3 piece with fried rice and mambo sauce on the side

This is an HU staple. They have upgraded the inside since I was a student to where it is pickup only. The service is always quick considering they are almost always busy. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. We love it here and come back every time we're in town!

If you went to HU, you already know! As my Homecoming ritual, I stop here before going to the yard!! Now my fam n love coming here. A few blocks away from the Mecca... bring cash! My must haves: Wings with fries + extra mumbo sauce!! .35 extra! Philly egg rolls with mumbo sauce for dipping!! Extra lrg house made ice tea n lemonade!! The owners are nice, I think the kids now run it, cuz its not the same owner of when I went to HU.

Staple of DC for years. I don't get here often but am always pleased when I do. A carryout doing its best in carryout. Get the cheesestesk egg roll and wings w/fries. Cash only, but there's two atms on site. Fast service. A perfect hole in the wall.

Hole in the wall place. It's small and it looks run down but let me tell you, this place is LEGIT! Best cheap Chinese place around the area. The Philly egg roll was the best I've ever tried and let me start with the chicken with mumbo sauce. It was fantastic, the chicken was crispy and hot and their mumbo sauce is fire. The portions were huge and it did not disappoint. Crab Rangoon were filled with goodness and crispy. This place is a bang for your buck. It's only cash only so be aware of that (ATM inside if needed). Overall, 5/5, it's cheap eats and great Chinese food. Best mumbo chicken w/ fried rice and Philly egg roll!

Ordered takeout from here and it was delicious!! I got the Shrimp Hanan and it was so flavorful and was a great deal for $7. I love that they actually put a good amount of veggies in it too. The food was ready within 15min and packed nicely!! The only downside is they only accept cash

If I has to describe this food in one word: BUSSIN! Everything was so good from the crispy chicken wings to the French fries with the Mumbo Sauce on the side for your dipping pleasure. The platter is inexpensive, under 10$. Where can you find that now a days for whole chicken wings and French fries? I would recommend anyone looking for a cheap affordable bite to eat. Go on down to Howard China, you won't be disappointed.

Coming from the West Coast, I didn't know there was a difference in how people do Chinese takeout/carry out. I usually wouldn't order wings and fries at a Chinese place but now I will be every time I can! The mambo sauce is a game changer! The wings and fries are crispy and delicious. We also got Lo Mein and you can't go wrong with that. They gave generous portions and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

Reservations are encouraged as this place does get busy and it leads to the phone not being answered. Small staff but big hearts for the customers. I've enjoyed the high level of customer service during my visits. Can we talk about the pork belly? Chiillle, it runs out fast so go early. If they do run out, the soy garlic chicken dish will get you right. The mixologists do a kick butt job on the drinks and there are non-alcoholic options if you're not in a getting tipsy mood. I was pleased with the different flavors and portion sizes. There may have been one dish that I wasn't over the moon about, and even then it was still edible. The manager will come to discuss any substitutions if they run out of an item. When this happens, they more than make up for it by offering something comparably delicious. There was steady flow of diners coming and going for takeout as well as dine in. The service was exceptional and personable. The one thing that I appreciate about Chinese food is the preparation involved in its cuisine. Many of these Chinese seem too time consuming or complicated to recreate at home. I always enjoy trying new dishes given the variety of regions. While the last two dishes we ordered had two to three chili pepper indicators, they weren't spicy to me. My cycling companion, on the other hand, got to experience the mouth numbing flavors of Schezuan food for the first time and said his mouth was on fire. Meanwhile, I loved the texture and flavors of the duck blood dish. The dish's name probably doesn't sound the most appetizing to the general public but I wanted to try something unique and was impressed. I had no idea Chinese cuisine had duck blood in their dish!
