I'm a sucker for rooftops -- but with rooftops, comes prices! But it's to be expected. Anyways, I showed up for an ugly sweater toy drive event... it's at the top of a hotel. It's pretty easy to hop on an elevator and make your way to the top floor. Once you get off, bathrooms are to the right, and the restaurant itself is to the left. The space is nice, and they have a vast outdoor area... but it was cold! There was a special menu and karaoke going on, so I went to the bar and got some water and an order of the jerk chicken skewers. Once I got my receipt, I noticed immediately that the skewers were charged the regular price and not the discounted one for the event. It got resolved, but it took 15 minutes. That aside, I really enjoyed the jerk chicken skewers... great flavor and texture. I can't speak on any other food, or tell you how the place is at its peak, but I bet it's a hot summer spot. The location is fabulous! IMO, one of the best views in the city! But the food is just mid. The wings aren't bad but aren't memorable. The fries are fantastic (the kind with the light breading), but that's not enough of a reason to visit a restaurant OR lounge. And there were just a couple of other options that also sounded pretty basic. I asked a woman if she would recommend the fish sandwich she was eating and she said "well...the tartar sauce is tasty." Nuff said. The espresso martini is fantastic, but the Old Fashioned is not good (and I am a huge Old Fashioned fan). Go for drinks, fries, and the view. I initially visited Perch (Inside the Cambria Hotel), for a friend's birthday celebration. I couldn't wait to check it out because it's only 10 minutes away from my crib. Unfortunately it was a rainy evening, so the festivities had to be moved inside to the ground level RowHouse restaurant. While there, I took the elevator up to the top floor to check out Perch and I instantly knew, "I'll Be Back" lol!! This may be the largest rooftop lounge, aside from the Watergate, in the city. Located a stones throw away from Nat's Park, Perch gives you great scenic and water views. The food is OUTSTANDING! The lamb chops matches any high end restaurant in the DMV. The lump crab cake sliders and the grilled octopus were just as delicious. A cool rooftop is my thing but this one definitely stands out from the rest! read more

Came here for a private event the venue is very nice . The bartenders were very friendly but my one shot of don julio resposado was $26 ..... parking is $20 if you valet other than that you have to find parking which I don't know how easy that is in DC. The food was good it was the party's food but they catered it I liked it. I didn't actually order anything. read more

What a great brunch. My friends and I came her for their bottomless brunch, it was a bit pricey but that's DC average now. We all got bottom less mimosas with their buffet and it was so filling. Their shrimp and grits were so yummy. I appreciate an intimate buffet style set up. The restaurant is on a roof top right by the soccer field and off of the highway. Our waiter was attentive and kept our drinks flowing. The chef even came out and we gave her rave kudos. We all left full and lovely due to the DJ who was having a set the day we went. read more

I've come for their brunch buffet on Sunday and that was good. I liked the food and music, but I came back Friday night just because I really like their rooftop. It's a great panoramic view of the city. They had a go go band performing, and a cover fee. I will say that the bouncer let me and my boyfriend in for a reduced cover because we weren't trying to pay to get in because we honestly had no clue there was an event going on. But, my critique comes with their limited lounge menu (only 4 items to choose from) and their drinks are overpriced. A strawberry margarita for $18!? That's insane. And it wasn't great. Also, my boyfriend and I noticed a lot of spiderwebs up on the rooftop, so they should make sure to dust these areas and not let them get neglected. The severs are very friendly, though. read more

I want to let you know that the three stars are because it's a black-owned business. This place is only a couple of weeks/a-month-old, so I'm being pretty generous with these three stars. If this weren't a black-owned business, they would have received two stars. Pros- The rooftop- the views are spectacular, which can help this place. I often found myself drifting off while sitting My waiter/ main host- Maurice, was my waiter, and unfortunately, I can't remember my male host, but they were wonderful and always ready to assist. My drink- I had a Boxcar with a sugar rim, and it was fantastic. My friends had Mimosas and Bellini's, and they weren't impressed at all. My drink was sweet with just the amount of strength to it. Con's- Service- we came through brunch, and our orders seem to take a long time. Food- I pretty much eat Avocado toast everywhere and was genuinely disappointed with this restaurant's choice and presentation. For 15 dollars, I was given a piece of toast smeared with Avocado with four roasted tomatoes and an egg. The price is similar to other places, but I usually receive a 3/4 to a whole Avocado sliced on bread. Also, I tasted my friend's Shrimp and Grits, and it tasted more like couscous or polenta and not grits, and she was highly disappointed. It was an unfortunate experience. Environment- We were outside on a roof on a 90 degree+ day. I was saddened not to see standard items that are at other restaurants/bars. There were no fans/cooling misters or umbrellas for hot days. In conclusion, this place has all of the makings of a great restaurant/bar. They need to beef up the food, service times, items to keep you comfortable, warm, and cold. read more

