Delicious Hawaiian food in Manassas. The location makes you question if you are in the right place but the food is soooo good! I tried the spicy teriyaki platter multiple times and it hits the spot every time. Shout-out to the Mac and cheese as well. Everything is made to order so expect a bit of wait especially around rush time. Limited seating in store but their takeout packaging is good enough - just make sure you eat it hot
We had a pretty good experience with delivery. I think next time we'll wanna eat there so that the pork cutlet and the beef is fresh. It was very unique with the Korean Sion and the portion sizes were good. I really like the spam musubi.
Awesome spam and hawaiian place in Manassas! Little quaint hole in a wall place with cheap but hefty portions. Great customer service. I saw them handle a weird and rude customer so easily. Their bulgogi fries are a fave.
Love the food here. I ordered the teriyaki chicken combo. Their Mac salad is great. They give you a huge portion. So worth the price. Would definitely go back.
A cozy little spot that has FABULOUS food. Comfortable, and reasonably priced for the portions, with kind staff. Would definitely return :) got the spicy pork loco bowl, pork curry rice, and spam musubi. Everything was fresh, the meat was tender and well-seasoned. The pork had a lovely heat without being so spicy it hurts. Lol my only qualm is that I don't live here so I can't make this a regular spot I come to!
First time here, we have missed having a good Loco moco and musibi. Since we don't live in the area we decided to try several menu items. The portions are great, the food is fresh and very flavorful. We have a lot of leftovers to enjoy! When we are in the area again we will definitely return!!
Great food here and the service is good too. We had food here few times and there's quite a few selection here. The bulgogi is very tasty and the side dishes are great too.
Pleasantly surprised!!! Well done! So now that I have that out the way, any islander will know that this food is more Hawaiian-adjacent than actual Hawaiian cuisine. Not that that's at all bad. The ingredients and presentation are all on point. I ordered the bulgogi meat plate with a slaw, mac salad, rice & a healthy portion of bulgogi-ish meat. Seriously, it's so good, but it's not really the kind of conventional or even fusion Hawaiian food. But it's really good. Kudos!!! I will definitely go back!
Holy smokes, this is an awesome spot. I got their spam musubi for takeout and it was cooked perfectly. The sauce on top was tasty, and it's kind of filling, they def don't skimp. I'll have to return and try their bigger entrees cause if it's the same quality, then I know I'll have a great time. It's chill vibes inside with some chairs and seats, and the workers were hard at work making the food.
This place is legit! As good as (if not better) than anything I have ever had on Oahu. The Mac salad was perfect as was the slaw. The spam musibi was absolutely delicious. I am only visiting here for work but I would come back just to go here again.
Today was my first time stopping by this location. I craved chicken teriyaki when I got up this morning, but I didn't want to drive all the way down by the mall to get some. So I was looking into places that had chicken teriyaki on their menu and this place popped up. Since I had to go in-town to visit a USPS store anyways, it all worked out in my favor. I stopped in and got a "Teriyaki Loco" Platter to-go. The item was $14.49, and came out to near $16 after taxes. The staff was super friendly to everyone, and the order was well-packed, with napkins and utensils included in the bag. I was asked at checkout if I had a card to stamp. I stated it was my first visit and the staff member I was speaking with happily explained that they gave out cards which had benefits on them for every few visits to the store that you made. This is a great bonus to draw in more repeat customers. The food was good. The chicken teriyaki was tender and flavorful. It didn't blow me away with any unique or outstanding flavors. It had a generic to-be-expected taste to it, but usually that's just what everybody wants. It was great! I happily ate it, and at the end of the meal was thoroughly pleased and full. The white rice paired nicely, and was cooked good - no clumps or crunchy bits. The mac & cheese on the side was really great! I found that to be an item I was reaching for the most. The restaurant was decently busy, but not crowded. There were a few groups of ones and twos popping in to pick up their pre-ordered food, and place new orders, while I was waiting for my food. This place was by no means a stagnant location, even though it's in the corner of the shopping center. There were a few decorations on the walls and a beautiful fan on the ceiling. There were some nice stickers on the walls, lights strung up, and general Hawaiian shaped decor placed about, but the vibe of out-there Hawaiian feel was a bit lacking. Don't expect an all-out experience! It's more of a order-n-go kind of place. The kitchen had a nice open layout where you could see your food being made, and it was a nice to see that again - most places have everything walled off these days. I enjoyed my time here. The location was easily found. The staff was friendly and inviting. The food was packaged well, with all included necessities. The food was delicious with no issues experienced. All-in-all, a great location. I hope everyone gives this place a try at least once.
I came here for my birthday dinner, and it was such a great comfort Hawaiian/Korean joint! First off, this spam musubi is the best I've ever had - including ones I tried in Hawaii! The loco moco was good, the platter portion is definitely hefty and can feed two people. I wish the gravy was more peppery, but otherwise takes me back to Hawaii :) The soy garlic pork was also delicious. While it may seem like no-frills on the outside, please come and support this local restaurant, the owners are incredibly kind!
Looking for unique food before going to Dulles to fly out. Yelped and decided to try HawaU. So glad we did!! Seems like a blend of Hawaiian and Korean food. The place is a little hard to find but the food was amazing. Inexpensive, family run, just awesome flavors. We got the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki, Spicy Pork, and Refukar teriyaki. The flavors were so unique and awesome. Highly recommend if you are looking for unique food, prepared by people that clearly know their cuisine. Awesome to that it is fast and cheap. Highly Recommend

