It is a very proffessional dance school. The camps in the summer are all about fun! My child goes every summer. The best part is they make friends in the school and grow up with each other. That does not happen at this school.

We found Carroll county dance center & as far as the classes went our daughter enjoyed them. I found the classes to be educational & structured. Our HUGE problem came to when they had the dance recital at the end of the year. They required a lot of rehearsals for this young of age and the coat was really expensive! The day of the recital our daughters section was finished & I wanted her to leave because we had family in town. I was not interrupting the show and this was happening during intermission. The owner Becky was extremely rude and not easy to work with! I was so upset as to how she treated me & feel she was very unprofessional! We will never go back to Carroll county dance center & will tell everyone we know in the area to find another dance center! They really showed their true colors at the recital & all comes down to the show & money!!!

My thoughts on this studio:…read more 1. Don't bother with the dress code. I purchased my dancer specific dancewear after talking to the Registrar, Flora, about the dress code. The majority of dancers are not following the dress code. 2. Don't expect a peaceful studio. The handbook specifically says under the sharing spaces section: keep voices at a low volume to reduce distractions and noise and show each other respect and kindness. This was not enforced. After every class, the dancers coming out of the prior class were extremely noisy for 30-45 minutes outside the studio. It was extremely disrespectful to my dancer's class. After I politely requested for quiet in the studio, my request was ignored and the behavior continued. 3. Don't expect to feel welcome as a new dancer. Priority is given to dancers not new to the studio. I had questions about my dancer, and the school director, Alex, could not be bothered to evaluate my dancer. 4. Be prepared for a weird smell. The smell of the studio made my asthma worsen. I want to mention this because I know how frustrating it can be to enter a space that triggers asthma for those who suffer from it.

They are a non-profit organization that is more interested in teaching dance as an art form than making a buck. I've had at least one of my munchkins going here for the last 4 years (ever since we moved to this area). Between them they've taken Ballet 1, 2, 3, 4, Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Modern Dance, Tap, and Jazz...so I think we've seen quite a variety of classes. We could not be happier with KDT. It has been and continues to be a positive place for our munchkins to learn dance (and made some good friends to boot). If you're in the market for a place for your little ones (or even big ones) to learn about dance I'd definitely suggest checking them out.

Avoid this place at all costs! The owner of this studio (Donna Grim) is a cruel, vicious woman. I…read moredon't mean that she is tough on the dancers, I mean she is sadistic to some. My daughter got "the treatment" when she transferred to the studio (she was a top-notch dancer) and refused Donna's suggestion that she join "the company" (the elite competition girls). We had moved studios because my daughter wanted to concentrate on her education, and just wanted high-quality classes without the time obligations. In ONE semester, the owner managed to destroy my daughter's self-esteem and self-confidence, and kill all love of dance in her. In hindsight it is apparent that she was brutally taunting my kid, although my child was scared to tell me until I finally witnessed something myself and started questioning her. (I am NOT a dance mom). When I talked to Donna, she blew me off and told me that even though my daughter was in all the same classes as the "company girls" she was excluded and was an outsider, because she wouldn't commit. The level of vitriol from this woman was spine-chilling, and I pulled my daughter immediately - never even finishing the performance that evening and the next. I found out afterwards that Donna (who taught the classes) would single her out and humiliate her in front of the other girls, calling her stupid and clumsy, and encouraging the other children to mock her. Mind you, my daughter was the top of her classically-trained school before she transferred in. Because of the genre switch, my daughter assumed that SHE was at fault, and worked even harder, but this horrid woman would single her out the next time. It has been almost 8 years since that happened, and my daughter has never danced since. I would avoid this place at all costs. YOUR kid may never get the sadistic treatment, but it trickles down to the other dancers. They never actually shunned my kid, but many other dancers were treated poorly by the other kids. It's just an environment that is dark and unpleasant.

Not only did I gain invaluable technique training from Donna and other fabulous teachers (namely Ms. Gayle-- the resident Ballet guru), I also learned how be a compassionate, team-oriented and driven person in the world. Yes, the classes are challenging. Yes, hard life lessons are learned on the dance floor, but I wouldn't trade my years with Donna for anything. I was encouraged to cultivate a passion for dance at Dance Unlimited that has stayed with me my entire life. The community that is created by Donna and the other teachers is one that is irreplaceable. I still keep in touch with many of my former team mates and their parents! My training at DU has paid off-- as I am now a professional in the musical theater industry-- represented by a great NYC agency and working in regional theaters around the country. Dance Unlimited is a save haven for those who love to dance and want to get themselves to the next level both personally and technically!

Schedules are important to those who work and those supporting multiple kids activities. It's a juggling act. In addition, the kids often have other things they need to do following activities- homework, chores, etc. It's frustrating to me that a schedule is changed three times in 48 hours. While this may seem normal to the studio, it's rude and ridiculous. It's equally frustrating that we often wait 10+ minutes after class is scheduled to finish to pick up my child. Today, there was a 28 minute wait. I can't say enough about the progress of my child at the studio. She has learned a lot in a short time and loves it. Just be consistent and maintain schedules. I was drawn here after taking a class from Mourien sponsored by the apartment complex I am living in. Mourien is super energetic and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her steps are unique compared to other classes I have been to. They are fun and easy to follow. Her studio is conveniently across the street from the apartment and right next to the very tempting brusters icecream parlor. It is a large dance space with a child care room and changing rooms. The space was essentially packed with devoted Zumba enthusiasts for the Saturday morning class with Mourien. Again, her dance moves were fun and I barely noticed that I was drenched until after the class. Classes can be purchased per class, packages (6, 12, 18), or unlimited monthly. Try the drop in class for $7 with Mourien and I bet you will be hooked.
