Searching for a happy hour to visit with some coworkers after work, I came across Teddy & The Bully Bar. What stood out the most was their seemingly endless food and drink selections, all at relatively cheap prices for DC. Most of their bites are under $10, and all cocktails are $10, even their barrel-aged ones. The restaurant itself is very elegant inside, with various paintings (and a sculpture wall) of Theodore Roosevelt. Whether it's meeting up with coworkers, friends, or a date, the aesthetics suit all occasions. Our server Nicholas was charismatic and funny from the start, even while giving us the history of the restaurant and recommendations. The Trustbuster was a smooth old fashioned. To my surprise, the short rib sliders came with french fries, and the mac and cheese was given high praise. The sliders were very well-seasoned and tender. The fries had the right amount of crispness to them, and the mac and cheese was one of the best I've had in the DMV. Even my coworkers tried some and raved about it. In terms of happy hours, it's going to be hard to top Teddy. read more

I am a solo diner in DC for work, so I decided to check out Teddy and the bully bar. I was actually contemplating cancelling my reservation, but there was a charge to cancel. However, I am incredibly disappointed. It was completely empty so no reservation was needed, and it seemed very bare. The place is very casual and not worth it in my opinion. I ended up not enjoying the menu, so I ordered half a dozen oysters and the corn bread. With tip, my meal was $50 and it was truly a waste of money. The food had little to no flavor and was very underwhelming. I almost should've just accepted the loss and the cost of being a no-show because at least I would've enjoyed my food elsewhere. read more

Fun brunch after a beautiful experience at the Cherry Blossom Parade! Service was fast and our waitress, Karen, was funny and friendly. Decor: FABULOUS! I actually felt like I was in the Hamptons because of the decor and color schemes. Very spacious dining section, with an extensive dining area nearby the bar. There were touches of a beautiful nautical design with unique artwork of Teddy Roosevelt Jr. sprinkled throughout the restaurant. They offer a great weekend happy hour which runs until 3pm. But be warned, once the time ends, those $10 espresso martinis increases to $16. Nonetheless, the espresso martini was delish! The rest of my party ordered old fashioned (loved it) Rosé, and rum. Everyone loved their drinks. For food, I ordered the Teddy's Cheeseburger. The burger was slightly overcooked around the edges but perfectly medium/well towards the inside. The sesame seed bun was fresh and the toppings: grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese, were drizzled with a delicious Teddy sauce. For sides, you can choose between a garden salad or French fries-I went with the garden salad. Excellent selection and the dressing was delicious. The rest of my party ordered the Shrimp & Sweet Potato Risotto, cornbread, and oysters (Blackberry, Olde salt, and Peach tree). The oysters were phenomenal and fresh and I heard that the sweet potato risotto and cornbread were delicious. Definitely plan on returning for drinks and bites. Such a great spot! An interior that is clearly influenced by the masculine outdoorsy qualities of Teddy Roosevelt with lots of exposed wood and leather coupled with some real attention to care when it comes to food, drinks, and service. Though their normal dinner menu is on the pricier side, they offer a great happy hour menu Mon-Sat with select draft beers ($6) and cocktails ($10), including some really interesting barrel aged cocktails. Everything I've tried, from food to drink, has been great! The cocktails are beautifully balanced and complex, and the food offers an elevated twist on classic comfort foods. My friends and I went to Teddy and the Bully Bar for bottomless brunch and it did not disappoint. The dining room is full of natural light because of the large windows, and surprisingly quiet given it's on a busy street. Our waitress (I believe her name was Miriam) was amazing and made our brunch such an experience. She made sure our drinks were always full and was bringing us different flavors to try. The food was so good too. Between us all we had dozen oysters, the mac and cheese, lobster roll, kimchi chicken sandwich, Teddy breakfast, and steak and eggs and we did not have a bad thing to say about any of them. I came here with family for the Christmas buffet dinner and we really enjoyed! If you're a presidential buff you'll appreciate the decor - the wall of mini Mount Rushmores is pretty