A few weeks ago, I attended a movie and it was the last showing of the night for that theater. I was also the last one out and my wallet dropped out of my pocket due to the nature of the reclining seats. After realizing this, I went back to retrieve it and all my cash was taken out by an employee and left in the bathroom. Updated review on this AMC! Went back last night for a showing of This Ends with Us. Plenty of parking and food/drink options. The mozzarella cheese sticks were good and same with the cheese nachos. I'm glad they're still doing their movie discounts on Tuesdays because I definitely take advantage of that. My only complaint (hence the 4 stars in stead of 5) is the theater placement. We sat right next to Deadpool so during all the romantic/intimate scenes, all we heard were yells and screams from the neighboring theater. read more

Easy access for wheelchair and not too many people. Would have rated it higher however, the theater was filthy. There was encrusted dirt around the seats and popcorn on the floor. The popcorn looked like it had been there for at least a week. Lastly, the women's restroom was absolutely filthy. I've never been in a public restroom that dirty except in NYC. Encrusted filth on the floors, the stall smelled of urine, and there was splashes of who knows what on the walls even in the sink area. The paper towel dispenser had some weird stuff all over it. I can't describe it except that it was disgusting. If they have a cleaning crew, they are clearly not following behind them to make sure everything is done correctly. read more

I haven't been to this theater in AGES as I'm partial to Regal and my movie theater of choice is the Regal Majestic in downtown Silver Spring. However, since Regal doesn't accept AtomTickets, AMC was the way to go for the latest Spider-Man. Fortunately, the seats have been upgraded to comfy recliners, which gave it the edge over the AMC in Columbia (though Columbia has IMAX which is another differentiator) - but note that Regal Majestic has both. The free mall parking here is a plus. They also have a bar if you want to enjoy your movie with a drink. When we entered the theater, a staff member was already at the counter, ready to scan our mobile tickets and direct us to the proper theater. Kudos to the employee who was mindful of the movie format and handed us our 3D glasses without us having to ask. Sanitizer wipes were readily accessible to disinfect the seat before settling in. Compared to other theaters, it's certainly smaller - nine theaters in all - and with noticeably smaller screens as a result. Upon entering theater 1, my first reaction was: "This ain't IMAX!" The screen was so small and it wasn't stadium style seating, so it felt more like being in a home entertainment room. We booked our seats semi-last minute, so we opted for back row seats instead of front row seats when making our reservation. Since the screen in theater 1 was so tiny, I would recommend going for closer seating next time (no need to avoid the front rows). I also would've liked the sound to be a hair louder, but that's just me being picky so I'm not going to knock them for it. At the end of the movie, the employees were standing by ready to clean the theater once it was clear. Again, I commend their staging. Previous reviews noted that the bathrooms were a disgusting mess. I was worried that they'd be trashy, but fortunately this was not the case. While not pristine, the women's restroom was completely adequate. All in all, I met my objectives to see my movie. Continuing my more positive AMC movie theater series now since I slammed a restaurant with a 1-star review just now. I moved to Wheaton in October 2017, but I didn't get AMC A-List movie pass until June 30, 2018, and I ended up going to other theaters based on where I was. I paid my first visit to AMC Wheaton on Saturday, August 11, 2018, and this happened to be a date too! The movie ended up being mediocre, and the date was somewhat better than mediocre. As for AMC experience, the seats are really comfortable recliners. You could fall asleep, which I did on a few occasions. In spite of living a mile from there, I ended up going to Rio a bit more often as Rio had more variety of movies as result of 18 screens instead of just 9 at Wheaton. Also, Rio had PRIME, IMAX, etc. and another couple of friends who lived close to Rio and were A-Listers as well including my friend who got me join A-List in June 2018, who had gone 93 consecutive weeks getting his 3 movies in every week!  The only thing that would stop would be a worldwide pandemic.  On Friday, March 13, 2020, he worked early & went for a TRIPLE feature that evening knowing the theaters would all shutdown any day. My girlfriend of the time in 2019 & 2020, we went to Wheaton for a convenient option. Our last movie before Covid was Onward on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. I ended up moving away from Wheaton in November 2020, and Montgomery County theaters were still closed due to that local government's assessment of needing to be still be closed. So, in late 2020/early 2021, I ended up going to AMC Columbia & even sometimes Tysons more. Then, after a 1 year 9 month hiatus, in December 2021, I finally returned to AMC Wheaton as I was doing Christmas shopping. And it was nice being back at AMC Wheaton after so long. Besides the comfortable reclining seats, the staff is relatively nice. The one negative is parking is a bit awkward. It's two long rows on the side of the theater, and there were times it was full. There is parking on the side where the mall is, but a bit of a walk and down a long set of stairs to get down to theater level (also elevator available). read more

