I was here for a yelp event a few months ago and really enjoyed myself. The place is classy but small and also dark - I guess it's the theme. There is only one bar by the stairs and the bartenders are attentive and quick. The DJ is good and plays music that is popular today. The dance floor is a bit small but take note the bar itself is small. They have better liquor on shelf so definitely you can order better drinks. However, this place gets 2 stars because of my previous experience on St. Patty's day. The place was packed because everyone is trying to party on this day so literally every bar in DuPont is packed. We were going through the crowd and as I was holding my boyfriend's hand to not lose him, someone grabbed my butt..the worst part was that as I was trying to move away and get myself out of that situation, he kept following me the same path we were going. And the worst of the worst is that he looked me in the eye then also looked at my boyfriend to make sure he can't see. I felt very violated and maybe uncomfortable that people like that are out in places. And no I wasn't wearing skimpy clothes - literally wearing pants and a shirt. This was an amazing dance club/champagne bar right by our hotel. I came to with my girlfriend and we wanted a club to dance, along with a nice area to hang out and have a couple of drinks. It was definitely a very nice club and there was DJ with great music. I was happy to make it before the large crowd to get a few drinks at the bar. It did get pretty packed at around 11pm and I was surprised because it was a Sunday and it got crowded pretty quickly. There was a decent line to get in so we thought it'd be lit. Nope. If you watch the door you'll notice everyone who goes in comes out five minutes later. The little man syndrome from the guys at the door was pretty off-putting as well, making unprompted comments at people leaving the place... weird Once we got inside it was completely guys just stalking around. If the name Heist conjures up visions of high-profile art thefts, jewel capers, and robberies involving burlap sacks with dollar signs on the side, you're on the right track: this is where the masterminds would gather to toast their latest successful job. From an unassuming--and mostly unmarked--door on Jefferson Place (just west of Shake Shack, if you're lost), you enter into a darkened stairwell, with an illuminated handrail as the only light to guide you to the bar that awaits downstairs. Although the bar's focus is champagne, there's a good chance that, unless you've actually committed a crime recently, you won't be splurging on a $25,000 Methuselah of Armand de Brignac; various Doms, Moëts, and Veuves grace the bottle service list as well. Or if you prefer something less bubbly, the Gold Rush is a safe bet, with Bulleit bourbon (naturally), honey, and lemon juice. Other fittingly-named drinks such as the vodka-based Bonnie or the tequila-based Clyde are also available. Drink in hand, you'll want to head back toward the surveillance footage of slightly less masterful criminals holding up fast food restaurants, where the custom CNC-milled DJ booth bumps out the themesong to your own next swindle: getting that number. Surprised by the ratings to be honest. I went here on a Saturday night with a bunch of friends and there's a couple of things that I think people should know about this place before they go. 1. It's tiny. 2. It gets incredibly hot down there and not in the good way. 3. There is no dance floor. The wait staff continuously elbows their way through the crowds to bring overpriced watered-down drinks to the dummies who though this place was a good place to go dancing. 4. The DJ is awful. He has no talent. Just god awful. This isn't about music taste. He's just is bad at his job and should purse another field of work. 5. They let people with sneakers and t-shirts in. On 2/26/2023, the bartender stole or lost my credit card here when I tried to close my tab. Initially, he insisted on keeping my card and keeping it open which I thought was odd because I said I was only ordering one drink. About 20 minutes later, I patiently waited for them to find it, and he kicked me out of the bar. I was very sober and respectful of the staff. I suspect there is fraudulent activity occurring here. I put a lock on my credit card and they still charged me for a $20 lousy drink! The bathrooms are filthy and this bar is an overall public health hazard. Pretty cool place. They have great decor, and that's half the fun when you're hanging out with friends. Even better, they have very kind bartenders who were happy to give us cups of water for free with our drinks without sneering. There is a coat check in the back by the bathrooms, but it's $5 per item, yikes. Once we dropped off our coats, we hit the floor. The dj was playing pretty good music and pounding and thumping the walls. It was packed on friday night. Surprisingly, there's not a ton of dancing despite the middle section of the space being open for that purpose. It's a small underground venue, so we were up against a wall chatting with our drinks. But it was nice, I'm sure I'll be back. The crowd is a bit young but lots of bottle service going on. Take that for what you will. read more

