I've been here a few times and recently came back with a friend and finally remembered to give this review! I enjoy Spacebar. It's a great, chill and lowkey vibe if you're not looking for a loud and crowded bar. Their food selection is so good with a wide range of grilled cheeses as well! They have a rotating menu of drinks that they do at the bar and the service is great. The bartenders are personable and kind and always open to giving you a sample before you decide on a drink. Definitely worth a visit! There is a small lot in the front, I've never struggled to get parking before but would be cautious if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night! read more

It definitely leans dive bar--but in the best way--with a menu that offers red meat, pork, turkey, and vegan options... but no chicken, which is a rare twist. Turkey & tots - I went with the turkey sandwich, which was served in a pulled pork style--shredded and flavorful. It came with standard tater tots on the side. The meal hit the spot: I was hungry but not starving, and it was filling and satisfying without being too heavy. Packed - The space itself is fairly small, but always busy. Spacebar is a slightly nerdy dive bar and I love it. Grilled cheese any way you like it, loaded tater tots and beer....what more could you want? The space is a little small, but they maximize seating at both tables and the bar. It is a seat yourself kind of place. My husband and I grabbed the last available booth and found food and beverage menus already placed at the table. We ordered a couple beers and loaded tater tots with mojo spiced pulled pork. I enjoyed the tropical sour ale called Bel Air, by Brooklyn. My husband enjoyed the Alesmith Speedway imperial coffee stout. I'm not usually all about imperial stouts, but that one was tasty. We also ordered a #2 regular grilled cheese with pulled bbq and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Both were delicous. The vibe is very casual and the staff were friendly. This place is unique, one of a kind and cozy vibes. Plenty of beer varieties on tap and canned from hoppy, sours, cider, malty and lighter options. I checked out the menu and order a hard cider and the Cuban grilled sandwich. I knew things were going great when the Chef said...this is my favorite to make! Hot damn!! The sandwich was so yummy. I wanted to eat it all, but I decided to take half home...I'll eat the other half for lunch, lol. The menu is pure comfort food. Staff was super welcoming and friendly. What took it to the next level, the Chef took a lot of pride in making the meal. That was so cool. This is why people come back to places!!! Spacebar has been on my radar for ages and I'm so glad I went. Very chill and unassuming atmosphere, big selection of beers on tap, and friendly staff. But best of all is the food, mostly indulgent sandwiches and piles of tots. And all of it can be made vegetarian or vegan! What a cool place in Falls Church. I went here after Black Friday shopping as a way to decompress from the stressful shopping. The minute you walk in, you're greeted with the sound of emo rock, at least what I've heard of when I walked in. There was Spaceballs playing on the TV; I'm sure it adds to the nostalgia factor. I had the grilled cheese #2 that consisted of Harvati and Gouda cheese along with Tater Tots. I really like that you can see the cooks preparing your food as you admire the ambience. I don't remember the beer I drank but it was pretty good, though I don't think I remember the taste. Both the grilled cheese and the tots were so good, I wish I ordered more. Great value for good food and many beers to try out. This place gets packed easily and I'd even say that parking here is limited. Keep that in mind if you do decide to pay a visit. read more

Even with the late arrival, the staff was attentive and friendly from the moment we entered to greeting us goodbye at the end of our meal. We ordered a cheesesteak sandwich and jalapeño tater tots (I believe they were called Totchos # 2) and OMG, I can't say enough about how tasty both of those were. They served it freshly made and hot. Beers are very good! They have great selection with periodic rotations. The vibe is sort of like those old good college pub days. Falls Church (and NoVa in general) needs more dive bars. Spacebar and its sister bar in Arlington, Galaxy Hut, fill that niche. Spacebar is a small space that could probably stand to be three times bigger. A rotating list of drafts and cans keeps things fresh with fun new selections. Neither bar serves liquor, would be fun to add some cocktails but I'm sure there's some strange Virginia bylaw preventing it. The breadth of the selection of beers, wines, and ciders more than makes up for this, though. Food menu consists mainly of grilled cheeses and tots. Unlike Galaxy Hut, Spacebar is not vegan, but they still provide plenty of vegan and veggie options. The plant-based meatball sandwich at Galaxy Hut is still one my favorite, but the grilled cheese I had here was very tasty. Decor is fun and lightly space themed. TVs behind the bar play old DVDs - my wife and I once watched all of Men in Black while sitting at the bar by reading the subtitles. My only complaints: tough parking sitch, and for some reason, both Spacebar and Galaxy Hut are always a bit toasty inside. Crank up the AC and bribe some of the random businesses next door to share parking and I'd be here every week. read more