I came to perch for an event that was hosted and posted on Eventbrite. This is my first time here, and though I had an overall good experience, no way will I ever pay six dollars for water again. And also, there was a rude guy, whom the security says was a promoter that said his table was reserved. if there is a reservation of a table, there's usually a sign. There was no sign. We went to the Perch on a Thursday night to have drinks with a view and those boxes were checked! I got the margarita and we had a mini photo shoot with the view while we waited for our drinks. But that was the thing, we waaaited for our drinks. It took 30+ minutes for our drinks in a rather empty restaurant. However we chalked it up to the pandemic and capacity changes (it seemed like the hostess was also working as a server since she brought our drinks and sat us). The drinks were decent, as was the food! We ordered four things including the crab dip, sliders, and tacos. After sampling everything, we noticed the food sort of resembled Super Bowl finger food options. I probably wouldn't go again but did appreciate the views. I made reservations for when they first opened and that was a good idea. We arrived right after a big party with one little child. I make this know because the host mentioned that he just gave his last highchair away (we have a two year old). We walked through the restaurant to our outside table and I didn't see any other children. Ok, so just ONE highchair lol. However after a few minutes they brought one out. Anywho, babaaaaaaaaaaeeeee! The grits, TOP TIER! I ordered the Shrimp & grits with smoked turkey and they are so darn good! Creamy, flavorful, and smooth! Get them! They didn't have a kids menu, so my littles ordered waffles with fruit, bacon & eggs and my husband ordered an omelet. We all enjoyed our food and the views. Visited 7-25-22 for a bachelorette brunch and I love love love this rooftop restaurant. The shrimp and grits with the sauce was scrumptious, I mean seriously mouth watering. The buffet offered fried whiting, fried chicken, waffles, eggs, sausage, fruits, pastries etc and g group was pleased with their meals. Music: The DJ was good, playing some music that people in their 20 -40's would appreciate ( early 2000's hits and current stuff like drake 2022). Everyone was dancing in their chairs. Me and the bride even ended up doing the Tamia line dance on a small dance floor area they have inside. Rooftop: Initially we sat outside but the metal table and chairs were too hot for us to sit on. There are couches with cushions in a large section but a large group was sitting there. The rooftop wraps around one side of the building and is very spacious with views of the capital from afar and a bridge/ water. It seats at least 35 ppl and seems to have standing room for about 75 ppl. Unfortunately you can't do anything about the construction that was going on in late June but clearly that's not gonna be going on you're around so I will come back for the views and grits lol. Improvement suggestions: More covered seating outdoors or a pergola to make some shade. read more

Maybe just give em a month or two to sort out the issues before trying it out - doesn't seem to have a direct phone, or at least no one was picking up the 5x times we tried - we just ordered drinks, took about 30 min in a relatively empty bar. The location is perfect and I love how they have the rooftop setup. This would be a great spot in the summer for drinks and to hang out. They have a friendly and attentive staff and the ambiance of the place is great. I'm giving 3 stars because the food was very mediocre. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it seemed like they used frozen precut peppers and those tiny shrimp. It didn't taste horrible but it tasted cold and prepackaged. Hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. Reservation for 12:30 and we got our food at 3pm. My grandmother chose this location because it was black owned and she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a beautiful view. The view was the only redeeming quality. We ordered a day ahead because we were going to be a large party. Then after the deadline they gave us they informed us that the menu on the website wasn't accurate and that we'd need to change things. Turns out only a few of the orders needed to be adjusted but instead of making the food that was on the menu and just getting in person orders from the rest they told us 30 min in that they needed to speak with the manager because they didn't know what they should do ‍ Just ordering drinks was a nightmare "we don't have iced tea" then proceeds to bring out iced tea "who knew we had it" The earliest our party got food was 3pm and then there were members of our party without food at 3:45. When we did get the food the omelets were extremely small. No one was satisfied with even the flavor. I ordered shrimp and grits. The shrimp was good but the grits were horrendous. Stiff cheesy grits is never ok. Grits tasted grainy and weird. At one point before we got food the waiter asked if we wanted to go ahead and eat cake sir we are here for brunch we'd like to eat food. All of this was made worse by the fact that this was my grandmas birthday and she had a pretty terrible time. read more

First, I want to say the rooftop views at this location are absolutely gorgeous; however, if walking, be prepared to walk through some construction for now at least. They are generally Covid conscious, requiring that we were all wearing masks upon entering the building until seated at our table. The rooftop is very stylish with both table and lounge style seating, including fire pits for cool evenings. Now for the food. We ordered most of their shareables ( Flatbread, Crab dip, Hummus dip, Fried Oysters, Sliders, and Prawns). All dishes were good, especially the fried Oysters BUT we waited a long time and we never received the sliders. Our server was nice, but his mask was not always fully covering face and nose. We asked for the sliders multiple times throughout the meal. A manager came over asking if there was anything we needed. I requested a clorox wipe. He said let me check and I'll return. He never came back. They received 3 stars from me because the food was good and the rooftop view/ambiance is beautiful, but some work is definitely needed on the service side. read more

Hosted the reception for my mother's memorial service here and I could not have asked for a better venue! The views were amazing, the food was delicious and the ambiance inside was just what I wanted. A perfect way to celebrate with family and friends. I am disappointed. I made a reservation for 1:00pm. I was not seated until 1:45. When I asked the reason for the delay, I was simply told they needed to clear space. I was very unhappy as I was seated outside at a table that was not occupied. So what was the real reason for the wait. When my party was sat, we were not given water or menus. It wasn't until I asked for these things was I given these items. My friends ordered bottomless mimosas which came in a bucket (I think that is very clever), however the champagne was not chilled. The food took an hour to be brought to the table. I was over it at this point. The table next to us also had problems with closing/splitting their tabs and told us that the quickest way to get out was to pay al on one tab because they had to deal with a 45 minute situation just to close out. I spoke with Chef Henry who also is the owner who was able to express his apologies as well as embracing the feed back. The food was average. Amazing rooftop in SW! I had brunch here with a group of friends and everything from food to service was amazing! I will definitely be back and bringing people with me. We had a reservation and our table outside was waiting for us upon arrival. We were seated quickly and the views were refreshing. I had a coffee with half/half which was good. I ordered the avocado toast and the grits both which were yummy. The grits were amazing with great texture and flavor. One of my friends got the shrimp and grits and the shrimp were pretty big. Everyone on staff were super friendly and welcoming. Wes even made sure we had a spot inside when it started raining (he anticipated what was about to happen before it did which allowed us to relax and enjoy our brunch).
