Had a silly goofy time at Desert 5 Spot. It can get crowed in there, so prepare yourself mentally for that.

Chicken wings were good and fries were pretty good too. came here to grab a quick eat and drink before going bc to the movies and it was great. service was great, and music was country and a vibe. i did go around 6pm so it wasn't packed at all and they were setting up the live band. curious about what the late night vibe is like. they also seem like they have great late night eats. hopefully i'll be back

Best country bar in DMV. Great food - ordered the pork ribs and cauliflower entrees with corn, brussel sprouts, and cabbage slaw. Cocktails are on the sweeter side and the Italian red wine on the menu is actually a rose. The place is extremely busy with lines around the block outside. Make a reservation around 8 pm to catch two live bands. Rooftop is impressive. We will be back!

Desert 5 Spot is new country bar in dc. The decor was great with a western vine and the outside area had a view. They even have a mechanical bull! That said, it does get very packed we had to wait about 15-30 minutes just to get in. Once inside, the energy is great with classic country songs, but I was surprised they didn't have cranberry juice or Red Bull at the bar (kind of unusual for a place like this). Overall, it's a trendy and unique country bar with a great rooftop, but just be prepared for crowds and limited mixer options.

I honestly had a disappointing experience here. From the overpriced drinks (a vodka cran cost $16) to the mechanical bull being broken for the most of the night, this was not a place I would come back to anytime soon. This place reminded me of my time living in Nashville, and that's why this place didn't get a 1 star rating as the live music was good. Not sure if my review reflects Desert 5 or bars in DC in general, but it seems like I still have yet found a country bar that I like in this city.

Stopped by here on a Friday evening and there was live entertainment, which drew us in. We tried their spinach artichoke dip, which came with chips and veggies. Our server Georgia was really nice and was always willing to check in although it did get pretty packed quickly. They have a really cool western theme set up, with a mechanical bull upstairs. I'd love to come back when they have the Wild West Thursday's, with beer and a shot for $5 till 9pm.

What a fun spot! Nothing in DC like it - I truly felt like I stepped into Nashville. Riding a bull, Photo Booth photos, rooftop cocktails, live music - this bar has it all!! The bartender upstairs made us amazing cocktails. Everything was so aesthetic and clean. I can't wait to return!

This is such a fun addition to the neighborhood! Everyone is so friendly and provides the best service and all the food is fantastic! Go enjoy their music, a drink, and don't miss out on the brisket sandwich and the cornbread sticks!

Howdy baby! A honky tonk in Union Market - we have landed the plane! I've been 3 times at this point and I just can't get enough. Saddle up for some amazing energy whether it's on the first level with live bands (literally every night) or upstairs for some rooftop action, Yellowstone lounge vibes or bull riding action. Drinks are delicious too - I recommend any of the tequila concoctions. Big tip - make a reso if you're coming after 6pm on a weekend night. Bonus - they have karaoke Wednesday nights. Yes, I was the one belching "I've got friends in low places" last night....yee haw! Locked in on Desert 5.

Came here on a Friday night just for the bar - arrived before 9 so there was no line to enter. Very elaborate western decor, lots of different areas to explore - upstairs bar + dj, outdoor area, downstairs had live music. It did get very busy - had friends show up around 10/11 and the line wrapped around the street. They also have a deal on Wednesdays for 20002 residents, will have to check that out!

This place is great for dinner or a night out. We went on a Friday and they had live music all night. Upstairs they have a mechanical bull which was fun. The chicken sandwich was delicious, it had a little heat and a lot of flavor. The service was a little hard to track down at points.

    Live band

From the moment you walk in, the energy is electric. Literally like you've stumbled into a secret party everyone wishes they were invited to. The live band absolutely kills it with high-energy, insanely talented, and clearly having as much fun as the crowd. It's the kind of vibe that keeps you dancing between sips. And the cocktails? Unreal. Perfectly balanced, creative, and dangerously drinkable. You can tell the bartenders actually care as they mix with flair and know exactly how to match your mood. The space itself strikes that rare balance between cool and comfortable. It's sleek enough for a night out, but still chill enough that you actually want to stay awhile. Whether you're here for a date night, group hang, or just to catch the band, Desert Spot 5 nails it. Honestly, DC's nightlife just leveled up. Desert Spot 5 is where the fun's at. Go now before the rest of the city catches on.