Service here has been extremely inconsistent here. First of all, I recently went to see a film here. During the film, an alarm came on which turned off the film. The entire theater had to be evacuated. However, management did not notify their customers what the reason was nor did they tell us if the problem will be fixed. After about 20minutes, we were told that we can enter back into the theater. Upon returning to our seats, the film was already playing for a few minutes so we were very discouraged that we missed a portion of the film. On top of that, management did not provide customers with any vouchers / credits due to the inconvenience that we experienced. I am extremely dissatisfied from this experience. I contacted AMC directly and they were unable to resolve this matter. read more

My family and I always watch movies at Wheaton's AMC. The staff is always friendly and kind and clean. Tonight, my daughter lost her phone, and we called the theater. One of their employees, Will, responded fast and assisted us. He found her phone and when we picked it up he greeted us with a smile where he probably knew how relieved we were. This is a reminder of how we should be. Good customer service brings people back. However, great customer service makes you come back because that charitable act is memorable and will be told to others which will bring more customers to this theater. read more

This is my first time seeing a movie at this theatre. My daughter recommended that I see Downton Abbey: A New Era. She also said that this place has very comfortable reclining seats and tasty food to snack out with. I bought my ticket online and chose my seat in the middle of row B. All I had to do upon entering the building was have my ticket barcode scanned by the friendly staff at the counter on the left. He directed me to theatre #5 just down the hallway on the left. The size felt intimate & perfect for this movie. I was told that all the screens here are this size. The seats are clearly numbered. They are very comfortable with cup/snack holders. I always love watching the previews. I had a bag of Skittles in my pocket so I did not get anything at the snack counter. The sound & picture quality was excellent! Next time that I come here I look forward to getting some delicious snacks and seeing another good movie! I've visited here twice and I have quite enjoyed myself. Once with my husband for a date night and once with my son for a kids movie. With my husband, we visited Omni the evening. It wasn't very crowded and there was all the usual food to choose from. The mozzarella sticks weren't bad. With my son we visited for a 12p show and we had the place to ourselves which was fun. The theatres aren't very slanted, but even the seats in the back have a decent view. My favorite part is definitely the super comfy, wide and reclining seats!! read more

Small one-floor theater separate from Westfield Wheaton mall behind the Bar Louis and down two flights of stairs to a quieter part of the building. The cashier didn't understand that I didn't want to redeem my rewards but still redeemed it anyway. The ticket-taker was friendly and attentive. The theater itself (no. 6) was clean, had red plush recliner seats, and with a slightly sloped floor (but not stadium style). The handicapped row is second from the back and the back row is on a platform. The best seats are probably row D. One thing I noticed was sounds from the adjoining theater's movie, which was very distracting. They sell alcohol here! There's a full bar in its own section apart from the concessions area. This AMC is not as huge as other AMCs, but it was fairly clean and in good condition. The men's bathroom was clean and located AFTER the ticket taker so no noncustomer bathroom visits. The hand dryers are those that you stick your hands in, which I loathe. read more

I usually don't go to the movies at "prime times" ie., weekend nights, and tonight I've realized why. We get to our seats and they are COVERED in popcorn and butter, there's a cup in the cup holder, and trash all over the floor. W.... T..... H... This experience was definitely not worth $30 and now I see why movie theater ticket sales are down... Because nobody cares about customer service anymore... In addition, the bathrooms were a mess, half the toilets were unflushed, had toilet paper all over the place, or were out of toilet paper. I understand it may have been a busy night, but get it together. Won't be returning to this AMC. read more

I don't typically leave a review like this but when it comes to movie theaters I'm not a fan in general. This is probably my third movie theater review in my entire Yelp existence. Thus I'm going to skip the story version and just do a pro and con list. *PROS* -$12.50 movie tickets bought on Fandango. Great price considering iPic's prices -Great location. Kind of hidden but near lots of food. -Friendly staff who seemed knowledgeable about my questions. -Smaller theater aka less people *CONS* -Bathrooms were disgusting! -Hard to find seat numbers/ row letters -Small recliners. This lady has hips! Overall this theater felt like a renovated cheap seat theater without the $5 tickets. I'm not sure who picked the recliners but they aren't super comfortable if you're a larger (weight and height) person. Would I come back? Probably. Do I plan on it? Not really. read more

