Washington Ballet Go Go celebration…read more Showtime 7:30 pm I wish I had better seats. It was my first time attending the Warner theater and we sat in the mid balcony. The seats were almost $120 each. The show was sold out. I am not sure if you are familiar with gogo music, but the Washington ballet decided to celebrate their 50th anniversary by having the ballet dancers choreograph to go go music by Black Alley. It was such a fun time. I was dancing on my way to the theater because they had the go-go Museum outside with a live band playing as you entered the Warner theater . Everybody was so hype for the show to start so we could party. The Washington ballet tricked us. The audience had no idea that they were going to watch three ballet segments with 15 minute intermissions and the go-go music was the finale . The audience sat and waited patiently because the dancers were so good. But we were wondering , "hello where is the go-go music? ". When the go-go finale was about to begin audience members were standing and recording so they would not miss a moment. Now, here is why I wish I had better seats. The ballet dancers came off the stage and danced in the aisle. You could not see that from the mid balcony. Also, if you sit in the mid balcony, the row closest to the front is not a bad seat unless a woman with big hair is sitting in front of you. Next time I would prefer a floor seat on the end or a balcony seat on the side of the theater, where you kinda have your own box. I do not remember seeing an elevator in the theater. It was a lot of stairs. If you are going to wear heels, I would strongly suggest carrying a pair of flats to walk back to your car. We parked in the Ronald Reagan parking garage. This parking garage is a federal building so they will ask you to open your trunk and look in your bag. They also ask if you have any weapons in the car. Our parking fee was included with our theater ticket. That was such a nice touch because parking could be the deciding factor if you want to attend an event downtown DC. The show was over around 10 PM which means most restaurants were closed or were about to close when we left. If you attend a late show at Warner theater eat before the show. They have snacks like chips, cookies, sodas, and wine . My friend brought me a liquid death water and it comes in a can? I'm big on word manifestations so I don't know about liquid death water. I don't wanna drink anything that says liquid death. Anyways I had a great time and I looked amazing.

The range of shows that they host is incredible and I always appreciate that they have out of the box plays. For example I saw GUAC a play performed by the father of a Joaquin, a Parkland shooting victim. It was an emotional, powerful, and beautiful tribute to his son. I also saw Dead Inside a comedic play about Riki Lindhome's fertility journey. I also really enjoy the set up of the theater, they always decorate the hallway and cafe section based on the play they are hosting which helps continue the atmosphere and dialogue of the shows outside of the walls of the theatre. Overall, I really enjoy Woolly Mammoth and I cannot wait to go back!

Matthew was a fun, energetic, patient teacher. Even when my kids and a few others were running around, it did not bother him one bit. I really enjoyed partnering with my son and daughter to create a dance or set of movements. You do not have to be an experienced dancer to enjoy the class, as the movements are very easy to follow and create. I broke into minimal sweat and felt like I had completed a light workout after 90 minutes. Good for all ages and levels or fitness. This is a good class for families, seniors, and kids all at the same time.

Friday Night 7:30pm Laura Benanti…read more One woman show "Nobody Cares" Date night and this was my choice. I originally wanted to see BOCKY but the play was over. So as I was looking at other shows and miss thang Benanti was damn near sold out ! I was like who is this lady ? So, I bought 2 aisle seat tickets on the mezzanine level. Now , let's get into these seats. Mezzanine is a great place to sit in the Pearl Theater. You can see from every angle as long as there isn't a tall person in front of you. What I don't understand about the theaters is LEG ROOM. If a show is over 30 min with no intermission , the audience is slowly dying. We are cramped and hoping that the alcohol will soothe the pain. Most of the theater audience is elderly. I'm not sure what center stage can do about it but no intermission is pushing it. What else ? The bathrooms were clean Drinks and snacks over priced. Top me off if the cheap wine is $14 . Parking ? Surprisingly reasonable. The parking garage was $8 Street parking was probably cheaper than that if you could get it. I came to see Pippin at this theater and cannot begin to express how impressed I was with the…read moretalent here. From singing to costuming to choreography, each performer gave everything to the audience. Since this is a theater in the round in a very intimate setting, I had my concerns that I would be in a section in which the performers had their backs to me. Quickly I realized that the seasoned cast is skilled at playing to each side and the staging wouldn't inhibit anyone's view. I purchased tickets with a partial view ( Row 4), and felt that my view from there was better than many Broadway shows I've attended. I did not find them to inhibit the show in any way, and the leg room was spacious. I really enjoy watching the support cast (chorus) and in this show particularly their roles were important to every element and integrated into the foreground. This is something you often don't see in traditional shows where the leads are foreground and the chorus is just left to be background noise. Great job by all. The theater is located near some eateries and an ice cream shop, but take advantage of this before the show. I felt every single person headed right to the ice cream shop after the show, and some of the eateries closed just as we exited at 9:00pm on a Sunday.

Signature Theatre has taken a show I have seen multiple times in the past, and freshened it up. A lot! Presented in the round - which I normally do not like - it presents like live-action happening right in front of your eyes for the 1st time. And the theater is small enough that I felt immersed in the action! Indeed, several times, players would come right up into the seats and interact with me and other audience members. It really made the show seem like a story being presented for first time, spontaneously, right in front of me. And, the performances were so fresh, so intense that I felt that each and every emotion/action was directed only to me. Very nicely staged! The quality of talent in this show is also noticeable. Particular kudos to the man who portrayed Pippin. The ensemble too was Broadway caliber. The dancing in particular was exhilarating! I felt every kick and twist. Fosse lives in this production! This show is old, however, having been first conceived in the early 1970's. But there was very little that was tired or old or vintage. It was fresh and cutting edge. The Signature production was unlike any of the other presentations of Pippin I have seen. The actors' entrances came in from the audience entrances - all 4 corners of the theater - and it was enthralling. The close proximity made every actor seem like they were talking/singing just to me. It was the kind of show that you really need to see more than once because there is so much going on all at once. Bravo to the Signature Theatre once again!

We sat in Row B of the Left Balcony in seats marked as having an "obstructed view," but the obstruction was incredibly minor. For the price, the seats were an absolute bargain and gave us a fantastic view of the performance. The theatre itself is beautiful, historic, and clearly very well cared for. The staff were universally kind, helpful, and genuinely passionate about the space and its history, which adds enormously to the experience. One of the best bonuses is the museum included with your theatre ticket. Definitely arrive early enough to explore before the show rather than racing straight to your seat. The seats themselves are admittedly on the smaller side and can feel a bit cramped, but one rather accepts that as part of the historic theatre experience. Beautiful venue, excellent value, fascinating history, and a phenomenal production. Ford's Theatre remains one of DC's most memorable places for a night out.

The chairs are ornate and historical (albeit missing modern day plushness). The bunting in the balcony above indicates where Lincoln was sitting during the attack. Yet, the stage and quality of the audio and visual effects clearly root you in the 21st century. We swept into our seats a mere 5 minutes before the production began, so unfortunately didn't have time to explore the museum. I've heard great things, though! Ushers were friendly and efficient. The actors did an amazing job, but my favorites were the musicians. It was such a nice touch to bring them onstage during the pub scene. The themes of this show are heavy, and the mention of the Pentagon crash pulled a few shudders from the local audience. The play walks the line between tragedy and hopefulness really beautifully; more emphasis is placed on the unity that was found than the darkness that wrought it. Would recommend, especially given the historical significance of the place! Very meaningful to have an American disaster staged within the building that witnessed another dark day for the country over 150 years ago. Very walkable to metro stops, too!