So, this tiny little lounge packs a big bunch yet not in a good way. The staff is consistently rude, with personalities that don't make you feel welcomed what so ever. I tried to get a feel of the place on separate nights, thinking it might be the promoters, or maybe I caught them on a bad night, but over and over again I've never left this place been given at best decent service. Overall if your looking for a pretentious place that's the size of most people's bedrooms well this is your place. Heist used to be Fly Lounge, I think. Back in the day there was this girl that worked there and I used to go because she was hot, and we hooked up in college. She turned out to be crazy and I distinctly remember ending up outside a private sex club in chinatown wearing pajamas, at around 3 AM, gripping a bottle of nyquil and knowing that I had to walk back to my apartment in the east village all while praying to god that nobody stole my nyquil. That is a story for another time. Heist makes good use of the space it has - sort of a railway basement space, and uses a lot of muted colors and warm tones that are especially nice in the winter, but which I am a bit concerned will lend the place a bit of a funereal air in the warmer months. Of course who among us has not picked up a girl at a funeral, am I right? Am I right guys? Oh god my life what is happening! I was here recently as my boy DJ Trayze was spinning (and he put together a killer evening btw, so if he plays here again you should go) and I ended up spending time with some girls that go to GW, one of whom was wearing a dope throwback MJ jersey, you know, MJ, that dude who played basketball and was like pretty good, I dunno I would prob pick him second in a pickup basketball game and he'd be like "we should be skins" and I would take my shirt off and just be like "you are so lanky and muscular while I am pale and skinny" and he would probably be a dick about it. Anyway she was hot and the rest of the girls were hot, and it was actually temperature-wise hot inside, such that I had to leave a few times just to walk around outside and cool down. The doorguys were very nice about it all and didn't give me shit about leaving and coming back in all the time, which is the difference between good doorguys and the girls I usually sleep with, which is that the girls I sleep with tend to want me to leave as soon as I leave their basement bar, if you know what I mean. I mean that most of the girls I sleep with own basement bars, like this one called basement jacks and I was like "oh you manage basement jaxx? That's so cool" and she was like "no I run a place that is a bar called jacks in the basement" and I didn't think that was AS cool so I didn't kiss her on the mouth because I'm not that kind of girl. Anyways, yeah go here, it's fucking dope and the girls are dope, and the dudes are dope, and the drinks are dope. Plus this girl that came home with my boy lost her shoe and these dudes outside shake shack were trying to bro fist him carrying a drunk girl(like YEAH BRO DATE RAPE BRO YEAH) and my buddy was like "settle down, she's going to go to sleep and not get raped bros" and they like sadly went back to talking about chicks or shakes or shacks or Shaq or whatever the fuck terrible bros talk about which is probably all of those things. read more

Nice space, good vibe the only reason I am giving one star is because of the door men. I called ahead during the day to find out the details and was told there was no cover. Got there and I was told table reservations only or $20 cover. I figured I'm already here dressed might as well go in. So we handed the guy a $100 bill for two. he did not have any change that's when I thought it was strange that there isn't a cashier or at least a doorman with $60 in change. This told me two things either there is no one inside or the doormen are trying to make some money. so we left and went and got change. I then decided to call the clubs number again, someone answers and I ask what is the cover, I was then told there is no cover. Strange I though. So I went back told the guy that I just called was told there was no cover, by that time there was a young lady who worked at the venue who looked shocked and said there isn't a cover but after looking at the door man said oh yea there is. I proceeded to dial the number and guess who's phone lit up. The door man who then realized what was going on and put the phone away. At that point I was pissed, I just stepped aside and was going to write a review on the spot. The door man then came to us introduced himself as one of the owners and explained that entry is at the doorman discretion blah blah blah. I ended up going in only because my friend had traveled all the way from VA and I also wanted to see the DJ performing that night. Any other night I would have told them off on the spot. Not going to play the race card here only because my friend was white. I guess we didn't have the look they were looking for which by the way we had boat shoes, dress shirts and seersucker pants. Heist - Neat - Champagne Bars Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

