Stopped here while in town for a game convention. Located about 15min from downtown Baltimore, this was away from the hustle and trouble of finding city parking, and situated in a shopping center. We walked in - table for 4 - and were sat immediately. Ordered some beverages and started with crab Rangoon and gyoza. The gyoza were standard issue. Good taste in the filling but nothing out of the ordinary. For dinner, we ordered several rolls of sushi and maki, as well as entrees. I ordered a Philly roll and a Baltimore roll. The Philly roll had avocado in it which isn't really a Philly roll but it was very good. The Baltimore roll had crab, avocado, and old bay. This was really good and I liked the crispy topping to it. For my entree I ordered the tonkotsu ramen without the jazz - and the broth was very good and had deep flavor to it. Our waitress was very nice and attentive to us - several refills and the meals and apps came out very quickly. There's a bar (by the sushi making station), tables, and booths to sit. Plenty of seating. The ambiance is kind of modern with familiar touches of an Asian/Japanese dining experience. There's TVs everywhere, which I assume would be playing sports/news (but there weren't any games happening at that time). That's where my nitpick actually is. I don't think they monitor this very closely and so there were a few explicit songs and videos playing at the time we were there. It wasn't anything hardcore or anything, but something to be cognizant about if you're going with little ones. The food was solid. Things did take a little longer than what I expected considering how quiet the place was when we were there. However, things did taste fresh and made to order, so I'm guessing/assuming the time went to make things fresh which is definitely nice. All the food we ordered was well balanced with flavor and cooked well. The sushi menu felt a bit more on the Americanized side for me. e.g. there's lots of rolls with cream cheese and mayo type of sauces. But, what we did order was very tasty. Okay, I came here on a whim - literally. I was looking for a solo lunch sushi moment that wasn't too far from my location at the time, and this came up as a spot that was close. I came here I want to say on like a Wednesday or something for lunch and I was not particularly impressed. As soon as I walked in, the hostess didn't say a SINGLE WORD to me, so I was already put off by that. I asked for a table for one and she continued to not speak (she had an airpod in and was likely on the phone) as I just followed her (although it wasn't clear that that's what she wanted me to do - she just started walking) to a table where she sat me. She said nothing as she walked away, and I never saw her again. Anyways, the waitress came by a few minutes later and she was great albeit a little awkward/wasn't listening. No issues though, she was friendly and accommodating. I know it's like a never-seen-before experience when people dine alone, so maybe that was the reason she was thrown off a bit. Whatever. I can't remember exactly what I ordered (I think a couple of different rolls and some crab rangoons/wontons), and I believe I remember getting a miso soup as a little appetizer situation. All of the food was fine, but I will say I have had better at other spots, but it's not like it wasn't good at all, just average (IN MY OPINION!) The place was nice though. My family and I dined here on Thursday night and found the menu carefully made and the food thoughtfully and freshly prepared. Rolls were very reasonably priced as was the hibachi. Sushi Call is one of my go-to spots on a Friday evening when I'm craving comfort, cozy food. This was my second time ordering takeout and it was just as good as the first. We ordered the California roll, Dynamite roll, California tempura, and the Volcano miso ramen. Everything tasted fresh with great proportions. I ordered the ramen mild spicy and asked for extra chili oil on the side - definitely used it, and it hit perfectly. Customer service was great, and the take-out packaging was very secure. You cannot beat that price for the portion and quality of the sushi. There is more filling than rice and the fish was top notch. There is only one server but she was very friendly and efficient. I've been here a few times since my initial 3 star review and I dinged them significantly in the past because of service, however it has improved quite a bit. The sushi is good, everything I've had so there's not a particular roll I'd recommend if it sounds good to you it will likely be. So at first, I was very happy. The volcano roll is generously topped, the Philly roll was delicious, and I love any sushi place that also sells crab Rangoon. But then I started eating my crab rangoon. At first I thought it was thread, it was so black, but thread doesn't break apart like hair. Sushi Call is a pleasant little addition to the Elkridge strip and tends to be the go-to spot for food in between running errands. They are always busy due to a full bar, carryout orders, and numerous tables for dining-in. Staff is friendly and they will remember you! Food is fresh, flavorful, and their portions are quite large. I tend to always order sushi at sushi establishments but their hibachi is really good--healthier than the usual hibachi. Just had some FANTASTIC takeout for a sushi lunch from