The Vienna Inn has real character, and most everything in here feels original. They're known for their hot dogs and cold beer, and the bar sits right in the middle of the restaurant, which is where all the action is. Fountain drinks, water, and tea are all self serve. I came for the hot dogs and the homemade chili. I got a couple of dogs with mustard, onion, and chili. The buns were nice and warm, and the chili had good flavor, on the thicker side rather than the wet chili you usually see. They use a brown deli mustard on the dogs too, which I wasn't expecting but added an extra bite. I also got the cheese fries. The fries were seasoned great, though personal preference, I could have used a bit more cheese. The walls are riddled with old advertisements, signs, trophies, and plaques. It's got a real dive bar feeling that you just can't recreate. When you're done, you walk up to the bar to pay. Worth a visit. read more

Thank you social media for tempting me with viral chili cheese dogs from Vienna Inn. This long time iconic dining inn has been here before I was born. Yes, it's my first time. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. First off, restrooms were clean, so not all social media is true. Remember this place has been around since the 60's. Food was pub food. Chili dogs made from turkey were different. The chili, appeared homemade, not my cup of "tea" or "chili" but they sell lots. My wife and I were looking for a dinner spot on our way home from Tysons and picked the Vienna Inn. For a Saturday at 6 pm, we were expecting to have to wait, but found an empty table in the corner. There is no hostess here, so find your own spot. Once seated, we were quickly given menus and silverware. The Inn is known for its chili dogs, so we both got a chili dog and a single side of fries to share. We each got a draft beer, too. While enjoying our beers, we chatted with our table neighbors. Some tables are long and seat eight, which can be shared like ours. There are a couple of TVs showing college games and lots of lively conversations going on. Our fries came out early, straight from the fryer. We enjoyed those while waiting for the main event. The chili dogs were excellent. It's impossible to keep all that chili on top of the dog, and so extra napkins are a must. Service was super friendly the entire evening. We enjoyed our dogs and will be back again. read more

Went here with a companion who wanted to go here for nostalgia's sake. Atmosphere is as advertised. Very casual with a dive bar vibe. Wait staff were super friendly, attentive and helpful. My companion got a cheesesteak and fries and I got what was supposed to be some sort of fried spicy chicken. His was good, mine not so much. It was burned, not remotely spicy and very dry. The place is known for its hotdogs, so shame on me for not going with the specialty. I am sure there are lots of good things here unfortunately my lunch was not one of them. A staple of Vienna, VA, you know this dive bar if you're a local resident or a sucker for cheap chili cheese dogs and beer. And that's what this place does. It knows what it is and hasn't changed since it's opening which gives it a special appeal. If you're looking for this spot to be a pristine shiny bright bar like Cheers, well, that's not it's style. It's a bit dark with the chess/checkered floor tiles with tables all around surrounding the bar area. But you do get a Cheers vibe with all the locals/regulars who stop in here for quick eats. As mentioned in previous reviews, all the servers are usually college students who make sure your beer is filled and you've had enough to eat. Eats start and end with their hot dogs, usually with chili and cheese if you're being proper. It's not the greatest chili cheese dog and sometimes you may wonder why you're ordering it. But the price and nostalgia always hit the spot and the taste reminds you why you're in here. Other eats I recommend are the wings (surprisingly good) and the fried zucchini (always eat your veggies!). Beer is either domestic or local brews that are Vienna Lager. Served in those classic cold mugs, the 80's-90's bar vibes hit once you pick it up and sip from it. Plus they are affordable compared to other places so that's a win in my book. As for other beverages, they have a serve-yourself soda station so you can get as many fills your stomach can handle. I love the Vienna Inn food, BUT I cannot go back until they do a "deep cleaning". I was there earlier this month and the floors were disgusting. It looked as though it hasn't been mopped in months. There were multiple spots where the floor tiling was popping up and some kind of insulation was above the surface. Restrooms need upgrading as it's really old and dirty. In all honesty, they need to do this upkeep before an inspector comes in and warns them. Basically, they need to be proactive to avoid a real disappointment. I realize it's a "dive", but there is a difference between a classic dive and being dirty / not healthy. All it would take is closing for a few weeks and do some replacement / upgrades. read more

The buffalo wings are a very large portion, we also got motz sticks, sweet potato fries, a chili cheese dog, regular dog and a soda. Our total was $36 pre tip. I have been going to the Vienna Inn for a number of years for everything from breakfast to cold brews to a place to watch a game. I decided it's time to post. If you're not paying attention in the car you'll miss it. Small location and small parking lot. I was thinking about a burger and a cold one so I'm sitting at the counter ordering up. The tap is right there, ice cold Yuengling and a cheeseburger with FF. Medium well for the cooking time. The game is on and I'm relaxing enjoying the atmosphere. The building is original to the open date in 1960. It's a Mom and Pop place that has a friendly people working there. My burger comes up with the french fries and and I dig in. The chili dogs are very good as well. Cold brew and chili dogs...solid! Definitely worth the visit before the town of Vienna wants to sieze the land and build a high rise or something. read more

