It's a good venue with dance floor viewing area in front as well as seating for eating/drinking on the sides & behind as well as an upstairs area with more vantage points to watch a show. There were 3 noteworthy times I visited. Once was Friday, August 2, 2019 and then just 5 weeks later on Friday, September 6, 2019. Early August was still relatively new in a relationship of that time, a little more than a month in. We enjoyed a Smiths/Morrissey cover band. 5 weeks later my friend invited us to a show there. September 6, 2019 was a bad day because more than half my company was laid off. I knew of a financial crisis occurring in late August but was unaware of the gravity of it. A coworker warned me that afternoon before to save anything on computer you want to keep. So, I was in a panic state. That morning I had a doctor appointment. My manager called later in morning of what occurred was that we were both keeping our jobs, but lots of people were called in to tell them their job was ending. My mood was kinda depressed at the people who were gone and the g/f & I had a disagreement about something. Ultimately, the show was good, but I don't really have much recollection wasn't so good. Long after later in September 2023, two friends who had become a couple invited me & our mutual friend to a show here. We reserved table and ate there. I got a burger I think, which was decent. I think I got a beer too with my burger. Great band once again! In summary, State Theater is an older venue but has some historic charm. I've had some good memories here.

Kat pours her heart into her teams, and the loyalty of her dance family is a testament to that. She makes sure that her students are cared for not just in dance, but mentally and emotionally as well. I'm lucky to have experienced her teams as both a lead and a follow. She is very supportive of women assuming the traditionally male role of leading, and she has done the same herself. Studio can be hard to find but there's a stairwell down on the side of the building that leads to a basement hallway.

Kat mixes humor with care and attention to detail not only to improve how I dance but more importantly to alter the perspective of how I view myself as a dancer. I highly recommend anyone looking to learn to dance to inquire and give it a shot. The feeling of positivity and confidence last way past just the class itself!

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.

It's a fast-paced show that kept us laughing, intrigued and highly entertained. A very fun, wonderful way to spend entertainment dollars in DC. Not a bad seat in the house! This is downstairs in the historic Mayflower Hotel, nice and close to the Farragut North Metro Stop. Definitely appropriate for all ages. Highly recommend!

