We finally got into Jammin' Java for a recent concert by Vicki Peterson and John Cowsill; we see a lot of live music but hadn't had occasion to visit before. What a FANTASTIC intimate music venue! I suspect there are no bad seats - our seats were great. The sound reinforcement was excellent - well balanced and at a perfect volume. Menu is simple but the food is good, as are the drinks. Service is quite friendly and *quick* - and the idea of small standee cards to indicate you need a server's attention is brilliant in a listening venue, since servers don't need to constantly check on you and ask how you're doing. Sadly, JJ doesn't seem to get very many musical artists in that are the sort we seek out - but when they do get any, we'll definitely be back. read more

I was recently here for the second time, and it is a great, intimate venue with good service, but the seating and logistics leave something to be desired. The size of the space is good for some smaller touring performers, and the sound quality has been excellent both times that I have been here. Service was pretty quick and the servers have been friendly. Further, the food that I have tried has been good and fresh, and they have a decent drink selection. While my service was quick, I arrived pretty early so there were only a couple others there at first. They seemingly only had one server for everyone, which is wild and things were more delayed once it got busier. Additionally, the tables are so close together it would be inaccessible if all seats were filled. The row on the other side of my table only had one person, yet it was still difficult for that person to get out because the other table whose backs were facing them had most spots filled. It was hard and disruptive for people to get out of their seats to go to the restroom and such because seats were super close together. Had both sides of the tables been filled, people would have either been stuck where they were or everyone else would have had to get up to let them out. The way that the tables are placed also makes it hard for some seats to see the performer(s) without fully turning their chair (which, given the space issues, wouldnt work for everyone to do). Anyway, I do like this venue, but I hope they reconsider the setup. While this may mean a reduction in premium price seating, it would be a much better experience for attendees. read more

Bought tickets early in 2025 for a June show. Show was postponed, according to Jammin' Java, but there has been no follow-up. I have tried emailing with no success. Like others have mentioned, phones are shut down. Pissed that they have taken this route. I have enjoyed many shows there over the years, but am done with them now. read more

How the F$&@ did I land in the middle of a bad episode of Fame? The two stars are for the very friendly servers and the pizza, which came quickly. The pizza was nicely cooked and served hot. The cocktails and beer had variety, strength, and flavor. After that it was downhill. Rapidly. A STEEP DROP. We paid for seats facing the misshapen hind quarters of people who paid less, if at all. A gaggle of ill-mannered youths, possibly from the attached school, took the center and never moved. The band was amateurish and the sound was muddy. The lead singer was either flat or in search of a working microphone the whole time. I felt sorry for them and the applause was minimal. The second band was better but the event still felt like the school band in the school gym. That was okay when I had braces and knee socks, but not now. Don't bother with this amateurish place. Go to a better-managed venue. Catch the students after they grow up. This was 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back. The venue needs to put all seats on a theater-style rake. SMH. read more

An intimate place, fantastic when seeing our favorite band because of how small it was we really got an up-close experience with great views & nice lighting. Standing room only in the main area, with a few seating options in the very back of the venue, close to the entrance- easy to navigate- clean bathrooms with fun sticker graffiti to peruse There was a good amount of fees when purchasing the tickets, but for the closeness of the bands, low cost of drinks, and friendly service- very worth the price I would say my only woe was the sound system; the closeness was a lot on the ears, because the audio system is very very very loud- I am usually not an earplug person, but I definitely wish I had them; it also made some songs muddled, since we knew the songs this didn't deter from the experience, but did make it harder to understand the unknown openers- read more