here, but once I saw the inside, I was almost regretting not staying- the place looks gorgeous, you'd never guess it from the outside! Tried this spot on a whim because I was close and there was a wait at my normal spot across the street. When we entered I was pleasantly surprised with the decor and the full bar. The lights were low but not too low as to not be able to see, your average Japanese restaurant. We were immediately greeted and seated. They offer many $7 cocktails and also have flavored lemonades and slushies. The menu was expansive from sushi to hibachi and teriyaki. We had the shrimp tempura appetizer which came with two shrimp and several tempura vegetables including sweet potatoes which were delicious. I ordered a combo hibachi of steak and shrimp which came with vegetables, noodles and choice of fried or steamed rice. I chose fried rice and I loved it. It was peppery and seasoned. My steak was cooked to my liking and very tender. I just could've used some seasonings like salt and pepper but the yum yum sauce worked. My husband ordered the shrimp teriyaki meal which came to the table sizzling hot on a heated cast iron plate with onions. He chose steamed rice. He loved his entree. Both meals came with soup and salad. Our total bill was about $52 which was great for all the food we had. They aren't skimpy on the portions which was appreciated. My next trip I will try the ramen. In general, the fishes didn't have much taste and the sushi's were bland. They were on the mushy side which may have been because of the avocado. I am so glad that I did as I was throughly impressed by the food and wait staff. This place is located inside a shopping center with plenty of parking. We were greeted immediately and seated. This place is so pretty inside, you wouldn't imagine it to be from the outdoor strip mall. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress who seated us immediately. There are hand sanitizing bottles at every table, which is a plus. Upon request, she told us about their popular rolls and gave us some suggestions. A new favorite (minus dessert) This was our 1st experience going anywhere literally since March to eat at an indoor dining establishment so it was quite nerve wracking at 1st. When we got there there was nobody sat down so we were very happy and everyone was wearing masks. And a social distancing known I will say as we were there for a while a few other families were sat the entire restaurant was open but these servers chose to sit a family of 6 less then 6' away from us. As somebody who is terribly pregnant right now and very concerned about social distancing if I had realized it sooner I would have asked us to move. I would recommend for anybody that they mention this when being sat so they understand your concerns and take note of it. Now on to the food and the value. This is absolutely new favorite the portions were fantastic and the quality of the fish was very good along with great presentation. Before this we had been consistent sushi Q Patrons but after this I can say that I found a new favorite for a very similar price. I enjoyed the audience and the shared parking lot was easy to get in-and-out of so no issues there. I will say however I knocked off one star due to the deserts and also the lack of social distancing. We were given a small sponge cake on the house which was very sweet but honestly did not taste good at all. I also ordered mochi in a flavor green tea and I was surprised to find it watery and honestly terrible. I am not sure if it got defrost it in then re frozen or what happened but I would highly recommend to this establishment to replace this vendor that they get it from. We decided to come here for lunch after running errands. We saw they had a lunch hibachi special and gave it a try. I got the hibachi shrimp and he got the hibachi steak. We both got soup and salad (not pictured), spring rolls (free with a purchase over $30), a side of fried noodles and two drinks. The food was good! It came out fast, our server was attentive and I would say it was a good portion for a lunch special. It was obviously smaller than going to a hibachi spot for dinner but for $12.95 you can't beat it. Hands down my favorite sushi place in Maryland. The people who run it are super nice and service is always efficient. It's close to where I work so I always get take out and it's ready in about 10 minutes. From hibachi to sushi to udon to pad thai. The decoration was beautiful and the servers are verty attentive to refill and to get you anything else that you may need. The lunch prices are simply amazing. 3 rolls for 11.95. And hibachi filet mignon for 12.95 or normal steak for 9.95. I decided to go with the filet mignon hibachi lunch. And shrimp tempura appetizer and my coworker also ordered a calamari. The lunch portion came with a small bowl of soup and salad which are better than most hibachi restaurants I have been to. The shrimp tempura is on point, crispy and not over cooked. But it's more like a mixed tempura, with 2 shrimps and the rest are veggies. The calamari was different, not as crispy, due to different type of batter used. The steak was cooked to medium and it was perfect. The portion was more than enough. I was too full trying to finish everything. If I live in the area, I would definitely return to try their sushi selection. read more
