4 piece wings and fries with Mumbo sauce on the fries.
Jonesha M.

After doing a little research looking for the best mumbo sauce, this place came up a lot so myself and my kids took an Uber to get some. First thoughts it was small, but I was also excited because little corner places like that have the best food. We went about 1:30pm. There were about 5 people ahead of us, no eating area. Prices were fair, I forgot they only accepted cash so he gave me his Zelle info. There is also an ATM. The food was fresh and flavorful. The mumbo sauce was delicious! My daughter got the lo mein lunch special and my song got wings and fries. It was definitely worth the trip!

This is an HU staple. They have upgraded the inside since I was a student to where it is pickup only. The service is always quick considering they are almost always busy. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. We love it here and come back every time we're in town!

If you went to HU, you already know! As my Homecoming ritual, I stop here before going to the yard!! Now my fam n love coming here. A few blocks away from the Mecca... bring cash! My must haves: Wings with fries + extra mumbo sauce!! .35 extra! Philly egg rolls with mumbo sauce for dipping!! Extra lrg house made ice tea n lemonade!! The owners are nice, I think the kids now run it, cuz its not the same owner of when I went to HU.

Staple of DC for years. I don't get here often but am always pleased when I do. A carryout doing its best in carryout. Get the cheesestesk egg roll and wings w/fries. Cash only, but there's two atms on site. Fast service. A perfect hole in the wall.

Hole in the wall place. It's small and it looks run down but let me tell you, this place is LEGIT! Best cheap Chinese place around the area. The Philly egg roll was the best I've ever tried and let me start with the chicken with mumbo sauce. It was fantastic, the chicken was crispy and hot and their mumbo sauce is fire. The portions were huge and it did not disappoint. Crab Rangoon were filled with goodness and crispy. This place is a bang for your buck. It's only cash only so be aware of that (ATM inside if needed). Overall, 5/5, it's cheap eats and great Chinese food. Best mumbo chicken w/ fried rice and Philly egg roll!

Ordered takeout from here and it was delicious!! I got the Shrimp Hanan and it was so flavorful and was a great deal for $7. I love that they actually put a good amount of veggies in it too. The food was ready within 15min and packed nicely!! The only downside is they only accept cash

If I has to describe this food in one word: BUSSIN! Everything was so good from the crispy chicken wings to the French fries with the Mumbo Sauce on the side for your dipping pleasure. The platter is inexpensive, under 10$. Where can you find that now a days for whole chicken wings and French fries? I would recommend anyone looking for a cheap affordable bite to eat. Go on down to Howard China, you won't be disappointed.

Coming from the West Coast, I didn't know there was a difference in how people do Chinese takeout/carry out. I usually wouldn't order wings and fries at a Chinese place but now I will be every time I can! The mambo sauce is a game changer! The wings and fries are crispy and delicious. We also got Lo Mein and you can't go wrong with that. They gave generous portions and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Overall it's not a bad spot, but it just didn't exceed where I hoped it would, and while the food didn't really shine, neither did the service. The space is really awesome, and the menu gives you a lot of hope. But fewer hits than expected. The Crab Wontons were out, the jeau lanh (sp?) was not bad, but not that great, the char siu pork was my favorite, but the fried rice and noodles were not cooked at a high enough temperature to taste remotely authentic. Cocktail list looked awesome, cocktails were all just fine, we had 4 of them. Best dish was the monkey bread for dessert! Probably won't be back, but not a horrible spot.

If a place delivers strong execution, quality flavors, and exceeds expectations for what it is trying to be, that earns a top rating from me. Chili Wok did exactly that. We recently visited Alexandria and had an excellent meal from start to finish. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well prepared, and arrived tasting fresh and intentional. The soup dumplings were a standout. The wrappers held together nicely, the filling was savory and juicy, and each bite had that satisfying burst of broth you hope for when ordering them. The fried rice was also very well done. It had great wok flavor, proper texture, and did not feel greasy or heavy, which is where many places miss the mark. The sweet and sour ribs were another highlight. They had a great balance of sweetness and tang, with tender meat and enough texture to keep them interesting. A dish that can sometimes feel one note was handled really well here. Beyond the food, the overall experience was strong. When every dish lands and nothing disappoints, that says a lot about the consistency of the kitchen. Overall, Chili Wok delivered exactly what I hope for in this category: flavorful food, solid technique, and an enjoyable dining experience. Easy 5 stars, and I would gladly return.

I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often.