Interesting place in a strip mall. Front of venue is the bar area. In the back is the stage and seating - some tables for food and wine and also just chairs for watching the show, but no place to put a glass down. The service is pretty good. The salad was okay but very heavy on dressing. The pizzas were very good. The pretzel was also good. The prices were reasonable. Overall, a good experience. I have a gluten sensitivity. I read on the menu they had a gluten free option, but when I came to yelp I couldn't find any reviews about it. So, I tried it anyway and hoped for the best. AMBIANCE Jammin' Java is a cozy place for concerts. Because of how small it is, it provides quite an intimate experience for attendees and a great view of the stage and performers. The lighting provides nice vibes and matches the music. Unless you're sitting by the bar or in the VIP area, expect to be standing before the stage for the duration of the concert. SOUND SYSTEM If you're standing up front, I would bring earplugs, so that you can adjust the volume of what you're hearing to some extent. ***The audio is VERY, VERY LOUD.*** Post the 1-hour concert, I couldn't hear clearly again until the next morning. I'd wager you'd have a better listening experience hanging out in the back, though that would take away from the overall experience. SERVICE There's a good amount of fees involved when purchasing tickets, but the total cost is offset by how cheap the tickets generally are themselves. I've been requesting Yelp to introduce a zero star option and this place is clearly an example of where it needs to be used. Now this is a con job. Awful, awful, awful music arena and I'm being polite. I think the artists that perform here are scraping the bottom of the barrel and are trying to make ends meet and this place tries to force them into retirement!? Tickets should be made free and beers bought (which are meh) should be shared with the bands who try and entertain with poor sound quality and a stinky small area that smells like a sewer. That cave man bowl has rocked my freakin world... blended acai, banana and cashew milk topped with fresh banana, house-made granola, dates, and coconut. YUUUMMMMM. Add a healthy dash of agave syrup and you are gonna be in heaven. This combination is legit fuckin'' delicious and the house-made granola is fresh and crunchy and YUM. I wanna come have me one of these babies every freakin day! It's too bad I live in VA Beach. Sad face. They had a bunch of other yummy stuff on the menu and had live music going on as well - so it's like dinner/lunch whatever and a show! Yasssss. Saw Arizona Zervas here. The concert was so much fun, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff was polite.

This is a great place to attend a concert. My daughgter is a singer/song writer and has performed here three times with a lineup of other performers. The food is excellent along with the service. Every seat feels like front row as the elevated stage allows the sound to travel well. Easy to get to and the crowds seem like true music lovers, which is nice when the atmosphere is vibing. Jammin' Java is proof that you don't have to know how to parallel park in order to see a great live music show (I can say this, I used to intern at the 9:30 Club and parking was my biggest issue even though I had access to the employee lot). I've seen Ballyhoo here about a bazillion times thanks to my reggae-rock loving friends and I've always been impressed with the intimate atmosphere, booming acoustics, and friendly bartenders slangin' drinks at small town prices. It's not just Bud Light either, they even have Red Stripe which is perfect for jamming out to our favorite island inspired tunes. Yeah it's not the hippest, grittiest place in town but it's in Vienna so what do you expect? For local and national performing acts, this spot can't be beat. The best part is it's just down the road from Amphora's which is perfect for late night fried zucchini sticks after you've spent your entire night rockin' out in the burbs. read more

We came here for the Anna and Elizabeth show. I'm not sure how the venue was because I was so captivated by the performance! I'll give them 5+ stars just for hosting such amazing talent. Actually though, we really liked the venue. The batista was very friendly and drinks were really affordable. I kinda would like to give them 1 star. On the fact that if word gets out of how awesome this place ACTUALLY IS, it may be harder to come and hear awesome music. I was first brought here by a friend like 2 years ago and was impressed with all the bands they have here. (There are tour posters plastered on the walls of the bathroom and outside) It's going to be bands most people have never heard of.... or at least bands you can add to your list of "Best Bands You Never Knew You Loved" and post their youtube videos on your facebook to impress your friends. My first concert here on Sunday evening to see GB Parker opening for the Jill Andrews band. What a nice venue with excellent acoustics. There is a coffee shop and a bar area. You can set at a table and order food and beverage and watch a show. If you want to just sit in chairs and watch you have that option as well. A smaller intimate venue that is suitable for accostic solo acts or plugged in bands as well. I had see Jill Andrews the evening before open for the Avett Brothers and she just knocked me out. When I learend she was palying here, I just had to be here and I was so glad I was. Just a great all round experience. read more

Love jammin Java! During this COVID pandemic, Jammin' Java really stepped open and I am loving their free weekend outdoor concerts. I usually come here for South block but that recently moved a few doors down and has been replaced with Union Pie. Their pizza is really good! I personally like their fries and the special spicy sauce! I would come back just for that. I came here to see Courtney King play one weekend and the place was really nice. Everyone was really conscientious of being more than 6 feet away from each other and the outdoor patio seating were nicely spaced apart. The servers were all really friendly and one even offered a water bowl to my friend's dog. I will definitely be back. read more

