Being young parents in the area, Imagination Stage has been on our list for awhile. Living in Southeast D.C., any reason to venture out to Bethesda isn't worth it. Imagination Stage was. We booked a one-hour play on a Saturday, which meant the commute was only 35 minutes and parking is free in the nearby garage. The show itself was 60 minutes with a 25-minute intermission. It kept our five-year-old daughter engaged from start to finish!

Great place for young and old... Classes and workshops and performances galore. For folks diverse in ability and age and even aspiration. Accessible. Parking garage on the block.

A truly wonderful space where your little ones imaginations can be free to run wild! They are well equipped for even the youngest theater goers, but in my experience older audiences will have just as much fun! Recently caught Imagination Stage's production of "The Ballad of Mu Lan" and was completely captivated! During the weekend shows the actors come out at the end of the show for mini meet and greets which are perfect photo ops for you and your little thespians! The amount of fun to be had is only limited by your imagination!

What a great idea! I went with a friend and her son to see a play here and now I want to do the same with my kid once he is old enough. Imagination Stage is a children's theater company that puts on modern and classic plays year round. And, as we found out, Imagination also offers classes in drama, acting, dance, musical theater, and filmmaking at all age and grade levels. This theater company used to be housed inside White Flint Mall until it moved to this space in 2003. The "new" location is impressive for what is a children's theater-- everything is state-of-the-art. They really have thought of everything. If a young audience member gets too loud, he or she can be moved to "the quiet room" which is a glass covered room behind where the main audience sits so he or she can still see the play. Genius!

EXCELLENT!!!! An amazing place for kids and adults. The price seems amazingly low for the performance you get! The actors and actress were amazing Very well done!! Look forward to the next performance!! Must do for kids!!

I chaperoned a first grade field trip to see Cinderella, and this is an experience that I would highly recommend for all children in this age-group. I would say that for the majority of the students attending, this was their first experience in a theater setting, yet the play was so well done that the kids were fully engaged the entire show. I loved that since it was specifically a show for elementary students, there was a Q&A after the show, where the children were able to ask about the acting process, how stage effects are done, and anything else that came to their minds.

I hadn't been in a while and was excited to return -- I'd even told my friend, who had never been, that the food was really good. I have Celiac's disease, and on my last visit, there were several gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu, which I really appreciated. I was disappointed to find that was no longer the case. Our waitress kindly suggested salmon, which wasn't listed on the menu, but unfortunately that's not something I enjoy. I ended up with only an $18 iceberg lettuce salad with tomatoes, shaved carrots, and one boiled egg and without the croutons. I had saved my appetite all day for a real meal out, and left the evening still hungry. I sent an email to the theater the next day asking that they consdier adding a gluten-free option or two and having them clearly marked -- both in the venue and on their online menu. I told them that simple additions like baked chicken, roasted potatoes, and green beans would make a world of difference for guests with dietary restrictions. I sent that email on March 14. Today is March 22 and I haven't heard anything back. I saw some upcoming acts that I'd be interested in and I'd love to go to the theater again, but won't until they've added some gluten-free options.

I personally like the ones near the center booth, looking straight ahead. No sharing with strangers and table in front. Viewing-stage is large and screen as well. Easy viewing. Food- the food was just all right. You can tell it was warmed up and fresh-ish. We had wings, fries, and ceased salad. Long wait times for other guests throughout the night. Catfish looked good. Drinks- we got a bottle of wine reasonably priced. Long wait times. Timing- getting food and drinks took waaay too long. It took over 30 mins to get a bottle of wine. We got our food bf that. Folks around us were frustrated too. Service-everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. Staff was running around helping patrons and other staff. Price- the ticket price was fine. Tax and fees seemed high. And the %20 added gratuity was standard but then our server got awkward asking for an additional tip(several times). The host put on a really lovely event! Thanks for having us!

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.