We were looking for a place to get a quick bite and enjoy some beers with a friend that was in town. After hearing about Spacebar we decided to give it a go. This place has a casual and fun vibe with a great staff to match. We ordered quite a few beers and my personal favorite was the Orange Cream Wit. We ordered the tatchos as a starter and loved how customizable they were. You can put just about anything on top of them. I also ordered the Reuben and my husband ordered the steak & cheese. Both of us agreed they were the best sammies we have had in a while! Towards the end of our dinner at Spacebar the incredibly kind cook asked if we had ordered two sandwiches he was holding. We told him no and there had apparently been a mistake in the kitchen. Without hesitation he put them in boxes for us to take home. We got to have Spacebar again for lunch the next day! I've always drove by this place hoping to go but it's been always been so busy (pre-pandemic). I've heard great things about their food and fortunately it's pretty easy to get takeout. We ordered the choripapa melt, a vegan chicken bbq sandwich, and brunchos with beyond sausage. Pickup and parking were super easy (small lot so it's hard to find a spot if it's busy). All I had to do was call the number and a friendly dude got my order right on time. This was a lot of food, it felt like a baby was in the bag. The brunchos were a must have. Their tots are perfectly golden and crispy (even on the next day from the fridge). The crispy cheese, avocado, sausage, and fried egg really just made it crazy. I would get this every time I come back (I'm absolutely coming back). The choripapa was hefty and super buttery. The bread was perfectly buttered and toasted and was loaded with chorizo and avocado. The recommendation to add the avocado and pickled red onions really gave it a nice texture and tang. I wish I didn't add the extra tots, not that I didn't like them but there was so much next to the brunchos as well. If I'm looking to just put myself in a food coma, I'm coming straight here. Helps that there are a bunch of veggie/vegan options. Also I'm trying to come back when everything is back to normal, I can see the food really helping sober people up. read more

I had to type my order down on my phone to shove in someone's face because I physically could not raise my voice above a volume where my server could hear me. I was looking for a quick place to treat a friend to a late snack as gratitude for driving me around that day. Spacebar had been on my radar because of the cool name, and the fact that Yelp had cool pictures of the place. The food is wonderful! my friend and I were so pleasantly surprised by how good the meatloaf sandwich was. (Do you SEE how much CHEESE we pulled?!) Plus, the cheesy tots were CRUNCHY and tasted fun with ketchup. we managed to get through half of them in that one sitting, but I eventually took the next four days to really run them through my air fryer. Relaxed welcoming vibe. Kind of like your local dive bar minus the smell of beer soaked floors. The scent of this place when you walked in is more like a greasy spoon diner with a chill but warm vibe. There's 26 beers on tap and they are perfectly chilled and bubbly. We tried 6 different beers and ended up choosing 2 to drink. The loaded tots were loaded, crispy and delicious. The server made great suggestions for us to try. My only disappointment was their breads. The sourdough was not sourdough at all. With all of the great ingredient choices and exceptional selection of plant based protein options I guess you can't have everything. The bread was highly disappointing. We had a rendition of a Cuban with plant based protein and plant based bacon was was sensational! May be one of my top 5 favorite sandwich combos now. This place is clean, friendly and offers many options to wet your whistle and satisfy your need for yummy noms. They had lots of booths and bar seating. Not sure how easily it would accommodate a large group sitting together. They had a large number of seats. Just may not be very easy to seat a group of 10 together. Loved the service, hot and delicious food over all. Oh. And the tomato soup reminded me of spaghetti sauce and not tomato soup. Many pluses to Space Bar. Menu for sandwiches and beer is extensive. You order at the bar and food comes out pretty quickly! Tachos with Bacon and Jalapeños: Per bartenders recommendation, we asked for bacon and jalapeños on top of our tachos. The portion size was huge! Cheese was more of shredded cheese, but there was a lot of it. This was pretty good the day of, but my stomach wasn't feeling good the morning after. #21 - Turkey, pesto, sundries tomatoes, cheese: THIS WAS SO GOOD! The sun dried tomatoes added great flavor. There was also just enough pesto and cheese. Overall, Spacebar is a great place for late night eats or a cheesy dinner. Amazing beer selection with beers from all over VA. Love this place, but the quality has definitely gone down in the last 7 years or so when we were regulars. My husband & I went for the first time in a while the other night and left a tad disappointed. The beers are still amazing (though they were out of the one I wanted), but the food? Meh. Apparently, they no longer offer eggs for the grilled cheese so I couldn't get my usual order. We ordered the totchos...which just ended up being an $8 basket of tots with hardened cheese on them (seriously, it was so hard it stuck to the paper underneath the tots and would not come off no matter how hard you tried).
