Hmmm... Twin Dragon Carryout was sent my way as a recommendation. So, I set off one sunny afternoon to give them a try and see if any of the hype was real ( FYI: It Was ! ) This is definitely your definition of a neighborhood hole in the wall spot. With that being said, I have to give them their props because the food was actually really good. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and shrimp egg rolls. No doubt the shrimp fried rice was one of the best I ever tasted from any where. The rice was delicious and had its own flavorful texture. While the shrimps were a nice size ( nothing like most smallish shrimps I've seen in these carryout boxes ) and their egg rolls are healthy in size as well... I'm talking filled and crisped to perfection. So, if I'm passing that part of the city I will definitely stop by again !!! ( try it !! ) read more

I don't care what the reviews say--this is the only place in the area that still makes real eggrolls. Not those tiny, half-filled ones--these are full-on, hearty, sandwich-style eggrolls packed with flavor. 10 out of 10. I haven't tried anything else on the menu because I come here just for these. If you're an eggroll lover, you need to give them a try! read more

Maybe it was an off day, because we've been before. The egg rolls had a taste like the oil was past its lifespan. The pork in the pork fried rice also have an off taste. $27 for food we couldn't eat. read more

Food was great. However, for some reason the employees all have nasty attitudes. When people are spending their money, you can't treat your customers like crap for no reason. And you better not call this place, or one specific Chinese Lady will get Very Nasty with you , if you inquire about too many meals they sell. I strongly feel like, If your having a bad day, you should leave it at home, and NEVER take it out on your customers, because WE don't owe you NOTHING!! This is one major thing that Will cause Twin Dragon to loose it's customers. I'm very disappointed!! read more

This business was a small family business they fucked it up. The rice and egg rolls are not the same. They should do it right or close the fuck down they never sold chicken wings and fries it was chine food only..so sad RIP to the original TWIN DRAGON read more

Soooo, my father ONLY took us to TWIN DRAGON! My roots originate in China so Daddy had his picks in America... with the last name CHAN, you can't expect anything less! Since The EARLY 70's, TWIN DRAGON served original Chinese cuisine. No chicken wings, no subs, etc. they had an old chalk board (black board with white chalk), actually two, with the FULL menu! Fast forward to today, YES I AGREE with the service being VERY different BUT my favorite, Pepper Steak, and 2nd favorite, egg foo yung, still has most of the flavoring that keeps me coming back when I'm in the area. What I will do (as Mr. W. mentioned in his review) the next time that I visit in person, is verbally inform the person with the unpleasant attitude at the front is share what this restaurant means to the community and the legacy that it carries. OTHERWISE, I will boycott it and SHARE to others to do the same!! #sayless #ImonIT! read more

2 shrimp egg rolls and a half & half. Always my order. That's the review, that's the post.

I grew up in that area in 1960s/70s. Whenever you wanted Chinese food, Twin Dragon was the place to go...or you go to Seven Seas on Georgia Ave, which wasn't as good. I knew family who operated Twin Dragon back then....the father, the children, the grans. They were such nice people. When I was kid, if I only had a dollar, i would go there just to get fried rice and gravy and a Coke....it was heavenly! The father would make it especially for me. Pepper steak was another one of my favorites...with real steak, green peppers, red peppers, yellow peppers, and onions. When was in the neighborhood a couple of weeks ago, I stopped in. I hadn't been there in over 5 decades!! I was surprised it was still there after all these years and it hadn't changed much, although it was under new management/owners. The tables they used to have were gone and replaced with just a few chairs. In the old days, you could eat in. And, for what it is worth, it was NOT as friendly as I remembered. The original owners were part of the community, and everyone knew them and they knew us. You could walk in, and they knew what you wanted right away. So, I decided to order the pepper steak and an egg roll....the no longer had rice and gravy! LOL! Well, to be honest, I was really disappointed. The pepper steak was not appetizing...more onions than anything, including steak. And,the egg roll was ginormous and full of cabbage...not what I remembered from back in the day. It was crunchy, but that is the only good thing I can say about it. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Times change, people change, places change. I will just savor the old memories that I have. read more

