    Scallion pancake

Really simple small restaurant. I find that this is more of a take away place, but sitting down I got to really absorb the quaint nature of the restaurant and appreciate the menu items they did have. They are most known for their mooncakes so do take advantage of buying this hard-to-make pastry. I pass by here at work often and see their roast case and its so tempting. Although there isnt really a table service, this quickly became a low frills place. All the dimsum we did recieve came in take out containers, but they were all well made and flavorful. I especially enjoyed their scallion pancake! It was so flakey I had to take a picture of the thinness of each layer. I really love the braise of their chicken feet, its a great flavor and it came soaking in its braising sauce. I would come here for a hot meal, its quick and simple, and mostly affordable. I would treat this more as a cafe for mornings and lunch.

Pineapple moon cake, Guava punch from Vietnam. We ate everything else before taking a picture.

The food in this small place was simple yet very good. The dining room was neat and cozy. The service was excellent. Although you must order at the kitchen counter, a waitress will bring the meal to your table. The food was served in disposable carry out bowls and plates, but it tasted fine regardless.

Small shop, quick ordering and they bring the food to you. We got the general tsos chicken and chicken and broccoli. General tsos was good, larger chunks than usual. I wouldn't suggest the chicken and broccoli. Chicken dumplings were also good. Overall there's not many positive reviews for any of the classic affordable Chinese food places in the area, this looked like our best bet so that's why we came here.

Sweet and sour chicken, cheese won tons.

Sweet and sour chicken was delicious! Order at the counter and quick prep. Sweet-and-sour chicken and steamed rice were exactly as expected. The cheese wontons are more like crab Rangoon's but we're pretty runny. Was looking for a good egg roll, but they only have spring rolls... Would probably try those instead of the cheese wontons next time.

Popped in here for lunch last weekend with my friend who was craving Chinese food and we really enjoyed it! It's not fancy inside and everything comes in to-go containers, even if you're dining in, but the real focus is the food. I ordered the broccoli in garlic sauce and the sweet and sour chicken, based on the Yelp reviews I saw and both were very good! The broccoli was still crisp and not mushy and the garlic sauce was delicious. The chicken was nicely fried (nice thin batter) and they served the sauce separately so the chicken didn't get soggy. Both entrees came with rice. The portions were quite generous, so I ended up being happy they pre-packed it in to-go containers so I could take it home easily. Made for great leftovers too! Service was quick and the prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food you get. I'll definitely come back!

The broth was beefy, flavorful, and super hot, the noodles were a hint of chew and bouncy just like I like it. The beef and tendons were super juicy and tender; all together everything was a perfect bowl of beef noodles soup. The sticky rice was just okay. The place is small and cozy and the service was very homely and welcoming.

I wanted some authentic fried rice and finally got my fix!!! I wish this place was by my house because I'd be eating this rice everyday!! There's nothing better than some good rice and it's so hard to find it in my Montgomery county. I got the combination fried rice and it was amazing! Shrimp. Chicken. And beef lol. I'll definitely make it a point to stop here more often when I'm in the city. I just did a quick pickup order for the rice so I don't have much to say about the service or the layout.

While the restaurant is small, and right off of the busy road. IIt offered a cozy and welcoming atoatmosphere. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful with our orders. The food was really tasty and was prepared to orderl. The steamed soup buns were sooooo good and I had to get a second order before leaving our meal. The chicken in garlic sauce was really flavorful and was something I would get again. The Beef Szechuan was alright but I would probably choose something else next time as it wasn't as flavorful as everything else. All around great section for the evening.

Great beef noodles. Came for dinner on a weekday and it wasn't very busy. The beef was tender and flavorful with the right mix of spices and salt. The portion is typical of DC and pricing around $15-20 for most items after tax. You order at the counter and they call your number for food. It's all disposable wear and you can remove your own trash. Casual, quick, and good.

The food came out quickly and it was so good. It was so affordable as well and right in the middle of gallery place. Hope to make it back on a less hot day!

    Pork Dumplings / (6 pcs)

Stayed at a local hotel and wanted some quick food on my way to a show at the arena. Joy Luck House is one of those hidden spots that people probably overlook because it's not aesthetically appealing. However, the quality, service, prices and most importantly, taste of the food makes up for it all. I love Chinese food, but wasn't that hungry so I ordered a bunch of dumplings: pork (fried, 6pcs), chicken (fried, 6pcs) and shrimp. Each of them, delicious. While I was there, there were so many DoorDash and UberEats drivers coming in and out to pick up food and it's just so telling of how delicious the food was. I have to say that the boba was decent. I think it'll satisfy the craving because the bubbles themselves were good. The tea however, I could say otherwise. The black milk tea tasted traditional and was good, but the honeydew milk tea tasted artificial. Definitely not a boba spot, but good to satisfy a craving or to accompany the food.

Overpriced sweet treats. Egg tart had good flavor but it was cold and stuck to the tin. One moon cake was $5. It was good but, $5!

If a place delivers strong execution, quality flavors, and exceeds expectations for what it is trying to be, that earns a top rating from me. Chili Wok did exactly that. We recently visited Alexandria and had an excellent meal from start to finish. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well prepared, and arrived tasting fresh and intentional. The soup dumplings were a standout. The wrappers held together nicely, the filling was savory and juicy, and each bite had that satisfying burst of broth you hope for when ordering them. The fried rice was also very well done. It had great wok flavor, proper texture, and did not feel greasy or heavy, which is where many places miss the mark. The sweet and sour ribs were another highlight. They had a great balance of sweetness and tang, with tender meat and enough texture to keep them interesting. A dish that can sometimes feel one note was handled really well here. Beyond the food, the overall experience was strong. When every dish lands and nothing disappoints, that says a lot about the consistency of the kitchen. Overall, Chili Wok delivered exactly what I hope for in this category: flavorful food, solid technique, and an enjoyable dining experience. Easy 5 stars, and I would gladly return.

I was in the Del Ray area and decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. On the drive home, the aroma of the Ganghood chicken filled the car and had me eager to dig in. Even after about a 20-minute drive, the chicken was still tender with a light crisp. The seasoning was spot on, with the perfect balance of heat and that signature Szechuan peppercorn numbness. The only downside was that the rice portion was a bit small. The dan dan noodles were also very good--well coated in sauce and mixed nicely with the minced pork. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. If you're a fan of spicy Chinese food or dishes with a numbing peppercorn kick, this place is definitely worth trying. I'd happily come back again.

I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot.