My idea of a good night out is good drinks and beautiful people. By beautiful people I mean well dressed, respectful people, and though that may sound boring to some, I hate going to a club only to have drinks spilled all over my nice clothes and be groped by drunk idiots stumbling and slurring all over the place. I enjoy a good time as much as the next person, but please, learn to hold your liquor! Anyway, back to Heist- it may be a little high class for an every night hang out, but they have some pretty great events for a planned night out. Their drinks are nice and strong, and about the usual for a high end DC club ($$). The decor is beautiful and the DJ's are pretty good. They play a mix of everything, which I suppose is only good for someone with very eclectic taste, like me, but I suppose they can't please everyone. The only downside to this place is the space- this used to be Fly Lounge, which was modeled after the inside of a plane, which is about as big as this place is. However, it gives the place a nice intimate feel. All in all, I love this place! I will definitely be back and I'm sure I"ll be hosting many girl's night's out here in the future. read more

Heist is one damn sexy, classy basement club. When someone thinks of basements, tell them this is the opposite of whatever they're thinking. Think Count of Monte Cristo caves on an island, but instead of animal furs lining the wall you have gorgeous champagne bottles behind glowing gold jail bars. And they do love gold down here - even the toilets are glazed with the stuff! The bar takes up the entire right side of the place with a nice VIP section right behind the DJ booth (which is almost an extension of the bar). The outside is pretty unremarkable except for a couple big ox (or some similar animal) horns you'll see if you walk past Shake Shack on Jefferson St. I came here pretty early on their opening Saturday since a friend of mine knew an owner so it started out quiet, but boy did the high rollers start rolling through come the wee hours of the night! One thing that really stands out about this club is that the DJ knows how to spin the right music - hard hitting, sick dance beats all night long. As for drinks, they'll cost you a pretty penny, but if you're there get an Old-Fashioned. Possibly the best I've had at a DC club. Well, when you're in the mood to celebrate or you know, got that extra cash to drop down, head to Heist with a bunch of friends (bring the ladies!) and get down to the ill flow of Heist's DJ. read more

It's a club. There's some poor music, and after being here for about 2 hours saw that there was never anyone dancing. Just a bunch of people with money to spend standing around pouring champagne. Maybe that's fun for some people, but when I go to a club I want to dance. The interior was kinda cool, and dimly lit. The place was very small, and decently crowded the Friday night that I went. Drinks are your average club price (11 for a rum and diet). Overall, if I was a single male I'd stay away from this place. I came here Thurs to check this place out for the first time. The decor wowed me, the politeness of the staff shocked me, and the lack of drunken idiots pleased me. I had such a great time that I came back again Friday. This place has class, whether it is the decor or the people. Pretty much everyone looked posh and polished. This is how a club should be. I had a great time with my girls without fear of foreign hands touching our private parts, even if we've had a couple of drinks in. The DJ was great and the music starts pumpin' around midnight. The music is the typical club electronic beats. The drinks were pretty strong, which is a plus since most high end clubs usually serves some cheesy drinks that leaves me thinking whether I just ordered a plain soda. The decor is really nice, the door is unmarked and it's almost like walking into a cave, a very beautiful, upscale cave that is! The DJ booth is right next to the bar and the bar is pretty big so it takes up half of the place. It's a little small but it fits with the theme. The drinks are a bit pricey even for DC ($12-14) while beers are normal $7 but they really didn't have much options. This place is upscale and classy! Came here on a Sunday and got there a little early since we knew the DJ's that we're there for the night. It didn't start getting packed until around 11:30pm but all the tables were bought and the DJ was playin' hits! That night it was more hip hop and a little bit of an older crowd but everybody was gettin' down! Everybody was dancing so it was a lot of fun. Very small basement club but the decor is lovely. I came on Wednesday, July 3rd for a party with an advertised open bar from 10-11. Once I got there and tried to order a drink, the bartender tells me the open bar is beer only. What kind of open bar is beer only?? I felt bamboozled and swindled. Beer is ok, but I expected them to have more than 3 options for a "just beer open bar". Budweiser, Flying Dog, and Belgian White. I'm turned off by the false advertisement and I'd much rather drink 10 bottles of beer in a more spacious environment. Not sure if i'll be back or recommend anyone to go.