Over the years this establishment has lost some of its "yum" factor. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty good but now I only go for the ginormous egg rolls (they've even gotten a tad smaller). The customer service is ok and that's all I can say about this. read more

I lived in DC over 40 years ago. My family would get food from Twin Dragon at least once a week. I heard that the previous owners sold the restaurant, and the food was still delicious. I traveled to DC to visit my mother. She was craving Chinese food and suggested I go to Twin Dragon. It is strictly a carryout. I called in my order. When I arrived, I walked up to a large plexiglass counter top. I informed the person behind the counter that I was picking up my order. He went to the back and produced a bag and pushed it through the small opening in the plexiglass. My mother had the chicken chow mein. I didn't see her order and can't comment on it. I ordered 2 chicken egg rolls. I recall as a child getting egg rolls at Twin Dragon. They were divine. My family always craved the eggrolls, they were always delicious. Once I arrived home, I couldn't wait to rip open the bag to eat my eggrolls. What I immediately noticed, that the eggrolls had doubled in size. The eggrolls we purchased at Twin Dragon when I was a child were small. These eggrolls were huge. I took my first bite and had a mouth full of cabbage. The next bite the same. I thought hmm, maybe 3 bites a charm. Nope. The third bite, a mouth full of cabbage. I cut the eggroll open to see nothing but cabbage. Perhaps they misunderstood my order? I ordered chicken eggrolls, not vegetarian ones. These eggrolls were horrible! I threw them in the trash. What a waste of $6. for two eggrolls. They were tasteless and filled with cabbage. I will never eat here again. read more

Cooked to order. No steam table. I like that! Typical, but likable neighborhood carryout!

Service is always in the dumps. The young guy with glasses .. never speaks... is rude and unappreciative of the patronage. The egg rolls are always good but he acts so miserable. you would think he would be grateful as his family makes a mint off of the community... #gottafindanewspot read more

Not sure what all the low reviews on this place are all about, but Twin Dragon Carry-Out was pretty tasty! Their menu is extensive, offering apps, soup, fried rice, lo mein, chow mein, chop suey, chow mei fun, egg foo young, curry dishes, garlic sauce dishes, broccoli dishes, Szechuan/Hunan dishes, sweet & sour dishes, house specialties, and lunch specials that are available everyday besides Sunday. I had heard that this place is the go-to for egg rolls, so we decided to check them out on a weekend; we ordered: +a Pork Roll - rather than the use of ground pork, there were actually char siu-like chunks of pork throughout; there could have been more meat, as it was more cabbage heavy +a Shrimp Roll - had whole deveined shrimp throughout the egg roll (about 2 or so?) +a Steak Cheese Roll - definitely tasted like a steak and cheese sub, but in an egg roll form, with an addition of shredded cabbage +Shrimp Fried Rice - there is a small and a large size available, in which I opted for the small; the fried rice slightly has a sweet taste to it; it had generous amounts of deveined shrimp, which was great! Definitely more on the greasier side, it tasted much better with an addition of extra soy sauce and chili oil +Chicken Fried Rice - there is a small and a large size available, in which we opted for the small The egg rolls were definitely the star - everything was made-to-order, so the rolls were piping hot. I definitely liked that it had contained a higher ratio of the cabbage, and adding the duck sauce and/or the hot mustard jazzed it up a bit. The egg rolls were crispy and on the larger size, and we wished we had gone for the double order rather than the single order! Definitely returning for those egg rolls! Staff were friendly and efficient. They have a minimum for CC, so try to bring cash as well. Note that this place is only a carry-out, so you can call for a to-go order and/or place an order in person. There are a few chairs inside for waiting. Limited street parking available in the area. +tasty egg rolls! +friendly service +limited street parking available in the area read more

