Talk about tropical vibes in the city! This place is beautiful with two levels, a VIP area, and a private room. I ordered the Blue Hole cocktail - for my cognac lovers its so refreshing! Definitely try it. For my appetizer, the jerk wings were incredible - perfectly spiced. And the Oasis Curry Shrimp for my entree was packed with flavor. Their mac and cheese is unique, but I really enjoyed it! The owner was so kind, gave me a tour and shared the touching story behind naming it after his late mother. You can tell he puts his heart into it. Go check it out!

New Caribbean restaurant in DC and the food was delicious. The snapper was fried a little bit too hard, but the sauce was good. The Rasta pasta was my favorite. The sauce was very cheesy. I did not like the jerk butter on my cocoa bread. The strawberry wings were different but too sweet from my liking. The Irieistickers were delicious. And the chocolate cake was amazing.

The Jerk Nachos with plant based meat needed to be marinated. Additionally, I asked for Jerk sauce on the side as the nachos didn't portray the flavor. The cheese wasn't melted either. They need a little work. The bartender was excellent regarding her customer service skills. They have DJ Breezy on taco Tuesday's $3 Margaritas and $4 tacos. Check them out soon. They also serve brunch. New business Bon Appetit! Chef Candra

Listen... Seta Oasis did not come to play! I had the oxtails, and baby, they were EVERYTHING. Tender, seasoned to perfection, falling off the bone like they knew their assignment. The rice and peas were on point, the cabbage was hitting, and the plantains? Sweet, caramelized, and cooked just right. The food was fire, the service felt like love, and the ambiance gave that laid-back "come sit down and eat good" energy. My plate looked good, tasted good, and had me already planning my next visit. If you want real flavor, real comfort, and real good vibes, pull up. Five stars, easy.

Really good food, with nice ambiance and warm kind staff! I ordered the curry shrimp and the portions were huge, the curry sauce was really flavorful!!! The bartenders Brat and Natasha were so personable, friendly and made strong drinks. Natasha gave me a tour of the place its huge with lots of rooms and spaces for private events. I would def be back for the food and drinks!!!

You can also pay for a parking pass through their website but the lot only opens up an hour beforehand so be sure to plan your evening with that in mind. We ended up parking on the street for only $3 since we arrived early to grab dinner nearby. The entry line was super long and literally went around the block but it moved surprisingly fast. Staff was friendly and helpful at the door. The inside was dark when we arrived and it would've been nice to have some house lights so people could find their way around the venue a little easier. The AC was cranking and the temp was comfortable. Upstairs has standing room and some bleachers which provides a good view with less of a crowd. Their VIP area looks nice and I'd be interested in splurging next time for a seat and a better view. There's bars downstairs and upstairs and even some food concessions. Getting out of the venue from the balcony was a bit stressful with only one way out. It makes you imagine what would happen if you needed to get out in a rush... other than that, it's a good space.

Despite this and the crowded bar area, my party of 3 was still seated immediately at a booth in one of the many dining rooms. The atmosphere was both lively at the bar area and calm in the dining areas. Despite how fancy and old-timey the building is, it seems like the vibe is casual. Our attentive waiter informed us that the kitchen closed at 12:30am, so we ordered quickly. I got the: Hamilton burger 4/5 sunny-side up egg, bacon, b&b pickles, tilamook cheddar, dijionaise, house-made brioche bun This tall burger had a thick, juicy patty that paired so well with the egg, bacon, and cheese. I opted to remove the pickles. Considering it was served with fries, this was a reasonably priced meal for a popular destination in the city. BIRD IS THE WORD 4/5 planteray '3 star' rum, smith + cross jamaican rum, daytrip strawberry amaro, demerara, pineapple, lime Sweet, fruity, refreshing cocktail! I came here to support a rock and roll band comprised of my student, his father, and a few others. They were fantastic and the sound system was great. 3. Service: There is definitely room for improvement. I think it is best that the location states that there is a cover charge of $10, because the door man would not let me in until $10 donation was actually donated. I thought new chairs could be brought in to replace the current chairs. A new paint job with musical murals can bring this place to live. Perhaps a schedule should either be printed or posted inside the venue so that the audiences will know who is performing. There really isn't any assistance, except for the guy in the front desk and the one working the sound system. 4. Costs: $10 as a donation, but it actually is a requirement. Make sure you bring that amount in cash. 5. Overall experience: I absolutely loved the band. I thought they did a great job. I also believe in this venue and think that with a few adjustments, it can be a wonderful location for local bands to showcase their talent. This can be turned into a real money making machine if it is more organized and cleaned. Side Notes: N/A

I like the idea behind this place, but the execution is lacking…read more I've lived about a block away from this place for almost 3 years and until 3 months ago, I thought it was an electronics store. That says something about their advertising. I should mention that I'm a huge Takoma and moderate music fan. But I had no idea what this place was until I found out a friend of mine was playing there. Because my friend was playing there, I checked out their calendar and thereby found out another artist I happen to like was playing there. I went for the other artist and was embarrassed by the turn out. There were like 10 people there, half of whom I'd brought with me. The advertising was ridiculous. This artist is seriously talented and she deserved more than 10 people in the audience. The fact that me, a fan of hers, only found out about the concert through happenstance of my friend playing there, demonstrates how bad a job they do marketing themselves. Not only that, but their website's homepage isn't even updated regularly. The calendar is updated, but you have to know to go straight to the calendar, because their homepage is months behind. The guy who runs the place doesn't seem interested in reaching out to the various listserves and websites in DC that advertise live music and cheap events. This is a pity because the place is conveniently located and there are many people who would probably come here if they knew it existed. I hate putting down a place like this that seems community and volunteer run, but its unfair to the people who come from out of town to play here not to do an adequate job advertising and maintaining the website. I do volunteer work for other community organizations and it is key to have an updated website, listserve, and communications system - people need to know about things in order to partake.
