Beef Drunken Noodles
Sam O.

Stopped in with a few friends for an early Saturday dinner. We just beat the rush and so glad we did. These are easily the best drunken noodles I've had in dc. Bouncy noodles, quality beef and fresh veggies had my tastebuds singing!!! Definitely pricey but worth it especially f you dine in! The space was cozy yet spacious and the waiters were so attentive and sweet. Can't wait to come back!

The food was absolutely insanely good and delicious! We got here 45 mins before closing. The space is very cozy on the inside and the servers were super warm. They graciously explain upfront that the restaurant charges a 20% gratuity for every order and also remind you when you pay so you dont tip if you dont wanna. The food is amazing! We got the house noodles with chicken and the noodle soup and it was super delicious and hearty. We went 3/4 spicy and it was very good. The flavors were different, the menu was very unique (options ither than your lad thai and drunken noodles) and the service was super quick. They have outdoor seating as well for better weather and i was able to find street parking right outside. Go guve them a shot and satisfy your cravings!

My friend and I decided to give this place a try after playing pool at Atomic billiards. We usually go to fresh med or spices, but wanted to try something new. I am so glad we came here. Absolutely loved it. They have authentic Thai food in their menu. The restaurant was packed which is a good sign that locals or tourists love this place. They also had lots of to-go orders. We sat outside initially but moved inside as the wind started to blow pretty hard. Service was nice but slightly on the slower end as they were packed. Totally understandable. We were not in a hurry so didn't really matter. We had ordered Thai ice tea which our server forgot to place the order. Well, for the mains we ordered moo ping which is barbecue pork with veggies and sticky rice. It was delicious. Highly recommend adding their spicy sauce. It's so good. My friend loved the chicken and shrimp dumplings with noodles. He can't handle spicy food. For dessert, we ordered mango sticky rice. They do run out of it so I suggest ordering it with your entrees. It was delicious. Mango was fresh and the sticky rice was nice and creamy. Price was nominal as well, however they do add service tax about 18%. They did not mention that. I noticed our bill was higher than the things we order. Server then brings it up that they have added 18% service tax. I tipped additional 15% on top of it which I am not happy about. I am definitely going back again but I might order take out next time. Service could have better. 4/5 mostly for service and the service tax.

Came on a Thursday night and was seated immediately! Very small interior. Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy. - spring rolls: nothing special - curry puffs: great - Basil chicken: average - Siam noodles: noodles were overcooked/mushy, but beef was very good

This place was highly rated so we decided to give it a try. Honestly I like hole in the wall places. No fancy place just good food. They don't take reservations so when we arrived we had to put our names on a list and we waiter maybe 45-50 minutes for a table. Once seated the waitress (seems to be the owners daughter) had so much personality and she was able to answer all of our questions. We started with a papaya salad (tasted just like it does in Thailand). We then ordered green curry chicken, pad Thai, shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce and vegetable fried rice. Everything was amazing and worth the wait and the hype. It's a small place with maybe 8 tables so pack your patience you won't be disappointed.

This place is amazing!! Wanted to try all of the best restaurants when visiting DC and this one popped up on many lists as a favorite - it did not disappoint. Loved learning about the family business and how the dynasty continues! This was also some of the best Thai food I've ever had - flavored and cooked to perfection.

Came here for Fathers Day with my parents- we LOVED the food! The dishes were unique and there were a lot of options for vegans/vegetarians. I also appreciate that their dishes had lots of vegetables, which a lot of restaurants skimp on, and LOVE that their meat is sustainably sourced. The only reason this isn't 5 star is because of the service- the staff were very nice but they weren't prepared for such a big crowd. I'd recommend taking reservations on holidays (the restaurant currently does not do them), maybe with a cancellation penalty, and then staffing up in advance. I also wish the venue was larger- I think it's best suited for takeout.

Siam House has delicious food. The restaurant itself is small, so expect to be packed in and able to hear all conversations. I've never had a bad meal here. I had the beef and broccoli (Thai style) and I highly recommend. My friend had a crispy pork dish which was really good. I'll be ordering this next time I go. T They also have a good happy hour with food and drinks.