This review is about the AMC Wheaton Mall 9, but also covers something that needs to be considered regardless of the movie theater you select to attend. First off, AMC Wheaton Mall 9 is a nice enough theater. If you are looking for a mostly clean, mostly comfortable theater to see a movie, this one will serve those two needs. If you are looking for great seats with good views, wonderful staff and a great experience, AMC Wheaton Mall 9 will not serve those needs. Let's start with the things that management at this specific location can address. Staffing, cleanliness, seating process and concession operations. When I attended a movie, it was a 9:15 PM weekday movie; a movie that was a blockbuster only in it's early days of it's second week of wide release. I went into the complex, with an AMC issues movie coupon. At the ticket counter, customer side, there were 4 people huddled around a machine, buying their own tickets. There was NO AMC staff member behind the counter. After a short wait the ONLY usher they had working went behind the counter to process my coupon. In order to take tickets, since the usher taking tickets had to go behind the ticket counter, the ONLY concession stand employee left the concession stand to take tickets. After I got my ticket, had my ticker taken, I had to wait for the concession staff member to come over. I had a coupon for a free pop corn, medium. I was given a bag of clearly day long old pop corn. When I went to get napkins, located by the self serve soda machines, the area as a mess, sticky, dirty, clearly unattended. I made my way to my theater. I sat in my assigned seat. Now, the fun started for other movie goers. The aisle and seat numbers are not easy to see and there was no usher to help people get to their right seat. For 10 minutes musical seats took place, people moving from one seat to other, having to ask others to get out of their seat, and so . Assign seating for a movie is INSANE (and will lead to greater yield management and HIGHER COSTS). If a theater is going to move to assigned seating they take on the obligation of making sure that each person paying for a specific seat has clear and easy access to that seat. It will be just a matter of time before something ugly, most likely deadly, is going to happen with this current self policing situation. The theaters running from this obligation will end up being sued and shut down. No staff selling tickets. No staff selling concessions. No staff ensuring a safe experience. Not much of a business plan. Also, not all screen sizes are created equal yet all ticket prices, minus IMAX and 3 Day, are the same. I saw my movie on a small screen. I felt robbed of a true first run experience. Lastly, when many of these theaters are being updated with bigger chairs they are making assumptions about sight lines that are WRONG. If no one is sitting in the reclining seat in front of you and you recline, be prepared to not see the lower part of the screen. Running a theater, the cost of the business aside, is one of the easiest business to be in; it takes a little brains, proper staffing and a thoughtful environment. Considering that when my movie ended there were NO employees left in this theater, AMC Wheaton 9 is missing the little brains and the proper staffing. read more

I don't frequent the area often, yet I missed this construction somehow with my Costco visits. Yet, I didn't miss the huge picture of Popcorn guiding us to the theater...same direction of LA Fitness. With the exception of waiting outside 15 minutes before roll camera time, the signature red, comfortable recliners & newness of the movie house worked for me. The Lobby, Concession Stand & Theaters was in order. I appreciate the Condiment Section being away from the Concession Stand as is it was extremely easy & accessible. The Restrooms are modernized, in very good shape with everything being automated, a hygiene plus You won't have any issues finding your movie as the electronic signage provides all the details to the T. The staff, who I presume are still getting acclimated was hit & miss, & should have more than one person at the Box Office, even for the AM showings. There's in-house bar called MacGuffin's in a roped off section offering beer, wine & cocktails that can be consume there or in the theaters, with a few TV's on the wall. To avoid a long line to purchase tickets, you can do so online or with the automated machine. AMC Stubs Premier has there own line for Members. Enjoying the movie with my extended family was the highlight, & always good to see a Military discount being offered, starting at 4pm, with a valid ID. read more

There was only one place I wanted to see Black Panther at, the Wheaton mall! The best thing about this place has to be the seats! You get to choose your own seating which is nice but the recline-able chairs is what actually makes the movie experience. There is also a bar in this theater. While I did not partake because it was way too expensive. It's a nice addition. Because this place is kind of tucked away behind the restaurant and over shadowed by the Wheaton mall itself, not many people go to this theater meaning it is definitely cleaner than most. It tucked away near the backside of the mall, near la fitness. While movie prices have gotten higher and higher, this place is worth the ticket price for the experience and cleanliness alone. The only thing I wish that this place did have were movie screenings, like the Mazza Galleria. I would much rather got to Wheaton that to friendship heights area. read more

