I previously took a class on cookie decorating... but have wanted to sign up for several of the other offerings like learning to paint my pet or paper flower making. While we are under stay at home orders, Give Rise has been doing some online yoga offerings and instructions. They have also been doing kits for at home crafting that seem incredible! I truly think Give Rise is a great resource for the community and showcases amazing talent. I cannot wait til things are back to normal and I can come in for another workshop!

When you first walk in you are greeted and presented with the various projects that the shop has to offer. After selecting pottery painting, canvas painting, or glass fusing you are explained the next steps. We each selected two objects to paint and spent the afternoon in the studio painting away. We go pick up our art in 10 days which is the processing time. The shop does have a strict 60 day policy to pickup within or your art is thrown out. A fun and unique experience!

Instructions were clear, supplies were all we needed and the instructor took time to help my husband when he fell behind (I mean, took his time). The space was set well for the crowd, and there was enough room that we weren't bumping elbows. Bring your own drink-- stop by a local brewery on the way or visit the Dunkin' next door if that's more your speed. As a comparison, this is much more of an art class than a Paint Nite experience, in my opinion. That was totally fine for us, as we planned more for the evening. The general selection of ceramics was a bit smaller than other local places, but they offer a variety of stuff to choose from. In addition to the adult paint nights, they also offer kids classes (two hours, drop off). We'll be back.

So off we went to the arts center (just 5 steps from the garage). Did we ever make it to our original destination, no, but we certainly had a fun time exploring the arts center and would definitely go back again. There is so much to do and see - all 3 levels (I excluded the basement as we never made it down there (pressed for time). When in the area, please make it a point to visit this spot. It's a unique art school combined with artists' workshops on three levels. They offer an array of classes for artists and for novice looking for a fun hobby. The classes posted that I saw were for drawing,painting, and live model drawing. Some studio rooms were quite small, while other room were larger for classes/workshops. I came for the grand opening celebration. The founder's young son was greeting people at the door and giving a well rehearsed explanation of all they had to offer. I was impressed. It was quite fun going in all the rooms and meeting some of the artists. I hope to visit again soon... maybe partake in a class one day.
