Unfortunately, not sure where to start, other than truly disappointed. We ordered dinner from here tonight, but can't say we'll ever do that again. My husband and I each got the steak fajitas for $24.00 per plate. First off, this is my fajita plate, I haven't even eaten yet, but as you can see, little to no meat can be seen. To make matters worse, the box in which it was sent was leaking from all 4 corners. As if that wasn't bad enough, we were sent taco sized tortillas, not fajita sized, and we were only sent 4. So between two people, there were 4 tiny tortillas to share. For $24.00, I expect to at least have an ounce or two of meat, but our boxes were filled with soggy vegetables, soggy rice, and poorly flavored minuscule bits of meat. I actually had to dig to find the meat. I understand inflation, but there's a difference between inflation and being ripped off or being dishonest about what you sell. I am embarrassed to even be writing such a negative review, but I believe restaurants need to be made aware of incidents like this so they can be addressed. It's possible this isn't their typical practice (and I would hope not); however, it is unacceptable to charge $24.00 for a steak fajita plate that looks like this. Is it because we ordered take out? Was it bad night? Was there a shortage of ingredients? I would have preferred to have been notified that my order couldn't have been fulfilled than to have been charged what we were for dinner tonight. Wish I could tell you we enjoyed our meal, but we didn't. Wish I could tell you that I look forward to visiting it in person, but we won't ever dine from there again. I recently when to Mission with my 3 month old son to pick of dinner for me and my wife. I ordered through the phone because I was trying to add chicken to the nachos order online but was not able to. I ordered Chips and salsa, Breakfast burrito, Nachos with chicken. I picked up the order and as I was leaving I asked if I could get a couple of water to go and they said no (which surprised me). Mission food is very consistent- some food is really good and others can be bland. The carnitas quesadilla is amazing, and the carnitas is probably the best flavored of their meat options. The queso is not the best I've ever had but it does the job and great portion size to split with friends. The ancho aioli that comes with the quesadilla is also amazing. The birria was also pretty decent- nothing spectacular but definitely a solid Birria (kinda similar to Trader Joe's birria lol). If you can, make a reservation the day before, they're usually available for outside until a few hours before your dining time, and it's hard to get a table without a long wait otherwise. I had a really great time here during happy hour! We sat outside because it was a beautiful spring day. The happy hour deals were awesome- I got a Paloma for $9.50. I love that they asked what I'd like on the rim. The drink was delicious and not too sweet. For dinner I got the happy hour nachos which were only $10. As others have said it's more Tex Mex or Mexican American but good nachos are good nachos! My friend got the enchiladas which they said were amazing. Service was excellent- they were quick to bring everything and our server was really nice. My sister was in town and we decided to hit the Phillips collection for the Mucha exhibit. I had seen it before but she really liked it. The museum was busy, no real surprise on a nice saturday. We can barely hear each other talk. My only real complaint about the lunch visit. After a bit the food arrives and the tacos are tasty. In ordered without cilantro (bothers my stomach, like throw up bother). The chicken is spicy and good. Fresh fixings for the taco toppings. Erica likes the guacamole toast, commenting the freshness of the guac plus the generous toppings. It looked small but covered the plate. The beer is cold and margarita is tasty, I had a sip. Definitely a spot to visit if you happen to be in Dupont Circle and feel like Mexican. Many options on the menu, brunch looked good with a large variety of taco choices. We just went in for some drinks and appetizers. We were going to sit at the bar, but there was a party going on so it was super loud, so we asked the hostesses if we could sit in an empty dining room, and they happily accommodated us. Andrew was our server and he was super friendly. The guy who was assisting him (didn't catch his name) was also very friendly and helpful! I got a mission margarita and my husband got a Pacifico. We ordered the Tres Amigos (guacamole, salsa roja, and salsa verde) and an In Queso Emergency. Guac and salsas were good and the chips were fresh and crispy. I wasn't the biggest fan of the queso...it wasn't bad, but it was too "TexMex" for my liking. My margarita was great...and yes, I ordered a second!! Then we ordered a couple tacos...husband got a couple arrachera steak tacos, and I got a Baja fish taco. Both were great. I've visited Mission Dupont Circle for a range of occasions (brunch, happy hour, NYE, etc.) over the years and have had a consistently great experience. but wanted to particularly call out their recent hosting of our alumni networking event. Students from out of state reached out to Mission's events team and were able to easily reserve space for a large group in the front bar, and the team happily accommodated a schedule shift that pushed the start time back slightly at the last minute. The bar personnel were attentive and food service was quick, ensuring that attendees could keep their focus on the event itself. The GM, Becca, was incredibly gracious in making sure that we were well looked after and made sure to touch base throughout the evening with us and her staff. I came in around 9pm on a Friday night with friends and it was pretty packed with a wait for seating so we grabbed the available seats at the bar. The bartender was friendly and took our orders quickly. We ordered the Chips & Salsa, Birria Tacos, Chicken Quesadilla and Steak Nachos. The salsa tasted like it came straight from a jar and I personally didn't enjoy the chicken quesadilla. It was mostly cheese and I could hardly find the meat. Best salsa I've maybe ever had. There was tons of outdoor seating. They were able to seat our party of 4 right away at 7:30 at an outdoor table. When it started to get dark there wasn't much lighting though. That was the only downfall of eating outside. The chips and salsa appetizer is a must. The salsa has more of a smoky taste than a spicy taste which I really enjoyed. I got two chicken carnitas tacos and they were excellent.