My friend who grew up in Northern VA raves about HawaU as his favorite Hawaiian spot. To be fair, there aren't many options, so there's not really any competition. I added this casual spot to my list a couple months ago, but didn't have concrete plans to check it out. Driving to Manassas and back on I-66 from where I live would cost half of my brain cells and all my patience. However, a few friends and I drove out to Shenandoah this past Friday evening, and I made a convincing argument that HawaU would be on the way. By the time we arrived, we were all incredibly hungry and ready to wolf down anything edible. The ordering process was easy: we ordered and paid at the counter, grabbed a seat at one of the few tables, and waited ~10-15 minutes for the food (parts of it are made to order). LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. My friends who got the spicy pork bowl and udon thought both were just OK and not special. read more

This is 100% a hole in the wall spot because I really love their spam masubi's. I also really like that they offer a punch card now for their loyal customers. I told myself the next time I visit I'll try something different. I also really appreciate that they take phone orders, it makes my life easier since I have a limited time frame for lunch. By the time I get there my food is ready. read more

Never judge a book by its cover. The food at this place is so delicious! I had been wanting to check out HawaU for a while now and finally got around to trying their signature Loco Moco, regretting not having tried it sooner. From reading the other reviews, some people said the chicken loco was better. My group ordered 1 Loco Moco, 1 Chicken Loco, and 1 Tonkatsu dish. Everyone agreed that the Loco Moco was where it was at! The gravy was just so good, I wish I had some ripe kimchi to eat with the dish too. I am assuming this is Korean owned since I saw budaejjigae on their meal kit special menu too. The interior is well done for its location and nice to eat in with the green plant backdrop and palm tree. You can tell they make a good effort to decorate the place. 10/10 we will be back to order more of the Loco Moco! read more
We decided to try Hawaiian food in Manassas. We got the spam musubi double order. It's was delicious and freshly made. It was hot and had a generous portion. My katsu also come in fresh made to order, with a crispy yet tender texture when I bit it. I requested the sauces to be on the side. My daughter ordered the chicken teriyaki loco and she loved it too, the sauces are not to sweet. The rice is so plump and chewy. Honestly the rice was screaming for kimchi lol... HawaU is a Korean fusion . The ladies are so nice and welcoming. The restaurant set up is relaxing and fun with Kpop music in the background. They also have a photo op set up, and yes ...it is instragamable. For the drink we tried the drink of the day which was the Very Berry lemonade. It seems to be made with with fesh fruit and berries. A bit too sweet but that's just my taste. Hawau is definitely a cute hidden gem in a little corner tucked in Liberia Avenue. We had a fun bar seat with a window view, eating our delicious foods while people watching (judging :p) We will be back again. read more

There arent too many places that sell Loco Moco but this will definitely be my go to for my loco moco cravings! The pineapple pairs perfectly to cut down the gravy. And as someone who doesn't like egg, I actually enjoyed eating it! The service is friendly and when I asked for a sauce recommendation, he ended up just giving me all to try! I enjoyed the green and orange sauce the most! The only thing I would adjust is the mac salad, which could use more salt and vinegar- but after adjusting at home tasted perfect! Would love to try their musubis and lemonade next time! read more
Ever since coming back from Hawaii, I've been craving loco moco. I had it almost every day there, and I can't believe it's not a widely sold item here. So, I've made it at home a few times. When I heard there's a place near my house that sells them, I went to try it out right away. HawaU offers the classic loco moco on the menu as well as more fusion flavors like using bulgolgi and katsu as the protein. I went for the classic loco moco, and it was everything I expected from the burger patty, gravy, and rice to the macaroni and cabbage salad. I hadn't had a loco moco with a pineapple garnish before, but that was a fun sweet item to eat for dessert. This restaurant is a little bit out of my way to go regularly, but when I'm craving, I know where to go! read more

I had been wanting to try HawaU for a while as I had seen many great reviews. I placed an online order and got the Loco Moco platter, the Bulgogi Platter and the Spam Musabi. Ordering was easy and the food was ready when promised. I cannot believe I waited so long to try them, it was delicious! The restaurant was decorated nicely, very clean and the staff was so helpful. Don't sleep on them, I cannot wait to go back. read more

