The Service/Space: When I got here it was moderately busy with about 3 people waiting for their orders. There are some tables and chairs in the space, but mainly as a waiting room. I don't imagine a lot of people actually sitting and dining in here. The cashier was really nice and it is a typical order over the counter without bullet proof glass. My order took about 10 - 15 minutes. The Food: Compared to other Chinese take-out restaurants in the Petworth area, I feel like Dannie's gives you the least amount of food for the highest price point. However, I ordered the sesame chicken combination and fried wontons. The sesame chicken was good but didn't stand out compared to other places in the area. The fried wontons were pretty standard as well, but they did give a lot of sauce which was nice. Overall, Dannie's wouldn't be my top choice in the area, but it is pretty standard if I'm in the area.

a takeout container with rice and shrimp

This place is not clean. I placed an order for shrimp fried rice and it came in a filthy and disgusting container with visible dirt on the inside rim. Save yourself from food poisoning and just don't eat here.

I found my wings and mumbo sauce to be pretty uneventful. Not the really sweet mumbo sauce and not the one that taste like catsup. It was mumbo sauce. I think I will be back to try the lunch special. Orange chicken because I see they use peels which I like. Much respect on not having bullet proof glass.

General Tso's Chicken lunch special with pork fried rice

Pros: Chicken is crispy, sauce good, broccoli fresh, and I like the pork fried rice. You can customize the spiciness (mild, med, spicy, very spicy)... I got spicy and can taste a hint of spiciness, but I don't think I would have noticed it at all had I not made a selection, it tastes pretty normal still. I give the Gen Tso chicken and pork fried rice combo a solid 4 stars... Not the best I've ever had, but better than other places I've tried in my area and I would order again if I had a craving. Cons: The eggroll that came with the lunch special was small and mushy inside. I will not order the steamed dumplings again, they're very bland and the dumpling sauce (which I normally order independent of dumplings to put on my fried rice) is terrible... it tastes super diluted... like a slightly oily soy-colored water, no flavor at all... very, very strange. Dumplings... 0 stars... yucks. Also, where are the fortune cookies?!

Solid Chinese. Not fancy or amazing, but tasty and fast. Our favorites were the egg rolls and General Tso's chicken.

Came here for lunch with a friend on a weekend. We ate family style and ordered the scallion…read morepancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

You can also order online ahead and pick it up. Super easy. Just go directly to their website. I feel like they do takeout pretty well.

I called and placed a order for delivery at 7:45pm and a female answered, told me it should be about 70 minutes (a bit over an hour) I said that was fine and received a tracking text for my delivery driver, ETA and time frame. Almost two and a half hours go by, so I call to check the status of my order. A man picks up and tells me "oh,yeah, I don't know let me transfer you over the manager" it was the same woman who originally took my order, she must have new what I was calling for because she repeated my address without me reminding her and said "oh sorry I don't know where the driver is at." So I then asked her "should I cancel and look somewhere else to pay if you don't know where staff is,especially since our neighborhood shops close early?" And she tells me " no,no we didn't forget about you our driver is just slow getting to you" (im only 12-14mins away by car) so I say ok,I'll wait. Then i received a new order text to my phone of my order being cancelled and restarting at a new time...at this point it's very unprofessional to me as a guest as well as their business. All they had to do was be transparent and honest that they couldn't take to go orders if they're short staff or bad at communicating with driving staff. I order from them alot and this was the worst they've ever been. Usually the woman has a bad tone on the phone and i ignore it but combined with that and the lack of hospitality and care for a paying costumer, flabbergasted. so I ordered from Johnny's carry out not to far from them and it was promt and organized.

Han Palace is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and there are two main reasons why:…read morethe portions and the drinks. First, the food portions here are astronomical. I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot.

This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants.
