Art By The Glazz - Great time with great people

    Art By The Glazz

No artistic experience needed, just bring a positive attitude and an open mind for creativity!…read more There is no wrong way to paint at these classes, you will begin the class uneasy and perhaps overwhelmed but you will leave with a finished piece that will leave you inspired and excited to paint again! The teachers here are bubbly go-getters that incite your imagination and open your eyes to the fact that though you may think you are talentless, but by the end you discover there is some hidden aptitude roaring to come out! Art by the Glazz is different from other studio painting sessions because it's not as serious; they are leading you through a painting, not completely instructing you. They guide you through a particular painting by providing a small example print out of what you are doing but the insistence will be to make it your own by providing you a variety of colors that aren't even in the example and showing you techniques on their own canvas instead of painting by number. Everyone's canvas will be different and unique by the end of the class unlike other studios where everyone only has small differences based on their level of experience. I personally as an artist that has learned in a structured classroom, find the way they conduct the class to be invigorating, it has helped me to loosen my hold on my usually precise brush and experiment with new ways to do things (and actually finish a painting in one evening!). During the class you can expect music to be playing, toasts to be made with your small wine glasses, and conversations to be happening all around you. Towards the end, you will feel as if you have made new friends and will be amazed by all the other artistic gifts surrounding you. The wine glasses may be tiny but they are generous in refilling, be thankful the wine glasses are small because it prevents anyone from being too tipsy to drive after the 3 hour session but giddy enough to get loose and feel good while painting. You can find the studio in the same plaza as Willard's BBQ near the Chantilly Expo Center. You will have fun, you will discover something new about yourself, you will walk away with a lovely finished painting, and you may just learn how to open your mind up again and stop being that perfectionist.

Well reschedule for a month from now and we will make it up with more wine and fun. A month later and the morning of I receive an email saying I had to confirm whether I was coming to the makeup class. That was not mentioned in the previous email at all. So I start fanatically calling, and emailing. No response. My friend and I decide okay we will go and discuss. At this point I'm pretty irritated but I try to give the company the benefit of the doubt. They're busy, it's Saturday. We arrive that night and there are a group of women waiting outside. They said they had been knocking on the door for half an hour with no answer. If I could give zero stars I would.

We've been lucky enough to have Eric Jao teach both my teenage sons through the Mix Major program…read more They are both musically-inclined but not in the traditional instrumental way, and gravitated towards digital music production. The Mix Major introductory course was prefect for giving them a basic understanding to make music via the computer on their own and it sparked their interest to learn more. Under the mentorship of Eric Jao they continue with customized lessons tailored to their growing skillset and interests, while learning important concepts in music theory, composition, and digital production. They end each lesson so excited about all the new things they've learned to apply to their music. High recommend.

We really got a chance to dig into his own analysis on everything from conventional hip hop, female rappers and trap music. Although Roel was reluctant when we first signed him up to his first MixMajor class in 2018, he really enjoyed learning how to structure his music, utilize a range of samples, and become really competent with Ableton to create his own songs. By the time he presented his music at the listening session at Soundcheck in the fall of 2019, he really started to spread his wings in terms of music production. "I enjoy finding the ingredients to make a good cake. That's kinda like making music you enjoy hearing, you want to know what it takes to make good music," Roel M. It's easy to see Eric Jao's commitment to music, from his days as one of Northern Virginia's best turntablists, his LiveRemix Project, to building one of the first music production schools in the area. MixMajor has really helped my son gain confidence with a range of tools associated with music production. Even better that Eric was able to pivot to online learning as quickly as he did too! Roel just graduated high school and has plans to major in engineering in college. He is also one of 87 students nationwide to attend the 2021 Virtual Grammy Camp held by the Grammy Museum for Audio Engineering this summer. We owe a great deal to Mr. Jao for his continued guidance and mentorship through the MixMajor!
