Wow! Saw the great reviews for this place on Yelp and I'm so grateful my Yelp family pointed me towards the right direction. Ordered tickets online through their website, steps were simple and straightforward. You don't choose your seats when purchasing your tickets. Tickets were about $40/person. Get tickets early on, prices get higher the closer you get to the time of the performance. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and told the kind lady our names. You don't have to bring a printed ticket. Once your ticket is purchased, you just state your name and she looks it up on the list. Seating starts 30 mins before the performance begins, but people start lining up before that. The seats get filled up quick, so you may want to come earlier than later. You choose your own seat once in the theatre. The waiting area isn't all that big but they really utilize the space well. There are two restrooms, both are clean. They also sell snacks and drinks, which can be taken into the theatre and enjoyed throughout the show. The theatre isn't all that big but boy do they work that stage! Every inch of that space is used and very well. There isn't one bad seat in the house, since it's a smaller theatre but seats are tight. You will become best friends with the person beside you. We came to watch City of Angels and was blown away by all the talent. Performers, costume, make up, lighting design, sound, stage set up were all on point. I can't believe it took me so long to come here. I will definitely be back!

I scored free tickets to the first-ever preview (their premier is scheduled for this Saturday) of Alfred Hitchcock's 'The 39 Steps' play. Based on the novel by John Buchan, the play was a combination of 'high speed chases, murder, mistaken identities, and romance.' I am a huge fanatic of espionage and all of that spy stuff, so this was a real treat. The performances of the 4 actors (Nick Rose, Evan Crump, James Finley, and Emily Levey) were AMAZING, and I laughed my heart out! The theater itself is very nice and clean, cute and very artsy, and a great alternative to theaters existing in the NoVA area - the cute little rolling concession stand is available after the performance so you can munch on the snacks (like the Cheddar Popcorn) on your way out so the theater is kept clean (a great idea, I thought!). I am definitely interested in watching more shows at this place. +small plays/performances +rolling concession stand after the performance +plenty of parking in the lot

This theatre put on one of the highest quality non-professional shows I've ever seen. I'm from Utah, which is the Mecca of musical theatre, and Oregon, which certainly loves the performing arts, and I wasn't disappointed by NextStop at all. My husband and I saw "Urinetown" (a personal favorite) - we arrived about an hour early, which was entirely unnecessary (doors open 30 mins in advance), but it allowed us to get some snacks from concessions beforehand (your standard soda, cookies, and candy, plus plenty of libations). Because it's a black box theatre space with stadium seating, there aren't any bad seats in the house. The quality of talent, costumes, and set was remarkably high. My only complaint is that the sound wasn't optimum throughout. The actress portraying Pennywise had a very bright belt, and when she was belting her highest notes, the mic was turned up way too high, making it hard on the ears. The actor portraying Joseph "Old Man" Strong had mic issues through the entire show - there were several points at which he was unintelligible. Aside from that, however, everything was top notch. I'll absolutely return to see shows here!

High quality performances in an intimate venue at reasonable prices! When it averages nearly a hundred bucks a ticket downtown for most anything good, I love that I don't have to go bankrupt to see an interesting show in the burbs. My daughter loves the kid-friendly fare they put on once in a while as well.

Yes Virginia, there is professional theater in Herndon. Its set back from the street a ways in a semi-industrial park. Now, I've been to small theaters, I've worked in small theaters, but none w/ legit grandstand seating (and they were comfy). I spent most of the preshow marveling at the actual stage space. It was prefect for the show we saw, The 39 Steps. Everything was exposed: the prop storage, the load bearing pole stage right, the back stage entrance, and even, what I can only assume was an old sound booth. The show was fabulous, and I've seen it on Broadway as well as the tour. You could really tell that the actors and director took extra steps to squeeze as much funny out as they could, and not in an overdone way. The space was used to perfection, bare as it was. Worth the drive is all I have to say. Thanks so much for the tickets Gretchen!