I tried finding IMAX 70mm tickets, but the closest option was King of Prussia, PA around three hours away and sold out for days. So Plan B: find one of the best upscale experiences in the DMV. That's how we landed at Paragon Founders Row. Drive from Maryland was 30-35 minutes and parking was easy. Paragon validates up to four hours--look for the QR code/validation signs inside. Walking in, my first thought: Very nice... but where do we go? The first floor is modern and spotless, with digital kiosks, a bar, concessions and a waiting area. Staff greeted us, but signage directing us upstairs wasn't clear. It felt like we'd entered an exclusive club where everybody else had already been briefed. We guessed correctly and took the elevator. Upstairs, we were immediately greeted, had our tickets checked and were directed to our auditorium. We were also told to scan the QR code at our seats to order food, drinks and concessions. THE LUX BOX IS MADE FOR DATE NIGHT For a date? Get the Lux Box. The dividers create a semi-private nook. Nobody directly beside you--just you and your date. For roughly a $4-per-ticket upcharge, the privacy alone was worth it. Then we discovered the seats were HEATED. In July. My back was bothering me and my wife wasn't feeling great. I accidentally turned mine on: "OMG... I think my seat is heated." She turned hers on. A few minutes later she smiled. Yep. We're never going back to non-heated seats. Everything felt clean, modern and upscale, including the spotless bathrooms. THE POPCORN... Listen. I've eaten a lot of movie theater popcorn. This might have been perfect. We ordered extra butter, and whoever made it understood the assignment. Not butter on top followed by dry popcorn. Butter. All. The. Way. Through. Warm, fresh and buttery from beginning to end. 10/10. At around $23, I wish the ordering system made the portion size clearer. Once I tasted it? I stopped caring. Every bucket of movie popcorn we eat from now on is getting compared to Paragon. WHERE PARAGON NEEDS WORK The employees were friendly. The service system needs improvement. Our popcorn arrived quickly, but they brought the wrong water and my wife's drink took 20-30 minutes. There's no easy way to request assistance from your seat no service button, no "I need help" option, and nobody routinely checks on you. I asked about a popcorn refill and was told to take it to the service area myself (odd for dine-in). I offered to tip the server to handle it. He agreed. "About 30 minutes." He never returned. Another issue: with Lux Box seats fully reclined, servers don't have enough room to pass, so we had to adjust our seats. None of this made me think the employees didn't care. Paragon created a first-class physical experience without quite creating a first-class service system to match it. Add a greeter, better signage, an in-seat service request and a better refill system, and this jumps another level. Shout-out to Daniel he was awesome and kindly showed me the Axis15 Extreme auditorium after our movie. ONE MAJOR MISS: ALLERGENS Allergens and dietary restrictions weren't clearly identified online or in the ordering system, so I couldn't confidently order food. That's a major miss for dine-in seating. I would've gladly spent more if I knew what I could safely order. WORTH IT? We spent just under $100 for two Lux Box tickets, popcorn, bottled water and my wife's mocktail. She wasn't a fan of the mocktail. The popcorn? Absolutely. Lux Box? Absolutely. I'd spend the money again. Our standard auditorium was good with the Lux Box seating. For date night? Lux Box. No question. If Axis15 Extreme is available, I'd spend the extra few dollars too. I also noticed how they didn't make the wheelchair-accessible seating with companion seats an after thought. A&J DATE NIGHT TEST Food: 9.2/10 Service: 6.8/10 Atmosphere: 9.4/10 Value: 8.5/10 Dietary Accommodation: 0/10 Overall: 8.5/10 Worth the Drive? Absolutely. Would We Return? Absolutely. Date Night Approved? Absolutely--with reservations about dining. Best For: Date night Must Get: Popcorn + Lux Box Skip: Mocktail Biggest Strength: Seating, popcorn & cleanliness Biggest Weakness: Dine-in service system Paragon has almost everything it needs to become one of our favorite movie-date spots: upscale atmosphere, semi-private Lux Boxes, heated recliners and ridiculously good popcorn. We ordered the popcorn and told to go upstairs to get our popcorn . When we got up there , there was no one there . Everyone started to crowd and it became so crowded , that people couldn't get off the escalator. If it wasn't for the Pepsi only , I'd give them another try, but I won't .

We actually had very good seats. We paid a little extra for the seating but it was so worth it. We were seated in Row A seat 13 & 14. The event lasted 2 hour's with a thirty minute break. This show was very humorous and quirky. It was a very different kind of circus than what I'm use to. I have been to Barnum Bailey Circus and Universal Soul circus. I loved the costumes and everything. We purchased the typical hotdogs and I purchased an icee. They did have a list of adult beverages. My husband said his beer was refreshing. We even stopped by the gift shop on our way out and made two tee-shirt purchases. They have a variety of gifts from binoculars to bags to you name it they had it. They offered parking across the street but we opted for the parking around the corner which was only about $12.00 for 3 1/2 hour's. Again this was a very enjoyable show with a variety of entertainment. We definitely plan on attending again next year. Oh btw restrooms are all outside with plenty available to use before and after the event. Really cute set up and found them to be clean with plenty of soap available. Also spotted a beer garden tent. Didn't have a chance to stop by but that was pretty cool if you want to hang around after the event.

He is a wonderful teacher with all of us despite the wide range of experience we all had a relaxing, successful experience. Highly recommend for an enjoyable family activity! I included some of the art I painted from photos I've taken. You do one painting per visit - or bring it back next time to continue working on it. He taught us technique and really engaged us to be creative!! We loved it!!
