Union stage us a smaller version of the 9:30 club. There's no seating except for a few tables in the back of the room. It didn't look like it had much elevation, so if it's a packed show, you may likely need to stand as well. There are food and drink specials typically before showtime. The service was prompt. The margaritas are tasty, they have an extensive beer menu including IPOs and the pizza has a nice crisp thin crust (average flavor). I do appreciate the option to buy a half pizza. Union stage successfully serves it's purpose.

Great venue it was pretty hidden which may be it single flaw. The drinks were good enough regular bartenders nothing special. It was a great venue for a standing room only concert

By far my favorite D.C venue. Yummy pizza, drinks priced averagely for D.C. and there's not a bad spot in the venue to see any shows! It never seems to get too crowded or overwhelming. The bartenders are always super nice as well.

    What a great show!

Just saw The Pineapple Thief here a few days ago. The show was excellent. This is my second concert here at this venue. I saw Soen here earlier in 2024. The venue has street level access but the stage is underground. It's easily accessible though. The staff is very accommodating. Drinks and food are available at the bar. Would recommend you visit.

I love the close vibes of union stage, this is the second time I've been to the venue and it's been great both times. The staff and the service if great and so were the wings I had! Hoping for more concerts here in the future

The pepperoni pizza is absolutely delicious and the drinks are great as well! I've attended two concerts (Taylor Acorn + Loveless & Cherie Amour, Honey Revenge + Arrows in Action) here and the bartenders both times were fantastically friendly. The staircase going to the basement/show area is covered in band stickers and it's amazing to see how many bands have been at such a cozy location. Restrooms are also very neat and clean.

12 dollar happy hour gets you a half pizza and draft beer. Pizza itself is pretty decent, nothing special- the crust tends to run a bit dry. The cheese is pretty solid though. Beer selection for drafts was great- they have some great dark beers that I tried. There is a 20% gratuity included regardless of party size so my friend accidentally tipped 50%, just something to keep in mind.

I am 5 foot 11 inches and could barely see Heilu Mergia when he sat down to play

This is a pretty awful venue in terms of actually seeing and enjoying a concert. The floor is not on an incline and the stage is barely raised so unless you're near the front, your view will be obstructed. And forget about buying a seat as there's no way your view will be clear if you are sitting in the back behind everyone else. The whole venue is a basement with a bar. The whole vibe feels pretty poorly thought out and the whole layout of the place feels like a fire trap; God forbid there was an emergency and 400+ people all tried to climb the stone steps at once. I didn't enjoy anything about the place. A guy on crutches came in and the staff weren't even sure if the elevator was working.

Can you buy a ticket at the door? The event says sale ended

Yes, unless the show is sold out.

Is the pizza shop open during the listed hours or just when there's a concert?

Union Stage serves pizza any day we are open starting at 5pm or Union Pie is open at 11:30am every day!

Is the tap room 21+? We have tix for an all ages show and want to go early.

    It is all ages!

Can I buy tickets for shows ahead of time at the box office? If so, what are the hours?

yes! any day after 5 pm. thanks.

If you have multiple premiere plus tickets, are you guaranteed a seat together as a group or just guaranteed a seat? Thanks!

First come, first serve. Seats aren't assigned. Premier plus just means you can sit at the bar tables/chairs in the back. I'd recommend showing up early, it's hard to find seats at all let alone together if you merely show up on time.

Do we need to print tickets out or can we just show them the barcode?

If you have electronic tickets (through an app or email) they can just scan those. No need to print.

What's the food situation at Union Stage? Do you have anything for vegetarians?

we have a very simple menu - pizza and salads, but there are plenty of vegetarian options between the two!

I don't know if I'm selecting well or if it's maybe just low key the ultimate style of pizza but this is yet another fantastic example. It's just a small, quick takeout place for the most part, though there is some seating outside when the weather is appropriate. As such, service is generally to the point which is fine by me.

Super Unique Setup With Cool Lights That Make It Easy To Spot. It's Different From Your Typical Pizza Place, Which I Actually Liked. This Is Detroit-Style Pizza, So Don't Expect New York Style. It's Thick, With A Generous Amount Of Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce. Honestly, It Almost Felt Like A Cheesy Bread Situation But In A Good Way. The Crust Was Buttery With A Slight Crisp On The Outside & Soft Inside, Which Was The Perfect Balance. The Ingredients Tasted Fresh, & It Was Very Filling. The Size I Got Came With 4 Slices, & Honestly, 2 Slices Was More Than Enough. I'd Definitely Come Back & Bring My Son This Feels Like A Spot He'd Love, Especially If He's Into Breadsticks & Cheesy Pizza. The Staff Was Decent, Though I Didn't Interact Much. The Overall Setup Is Interesting, A Full Restaurant Vibe Inside With This Separate Pizza Concept On The Side. Different, But It Works. However, it didn't live up to the expectations. Upon arriving, my husband and I were shown to a table against the wall that had been set up under some kind of ledge that might normally be used as a bar. I would have had this ledge leaning up against me so I asked if we could move to another table. We were seated at a table in front of the door and the hostess stand, so it was cramped. The tables were extremely packed, I had to use a plastic chair, and the table was wobbly so we had to fix that as well. The day had been a little warm so the door was propped open but when we got to the restaurant, it was really chilly. Since we were right by the door, I asked the waitress if we could shut the door. The waitress said she had to ask the manager and the manager came back and said no. There was a couple next to us who said that they also asked to close the door and the manager said no. My husband ended up getting up and was like Yo dog, it's 40 degrees outside, close the door. They ended up closing the door so like a little sexist? Why will the close a door when a man asks? The waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, and we opted for still. You can imagine our surpris when we found out that we were charged $8.00 for water because we did not specify "tap." We didn't discuss it with the waiter but I thought that was idk, kind of shitty? Everyone knows that you don't pay for the still water We started with the grilled octopus which was ok and we ordered two of the bruschettas. I want to clarify, this meant that we literally got one of each type of bruschetta. I thought we would get like a small plate of both but it was literally two pieces of bread for $12 each. Yikes. I got the short rib pasta which was fine. The sauce wasn't very smooth. My husband got a panini that was also fine but certainly not worth the price tag. For the trouble with asking to move the table, the wobbly furniture, the water, and the door issue, not the best. Won't be returning!

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

It's worth the compromise- trust me! Both were delicious but I'll skip the detroit crust next time, and there will be a next time. For me the detroit crust was a bit spongy and had a slight yeast taste. Not enough to ruin the experience but enough for me to choose a different crust next time. We also got the ranch for dipping - new experience. That too wasn't for me. The ranch is homemade and great texture and flavor just not what I expected. It had a heavy dill flavor...yep...dill.
