What a lovely venue. This place upgrades, "Dinner and a show." The Barnes is a short drive away from Wolf Trap (pay attention to both addresses). The Barnes does not have shuttle service to the location. However, parking is free. You just need to arrive early to secure a spot. The web site does a great job at providing useful information about traveling to the area and what to expect. The place is small enough that even a full house doesn't feel over whelming. Have your tickets loaded on your phone for easy scanning. Everything you need is basically in one intimate area. The entrance to the restaurant/bar is straight ahead, once you go inside. The bathrooms are located before the theater doors. The dining area is beside the bar and in the next room. You can take your beer, wine or soda inside the theater. The food items include sandwiches, fries and salads. You can order from an app or at the bar. The Barns is a real barn. It is beautiful. The acoustics are great. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The ushers are great about getting you to your location (even in the dark). If you have a walker or rollator, the staff will escort you to a seat and bring your equipment back to you when you leave. This is a great place to enjoy a concert and date night. Exiting isn't painful since the parking lot is small. Navigating traffic by Tyson's Corner was more challenging than arriving/leaving.

What an amazing experience from parking to leaving. This was our first time at The Barns. This was the only event going on so parking right in front of The Barns were easy. We got here right at 6:30 when door opens. If you are planning on eating/drinking then I do recommend getting there at 6:30. We ordered via QR code and was also able to pay/tip right through it. The food was better than expected. I liked that you can sit down and enjoy the food and glass of wine. The theater itself was a lot smaller than what we expected but in a good way. What is even better is that we had front row seat! Amazing! We were here to see Sara Evans and it was a great experience. The staffing from the front door to dining service to ushers were top notch. I would definitely choose concerts at this venue again.

This place is sooo beautiful and definitely a great place to cozy winter concert. Atmosphere (5/5): the barn (moved from northern US) is such a beautiful place. Food (3/5): Come early to grab a bite and a drink at the cafe. The food is not the best, not the worst, but it is pricey. A $8 bottle of wine is over $30 and unlike Wolf Trap, you can't bring your own food. Service (2/5): In spite of the high prices, there's no table service. .

Love, Love, love the Barns. A very nice intimate venue for music. Sitting for 500. They have an excellent sitting area to get food & beverages. Plenty of parking. Makes Fall & Winter at Wolftrap special.

So, since I was a little baby dyke I've always wanted to play at Wolf Trap. Well, last October I finally got my chance..... kinda. Although our band is doing pretty well, we still haven't graced Wolf Trap's Filene Center Stage. So, if you can't play the place, what's the second best thing? Yep, rent it out. The most popular part of Wolf Trap is the Filene Center, with it's beautiful lawn and summer concerts. There's also The Barns of Wolf Trap which are two historic barns (one English and one German circa 1800) which were a gift to Wolf Trap. They are from upstate New York and were dismantled piece-by-piece and rebuilt at their current site about a half mile south of the Filene Center. Throughout the year you can catch shows by your favorite indie artists and The Wolf Trap Opera company October through May. And, if you're feeling like getting hitched or having an exquisite event, you can rent the Barns... and this is just what we did after our wedding in Massachussetts (because Virginia thinks we're unraveling the moral fabric of society and traditional marriage... just ask Ted Haggard). Anyway.... The Barns are beautiful, with incredible sound, stage, bar, and ambience. If you're interested in having any type of event there, contact Rose. She was the most helpful, friendly and patient person throughout the whole process. You couldn't ask for a nicer person when planning nuptials. For rental of both barns, you're looking at about 3K. If you're planning on having an event on a Saturday night, you must rent both barns. Additionally, the caterer you use has to be on their list of approved caterers (because of the historic nature of the buildings and the liability). This was no problem because the caterers we chose ,Well Dunn Catering, were absolutely magnificent. More on them when I have time to gush appropriately. Needless to say, I ended up playing at Wolf Trap and it was well worth it.

Very friendly staff. Audience room is small and intimate, really no bad seat unless you sit all the way to the back. Food was just okay, but service was quick.

The size of the space is good for some smaller touring performers, and the sound quality has been excellent both times that I have been here. Service was pretty quick and the servers have been friendly. Further, the food that I have tried has been good and fresh, and they have a decent drink selection. While my service was quick, I arrived pretty early so there were only a couple others there at first. They seemingly only had one server for everyone, which is wild and things were more delayed once it got busier. Additionally, the tables are so close together it would be inaccessible if all seats were filled. The row on the other side of my table only had one person, yet it was still difficult for that person to get out because the other table whose backs were facing them had most spots filled. It was hard and disruptive for people to get out of their seats to go to the restroom and such because seats were super close together. Had both sides of the tables been filled, people would have either been stuck where they were or everyone else would have had to get up to let them out. The way that the tables are placed also makes it hard for some seats to see the performer(s) without fully turning their chair (which, given the space issues, wouldnt work for everyone to do). Anyway, I do like this venue, but I hope they reconsider the setup. While this may mean a reduction in premium price seating, it would be a much better experience for attendees.

