Good enough. Solid food in adequate quantities. On the main road with street parking. I stopped by for dinner 30 minutes before closing. They served me with a smile. Place was clean.

I came here randomly one weekend and absolutely loved it! Can't remember the names of the sushi rolls we got but they were both amazing

We have ordered from here for years. Food is consistently good and I have ordered multiple things. I love the rice paper rolls and crabmeat wontons. I also really like the noodle dish "noodles on the boat". Everything is fresh and super tasty!

We went for happy hour. It was delicious and the prices were good. I think all drinks were half off. There was a 2, 3 and 4 dollar menu. We had edamame, crab Rangoon, basil chips, Japanese wontons yellowfin rolls, lobster salad and chicken satay. The crab Rangoon was delicious. I really enjoyed everything. The lobster salad wasn't my favorite, but that's mostly just not my favorite anyway. The servers were great, especially the host who was really friendly and helpful. I've been here before with groups and always have had a good meal. The restaurant itself is nice and has different areas to sit. Looking forward to returning.

This was a fun place for some snacks. I used to live in Cleveland park and this was always a favorite. I loved coming back here. My friend and I shared chicken satay and crab wontons. The chicken satay was great and crab wontons were okay. The service was wonderful. The ambiance is also great. There are not a lot of places open on a Saturday afternoon in Cleveland park and this was one of the few places.

I joined stonewall billiards league this winter. The league is held at Atomic pool bar. They don't have food at the bar. So one of the closest nice restaurants to the pool bar is the Spices Asian restaurant. Stonewall league members have 10% discount on the bill. So most of us often order from there. I have tried kimchi fried rice with pork. It's one of my favorites here. Nice spicy flavor and I like the texture of the fried rice. Fried egg is icing on the cake. Highly recommend this one. A couple of my friends order pad Thai and Mongolian beef. They said they liked it too. We have also dined in once. Service was great. Ambiance is nice as well. It's easy to find parking in this area after 6:30 pm.

Meh. We were asked to seat ourselves but every other party was seated by a hostess. That was a bit unsettling. We went on a Friday night, so it was pretty lively. The mango sticky rice wasn't my favorite. The rice tasted dry and a few days old. The bulgogi boa buns were great! I also had the kimchi bowl which was so good. I'm not a huge fan of kimchi, but this was perfect. Lastly, we had the spicy crunchy salmon rolls. No complaints with that either.

Haven't been back here for a while now even though it is within walking distance in my neighborhood. Or maybe because it's in the neighborhood you tend to forget that it's there. But so many other restaurants in the area have closed including a Japanese one we used to go to, so suddenly remembered that Spices actually serves pretty good Japanese food even though it's known as an Asian restaurant. So came here for dinner one evening, not too busy around 6 or so (their happy hour is from 4-6:30 pm. We had shrimp tempura and sashimi Matsu, both priced a lot more than I remembered - the tempura is now $28.50 and the sashimi over $30. But the food quality is quite good, the sashimi super fresh, and the tempura with crispy non greasy batter. The place also seems to be fixed up a bit since our last visit, decor and furnishings all in good condition, clean and with good spacing of tables and friendly staff. This has now become one of the longer standing and very dependable restaurants in our neighborhood. Definitely worth coming back more often.

Pad Thai Noodles . Eat with your chopsticks, your fork or fingers.. jk jk. But it is sooo good. You can't go wrong with Chicken pad Thai.

You can relax here at a high top table, booth or outside with some shade! Happy hour can truly be a happy hour. However, my favorite thing to do is get a Thai iced tea with vanilla vodka. Yummmmm. Don't knock it until you've tried it!! Great service, Wanda. You always remember what I want or what I ordered fives times ago! I've been here so much I could basically tell you about everything on the menu, okay, maybe not EVvvverything, but pretty darn close. Enjoyed some sushi and Pad Thai this evening :) I don't think Cleveland Park would be the same without this yummy and delightful place. Check out the curry laksa (sp?!) in the noodle section-- it's one of my favorites!

Well well well, what can I say about my fav sushi place in DC. I am soo glad my friend introduced me to this spot. I am obsessed with the fresh cucumber and avocado rolls I always get. Another great item I always get is the scallion pancake. Which here is called spring onion cake. They are a good size and comes with three pancake type cakes. I have say inside and outdoors and both areas are very chill and relaxing. One of the waiters named Wanda even remembers me when I come visit DC. He also remembers my order and that I have food allergies. He is great and super nice.

