Spicy pepito w/ fries. My man v food episode!
    Victor H.

After eating from here, you'll feel fat and happy; better then being hangry right? Spicy Pepito (spicy steak sandwich): get this eff'ing item! It's large and filled with goodies including potato crisps, corn, and jalapeños. Great texture, flavor, heat, and filling ness. While they have other sandwiches and burgers, this is their signature sandwich and puts its stamp on the food truck industry as a force to be reckoned with. I almost fell asleep at my desk after eating it because of how full I was. But I have no regrets. If that's how you feel after a meal, you know the business did it right!

Fresh and Yummy burgers and steak sandwiches. We stopped by after a trip to the American History museum. A lot of trucks with mostly the same type of food. Burgers chicken sandwiches and wings. The owner was extremely friendly and was very hygienic changing his gloves when handling money and food. Big props to Tropic Burger stands out amongst the crowd of food truck vendors.

While me and my boyfriend were around the capital and it's museums, we saw this food truck and decided to give it a try. The guy that served us was super friendly, he chatted us up while our food was getting ready. The owner himself is from Venezuela and recently moved to DC after the Venezuelan crisis. They have plenty of good options for those who enjoy savory and spicy. We got our burgers and they super stuffed it with almost everything. If you are super hungry and need something filling and tasty, this is definitely the place to go, especially after a long day of walking. Just make sure you get lots of napkins because eating the burgers is going to be messy, but totally worth it!

They came to my apartment complex tonight, so had to give it a go. Incredibly glad I did! I got the monster burger without mustard and damnnnn, it was awesome! Looking forward to finding this nice team around DC over the next few months.

The pepito is the best in town, and the sauce. This is really authentic Venezuelan food. Great service!

I ordered the Fonz Italian Sausage layered with pastrami (seemed like lunch meat) and melted cheese on top. I think it was provolone. Served on a toasted bun. Filling and satisfying, good flavor. The hot fries was a regular order of fries served with an imbalanced sprinkle sort of dumped on the top layer of fries and not distributed all the way through, which had an extra cost of $2 for the sprinkle of spices, which was an annoying difference in price in my opinion. Solid options for beer and a few ciders. Full bar as well. TVs on the walls only showing sports. You get a table number, order at the counter, pay, and they bring it out to the table number. Casual spot. My immediate thoughts...this place is overpriced. My sausage dog, fries and cider came to $26, plus tax, so about $31 bucks. I repeat, $31 bucks. I honestly felt as though the place was price gauaging. A few other people at my table mentioned the prices and thought they were overpriced. Not much service received, just them bringing the order out. Food was yummy, but I'm not convinced about the value. I have had sausage dogs, hot dogs, fries and beer around the world and I feel this place was overpriced. I like the atmosphere because its a perfect place for casual dining and decent for groups.

The visit was unique, the story is unique and the food is unique! Let's do this! Established in 1950 or 1954 (reports vary but the sign on the building says 1954), Weenie Beenie was a modest hot dog stand serving hot dogs and beans. It was started by two brothers, Carl and Bill Staton. Bill happened to be an incredible and ultimately famous traveling pool player who went by the name... you guessed it... Weenie Beenie! He won 27k in Arkansas (which is a LOT of money in the 1950's) and used the money to finance the hot dog stand's growth! He appeared on television, played hustlers across the country, and backed other hustlers while living the pool and entrepreneur life. During the 50's, a period of entrenched segregation in Virginia, Weenie Beenie distinguished itself by hiring black employees on the same terms as whites when most white‑owned businesses would not hire blacks at all. This made Weenie Beenie a rare example of early workplace integration in Arlington and a meaningful employer within the historically Black Green Valley community. Its reputation for fairness became a very important part of its legacy, remembered along with the food and its very colorful founder. We popped over and found a 70+ year old walk-up stand with a colorful, diverse and engaging set of customers and friendly service. In faded letters on the front wall to the left are the 10 commandments! No breaking any divine rules at Weenie Beenie's! We all chatted and I learned the one guy comes every day! The old man in the suit was very polite and reserved. The younger Latin and black clientele were fun and engaging and we joked around quite a bit. Another older man was as 38-year veteran of the armed service! Thank you sir! I heard some stories... Of course, we ordered half-smokes! They are well-seasoned half-pork, half beef, smoked sausages that are truly incredible. Weenie Beenie's are unique and delicious! Life is good with a historic, unique, fun and respectful half smoke.

This is the perfect dive bar to catch a game and I absolutely love the environment. As a Chicago(land) native, Ivy and Coney hits home in all the right ways. Tucked away in the Shaw neighborhood, this unassuming spot is a Midwest haven in the heart of DC. Let's start with the food: the Detroit-style pizza is phenomenal. Crispy edges, generous portions (you get 8 slices!), and packed with flavor. Perfect to share! Other notable mentions included the cheese curds, smash burger, or legit Chicago-style dogs. The space itself is exactly what a dive bar should be: cozy, casual, a little rowdy when it needs to be, and full of character. The back bar with the retractable roof is a hidden gem for game days. When I visited it was a beautiful evening and having the roof retracted added a special touch! And the staff? Peak Midwest nice (IYKYK). Friendly, quick, and genuinely happy to see you. Catch me here on Mondays, Thursdays, or Sundays (i.e., whenever my team is on the screen!). Whether you're here for sports, snacks, or just the atmosphere, Ivy and Coney delivers every time.
