When I asked the instructor if she could have them dance instead of sit on the floor, she said the only way she could CONTROL them was to have them sit for the entire class. This is not the way a dance class should be run. The owner also does not care about nor addresses parent concerns. This place should not even be allowed to call themselves a dance studio. There are so many better dance studios out there. Don't waste your time with this one.

The owner Becky was extremely rude and not easy to work with! I was so upset as to how she treated me & feel she was very unprofessional! We will never go back to Carroll county dance center & will tell everyone we know in the area to find another dance center! It has been and continues to be a positive place for our munchkins to learn dance (and made some good friends to boot). Avoid this place at all costs! The owner of this studio (Donna Grim) is a cruel, vicious woman. I…read moredon't mean that she is tough on the dancers, I mean she is sadistic to some. My daughter got "the treatment" when she transferred to the studio (she was a top-notch dancer) and refused Donna's suggestion that she join "the company" (the elite competition girls). We had moved studios because my daughter wanted to concentrate on her education, and just wanted high-quality classes without the time obligations. In ONE semester, the owner managed to destroy my daughter's self-esteem and self-confidence, and kill all love of dance in her. In hindsight it is apparent that she was brutally taunting my kid, although my child was scared to tell me until I finally witnessed something myself and started questioning her. (I am NOT a dance mom). When I talked to Donna, she blew me off and told me that even though my daughter was in all the same classes as the "company girls" she was excluded and was an outsider, because she wouldn't commit. The level of vitriol from this woman was spine-chilling, and I pulled my daughter immediately - never even finishing the performance that evening and the next. I found out afterwards that Donna (who taught the classes) would single her out and humiliate her in front of the other girls, calling her stupid and clumsy, and encouraging the other children to mock her. Mind you, my daughter was the top of her classically-trained school before she transferred in. Because of the genre switch, my daughter assumed that SHE was at fault, and worked even harder, but this horrid woman would single her out the next time. It has been almost 8 years since that happened, and my daughter has never danced since. I would avoid this place at all costs. YOUR kid may never get the sadistic treatment, but it trickles down to the other dancers. They never actually shunned my kid, but many other dancers were treated poorly by the other kids. It's just an environment that is dark and unpleasant.

Schedules are important to those who work and those supporting multiple kids activities. It's a juggling act. In addition, the kids often have other things they need to do following activities- homework, chores, etc. It's frustrating to me that a schedule is changed three times in 48 hours. While this may seem normal to the studio, it's rude and ridiculous. It's equally frustrating that we often wait 10+ minutes after class is scheduled to finish to pick up my child. Today, there was a 28 minute wait. I can't say enough about the progress of my child at the studio. She has learned a lot in a short time and loves it. Just be consistent and maintain schedules. We are all customers and the experience matters to everyone.

I was drawn here after taking a class from Mourien sponsored by the apartment complex I am living in. Mourien is super energetic and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her steps are unique compared to other classes I have been to. They are fun and easy to follow. Her studio is conveniently across the street from the apartment and right next to the very tempting brusters icecream parlor. It is a large dance space with a child care room and changing rooms. The space was essentially packed with devoted Zumba enthusiasts for the Saturday morning class with Mourien. Again, her dance moves were fun and I barely noticed that I was drenched until after the class. Classes can be purchased per class, packages (6, 12, 18), or unlimited monthly. Try the drop in class for $7 with Mourien and I bet you will be hooked.