My cousins, girlfriend, and I popped into a little shop nearby, and we decided to grab lunch & a drink while we were parked. We figured we couldn't go wrong with sushi, and we very much so enjoyed our lunch. We started with drinks, and then had the kimchi veggie potstickers (very yummy, but not quite enough kimchi), and then veggie sushi (were vegetarians, and they had many options). We mostly made our own sushi by asking the server if they had certain things. Overall, it was a good meal, we had good service, and the ambiance was nice. They had outdoor & indoor seating, and the indoor seating had the doors all open to get fresh air- it was quite nice! We would definitely return.

Great for happy hour. A lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Great utilization of space. I'd definitely return for happy hour or even for dinner to explore the menu. Service is wonderful. Staff is so nice and friendly.

The godfather, it's an offer you can't refuse!

Delicious food and wonderful service! A cozy atmosphere for chilling, grabbing a drink, and enjoying a wonderful time with friends and family. Come down Thursday to Sunday for happy hour and get some super yummy food and cocktail! Shout out to Wanda, our waiter!

I don't even know how to describe the energy in this place, but you can just feel it the moment you walk in. The restaurant has a dark aesthetic that gives it such a cool, cozy ambiance. My daughter and I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons. Everything was so filling that we ended up ordering another bowl of the Dan Dan noodles! And honestly, I still crave them. The Dan Dan noodles were SO good. The sauce was the perfect combination of creamy and spicy, and there was a generous amount of minced pork that balanced everything out really well. The wontons paired perfectly with the chili sauce that came with them! They were spicy--my ears turned red and my nose started running--but I literally could not stop going back for another bite. Even the wontons alone were incredibly filling. I don't live anywhere near this place, and I genuinely wish I did. I traveled pretty far to get here, and I'd absolutely do it again. This was one of those meals that stays on your mind long after you've left!

The beef tenderloin (forgot what they called it) with the potatoes on the side. The beef tenderloin was cooked medium well and tasted so good, don't let it it sit because it can get a little cold quickly. The potatoes were soft fried and had a nice kick with the sauce. I want to try the spicy lamb next time. Paired it with the kemuri cocktail, a mezcal that hints of smokiness but sweet. Ended with one scoop of mango sorbet. My date got the chicken skewers and the grilled salmon well done, it was good but a little dry. Ended with the chocolate fondue with vanilla bean that just melted in your mouth. Parked it all with a Long Island ice tea top shelf. Thank you TJ for serving us and being attentive. It's located right y the street so you can't miss it. You walk in and they have a display of all their whisky. It's intimate but they have plenty room for group settings. Loved the decor especially the fire windows. Can't wait to come back!

You can tell how adventurous everyone was by the variety of desserts we ordered. Some had a perfect Japanese twist, especially the matcha tiramisu and yuzu cheesecake. I went for the buffet brunch at Dear Sushi. I'm not a hugh sushi eater but I loved the cooked stuff. I'm not super adventurous on the raw lol. The buffet is $65 and a 20% gratuity is added. The price was ok with me. There were plenty of food options for me to chose from and the service was good. We sat the bar, Jose and Molly were awesome and mixed up some delicious drinks. The food was delicious. Highlights for me were the fried chicken ( not sure of the correct name), milk bread (had to limit myself, I love bread lol), dumplings ( could have takien the whole tray lol), grilled salmon, and the tempura cauliflower. Another standout was the donuts from the dessert section. These donuts were so lite and airy. Almost guilt free when you bit into them. I would definitely return for brunch or to try out one of the other spots.

I really liked the concept of one "old school" and one "new school" style of the same fish. But, the sushi just didn't live up to the hype. First, the pieces of fish were way too big. The fish was far larger than the rice and very difficult to eat. More like 2-3 bites. Also, some fish had skin on - which I know is a chef's choice - but I found it very unappetizing. Had to choke those down. And the "new school" hand-roll had imitation crab in it. So odd and doesn't feel upscale. We enjoyed the frozen strawberry for dessert. They're super cute and tasty.