We received the check in an actual book!

What an...interesting experience…read more This bar sits on top of the Moxy Hotel, which is a sleek, modern spot in downtown DC. Unfortunately, getting to the rooftop was one of the most frustrating parts of the night. Access is only through the lobby, and the security team handling crowd control was completely disorganized. We were constantly being redirected with conflicting instructions: told to line up around the bar, then yelled at to move to the wall, then called to the elevator, then scolded for approaching it. It felt chaotic and unnecessarily hostile, like we were being managed instead of welcomed. To make things worse, IDs were checked multiple times (3-4 times per person) because there was no clear or centralized process. We were attending a birthday party that the venue itself had advertised on Instagram with ~75 guests expected at 9pm. When we arrived, we were told the rooftop was "closed" until 10. After waiting an hour in the lobby bar and dealing with the confusion above we finally got upstairs...only to find it already packed with people who had clearly been there for hours. The "reserved section" for our group was extremely underwhelming: a small space directly in front of a very loud DJ booth and a cold back corner where the heat lamps didn't work (and staff said there was nothing they could do). Service was just okay...no one was particularly friendly, but orders were eventually filled. The bar was oddly limited (only one beer option: Michelob Ultra), and some bartenders seemed unsure about basic drink requests (like a vodka soda with pineapple). The biggest issue came when we asked for the birthday cake we had given to staff earlier for storage. No one knew where it was. It took over 30 minutes and multiple staff members to locate it, and when we finally left for the night, the cake box was damaged beyond use with no remorse. Overall, this is much more of a crowded, club-style rooftop than a place for a planned event, dinner, or even conversation. The view is nice, but the experience didn't match the hype. If you go, expect a party vibe and minimal service and be prepared to navigate some very confusing (and inconsistent) security direction.

They gave us the two-hour heads up, which was totally fair. The outside seating area was closed off because of the weather, but honestly it didn't even rain. That didn't kill the vibe AT ALL though! We started with 4 orders of chips and guac and omg the guac had this perfect little spicy kick to it, chef's kiss! Everyone ordered something different and the carne asada was a total crowd favorite. My sister got the barbacoa tacos and was obsessed. We also got the elote with chips (didn't snap a pic but I'm STILL thinking about it). And there's this salad with strawberries and chicken that I was NOT expecting it to be that good. Now let's talk about the PALETA SHOTS - you HAVE to try these!! We kept ordering round after round. Also had some Espolón Blanco. For dessert we went all in with churros and tres leches cake and I have zero regrets. The DJ was killing it all night, playing r&b and taking requests! They even gave my cousin a birthday shoutout which made her whole night. The staff was on point, the energy was unmatched, and honestly I can't wait to come back. If you're looking for a fun spot with amazing food and good vibes, THIS IS IT! Highly recommend.

My waitress was super friendly, bubbly, and really knew the menu. She gave some great recommendations. I ordered the American breakfast and the biscuit French toast. Everything was good! The sunnyside eggs were especially great, and both the sausage and bacon were cooked really well. Even the arugula salad that came with the breakfast stood out. It had a light lemon vinaigrette that I really enjoyed. The hash browns with a fried block delight. I wasn't sure what to expect with the biscuit French toast, but it tasted exactly like it sounds. biscuits turned into French toast. It didn't have that classic French toast flavor, but it was still really good and worth trying. The atmosphere was nice, pretty packed, but the noise level was just right. My waitress checked on me often, which I appreciated. I'll definitely be coming back for brunch!

The response we received was, "Didn't we call you already?" Unfortunately, we had not been contacted, and this left us scrambling at the last minute with family, friends, and out-of-town guests already committed to the plans. It was a significant inconvenience, especially for what was meant to be a special occasion. On a positive note, we were able to pivot to another establishment that handled our group with professionalism and care. We truly appreciated their ambiance and service, which helped salvage the evening. I hope Yardbird Southern Table & Bar improves its communication and reservation management so other guests don't experience a similar disruption.