Have tried Izakaya Nana, Genki Izakaya and Super Kyuramen and been to Izakayas in Tokyo and Kyoto…read more I love that so many Izakayas have opened in the NoVA area. The bad thing about Genki Izakaya is how crowded it can be. I'm not sure I would show up without reservations again. I've been there 3 times, the first time we didn't have a reservation and the hostess seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. She said the waitlist was very long. We decided not to wait. The second time we also didn't have a reservation and the hostess again seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. This time we did wait and were quoted 1.5 hours and it actually took about an hour. Not as bad as quoted but still busy! Third time we finally had a reservation and it still took us 20 mins to get seated as they did not have a table ready for us. To be honest the restaurant itself seems too small, they probably could be twice as big. The reason is the food at Genki Izakaya is in my opinion the best of the 3 Izakayas in the area. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.

Reservations - I've been with OpenTable and other restaurant online booking systems for decades but this is a first for me. They have two separate OpenTable listings (as noted in other reviews). I was clear in that i just wanted an after work chill happy hour. I booked for 4:30. After promptly showing up at the wren for my 4:30 appointment I was told, Naisho room doesn't open until 5 pm.... So why did you let me book for 4:30?!?! No explanation. No apology just "you're early..." 2. I promptly dropped $70 for drinks and an appetizer at the Wren bar to hold me and my guests over. It wasn't bad but that's not what I was hoping for... at 4:30. 3. The service to the speakeasy was great. The "gym stag" had our 4:30 and let us in at... 5:03 pm... 4. The waitress inside the speakeasy was super awkward and off putting. She really needs a class on etiquette. I ordered quite a bit right off the bat but my guests slow roll throughout the experience and she didn't seem too happy with that. Taking away our menus doesn't encourage us to order either. You charge $22 for one tea sandwhich but can't afford to print out more menus? The menus were also pretty dingy and I hand sanitized after using them. 5. Food. Was mid at best. Not at all authentic Japanese. I had the oyster shooter, temaki, Wagyu toast, Wagyu quesadilla, and mocktail. The oyster shooter was too sweet. And you could only taste the oyster and caviar at the end. Mostly as an aftertaste. There was a "too sweet" aspect to most of the food. The temaki was okay and I liked the crunchy bits but they went too far with the plastic wrap on the seaweed. The plastic wrap gave me Japanese 7-11 onigiri vibes. You do that if you aren't efficient enough to get the food out to guests at once and the seaweed will get soggy. I'm not sure if it was for a "fun factor" for people who are unfamiliar with grocery store onigiri in Asia but in a restaurant it should be done for you. The Wagyu toast was a HUGE disappointment. It was Sooooo sweet. I filet barely taste anything except the gross, sweet jam. And the toast was soggy and the texture of the bread felt prepared the day before and like refrigerator. It was not toasted at all. The star was the Wagyu quesadilla with beef tendon chips. It was the cheapest item on the menu and the most filling and delicious. 6. Drinks were very good. Expect about $20 a pop... $50 for the Japanese whiskey is highway robbery. Nothing really "rare." I have most bottles on the kitchen counter from the Virginia ABc or DC Costco. You can buy an entire bottle of the Japanese whiskey at Costco for the cost of one serving here. Overall, the Naisho room felt like all hype. For over $100 I was still pretty hungry. If the food tasted good I would have ordered more but I didn't think it was worth it. You get a nice view but it's the same from most of the capital one building. Same view from the brewery. Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere. Plenty of better happy hour spots for much much less considering if you stay for more than two hours you have to pay for parking (we did becuase, well, our reservation was at 4:30...)

I ended up biking and there's a bike stand really close by. My friend was craving fish and chips, so we ventured out this way. Because we came on a Thursday they had a deal going where if you ordered a pie, you could get a beer for free. Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. A bit small for the price point but with the beer included totally worth it also because their fries are so good. I could demolish over a pound of those fries. They were thick potato and maybe the extra added bonus of having to use a glass ketchup bottle added to it. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good. It was much appreciated. As for the food it was hit and miss. Our husbands had the short rib raviolis and-although it was flavorful, there was not enough meat inside the raviolis nor were there enough raviolis to justify the price tag. Since the sauce was extremely flavorful I forced my husband to share some of the skimpy sauce to dip my pizza crust on it. Luckily the guys had enough of the wonderful fried mozzarella and bread to not be grumpy. One tip that our whole party agreed on was that the sauce was better suited if it was paired with chunks of lobsters instead of of the stuffed short rib raviolis. I was happy with size of my thin crust pizza and it was way more than I could eat. However, I am not sure if I was actually ok with how the ingredients were divided jn the quarter a fourth of the pizza contained olives ,another fourth was the mushrooms, ,another fourth was the prosciutto and for the life of me I could not remember the fourth ingredient. I'm still ponedering whether I am a fan of this. My friend had the Marguerite pizza and she was extremely satisfied with it. As to the place itself, it's nothing fancy, it's just your typical pizza place in a strip mall. It's just ok. One thing I noticed about it is the dim lighting, but to be fair it's a normal complaint for most eating establishments. We all had to break out our IPhone flashlights to read the menu. I wish most eateries would have a dimmer switch by your table so that when you are ordering, there is sufficient lighting as you read the menu and when done can be adjusted to mood lighting.