Exciting news to have Hawaiian food in Manassas! It's easy to drive by this place and miss it since it's in a shopping center with more car shops than restaurants but this place is worth the stop. The regular bowl portion is pretty filling in itself, and well worth the price. To have that amount of bulgogi meat for the bowl price is quite a deal. The flavors were all there and the combination of cabbage, Mac salad, bulgogi with onions/mushrooms and rice was fantastic. read more
We hardly go to Manassas, so we had to grab food that is a little more rare in the DMV. We have had Mexican and El Salvadorian food in Manassas before so we decided to try island and Asian fusion. The interior is nothing fancy. There's only a few tables and the counter where you can order your food. The decor is minimal. The menu offers a descent selection of Hawaiian fusion foods, mainly Korean and Hawaiian fusion. My husband had to try their loco moco and it reminded us of Hawaii from the macaroni salad to the meat patties and gravy. The spicy pork loco was a Korean dish with added fusion of macaroni salad. I didn't find it Hawaiian but they make good spicy pork belly. Our kids shared their udon noodles and they wanted more! I thought the musubi had too much sauce which made it harder to enjoy. Solid spot for whoever wants to try Hawaiian and Asian fusion food in Manassas. Service was accommodating and friendly which made this place awesome as well. read more

The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I have never had a Hawaiian and Korean fusion dish before. i enjoyed it immensely. I had a very good chicken curry dish and their home-made macaroni salad. Great lunch. Will definitely go back. The place is like a take-out with a few tables. Lots of cute decor and bric a brac. Not much ambiance, but nice and clean. read more
My son had been begging for Spam Masubi. We were fortunate to find Hawa U tucked into a little strip mall amongst the car dealerships and repair shops. The food is Hawaiian and Korean fusion and was fantastic! There is a reason it has 85 5-star reviews. We had 2 orders of the Spam Masubi. They were nice enough to let us know it had a spicy mayo (amazing) and teriyaki sauce (fantastic with a smoky flavor) on top. We got the mayo on the side and I used it for the Spam Masubi and the Beef Bulgogi Loco. It was definitely worth the 1/2 hour drive to Manassas for some amazing Hawaiian and Korean fusion. read more
My first restaurant for Hawaiian based food in northern Virginia. And it tasted alike to other similar restaurants I've had in the past. There are options for platter or bowl and I believe the platter is slightly bigger in quantity, at least it appeared so. It also seemed like they cooked the meat on the spot for each order which had the food come out hot and fresh! Terriyaki was very soft and sweet. Sweetness could be a bit overpowering for some, so the rice and side veggies/Mac helps to compensate. I also had the spam musubi which I also highly recommend! Really delicious and savory. They're quite decent in size so it'll take more than just a single bite to finish one. I hope to stop by here again in the near future read more

Probably the only place you will get Hawaiian food from in this DMV area. Small, simple place. Great service and great food. Everything we ordered was good. read more
Went back to try all the other loco plates! These are all the "bowl" sizes, fyi! * Bulgogi is korean marinated beef, if you've never tried before. * Katsu is fried pork - nothing special but it was good. * The chicken one reminds me of popcorn chicken from like kfc or smthng haha. If you're iffy about korean food, i'd start with this! Most fusion of them all. * Teriyaki - again, nothing extraordinary but it's not too salty or sweet & is great with the rice! Overall i loved all of them; for about $10 a bowl, it's a great quick meal. Go support the local biz!! read more

TL;DR: Good, simple food, great service! 4.5 stars I loooove when small new local businesses open up near me! This place is in Manassas that does Korean/Hawaiian fusion food. The menu is small (which I prefer), but still has enough for everyone. There are several tables inside, but filled up quick! Unfortunately when me and my friend got there, they were out of the original Loco Moco (which is what I wanted to get!). Just need to come eariler FOOD: ~Katsu Loco Platter (4/5): Pork cutlet with rice, mac salad, and cabbage salad. Large portion! The katsu comes with a sauce on top, but I may get it on the side next time because the katsu got a little soggy ~Mac Salad and Cabbage salad (4/5): both had very subtle flavors, but a good accompaniment to the platter ~Fries (4/5): So crispy and great portion! It had great flavor on it's own. But I go some sauces to dip it in ~Spam Musubi (4/5): How can you go wrong with Spam, eggs, and rice? So good! Maybe a tiiiiiny bit too much rice, but can always take some out when eating it ~Orange Sauce (Sriracha Mayo Base) (5/5): a simply well done spicy mayo; had just enough kick ~Red Sauce (5/5): I looooved this sauce because it was like a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce. It has a hot warning, but was more sweet than spicy in my opinion. Really enjoyed this place! Location is a little odd, but will definitely come back soon to try the Loco Moco! read more