Located behind Bar Louie, down the stairs or you can enter by driving around the other side of the building as it is located between WorkSource and LA Fitness. There you will see the main entrance for AMC Wheaton Mall 9 - parking is plenty and the theater is branched off from the mall itself, otherwise known as the South Office Building. As you step inside, purchase your tickets to the left from the person behind the Ticket Counter or use one of the electronic stations to pick up your paper tickets (I think you can purchase your tickets at these portable stations as well, but I am not sure). The negative here is that these stations are positioned right near where the ticket counter is, so I am curious to see if there is confusion when this place gets crowded. There is an AMC Stubs Premiere Member only line - I have not seen one of those before, but it is good to note. To the right is the food area where you can get your movie snacks. They have the typical things like Hot Dogs, Pretzels, Popcorn, Nachos and just a few extra items like Chicken Tenders, Pizza and Mozzarella Sticks. Prices are no different from any other movie theater. Before entering each movie room, it shows you the capacity, theater number in both numeric and word form and the name of the movie you are seeing on a digital screen along with the time it is being shown. The restrooms, I was told, have automatic soap and water dispensers and that's a plus in any venue. The seats in this theater, you can reserve and they also recline as well. We got seats in the last row of the theater and it seemed so far away from the screen. Next time we will get something closer. The way on how to find your row and seat number is: each row is imprinted in the carpet and no, it does not look like it glows in the dark, however each seat number is located below the arm rest area of each chair and those do glow brightly, although they may be hard to see if folks are already reclined in their chair - you will have to figure it out when you get there, or better yet, just get to your movie on time. I was glad to have come across this theater as it may return me to viewing movies at this AMC only because I can reserve their seats - a huge plus in my book. I saw a matinee this morning. Like, early in the morning. My ticket was just $6.09! I haven't seen prices like this since my last visit to Michigan. I think it's this price for the first showing only, then it goes up. I was one of seven people in the theatre for my movie. I did buy my ticket online the night before which was totally unnecessary. I paid a $1.75 convenience fee for booking online. As you can read, I did not need to do that. The best thing to do is check online before you go and see how many seats have been sold. If seats are being sold, then pick out a good seat, pay online, and show up ten minutes before the show. The one thing about matinees here is that there's only one person selling tickets and scanning/collecting your ticket, so you might have to wait behind someone buying one when you just want your phone scanned so you can go sit down - another strike against pre purchasing your tickets. read more

Though I normally prefer Regal, I bought an AMC A-List and have been loving the benefits it provides. There are priority lanes for tickets and for concessions and it makes it much quicker. I do like the recliner seats and how I can make reservations online. I also get a free upgrade on my concessions. I definitely think A-List is worth the $19.95 per month for 3 movies a week. The employees at this location are great and I do love coming here. I do wish the offered a small popcorn because the medium can sometimes be a bit much. Took two and half hours for some "me" time. I watched " Avengers End Game". Great show. The theatre was really nice good size theaters and great reclining seats. What's even nice is for evening shows, the bar is open for those, 21 and over, who want something a little more exotic. Will definitely visit again. read more

I'm all about the comfy movie theater experience and this newly (well I believe fairly new) renovated theater sold me. I remember coming here back in the day and I believe it was closed for some years. Glad they decided to re-open and jump on the bandwagon by renovating it (the downtown Silver Spring theater needs to get with the program and follow suit!!) My go to theaters are AMC Loews in Beltsville or Regal in Laurel (both offer reclining seats), but decided to check out Wheaton since the movie we were going to see was at a more convenient time. I was impressed and I love that it's conveniently located next to Bar Louie (easy to grab drinks/food). After seeing a movie here recently my friend and I did just that - unwind with some food and drinks. This theater does offer a full bar, which makes a perfect date night. The prices are very reasonable (compared to the going rates of movies these days) and parking is convenient. read more

If you don't have a rewards card you need to get one! I got to cut all of the lines to buy movie tickets and snacks!!! I felt bad because there were at least 7 people in each line but the rewards card is free sooo get one of you don't already have one. This movie theater has a bar so they card you when you go in! I got carded at 27...I didn't have my ID but we weren't trying to get drinks so they still let us go in. I loved that this place has assigned seating. When you buy your tickets you get to pick where you want to be. Plus they have the super comfy reclining chairs. Only thing that could make the experience better is if they gave you a blanket when you came in lol. read more