Catch Me if You Can - fun & fascinating stage; great band!

What a great time we had tonight! We went to opening night of Catch Me if You Can - a musical version of a very good movie & based on a true story. Set in the 1960s - the costumes were fun (especially the female ones - reminded me of my mini skirted days!) The dance & music group numbers were very well done; the singing by all was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyable time. The set was interesting; the lighting changes added to the scenes. The theatre is relatively small but despite the horrendous heat of these last few days - the interior was comfortable for this fussy patron. Tonight was Sold Out! So the comfortable temperature was even more welcome. I wish they'd had a 'signature drink' for this play as they did for a couple of earlier plays. For me - it adds to the fun atmosphere. I like the changes they've made to the lobby & the higher end advertising hand-outs that list upcoming events. Unlike an earlier year, the in-take process was fast & painless. There's still some awkwardness at the drink station - I think it may be a function of tight spaces & process flow. My husband & I are fans of musicals, comedies, & mysteries. Next Stop has a wide range of repertoires including dramas. A great way to spend a night & close to quite a few restaurants that stay open in this industrial park cornered between Spring St & Herndon Parkway near quite a few hotels.

I cannot say enough good things about this performance!! We absolutely enjoyed it. None of us had ever been to a Murder Mystery before so we were ready for something new! The 2 Cast members were amazing! They kept us entertained and laughing the entire time! At the intermission, they have coffee/tea and desert at the same time. We appreciated this because you're always too full to eat desert with dinner but this gave everyone plenty of time to be ready for the delightful carrot cake they provided. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! After that, I have to say things went off the rails a bit. For a start, this is the first "theatre" that had no stage. Not a small stage, no stage at all. We found ourselves, a group of 30-40 people crammed into a large room on the second floor with barely any room in July with AC so weak it was never below 76F. Then the show began. I was expecting a curtain to rise and a stage to appear, but sadly all the story and acting was done between the tables. I will say the acting ranged from surprisingly good to the obviously inispired acting of the audience members who decided to join in. The story was comedic and easy to follow, with references to Sherlock Holmes and even Indiana Jones. Sadly the heat and the terrible location without a stage made it hard to enjoy when the cast is constantly moving around. If they get a proper venue, I am sure they do wonderful things, but this was more like a test run. That I paid for.

While not quite as glamorous as the Hollywood Bowl, we appreciate that this venue exists. We laugh that there is a mostly outdoor concert venue when DC summers are notoriously humid and filled with heavy-hitting thunderstorms. There was one concert where there was a shelter-in-place order, prior to the concert. We decided to risk it and luckily the storm passed. I will say, the DC crowd is much hardier than LA. If there was even a rain drop in the forecast, nobody would show up in SoCal. But in DC, people will ride the storm. On our previous visit, it was a full-on downpour nobody abandoned their spots. I was impressed and at the same time, disappointed since I wanted a better spot in the field! There are covered seats, which is probably the safer bet. But we love the lawn seating for its laid back vibe and picnic atmosphere. Even with the rain, we'll be back!

With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. We actually had very good seats. We paid a little extra for the seating but it was so worth it. We were seated in Row A seat 13 & 14. The event lasted 2 hour's with a thirty minute break. This show was very humorous and quirky. It was a very different kind of circus than what I'm use to. I have been to Barnum Bailey Circus and Universal Soul circus. I loved the costumes and everything. We purchased the typical hotdogs and I purchased an icee. They did have a list of adult beverages. My husband said his beer was refreshing. We even stopped by the gift shop on our way out and made two tee-shirt purchases. They have a variety of gifts from binoculars to bags to you name it they had it. They offered parking across the street but we opted for the parking around the corner which was only about $12.00 for 3 1/2 hour's. Again this was a very enjoyable show with a variety of entertainment. We definitely plan on attending again next year. Oh btw restrooms are all outside with plenty available to use before and after the event. Really cute set up and found them to be clean with plenty of soap available. Also spotted a beer garden tent.
