I did a glass fusion class here with my wife, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it…read more We got a groupon for it, and went not being sure of what to expect. We've never worked with glass before, but the staff explained the decorative options well and had plenty of materials and tools available. The staff was always helpful and very friendly, and did a great job supervising the class and helping out when needed. We paid the extra $10 each to 'slump' our flat glass discs into bowl shape after they are melted. I would have liked a slightly curved plate option but that wasn't available. This requires a second run through the kiln, so the price is understandable. Sadly, it may take up to 4 weeks for the plates to finish the fusing process, although we saw some finished examples that looked gorgeous. I had one minor complaint, and that's only because I'm being nit-picky: the staff was hard to find sometimes during the class. There were plenty of staff members there, I just kept forgetting who they were since they didn't have nametags or aprons or anything to identify them.

I enjoyed the small class as it felt more personable and by the end all of us were chit chatting and having a great time. Our instructor Kim was very helpful and fun. The event was 3 hours which I think was perfect. I liked that we painted and then took small breaks to let the paint dry. It wasn't just paint, paint, paint. The shop is super cute and very clean. I can't wait to go back for another Sip n' Paint event or a glass fusion class! Kim said she wanted to try doing a jewelry making class which I would definitely attend! If your looking for a relaxing and fun night out with your girlfriends, significant other or anyone I highly recommend checking one of these events out!

It's been about a year since I started taking pottery classes at Something Earthy and it literally…read morehas been a true joy. Though I still feel pretty insanely novice on the wheel, I've pumped out some pieces that I'm pretty proud of... and many pieces that... could use some work lol. Linda is the owner and head teacher at the studio and she is quite literally the best. She is SUPER friendly, always willing to help, and honestly has become someone who I consider a friend. Something Earthy is not just a studio that offers weekly classes though, there is a pottery shop that is filled with her work, students work, and other local artisan's crafts. As if that isn't a enough, Linda also makes homemade jams and jellys and freeze dried candy that she sells in the store portion. There are also small classes for younger children where they can choose a pre-molded ceramic and paint it. Linda even grows produce and sells it during the season. But yeah, it has become one of my favorite little retreats. This is the epitomy of a hidden gem and I could go on blushing about how amazing this place is for pages, but rather than TLDR-ing you, I'll just say that if you're in the area - or even if you're not - you should stop by shop and inquire about classes.

There is even a 'scenic view' exit on the way (clustered towers of Frederick), which we stopped at for a few minutes. I suggest going earlier in the day to avoid traffic. If you buy the groupon, once you get there you check-in to the "kids barn" and are told that a hayride will take you to two stops: the corn maze and then the pumpkin patch. You get off at the corn maze and go through it to find the pumpkin patch (don't worry - you will find your way), and then take a hayride back to the main shop. You won't feel out of place and only among children, there are people of all ages. We picked several pumpkins which ended up costing around $17. (49 cents a lb sounds cheap until you weigh huge pumpkins). They also sell pie pumpkins (which are SO cute and tiny!) for a cheap price in the store so you can get those if you're not into carving pumpkins. Just ask a staff member to help you if you can't find them. It was my first time doing something like this and I highly enjoyed it. Great fun, cheap date idea. Food-wise they have fried food typical of country fairs: funnel cake, fried oreos, mozzarella sticks, hamburgers and hotdogs.