I hadn't been to this theater since high school, so this was my first time seeing it since it's been remodeled. This is maybe the second theater I've ever been to with reclining seats, that isn't stadium style. (Tiered seating) Which I realized I prefer. I saw reviews about it being dirty, it wasn't bad, and the ticket prices were lower then most theaters with reclining seats. There is lots of parking in the front and the back. Movie and seats were great. Cleanliness was not the best though. Sadly. Mostly talking about when we got to our seats the cup holders were filled with popcorn. When we reckoned the seats back we could hear those sticky noises that happen when drinks are spoiled and not cleaned up. My wife and I will be spending a lot of time here now that we signed up for Stubs A-List. This is a fun, smaller theatre with updated amenities. The theatre is downstairs behind Bar Louie and part of the Westfield Wheaton Mall (though it is not connected). It's a small theatre, with only 9 screens, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in amenities. The theatre lobby has an updated snack bar that includes freestanding coke machines and self serve icee machines. Additionally, there is a full bar compete with beer, wine, spirits, and a cocktail menu. Mixed drinks at the bar ranged from $10-$14. There doesn't appear to be an arcade. The stadium experience is great. The theatre has reserved seating and large reclining chairs. RealD-3D is available throughout the theatre but there are also plenty of standard showtimes. Staff have been particularly attentive during our visits. All our questions, concerns, and needs have been handled with a smile. read more

While AMC will continue to be my favorite major theater chain, this location will never be my favorite spot to see a movie. The bar in the lobby is an interesting touch, but is only open after five. The concession stand is small, and is generally understaffed. I've been overcharged on both of my visits, and have had to hold up the line in order to correct the errors. With prices this high it is important to get the order right. My main issue with this location is actually the reclining seats. Are you ready for spoiled me? Spoiled me wants you to know that the recliners in this theater are narrow when compared to other recliner enhanced AMC theaters in the area. How narrow? I'm not a small woman, but This is the first time I've been in a seat that my hips operate on their own. Every time I shift position my feet raise or lower, and if is annoying. If you see movies on a regular basis, the AMC Stubs rewards program is well worth the yearly fee. $15 per year gets you upgrades on popcorn and drink sizes, bonus coupons every month or so, and convenience fees forgiven when you order your tickets through fandango. You also get $10 back for every $100 you spend, which adds up quickly. I'm glad that the movie theater has returned to Wheaton, and if this is the most convenient option for you it isn't a bad choice. However, if you have a vehicle and don't mind driving to a different location, I highly recommend the AMC Center Park 8 in Calverton. The theater is older, but the staff is better trained and the seats are wide and comfy. read more

Anyway, Rich and I don't go to the movies very often but wanted to see Rocketman and didn't need anything fancy so we decided on the AMC Wheaton Mall 9. It was perfect for us. You buy your tickets and then to the right there is a full bar, closed at the matinee, and the snack bar and soda machines. Must confess, we planned on sharing a large popcorn and diet coke so I did not pay any attention to the menu. We should have gotten a regular size popcorn and soda as we ended up wasting about half of what we got, but so we learned. We had to select our seats and had no idea. Apparently there were two rows of seats a little higher up and then the rows below that. The seats were spaced nicely and were very comfortable. I don't know the difference between upper and lower but we selected two aisle seats in the middle of the lower area. They were quite comfortable and though during the previews I was afraid the movie would be too loud it was fine. On a Thursday matinee the theater was almost empty which was good because, according to my husband, I was apparently singing along to the music. This theater was not nearly as fancy as Pike and Rose, at least not where we sat, but it was fine for us. The bathrooms were clean and accessible, the staff pleasant, the seats comfortable, free parking, so all was good. read more

Positives: They have comfy reclining seats. The temperature isn't too cold or too hot. There is plenty of free parking available. There's a lot of nearby places to go grab a bite. Buying tickets and getting in is easy. The screens are fine and there is no issues with the volume. Negatives: The staff is not friendly at all. In fact, they're actually quite rude. If you go on Tuesdays, because of the discounted tickets, there'll be a lot of people and they're usually rude and ruin the experience. Their bar charges insane prices and the drinks are heavily watered down. The concessions is a mess and overpriced. If you get anything other than the popcorn or prepackaged items, you are throwing your money away, because they will mess it up. The bathrooms are always messy and dirty and disgusting. Basically, to have a good experience, go there, watch the movie and get out. Don't buy stuff, don't use the restrooms and don't go on Tuesdays. read more

