The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The menu is full of options for breakfast, brunch and dinner. I've only been there for brunch and dinner. They have a brunch deal of $45 for an entree and bottomless mimosas. The scramble was disappointing. It was listed as an entree but the portion was really like a side. If I didn't add the eggs it would've been extremely light. It also wasn't as flavorful. I don't see it on the menu anymore. The curried crab and squash soup was amazing. I'd get that anytime. It's packed with flavor, plenty of crab and it's a decent size. The poke nachos are solid. The steak tacos are bomb and the fried rice with chicks or salmon are also great. It's Valentine's Day. When we arrived we were warned they were backed up about 30 minutes and they only had 2 chefs. We waited an hour and a half for food to be served. Drinks also took a while to arrive. Servers were kind and kept apologizing. We ordered the cacio a Pepe and the wild mushroom truffle pasta. The cacio a Pepe was overly peppered and very oily. I got a Pinot Grigio while waiting for my takeout order of Cobb salad and chocolate cake (ultimate mom dinner). They don't have any vegetarian or vegan options but you can adapt some of the dishes to vegetarian by removing the meat option. Pricing was pretty steep (as you might expect at The Wharf) but the portion sizes were generous. I must say...Hilton Properties are amazing! There is nothing like the vibes in DC! I stayed on the Wharf and I felt right at home. The bells man were great, but they could use more carts to carry the luggage so you're not waiting as long. I did use the valet service to store my car for a week and I was able to retrieve my car as need be to run errands. Antonio I believe was a manager and he was very helpful. I needed to add a few days to my trip which I was unsuccessful via the app, but he made it a seamless process. After he explained everything to me, I went up to my room and loved everything about it. I would suggest having an item to leave on your door if the room is in need of linen, cleaning or simply more towels. I Love the Nespresso machine, as I own a barista and it's lovely. Now...let's get into Food & Happy Hour. Happy Hour is only for one hour at this location but at other Hilton Properties, Happy Hour is over a 2 hour period, so I was a little disappointed by that. On a separate day, I went up to the Cafe inside of the hotel and let me tell you, the individual who made my day great was the new night Manager. My server was horrible. I will not list her name because I did provide face to face pointers for her to hopefully learn from, however I was never checked on once she brought my food and drinks to the table. I had to place the napkin over my food and close out my tab inside. When I asked why I had not been checked on she said, "well I was busy...which it was not busy AT all" so the Night Shift manager made sure I was taken care of. I didn't ask for a discount or to have any food taken off of my order, I simply wanted the young lady to be more attentive to guests purchasing food. Stopped by canopy for brunch before heading to a day party at the wharf. They offer bottomless brunch for $45 pp with choice of entree. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the Hilton and has a beauty view of the waterfront. Food - We ordered the fruit plate for the table. Great presentation and some pretty fresh fruit paired with a berry yogurt. Love a nice grape! For entrees I had the fried chicken sandwich and my partner had the avocado toast. Really enjoyed both items. The fries that accompanied the sandwich were perfect, we couldn't stop eating them as you can see from my photo! The drinks were good, if you select the bottomless option you can choose from a selection of juices (apple, pineapple, orange, cranberry) to pair with champagne. Service - Our server was amazing. Attentive, friendly, and patient with our boisterous 7 person group. We were celebrating a friend's promotion. Our server brought out a slice of cake for the table! Dude, seriously. We get a $36 credit (for a double occupancy room) to be used here at any time of day. Our first day, we got the Big Mic burger and a wedge salad. (Paid $2 plus tip and attached the bill to the room.) This morning we just ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese sammie and the Avo Toast with bacon and egg. (Should be another $3 plus tip kinda bill.) The food is actually quite good! The wait staff is super awesome as well; many people on hand and so nice. The views outside are very nice. I can't recommend this place enough! For hotel food this place is pretty legit. I kept seeing the pizza in the afternoons but didn't get to try it. We did however try the breakfast and it was pretty darn good. The chicken and waffles is plenty to share between two people unless your really hungry. The chicken was seasoned perfectly. Took off a star bc if you are in a rush this is not the place to go but the people are friendly. Also the bar at night is A1. All the bartenders at night made me some delicious cocktails. Should've reviewed this place a while ago, because I stay at the Canopy whenever I'm in town for work and absolutely love both the food and service at the Central Canopy Cafe and Bar! Favorite dishes are the chicken lettuce wraps, poke nachos, El Guapos tacos, and crispy (sans breading) shrimp Cobb salad. Smash burgers good too - gotta figure out how they make that sauce - nom nom nom!! Drink wise, can't go wrong with the Pirate Jenny and love that they carry the High Noon seltzers, since I often like to limit my sugar/carb intake. Servers/bartenders are awesome, too! Definitely recommend this place for a bite/drink if you're down at the Wharf and/or visiting DC - won't disappoint! read more

We don't get down to the wharf much but wanted to find a place that had good food, service, views and was close to the Anthem. Canopy Central Cafe at the Hilton literally hit all the marks and it will now be our go-to whenever we are going to a show. The dining room is on the second level of the hotel and overlooks the water. Our host, Dagim and waiter Dayton were top notch when it comes to food service. Dagim had actually answered my call prior to arriving and was super friendly and answered all my questions regarding parking/reservations etc. I had read reviews on Yelp before arriving and someone said to ask for Eddie to make your pizza. I did ask Dagim as he was seating us if Eddie was working today and he said he was working but wasn't in that part of the restaurant today (they have another restaurant on-site - Whiskey Charlie). I was a little bummed but he assured me the chef on staff making pizza that evening was also fantastic. To my surprise about 10 minutes later, Dagim let me know he was able to borrow Eddie to come down and specially make our pizza!!!! Dayton