Vile, vile, vile tasting. One star is too generous. I would take a half inch eggroll over the bland, wet, and pointlessly big eggrolls they offer. Food had the slightest note and hinting of pine sol. Not even joking. Ate a few bites of everything and then it all went in the trash. read more

Lunch specials here are very reasonably priced. Ordered two specials and both were good. Egg rolls here were huge. Only wished the shrimp fried rice had a bit more shrimp. It had a good amount but I ordered shrimp fried rice as my lunch special and hoped because it was my main entree it would have had more shrimp. Otherwise super yummy. I'd return again and recommend especially if you love egg rolls. read more

This business is living off its old reputation. It is not the Twin Dragon of the past . I ordered shrimp, fried rice and shrimp egg foo yong both were horrible. The shrimp were small and squishy. The gravy had a putrid taste. The egg patty was burnt on the bottom. They tried to tell me it was because they used oil to cook it with. I've been eating egg foo yong for over 40 years. I know what it's supposed to be and this was not it. The fried rice was overcooked as well. I'm done with this spot. I gave it two stars because they got the dust off the walls. One of the best where you can get good Chinese food and it's fresh you won't be disappointed

Oh man. This place is in my neighborhood, and I really, really wanted to like them, but I just can't. I don't know if the woman really doesn't understand English, or just pretends to when she doesn't want to speak with you, but I suspect the latter. Anyway. I've ordered food from them that came with MOLD on the vegetables THREE different times! I just ordered a vegetable fried rice, ($9, which is waayyyy too much for this kind of place) and it was 90% dark, crunchy, horribly burnt rice, 5% moldy old mushrooms and pea pods with gray/black spots all over them, and 5% palatable veg (although some of it was also burnt.) Odd flecks of dried up egg. Completely oozing oil. I know DC Chinese can be hit or miss, but c'mon Twin Dragon. You can do better. Egg rolls look amazing, but are usually greasy and cold. read more

Twin Dragon Carry Out - Moldy veg, burnt rice. Awful. - Chinese Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

In my opinion this is the #1 spot for Chinese takeout in this area. It's consistently tasty and always great quality. Don't be deterred by their lack of enthusiasm during over the phone orders. read more

Okay those egg rolls are no joke. I just ate the egg rolls and I'm full so I ended up saving my entrees for tomorrow. The fried rice is nicely priced and on point. It's not mushy or flavorless like at other places. The only way to make it better is if it had wok hei flavor which I rarely encounter in takeout Chinese these days. Now why it lost a star is the wet sauce laden mess for my chicken with mushrooms stir fry. I was expecting something more similar to panda express's chicken with mushrooms but instead it's very dark and viscous. The mushrooms either were not very fresh or they were overcooked. read more

This is a Bright wood Park historical landmark this Chinese food traditional carry out first open during the Nixon administration .... Yes at first original family was known for hand rolling there burrito sized shrimp , chicken and pork egg rolls , As well as they're very heavyweight fully loaded lo mein and fried rice ... Since 2017 the family that originally owned this place for the first 50 years sold it to another family and they sold the recipe of the eggrolls and rice but unfortunately the quality control has gone down from the original twin dragon that was here for now 60 years it's all about the egg rolls combination Fried rice and combination lo mein read more

OK first things first I'm an Asian food connoisseur!! my favorite is Asian ANYTHING. With that being said, let's start off with the positives... huge eggroll, crispy and delicious and a wonderful, shrimp, egg, foo, young, and delicious gravy. I highly recommend those two. I also ordered a garlic sauce of combo meats and that definitely needs some work. I didn't taste any garlic. In fact, it was pretty sweet which was odd for me. I've ordered plenty of garlic sauce dished in my lifetime and I must say it was never anything like this. I probably won't order it again if I go back. Friendly service for the neighborhood.. as I was waiting for my food to be cooked, there was a homeless guy peeing on the side of the building. :) read more