A movie theater is only as good as the crowd it attracts. I realize this is something that is out of the theater's ability to control, which is why I give it 2 stars instead of 1. But with that being said: I've seen 3 movies at this theater this year: Avengers Endgame, Captain Marvel, and most recently, Joker. And each and every time the following has happened: -Toddlers running amok in the aisles during the movie, making it very hard to focus on the movie. -Infants, literal infants who shouldn't even be in a theater, crying loudly -people talking through the entire movie -Cellphones out with bright screens ^^ and many more other issues related to distraction and noise. Otherwise, the theater is relatively clean, the bar is a bit overpriced but nice to have, and location is good. I just wish the actual movie-watching experience was better. If you're not bothered by the types of distractions I listed, then I'm sure this theater is for you. If you are, then I highly suggest finding another theater. read more

The theater and seats are nice. The clientele are awful resulting in a disruptive movie experience. Saw a 9 PM movie. Two people had toddlers with them. The toddlers cried intermittently and their owners had to constantly get up and bounce them. Other folks talked and use their phones throughout. The theater staff really need to spot check the movies and escort out people who are talking, using their phones, or bringing crying children. read more

So happy to have the movie experience back! We went to see Don't Breathe 2. The projection room was extremely humid and as a result, the projection window fogged up. This created a very noticeable decline in the picture. Myself and several other patrons noticed this and alerted the staff. Nebil was able to clean the projection window, restoring the picture. The projection window again fogged later in the showing. Nebil again cleaned the window. I was somewhat frustrated by this and can only assume other patrons were as well. I fully intended to ask for a credit or a refund after the movie ended as this was not an optimal viewing. To my surprise, Nebil was waiting at the door as we exited the theater with an apology and a credit ticket to be used on a showing of our choice. He was so thoughtful to recognize that this was not an ideal situation for the patrons and went a step further to create an acceptable resolution without anyone having to ask. Way to go Nebil! This is customer service at its finest. I will happily return knowing that the staff value my business. My girlfriend and I go here once a month and are usually very happy with the overall experience. read more

Pretty impressed! Theater #3 was clean and each row has enough room so that you're not squeezing by if someone has their seat reclined unlike some other theaters. Seats were comfy and the area was clean. This theater also has a bar inside for 21+ patrons which I thought was neat. Overall a good first impression. We will def be back! read more

My husband and I saw Dune there yesterday. It was the first time that we two cinephiles had gone to an actual movie theater since the start of the pandemic. The film was good, but the experience was far from great. While they were showing about a dozen trailers, I noticed how loud the volume was,* so I complained to the assistant manager. He replied that the trailers are always louder than the actual movie; and if the volume of the movie itself was too high, I should come back out and tell him. (I suggested that he should check it out himself, but he declined to do that.) Of course, not only was the movie's volume NOT lower, it was actually a touch higher than that of the trailers. (During the movie, I measured an AVERAGE volume of 80 dB and a maximum volume of 91(!) dB. Per the CDC, "[n]oise above 70 dB over a prolonged period of time may start to damage your hearing.") In this case, these noise levels lasted for 2 1/2 hours; and the volume WAS harmful. I didn't dare leave the theater, because there were other patrons watching; and there was 0% chance that they'd stop the movie, poll the other patrons, rewind the movie to the point where I'd left the theater, and re-show it with the volume turned down (or at least turned down enough to prevent hearing damage). I ended up literally putting my fingers in my ears for nearly the entire film. Afterwards I complained to the general manager, who stated that the studios require that their movies be shown at a certain volume, i.e. within a small range of an overall excessive volume. When I told him that I spent most of the movie with my fingers engaged with my ears, he declined to offer me any refund/voucher, since I had actually seen the whole film. Bad form! I realize that most-or-all studios that produce action films want those movies to be shown at a high volume--especially during scenes where they want the audience to FEEL the rumble--so I'm essentially tilting at windmills here. But I expected at least a little sympathy from the theater's managers, and I got none. I won't return to this theater anytime soon. *I used SoundPrint to measure the actual volume of both the trailers and the movie, at a distance of 1' from my ears, and got essentially the same results for all of them. read more