cool! They had an unlimited carving station and buffet of sides as well as rolls and an appetizer to start. We had the oysters and the mushroom beignets which were great! The meat station was a little underwhelming but I'm a sides person at heart. The standouts were definitely the scalloped potatoes, mac n cheese, and risotto! The service is also great and the restaurant has a very comfortable vibe, with the tables well spaced and comfortable seating. Great place to meet friends or have an after work get together. I had a fairly enjoyable experience attending brunch at this location. It's a spacious restaurant with upscale decor, perfect for large group gatherings. I tried them out on a Sunday, it was pretty busy so I definitely suggest reservations and it's graduate season so I'm sure that added to the crowd volume. The overall atmosphere was fun though they even had a DJ onsite providing some great music. My friends had a table and we were seated quickly. Their brunch menu probably has one of the better deals in town $60 for bottomless food and drinks (rare to get both) or just the bottomless food option for $49 which is great if you're looking for the brunch vibes without being forced to have drinks. The brunch menu features items like avocado toast, peach kale salad, steakhouse sliders, fried chicken and waffles in addition to an omelet and waffle station. I tried out the teddy Mac and cheese, peach cobbler french toast, crispy fish tacos, and the Philly cheesesteak flatbread. As for the food itself: -the Philly cheesesteak flatbread: was probably my least favorite item, the short rib wasn't very flavorful. -Mac and cheese: excellent, great flavor and the combination of cheeses gave it a great southern style consistency. -Peach cobbler French toast: delicious, not an overly sweet combination as I had anticipated. -Crispy Fish Tacos: solid dish overall and I really liked the aioli sauce they used for it. We went there the other day and it was after lunch time so it was really quiet. We ordered the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese for the table to share. Sprouts were delicious and mac and cheese was just okay. I did notice that there was not a serving spoon in either dish that she placed in the middle of the table. We all thought there should have been. We were having to use our personal forks to get the food to our plates. That's all! The rest of the lunch was delicious too. We had a reservation at Teddy & The Bully Bar at 7:30, but it was not busy. Our server, Randall was friendly and helped us immediately. The ambiance is interesting to say the least. Mounted Moose, and other animals framed with LED lights. The music was a mix of house and EDM which is interesting in itself for a restaurant. The food and drinks were expensive but that is expected for anything upscale in the city. The mushroom appetizer was delicious, oysters were fresh, and the branzino fish recommendation was tasty. The seafood risotto was delicious with the shrimp cooked perfectly. I would not recommend the Mac and cheese for a younger person as it has a Smokey flavor and not your typical Mac and cheese. The food was decent but took a long time to come out. In my opinion, the service was really slow too. It was often difficult to flag someone down for assistance or even for the check. As for the restaurant's decor, this was really cute. Bathrooms are slightly outdated though. Would be willing to come back another time but it wasn't my favorite spot. read more

Whoever was on the fry station is doing great things, the fries and Brussels sprouts were pretty good. The Burger was burned to the point of bitterness and the chicken sausage and hash shouldn't be on the menu--slop. Vibes are fine. Service was cordial. I came here for lunch with three colleagues, and opted for the roasted salmon with caramelized shallots and potatoes. And... I was unimpressed. The salmon was dry, the potatoes were luke warm. For the $31 plate price, I was expecting more. That said the interior decoration of teddy & the bully bar is quite unique - and very intriguing. The indoor space in the front on the left is bright and spacious, while the high tables and bar area are quite dim. Teddy and The Bully Bar is a great happy hour spot. The drinks are awesome...barrel aged cocktails are a must. Their variety of beverage options at reasonable happy hour prices was definitely a draw for me. The oysters are a great price as well for half or a full dozen. The rest of the happy hour menu is also good...on par with higher end pubs in the area. My husband and I tried the burger, mac & cheese and chicken bites. The mambo sauce on the chicken