By far, my favorite hot dogs of all time are here! I Always get two chili, cheese, mustard. The chili is very smooth with just the right amount of spice. The cheese is a sauce. It's magic and a good amount. The mustard is brown and it just rolls into the other flavors perfectly. The dogs come out in those little, white cardboard vessels. My wife and I had dinner at this cute little restaurant last night. We ordered nachos, sliders, and a chili dog. The nachos arrived looking like someone had poured a bowl of chili over a bag of tortilla chips. The chips were stale, the chili had clearly lived a full life before meeting us, and the whole thing tasted like it had been reheated with a gentle whisper instead of actual heat. The cheese, jalapeños, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream must have all carpooled together and decided not to show up. Either that or they were hiding in one mysterious lump we never discovered. The "fully loaded" chili-cheese dog was fine. We definitely should've ordered two. Or three. Or brought backup snacks from home. Then there were the sliders. Three brave little burgers, cooked so thoroughly they could probably survive re-entry from space. Each had a few dramatic drops of cheese on top, like the chef waved a slice of cheese over them and called it a day. Very bad experience, the Vienna Inn is not what it used to be... we had four main complaints: #1. The menu's do not have prices listed, I asked the waitress and she said that "since COVID they don't list prices because they fluctuate"? This is a very bad policy, prices should always be on the menu, no matter what. #2. They now have "self-serve" drinks, which is fine, but I had to ask three different waitresses for cups and never received them, then finally the 4th waitress told us that the cups were "up there by the drinks" (why did it take 4 waitresses to get this information)? #3. The waitresses are all very young, and very cute, but not very helpful and although they smile a lot and pretend to be nice, they do not understand the true meaning of "customer service". #4 The food and the look of the place have not changed, but the people and the policies are the problem, these four issues should be addressed by the management. read more

Although I spend a lot of time in Vienna I had never been to this establishment prior to this December 2019 visit after the Wolf Trap holiday sing-a-long. Full disclosure, hubby and I were visiting in the evening with a couple of women who are regular visitors, I am not sure how I would have felt if I had this first visit with another newbie and/or if it had not been dark. This is dive establishment, I doubt it has been deep cleaned in this century and I know it has not been updated. I was not brave enough to visit the restrooms although one of the folks I visited with says they are not bad. All that said, if you know you are going to a dive establishment and order accordingly it is a pretty good experience. Hubby and I got the nachos, chili cheese fries, a burger, and some beer and enjoyed what we had. We will likely visit again, partly for the novelty although I plan to stick with night visit, something's you should not see in the lIght. Vienna Inn has been a staple of the community since 1960! It is located right on 123 making it super easy to find. Parking is a bit tight but normally isn't a problem. The building is a bit dingy and rundown, but it has a cozy, neighborhood feel inside. Seating is in very close quarters so I suggest sitting on the side by the door. Why do people go here? They go for chili/cheese dogs and beer! There is a large menu with a variety of sandwiches and apps, but the star of the show is the chili/cheese dog with onions and a tall cold beer. Most people order two; they bring out everyone's order on one tray. They are not the most amazing dogs, but there something special and comforting about eating them. They remind me of all the ones I have eaten over the years starting at a young age. They have a great selection of beers on tap and bottled. A hidden gem on the menu is the hand cut chips. Great little throwback to the 70's. Tbh, the only thing that's probably changed here since the 70's is the addition of the "dining tent" in the back parking lot, which is where we chose to eat. I couldn't resist going inside to see what kind of establishment would erect such a tent (old school dive bar). I'm glad I did, because otherwise I wouldn't have seen the fish tacos on the special board. We started with a pitcher of Oktoberfest, buffalo shrimp and boneless wings. Pretty typical pub fare. Two members of our party had the open-faced hot turkey sandwich, and loved it! I had the "special" fish tacos, which were super tasty. Light battered fish in corn tortillas, with guacamole and pico de gallo. Great light lunch! After dining, we went back inside and told them what we'd consumed and paid. All on the honor system! We have loved this place for 50 years, mostly ordering the same thing! We moved away and were visiting and decided to go for lunch. We love their breakfast but missed the cutoff time. We ordered the same lunch items as always...two chili dogs and a grilled cheese. Hot dogs came on a paper liner, sitting on a tray x what?!?!. Since when aren't they served on a plate? Chili and onions go all over and who wants to pick that up from the table? Grilled cheese was good, but strange new (for us) potato chips were warm and different - guess I should have liked them, but was expecting the usual. Never had ordered cole slaw before but felt like it! It was AWFUL.... REEKED OF ONION. Since when does cole slaw have onion in it? Lastly, we ordered and waited and waited and waited - only a few people in there so didn't make sense. Orders always come out so fast.... usually. Then the hot dogs came out and we were told the other items would be out shortly ( that was not the case). The chili looked insipid - very bland looking and different than remembered and my husband who has consumed hundreds of them over the years said it was really different. 11/16/21 Update: After leaving Vienna Inn, My stomach started to act up a bit. By the time we started to head home, the need to use the bathroom was urgent. A release of gas would cause more trouble for me. I don't want to say it was the shrimp I ate, but it was the last thing I ate and it happened very fast. I am feeling some of the effects even now at 7:07am. 11/15/21 We finally got a chance to eat here. I missed the chance to order the hot cakes with sasuage and bacon. I had to go with the backup plan of fried shrimp and zucchini sticks. The place wasn't very crowded when we came here and our orders arrived quickly. Our server seemed to be co.ing down with the flu and I was glad to see she went home to get better. The owner seem to be in good spirits. Christina seems know many of the guests by first name basis. I learned that breakfast ends at 11am, but if you call ahead to order, Christina will make sure the order will be ready for pick up. Thank you Christina for a great time here.
