If you are looking for not only strength, but flexibility, motivation, and health education than…read moreChris Williamson is for you! When we started my training I was in physical therapy for my shoulders, and Chris gave gave me a challenging fitness routine that worked in conjunction with my therapist all while building the muscle groups that had been out of commission. I have been active my whole life, but until I started working out with Chris I didn't realize how my own routine wasn't serving me as well as I thought. I love that he did a range of motion and strength assessment before we started and then showed me through those same metrics how much I had improved in just 2 months. Additionally, I am in my 30s, so what might have worked in my 20s just wasn't efficient for my workout anymore. Chris's ability to use functional movement along with weight training is a great combination and so refreshing. Being flexible is just as important to me as being strong, and Chris recognizes that. Chris is also great at checking-in with me at every session to see not only how the exercises we have been doing are working for me, but to see, if I have anything specific I want to address. For example, I have always wanted to do a headstand (eventually a handstand). I told Chris this and he was really helpful in figuring out the best way for me to start building up to doing an unassisted headstand. Lastly, as a gadget girl and tech junkie, I love Chris's use of Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram in helping clients like me stay motivated and interested. Definitely ask Chris about creating a secret Pinterest board to visually document your physical progress. Also follow him on Instagram and Facebook for recipes, daily motivation, fitness tips, and more. Chris, you are all-around awesome! Thank you for your continued coaching, professionalism, and friendship.

I was drawn here after taking a class from Mourien sponsored by the apartment complex I am living in. Mourien is super energetic and her enthusiasm is contagious. Her steps are unique compared to other classes I have been to. They are fun and easy to follow. Her studio is conveniently across the street from the apartment and right next to the very tempting brusters icecream parlor. It is a large dance space with a child care room and changing rooms. The space was essentially packed with devoted Zumba enthusiasts for the Saturday morning class with Mourien. Again, her dance moves were fun and I barely noticed that I was drenched until after the class. Classes can be purchased per class, packages (6, 12, 18), or unlimited monthly. Try the drop in class for $7 with Mourien and I bet you will be hooked.

I should have written this review at least a year ago. I moved from Virginia to Maryland in…read moremid-2014 and had to leave behind a top notch pilates studio in McLean (Pengu) I was surprised to find it difficult to locate a new studio of the same caliber within a reasonable driving distance. I tried a couple of places and ended up using one near Shady Grove Hospital that was just okay. Okay because I already had experience and could do some corrections by myself. Not great. I tried a studio in Kentlands that was great, but it closed shortly after my first class. So I looked northward to Germantown and found CoMMotion. I had found my studio at last. The pilates studio only has 4 Reformers, so there is a lot of opportunity for personal attention from the instructors. If classes are smaller than 4, the instructor usually takes advantage of the tower and the Cadillac machines. The drive from Gaithersburg is about 5 minutes against traffic. I usually take classes with Bonnie, the owner of the dance studio co-located with the pilates studio. Because she is a dancer, she is alert to the minutiae that make a big difference in the changes pilates can make to your body.