bites is so DC and delicious. I also highly recommend the oysters and the number 1 and number 5, or whatever is the last number on the barrel aged cocktail list. As soon as I walked in the first thing i noticed was how nice the place was. The hostess was really nice and very accommodating as I was the first person in my party to arrive. I was able to sit at the bar and have a couple of mimosas while I waited. The guava mimosa was just ok and the mango was pretty decent. The brunch is $60 to include unlimited mimosas, unlimited mains and starters on the menu, and the omelet and waffle station. That's a pretty great deal. I tried the fish taco(salmon). Nothing special but others loved it. The Brussel sprouts were good, the Mac n cheese was blah. My omelet was really good and I topped It with the lamb that came with the benedict. The DJ was definitely cranking out some bangers which made the brunch even more appealing. Options for everyone! I also found the prices to be reasonable and the staff extremely personable and attentive. I ended up getting the Tuna Salad. I wasn't overly hungry, so it was the perfect size. I came to this spot the day before NYE. It was dead. Only 5 other patrons in the restaurant. Regardless, place was amazing and I enjoyed it. I settled on the brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and a glass of rose as the food and/or beverages brunch options were too robust to partake in solo (but did look really good). Very subpar experience. Never knew my bartenders name. Took 10 minutes to get a water. Ordered a Don Julio Cadillac margarita, doubt they used any Don Julio and there was no Grand Marnier. For food I ordered the calamari with a side of fries. When the food came out I was completely underwhelmed. That was the smallest portion of calamari I have ever gotten at a restaurant. For $18 I expected so much more. It was about 10 pieces of calamari on the plate. That's more that$1 a piece of calamari. Looking into the fridge behind the bar doesn't look like there are any dates on any of the juices stored in containers that are not juice containers. I've been here a few times since my initial visit and dinner has transformed my opinion. The honey glazed cornbread and the teddy mac & cheese are must haves each time I visit. They are perfect and so damn delicious! The fries and the sweet potatoes are also great starters For the entrees, I've enjoyed the seared scallops and the grilled branzino. For cocktails, The Trustbuster, The Lion and The TR Manhattan are so great if you enjoy bourbon. I decided to get a mocktail during my last visit. They don't have a menu but if you tell your waiter what you like they'll make something good for you. I had a virgin strawberry mint julep and it was amazing. I didn't try dessert but my colleagues enjoyed the spiced butter cake, flourless chocolate cake the pear sunday. The butter cake was a favorite. I went with a decent size group last time. Visited on a Sunday for brunch. They were two of us and we had an 11:30 AM reservation. I was surprised and impress to find a parking is free on Sunday so that was an added bonus. When we arrived, they were ready for us and quickly seated us in the rear section. The restaurant is a nice size and it was already a bit busy, but not completely full. However, it filled up quite a bit as we were leaving closer to 1:30 PM. So come early. It is $45 for the bottomless brunch without the bottomless Mamosa and 10 extra dollars for the bottomless Mamosa. I only wanted one Mamosa but my server helped out by saying the one mimosa was $11 while the bottomless was $10 so it's better to just get the bottomless There is a full menu and you can order them à la cart, but the pricing I set up that it's definitely better to do the bottomless, and they bring out small portions of each of the items. Everything that I got was quite yummy and I am a selective foodie. Things were seasoned well it was a sufficient portion size. Our server was attentive and even corrected. The mistakes that were being made in our food being taken to another table, but he handled it well. I will definitely be back and bring others. read more

Husband and I were looking for a happy hour spot near DC Comedy Loft and near the metro. We took the silver line and walked about 12 minutes to this spot. To our surprise it was empty! We sat at the bar and ordered several of their happy hour bites. My husband's favorite was the sliders and mine was the shrimp tacos. We also ordered the Mac n cheese, nachos, and quesadilla (pictured) and those were tasty too. We loved the Peacemaker and the Barrel #1 drinks super tasty! Bartender Armando was Amazing!