Walked in without a reservation around 2PM on a Saturday with a group of 6 (including myself) and we got ourselves a big table. It's a good spot for a casual meal, though not everything wowed me this time around. I opted for the most spicy option for my tom yum and yet I didn't find it spicy enough (yes I have extremely high tolerance for spice). Lovely atmosphere and warm service--I'd say the food leans more toward comfort than complexity.

Siam was such a tasty Thai restaurant! I'm not going to lie -- I was a little startled to see a creepy crawler on the chair, but the waiter calmly scooped it up with his hands and set it free outside (I might've been a bit dramatic, lol). Everything I tried was delicious, from the salad to the garlic chicken. I'll definitely be back -- just on a Sunday to avoid paying for parking. Also, there's a really nice library across the street that's worth checking out!

cozy little family owned thai restaurant!!! the servers were hustlinggg. the chicken dumpling was so hot & crispy -- i am just anti mushrooms on the spring rolls. unfortunately they were out of both the summer rolls and crab rangoons. my pad see ew noodles were very soft and tender and tofu was fried perfectly. i liked that you could ask for fried vs. soft tofu +/- vegetables. but ratio of noodles to vegetables was not itttt. should've just gotten it without vegetables! thai ice tea was good but felt a little watered down. mango sticky rice was so delicious but i wish it was larger portions!!!! be aware that 20% tip is already automatically added (they didn't tell us until we asked which was kind of annoying)

My wife said, as she returned to the car with the takeout, that Birdsong was not crowded. To stay…read moreby the side of our elderly dog, we are foregoing the experience of dining out, more and more. After we finished eating, she remarked we needed to visit the restaurant sometime. We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

We were looking forward to eating at Birdsong, which has gotten great reviews. A few friends said…read morethat they went and loved it. But we thought only one of the four dishes we ordered was especially good, I wouldn't order the other three again. The Basil Shrimp - described as "Battered and golden fried" seemed more like tempura. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew. The Tom Yum soup was good, but very pricey at $25. For comparison, a similarly sized, likely an even larger entree Tom Yum soup at Bambu is $14. It had lots of noodles. We were sharing, and asked our server for recommendations- she suggested a second dish with the same noodles. Usually a server points out if diners are ordering two dishes with the same base ingredient (noodles) but our server actually suggested the second one. Seriously? And unfortunately, it was underwhelming, just blah. We left most of it. We got the chocolate crème brûlée, the presentation was very nice, with gilded peanuts on top. The taste was just so so, sweet but not much chocolate flavor. We liked the decor and the atmosphere was nice. We loved the bird mural. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly, but could have been more helpful. First, the recommendation for a second dish with the same noodles was not a good one. We asked if we could share everything, including the soup. We specifically asked if they could put it into bowls for us. They brought two bowls, but we had to wait a while for a spoon to divide it ourselves at the table. She ended up bringing us one of those small soup spoons that you often use for soup at Chinese restaurants. It was around the same size as a regular soup spoon. Apparently they didn't have anything that is more like a ladle, and it was not very useful for portioning out the soup. We thought we'd love this restaurant, but it was a miss for us tonight. Not only that, and this is on us, the only dish with any real nutrition or healthy ingredients was the soup. For one "small plate" appetizer, two entrées and one dessert, the total was just under $100.

The hand stretched noodles are made here fresh and are super thick, long, chewy, meaty and delicious. I absolutely loved them. The noodles do not contain eggs. I got my laghman with tofu and vegetables and it had some wood ear mushrooms. I ordered it at the highest spice level and it was delicious. There was some broth/ sauce and it almost reminded me of a combo of a Chinese sauce and a NM strong red Chilli. It was quite interesting. The decor here was nice too and I really liked their chilli crisp. I had to repeat this spot to try more and tried the Korma chop noodles (I had to get something with those same amazing hand pulled noodles again!). I really loved it. I ordered it at the highest spice level as well. These noodles are best eaten fresh and not as leftovers. I hope to try more in the future in one of their locations (sounds like the ones in CA with same name have different ownership)! They serve coffee during the day where I assume they have their pastries. Highlight was the korma chop - you definitely should specify your spice level. Medium was perfect and not too overpowering. The sauce that this comes with is so yummy. Wasn't a fan of the fried eggplant - it was on the sweeter side and the peppers weren't sautéed long enough. Service was friendly, but it did take a bit to get our check (you can just walk up to the counter to close out). Would definitely come back!