was just as kind and friendly as our waiter. I can't say enough good things about our experience with the service, but also need to mention how incredible the PIZZA AND BIRRIA FRIES WERE! My husband and I were floored and the quality of this food and can't wait to return when we have more time and aren't rushing to a show to try some of the other offerings. And I can't forget to mention how CHEAP the draft beers were for this area! $6 IPAs and it wasn't even happy hour. Wow! Stayed at the Canopy hotel so this cafe was more or less convenient but honestly not the best service. My friend and I wanted to just get coffee one morning and it was 10:02 and they said they were closed for breakfast and won't reopen until brunch. I mean it was just coffee! I think if you're located inside a hotel, coffee should be more readily available but maybe it's a covid thing?! It was my first hotel stay since pre-covid. I did eventually get to try the coffee and it was $4/cup - decent coffee but pricey!! Another time we decided to do lunch here. We got seated outside and 20 minutes go by before anyone came over to take our orders. I got a chicken sandwhich and it was ok! Nothing great but I was hungry. I visited here every morning while staying at the hotel and each time I visited, my food was delicious, coffee was freshly brewed, and the staff...Shoutout to GiGi and everyone who always carried a positive demeanor whenever they approached guest. She was very attentive and made sure we had a great time. The view was good too. In terms of food, I loved it. The common thing was that seasoning and sauces were great. 139 days since the lockdown in DC and about a month since restaurants reopened we finally decided it's time to venture out for a sit down meal. Took a bike ride to the Wharf where just about all the restaurants are now open and most have pretty well distanced outdoor dining. However the best of the bunch in terms of the quality of distancing is the Canopy, with its upper floor dining room, terrace and balcony, a nice view of the harbor and boardwalk, high above all the foot traffic. On a Saturday during lunch time its spacious outdoor section is about half full although all the tables on the terrace under umbrellas were taken. However there were plenty of tables on the wrap around balcony and since it was a relatively balmy 85 degree day with partial cloud cover it was perfectly comfortable even when the sun was fully out. The brunch menu is brief but has a good selection of interesting dishes (they've done away with paper menus so you'll have to scan a QR code to see the selections). We had the Big Mic (burger), and Chicky Tendy Ceasar Salad (fried chicken). Both were pretty good and reasonably priced considering the very pleasant (and definitely safe feeling - all staff were masked) dining environment and the view. I wondered what safety measures they might use for the payment process but it was just normal - check comes in a folder and you pay with a credit card and have slips to sign. Overall this was a very positive first experience dining out after 4 months of lockdown and this is one venue that I'd happily return to in the months to come. read more

Is it a Sunday brunch issue or a general service issue? Seated quickly, great environment indoors with a nice breeze flowing through from outside, not too noisy, and most tables were full outside. I don't think there is a reason to wait 25 minutes for a glass of wine, most items were not available either. BTW.. if you are in the mood for flatbread for brunch - NOT until 5pm. We ordered the fruit plate.. The strawberries and pineapples were not fresh and caused brain freeze (not fresh), the guanos beef tacos were delicious... except the burned overcooked beef was less desirable and not enough salsa verde. I wonder if they were cooked twice due to the consistency? We asked the waitress about the Mediterranean salad and if it could be served on a bed of greens due to the description on the menu. She stated no, and from the photos, you can see the cucumber serving size is minimal and the greens are abundant. This salad looked great - and has a light vinaigrette dressing. The omelette and potato dish was average. This earned a two, because we waited so long for: our drinks, to order, for the food, and for the check. There was no rush to get us out. We were given bottles of mix drinks and refilled when empty. Juice options included orange juice, cranberry, grapefruit, apple juice, and pineapple. However, what took place at this restaurant is simply unacceptable. No major concerns about food, realizing that it is a hotel restaurant with a great view and nice patio to relax. However, when we got the check, there was a mismatch between the listed price of our drinks on the QR code menu and the check. When we mentioned it to the server, she apologized and said her manager "enters wrong prices sometimes." What do you expect? That she would bring a corrected check, right? That is not what happened. When you scan the QR code on the table (during the pandemic), the link takes you to a landing page that says the cafe and bar was voted "best food in the world." That may be an over exaggeration, but for hotel food, it's really good! My little family split the Burger Mic and an Italian sausage and pepperoni pizza. Both were great meals and the pizza was HUGE! Upon arrival the hostess was confusing. She stated that she could not seat us (a party of 2) for brunch without a reservation although we could see there were plenty of empty tables inside and outside. So I proceeded to make an impromtu reservation on open table (there were several time openings). So I was able to get seated after the hostess walked away and came back to the kiosk (waiting for the reservation to pop up). She seated us and we were in a cold shaded area so we asked to move. After moving to the new table we were instructed to sit, we did not get any service. No water, no utensils, nothing for 10 to 15 minutes. Once the waitress came over she brought us water and asked if we were ready to order. We placed our order and our food (pizza, French toast, and the scrambled eggs with bacon). The pizza was brought out in 7 minutes. And there was no way they just prepared it. The presentation was sloppy, the dough was raw, and barely any pepperoni. We waited for our other food hoping it would be better....and it sadly wasn't. My French toast was sad, pale, and had underripe sliced bananas along with a lovely small piece of hair in the syrup. The scrambled eggs had cheese in it which was not ordered and the bacon was overcooked. The highlight of the meal was the brioche bun which appeared to be housemade that we ordered with the eggs. The view was nice but not nice enough the distract you from the poor service and poor quality of food. Service was subpar. I had to get up and go get my check to pay and leave.
