The size of the space is good for some smaller touring performers, and the sound quality has been excellent both times that I have been here. Service was pretty quick and the servers have been friendly. Further, the food that I have tried has been good and fresh, and they have a decent drink selection. While my service was quick, I arrived pretty early so there were only a couple others there at first. They seemingly only had one server for everyone, which is wild and things were more delayed once it got busier. Additionally, the tables are so close together it would be inaccessible if all seats were filled. The row on the other side of my table only had one person, yet it was still difficult for that person to get out because the other table whose backs were facing them had most spots filled. It was hard and disruptive for people to get out of their seats to go to the restroom and such because seats were super close together. Had both sides of the tables been filled, people would have either been stuck where they were or everyone else would have had to get up to let them out. The way that the tables are placed also makes it hard for some seats to see the performer(s) without fully turning their chair (which, given the space issues, wouldnt work for everyone to do). Anyway, I do like this venue, but I hope they reconsider the setup. While this may mean a reduction in premium price seating, it would be a much better experience for attendees.

That should be enough time to queue up with the other people waiting for the front doors to open and find a table. If you don't want to eat then show up later and plan on going directly to your seat. We chose the dinner option and it worked out fine. We weren't that hungry but it allowed us to sit comfortably at a table, enjoy some beverages, and share their delicious deviled eggs. It's a good thing that the eggs were good. My wife is allergic to gluten and that's about the only option we had. 2.5 eggs for $15 may seem a bit expensive, because it is. However, thanks to the slices of jalapeno pepper on each one, the dribbles of hot sauce for dipping, and the amazing maple-coated bacon slices, we weren't complaining.

There were 3 noteworthy times I visited. Once was Friday, August 2, 2019 and then just 5 weeks later on Friday, September 6, 2019. Early August was still relatively new in a relationship of that time, a little more than a month in. We enjoyed a Smiths/Morrissey cover band. 5 weeks later my friend invited us to a show there. September 6, 2019 was a bad day because more than half my company was laid off. I knew of a financial crisis occurring in late August but was unaware of the gravity of it. A coworker warned me that afternoon before to save anything on computer you want to keep. So, I was in a panic state. That morning I had a doctor appointment. My manager called later in morning of what occurred was that we were both keeping our jobs, but lots of people were called in to tell them their job was ending. My mood was kinda depressed at the people who were gone and the g/f & I had a disagreement about something. Ultimately, the show was good, but I don't really have much recollection wasn't so good. Long after later in September 2023, two friends who had become a couple invited me & our mutual friend to a show here. We reserved table and ate there. I got a burger I think, which was decent. I think I got a beer too with my burger. Great band once again! In summary, State Theater is an older venue but has some historic charm. I've had some good memories here.

I started planning this in the beginning of the year and Sriram Hariharan is one of the most giving, caring and supportive person I know. He put me in touch with all the right resources. He would follow up to see how things are going. I would say his detail to customer service and experience is exceptional. Next is Rohit Ray who assisted every step of the way helping me with my attendee numbers , the set up design and more. He was there throughout the whole party. Rohit's kindness and grace that is unwavering. Finally, our server Astrid. She oversaw my last shower in January and I know we were in good hands when I saw her last Saturday. she is truly A+. She made sure the event went smoothly. Was proactive in helping us get things organized, and when one of the guests reported she was a vegetarian she made changes so her tea party food was vegetarian. The entire celebration was impeccable. I had 26 people attend and one person shared they've experienced three high teas in London and the experience at this party was the best one yet. After the party ended, I received so many calls telling me how elegant the party was, how exceptional the service was. And how wonderful all the food was. I will give honorable mention to Smail and the director of valet who helped us bring up the party favors and flowers and more. my heart is full. It was a magical experience we will continue to talk about.

The venue is like a really clean dive bar that hosts live music. The staff were all very polite and incredibly welcoming. To be situated at the Wharf, the food and beverages were surprisingly affordable... at least by DC standards. The general admission tickets are for standing only. I paid for premium seating and got, well... an actual seat. Unfortunately, this is where I ran into issues. I really wish that Union Stage would offer more smaller tables (1-2 tops) because I had the unfortunate experience of being forced to involuntarily third-wheel some random couple's date night. As someone who frequently attends concerts alone, I hate communal seating. If I'm paying extra for a seat, I don't want to spend the evening sharing a table with strangers. In this case, the couple who joined me at my table spent much of the show carrying on conversations, using flash photography despite it being prohibited, and generally making themselves unwelcome part of my concert experience. It was distracting, annoying, and made it difficult to fully enjoy the performance. Adding more 1-2 top tables for solo concertgoers or couples would significantly improve the premium seating experience by giving people the option to enjoy the show uninterrupted and with the company they actually chose (and paid!) to spend the evening with. It's also worth noting that there is no wait staff to serve you at the tables. So if you grab a seat at a table, make sure you have something to put on the table to indicate that it is occupied. There are QR codes on the table where you can order and pay, but you still have to go to the floor to pick up your food. I got a half cheese pizza and an Aperol Spritz. The pizza was good by dive bar standards. Nothing special about it, but it hit the spot. The Aperol Spritz was also surprisingly good. The sound system is great. However, we need to talk about the lighting situation. I'm not sure if this is how Union Stage typically operates or if this is something that can be attributed to the artist, but the lighting choices for this concert were overwhelming. I've been to dozens of concerts over the course of my life, but I've never had spotlights that repeatedly point directly into the audience, but that was my experience throughout this entire show. I had to put on my sunglasses in this dark venue to keep myself from being quite literally blinded by the light. The background lights and everything were fine, but repeatedly shining spotlights into the crowd was not a good choice. The most expensive part of this night, by far, was the parking, which is not the fault of the venue. I paid $38 to park for 4 hours, but fortunately it was a very short walk to the venue. There are multiple parking garages as well as an extremely limited amount of street parking near this venue. The garage was the only feasible option that evening since so many people were out for the concert, viewing the World Cup, as well as attending events at other bars and restaurants in the general area. All told, I had a really great time at Union Stage. While I hate traveling into DC and I'm not keen on spending $40 on parking, if there's another artist performing at this venue that I want to see, I would definitely come back.

The ticket purchasing process wasn't user friendly. It was difficult to navigate and figure out how to select premium ticket options. They provided free drink tokens to select attendees so some of my friends in our group of 5 received them and some didn't. The space has a nice set up for smaller scale ans intimate events. They have a full bar a a small food menu. The sound in the space made it difficult to hear audience members at times and the format made it feel.lilw things were dragging. I enjoyed the concept but would love to see a few tweaks for improvement.
