Sometimes they'd go to the park in Clifton (for a lot of the same team building exercises my wife's company had done there); on another day, the kids went caving; and on another day, they went canoeing and swimming. Every evening, she would come back exhausted and happy. What more can you ask for?

Most people know Adventure Links for their popular camp programs for children and teens. However, they also offer stellar corporate team building programs, which is how I got to know them. About five years ago, as the CEO of a growing company of 20 professionals, I was struggling with how to address some growing pains and spice up our upcoming quarterly retreat. A friend recommended Adventure Links, so I scheduled a meeting with Anna, the CEO. Anna came to my office and interviewed me to understand my business, our challenges, and what I hoped to accomplish. She asked many questions, listened, and took notes. The next week, we took our team of 20 to their retreat location. Anna and her team had put together an all-day agenda of activities that went way beyond simple ropes courses. What surprised and "sold" me on them was how she'd managed to incorporate our growing pains into her exercises in meaningful ways. Sure, we had fun and bonded, but more importantly most of us began to see certain everyday problems in meaningful new ways, with fresh solutions. To this day our team references those exercises like old Seinfeld episodes. After each exercise - some physically challenging and all mentally challenging - Anna would bring us together and help us draw correlations to some of our corporate issues. It helped that she has a sharp wit and great sense of humor. She and her team also knew when to push and put us on the spot to drive home a point. Six months later, we wanted to bring Adventure Links back for another quarterly retreat, but this time due to bad weather we had to do the exercises in our office. They totally pulled it off! The indoor exercises were unique and again gave us a fresh perspective on both issues and people. An example - during one intense exercise where we split into two teams, a junior staff person had a "eureka!" moment with a brilliant solution to a problem, and spontaneously took control of our team, which included several executives. I had no idea this young lady was so intellectually gifted and capable of leadership under pressure. How valuable is that information for an employer? My firm has engaged Adventure Links several times since then, all with success. When my children are old enough, I'll be sending them to the Adventure Links camps...I know they'll learn and have fun. Adventure Links rocks!

His then teacher (Ms Yashu) went out of her way to print out the phonetic spelling of Korean words and put it in her classroom to further communicate with my child. I thought that was so endearing and that they truly want everyone to be included. On top of that, they have done a great job potty training him so now he can go to the bathroom by himself as a 3 year old. Even his new teachers learned some Korean words to communicate with him as well. I also really like how in the Goddard app they specify what he ate and didn't eat from the school lunches, or even the separate snacks I provide him every day. It gives me an idea of what his favorites are, and what he enjoys eating. The multiple photos a day they provide are always a great snapchat of his fun-filled day. They have somewhat of a curriculum, which is great for kids to get accustomed to at a young age. They have weekly activities such as PE, learning Chinese, learning Spanish, singing songs with an instructor, as well as plenty of outdoor time. Laura (the owner) does a great job in running the show because there are so many events per month that really show you that they care and that it really is one big family. There are multiple Fall events, Halloween parade, Parent appreciation days, International night, back to school nights, etc. It almost feels as if there's one every other week! After touring between maybe five other daycares, I'm very happy with our decision to come here. The progress my son has had in learning English, learning the alphabet and numbers, potty training, as well as becoming more nimble with his arms and legs. Thank you for everything Goddard of Tysons!

This review is based on my experience, I am not a care or education specialist. The below is purely…read moremy observation and opinion. We have had our children at this Goddard location along with beantree Westfields. To me this was not a "school"- it was a childcare facility with childcare staff and not educators. For the steep price we paid here- there should have been more focus on education. Unfortunately- this location for Goddard was not run well: the two year old class had a teacher that we and other parents witnessed snatch, drag, yell at at and verbally accost several children. Despite three documented compliants to management (two written and one verbal) nothing visibly changed. This staff member remained at the school and even had the audacity to ask my wife on several occasions why we carry our child (a two year old at 7am). I'm addition: -nap times started very late and lasted until after three pm. -despite knowing that my child did not touch specific foods- it was reported on several occasions that he did eat said food. -there was no clearly structured teaching format and unlike Beantree- students were confined to a single classroom for most of the day. (This is my observation) -did not see any specialized educators or areas for them (an art teacher, tech teacher, etc- as well no specialized rooms) -despite proper notice and several emails- they did not give our deposit back! Although I am no school expert- both of my children shine at beantree but my son was visibly worse off and miserable at goodard. As a caring parent- I URGE YOU to look at multiple caretakers before you send your children here. The front desk staff is very pleasant and it's a shame because there are other excellent caretakers at this facility.
