She was also willing to work with me and my visual impairment even though it seemed to be her first time having a visually impaired person in her class. She seemed nervous about it, but she was willing to put that aside, and we negotiated the parts of the class that would be safe for me to participate in (I didn't really want to try the soldering anyway lol). I think that was the thing that most impressed me, she was willing to step outside her comfort zone, and for someone who is teaching a new art form to a bunch of people who are probably stepping outside their own comfort zones I think this is a great quality to have! Highly recommend

I started to go to J Art in 6th grade. I'm now a senior in college (at my dream school, Rhode…read moreIsland School of Design!) and I can say for a fact that I would not have gotten to this point without J Art. I came here for 6-7 years constantly; I even moved to Florida for a couple years for my mom's job and I visited VA during my breaks just to attend J Art and work on my art. If it matters to the parents reading, J Art also helped me apply to (and win) lots of art competitions that I otherwise would not have known about. I also think the strictness level varies for each student, as every teacher I worked with were talented and kind in their own unique ways. I'll keep my review short but I can say that I'm truly grateful for everything I've learned from here and that I miss it very much! Easily the easiest 5 stars I can give to any establishment. I would give 10 if I could!

The teachers are thoughtful, gentle, but firm enough to instill order and respect. It has definitely been a great help in my endeavor of raising bilingual kids. The school is not only focused on academic advancement, but also on creativity, cultural context, physical health. Of paramount importance is the aspect that the administration cares for health and wellness standards! They inform parents of medical concerns related to the spread of diseases; have well-established policies regarding elevated body temperature, cough and other symptoms as applied to ability to attend classes. This year, i'm hoping both my 5 and 8 year old will be able to do Chinese classes after school online. When we were going in person, the lovely Ms. Aga provided healthy after-school snacks and a great environment for learning and fun. Each classroom had a rainbow wall of art supplies that i always wished i could emulate at home (but am nowhere near organized enough to pull off). My daughter's Chinese teachers were good, kind, and conscientious, and the other language teachers also seemed really proficient and caring.