A great music venue in the middle of a shopping complex -- who knew! I drove down from Baltimore for a small show on a weeknight. Once I made it through typical rush hour traffic and arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to have no trouble with parking whatsoever, though the lot is not huge. I did see some reviews mention parking being an issue, so imagine the situation is different for bigger/weekend shows. I didn't try any food but the bar had a good drink selection with decent prices especially considering it's a venue. Staff, especially bartenders, were really friendly too. I'd been looking for a real live music venue in Northern Virginia for quite a while. I had so much fun in LA when I went to a show in Echo Park a few years ago, and I was hoping to eventually find something like that in this area. The DC area doesn't seem to have much of a local music scene, but Jammin' Java looks like its doing its best to cultivate one. I saw that there were cover bands for Nirvana (Lithium), Foo Fighters (Deja Fu), Queens of the Stone Age (A Song for the Deaf) playing and it looked like the type of show I had been looking for in the area, so I went and it was a great show. Jammin' Java has the typical set up for this type of venue. Your ID is checked at the door and your hand is stamped after your ticket is checked. There is a bar inside and a large open area for the audience, with the stage across from the entrance. There were probably 60 or 70 people there for the show and there was plenty of room for everyone. There is also a private seating area with several tables, the rest of the audience area is standing only. It's not a huge place, but it seemed to fit everyone who attended. The sound system was great. My ears are still ringing a little two days later, if that says anything about how loud it was. Even at that volume level everything sounded clear. The bar doesn't have much of a draft beer selection, especially since craft beer is something NOVA is known for, but the beer they had tasted fine. They do have a larger selection of liquor and bottled beer. The show was a ton of fun. I don't know much about Queens of the Stone Age, so I can't comment much on their cover, other than I think the band did fine as an opening act. Deja Fu, though, was very entertaining and they had their own twist on the well-known Foo Fighters songs. During their show, I wondered if they might show up the real Foo Fighters if they played side by side. Lithium got very into the music and watching them, I could see how that style of music was so popular back when it first came out. Jammin' Java has a lot of different genre artists who play there. It looks like they have comedy acts, too. Looking at their calendar, I can see other artists I'd like to check out, so they'll probably be seeing me there again. read more

I went to Jammin' Java for the 1st time on 3/18/16 to see the Big O Dukes live show. (I am a little late in writing a review but I clearly remember my experience so better late than never.) This review is of the venue and not the show (which was fantastic and I can't wait until I get a chance to go again). Jammin' Java is a relatively small space in the world of nightclubs and/or performance spaces. It has a very small seating (table) space which you can pay for in an "upgraded" ticket price. My husband I chose the upgraded seating which came with waitress. I was impressed with Jammin' Java's drink and food menu. It was relatively large for such a small nightclub. I ordered some appetizers which were good (and the prices were very fair considering you're part of a captive audience). Our waitress was very knowledgeable about Jammin Java's drink menu. She helped me pick a beer I loved. The only reason I cannot give Jammin Java a higher rating is that if it hadn't been for getting a place to sit I don't think I would have enjoyed my experience as much. It may have something to do with me getting older and having less tolerance for rubbing up against random strangers at a club or the fact that ultimately this nightclub (performance space) is located in a strip mall. In other words, I don't get the same "thrill" of the city making up for the random strangers part. In a nutshell, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Jammin Java's and paying the upcharge to get a seat. read more

I love love love this place! It's the best venue for seeing all kids of bands in a cozy atmosphere. You can stand right up front, close enough to see the musicians sweat and spit on the microphone, if you so desire... Just saw Authority Zero play there last week for about $15. Purchased a couple pumpkin ales (with brown sugar around the rim), had a pretzel with mustard, and had a grand old time ska dancing the night away! So not only can you come to JJ to listen to great local and national artists at affordable prices, you can also come here for one of the best cups of coffee in NoVA! read more

Only problem, a lot of the artists I've never heard of because they're up and coming so it takes a little bit of research to figure out what's what. We looked forward to this evening's Christmas concert tonight with Todd Wright, especially after attending over 20 years of the event, including last year when there was a weak attendance. Regretfully, while we thought what we saw was excellent overall--maybe the best ever, for what we saw, we had an issue with the row behind us who were beyond rude. While we originally were standing room, seeing we came just before the concert started, when we saw seats becoming empty, and waited an half a hour before going to them, to our regret, we went for them. The group of females behind us probably were drunk, but whatever, they were beyond rude. I looked back at them several times to imply they weren't respecting the wonderful performerers, but to no avail. We got up about an hour later, I had an an empty cup (only one bought), to point out why we were moving, I did symbollically lift it. They watched us and two followed us accusing me of throwing a drink, mind you, it was empty. Then they went to complain. Problem was it was a young man who listened to them complain, then came to us--we had, as reguested, moved to the front of the store with them . Whie I said it was an empty cup, he obviously wasn't smart enough to undersatnd they were, yes. lying. We left and will never again support the Brindley brothers--neither in Vienna and at the Wharf, like we've done in the past. Sad to say, this is my husband's favorite event and he missed the end. Too, we gave an extra ticket we had seeing our son's plane was cancelled a few hours earlier. We were happy to share to someone who was a walk- in the experience-- just an hour and half earlier. We didn't accept payment seeing we wanted her and her companion to have had a great experience. Beyond upset. read more
