Making the trek from D.C. with a friend to hear Yotam Ottolenghi, a chef and food writer, speak was worth it. Here's why. 1) Space: The music center itself is massive with a hall that holds almost 2,000 people. The space also comes with a few bars and dining areas with a buffet and grab-n-go food. There are an art gallery and classrooms too. The restrooms are clean and spacious. 2) Location: It's very far from the city, but a free parking garage is nearby that connects to the music hall. Additionally, the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station is right there too.

The location is great and connected via walkway to the Metro parking lot (Go to Floor 4 directly for the walkway). Getting out of the parking lot is a bit harder, but not impossible. The bathroom facilities could be updated, but they are also strategically placed all over for intermissions. The photo is from the Promenade Right. Would I come here again? Yes if the event is right. Also, always eat before coming to an event. The food served here is way too expensive.

I hadn't been in a while and was excited to return -- I'd even told my friend, who had never been, that the food was really good. I have Celiac's disease, and on my last visit, there were several gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu, which I really appreciated. I was disappointed to find that was no longer the case. Our waitress kindly suggested salmon, which wasn't listed on the menu, but unfortunately that's not something I enjoy. I ended up with only an $18 iceberg lettuce salad with tomatoes, shaved carrots, and one boiled egg and without the croutons. I had saved my appetite all day for a real meal out, and left the evening still hungry. I sent an email to the theater the next day asking that they consdier adding a gluten-free option or two and having them clearly marked -- both in the venue and on their online menu. I told them that simple additions like baked chicken, roasted potatoes, and green beans would make a world of difference for guests with dietary restrictions. I sent that email on March 14. Today is March 22 and I haven't heard anything back. I saw some upcoming acts that I'd be interested in and I'd love to go to the theater again, but won't until they've added some gluten-free options.

I personally like the ones near the center booth, looking straight ahead. No sharing with strangers and table in front. Viewing-stage is large and screen as well. Easy viewing. Food- the food was just all right. You can tell it was warmed up and fresh-ish. We had wings, fries, and ceased salad. Long wait times for other guests throughout the night. Catfish looked good. Drinks- we got a bottle of wine reasonably priced. Long wait times. Timing- getting food and drinks took waaay too long. It took over 30 mins to get a bottle of wine. We got our food bf that. Folks around us were frustrated too. Service-everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. Staff was running around helping patrons and other staff. Price- the ticket price was fine. Tax and fees seemed high. And the %20 added gratuity was standard but then our server got awkward asking for an additional tip(several times). The host put on a really lovely event! Thanks for having us!

The Lawn area is just that - the area of the lawn to the sides - bring your blanket or low chairs and enjoy the show. As you arrive for the show, you will need to park in the designated areas mentioned by Olney Theatre Center - before each show you will receive an email with this information. Have your tickets ready as you will need to show it to some employees positioned under a tent near the Olney Outdoors area (this is behind the theaters). Want to snack on something: They do have beer, wine, cocktails, mocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and a few snacks available for purchase - Menu is available at their stand. I attended a performance with a band called Orquesta Manplesa (listed as DC's newest and hottest salsa band) and I loved that a dance floor was provided for people to dance on. For that type of music, it is hard to dance on grass. Salsa lessons were provided by Salsa with Silvia during the performance and many took advantage. It was my first time attending. I had so much fun that I went back for another show soon after - Marshall Charloff & The Purple xPeRIeNCE which is listed as the most celebrated tribute to Prince. It certainly was as I had the best time ever. Happy Dancing!!! Tip # 1: Doors open 2 hours before each show. Tip # 2: Check the FAQs before attending. Visited August 2025

I was able to park directly in front of the entrance and walk right in. The setup was really nice--plenty of tables and a huge area for dancing. The DJ was spinning not only the hits but also deep cuts and some previously unreleased versions of his songs. Behind her, a projector played clips from Prince's past performances, which added a great visual vibe to the night. There was a small cash bar offering Prince-themed cocktails, plus beer and wine. The staff were fantastic and even popped in a few times to dance and celebrate with us. The venue itself was absolutely gorgeous--cool and comfortable despite all the dancing. I never imagined this would be such a great place to host or attend a party, but I'd definitely come to another event here.

Here is what you need to know: + Garage parking is free on Sundays + Tickets are sent electronically along with a helpful email and storybook pdf that helps prepare young children on what to expect when they go to the theatre + The theatre is truly intimate -- there is not a bad seat in the house (Trust me -- we were last row, on the side of the stage and still had a great view!) + Children's shows can be quite corny and cut corners when it terms to production value but not at Imagination Stage. I was really impressed by the quality of acting and the set of "Dory Fantasmagory." + They offer lots of free programming such as "Meet the Cast", family yoga, and a children's fashion show to go with the play. I went with a group of children ages 4 - 11 and they had everyone entertained. Seeing everyone's faces light up and laughing out loud has truly filled my cup of cuteness for the entire week. Thanks again Imagination Stage. Can't wait to visit again!
