Ok so you're not coming here for the decor. Think of this more as a stop off of a two lane highway through rural South Carolina. We shared catfish fried with yams, mac and cheese, and grits. I might add my dinner companion may or may not have been under the influence of marijuana, and I certainly cannot attest to having less than 2 martinis so .. it's possible that influenced our decision. It's a narrow, tight place. Don't think about eating there, get it to go with some corn bread and go outside.

Update bc it's been a while and the quality here has gone way downhill. ordered my usual fried chicken breast - the chicken was small and pounded so thin, had 0 texture on the fry, the batter slid off the chicken and had no flavor. the mac also had no flavor, tasted like plain noodles with salt. and the collard greens were not savory but sweet, cooked with lots of sugar. even the buffalo sauce is sweet, more like a buffalo/mumbo sauce. can no longer recommend after tonight's meal

We came in around 8pm on a Friday night for dinner, and unfortunately, the night started off a little rocky. They were out of shrimp for the shrimp & grits and crab for the crab & spinach dip -- two items we really wanted. Disappointing, but we decided to go without them. During happy hour, they list a few select mixed drinks (Rum Punch, Tropical Margarita, White Peach Seabreeze, etc.), but the one I ordered they didn't have the mix for. I switched to another, only to find out the drinks were premade in pitchers. A little unusual, but I let that slide as well. For entrées, I ordered the "2 meats for $37" deal and went with the Beef Short Ribs (3 ribs) and the Hot Honey Old Bay Wings (10). The waitress mentioned I'd get the full portions as if I'd ordered them separately, which sounded like a good deal. My partner ordered the Catfish & Grits. The food itself was excellent. The catfish was crispy, well-seasoned, and flavorful. My short ribs were tender and fell off the bone. The wings, greens, and mac & cheese were also seasoned well and delicious. The issue came at the end when the bill was higher than expected. There were upcharges for both the ribs and the wings that weren't explained by the waitress or listed in the menu. On top of that, a 20% automatic gratuity was added -- for a party of two -- with no mention of this on the menu or posted anywhere. That was a surprise, and honestly left a bad taste after what was otherwise a solid meal. Bottom line: Food: Great Service: Okay Pricing/Transparency: Needs serious improvement It's frustrating to be hit with surprise charges, especially when the food and atmosphere are otherwise enjoyable. Please do better with communication and transparency -- it makes all the difference. (3/5)

I found out about this place from Tik Tok and decided to give it a try for Mother's Day while out in DC. Tik Tok wasn't clear on the location so I just took a gamble and tried the Georgia Ave location. It's a nice quaint place. I made a reservation online. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. There was a brunch option, but I opted for the dinner because it came with 2 sides. I ordered Oxtails with a side of Mac N Cheese and Yams and a lemonade. We waited about 30 mins. before our order was ready. The order came in to-go containers with plastic utensils which is a neat idea. Everything I ordered was delicious. I got full rather quick so I took the rest to go. Our waiter was nice and pleasant. He seemed to be in his element.

Oohh's & Aahh's really lives up to the name, every bite had me doing just that! I ordered the 2-piece catfish and it was fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. The mac and cheese was a standout, rich, creamy, and full of cheesy goodness with that perfect baked top. The whipped yams were sweet, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth smooth, honestly like dessert in disguise. The medium fried was just the right level of crisp without being too greasy, and the three hot sauce packets and remoulade sauce took everything up a notch. The cornbread was soft, warm, and slightly sweetperfect for sopping up every last bit of flavor. And I can't forget the house-made strawberry lemonade--fresh, not too sweet, and super refreshing. You can tell they don't cut corners here. It all tasted home-cooked with love. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the food was absolutely worth the hype. This is real-deal soul food, and I'll definitely be coming back!

The food was flavorful and the portions decent but the cost high. I was little disappointed with service and someone mentioned seeing a bug spray can in the kitchen area. Having to stand outside in cold weather to wait for food, was not it. Not eager to go back here.

This was my first time visiting this establishment and I was not disappointed. The meatloaf was seasoned very well and had good flavor. It did remind me of a Salisbury steak. I guess I'm used to red gravy. The greens & yams were tasty. The waiter (I didn't get his name) was very friendly & transparent. Gave honest opinion when asked about food & drink options. I appreciate that. The ambiance was awesome. The music playing was very much brunch appropriate. The establishment was very clean. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This place use to be a neighborhood staple. Quality food and great environment. This place is a sad reminder of what happens when the passion for delivering fresh soul food is lost or overshadowed by long jeopardy. I had 10 party wings and two sides $25 is ok I guess... The mac and cheese taste like a 15 year old 10th grader made it at home while playing the game‍ horribly the first worst thing ever eaten. The collards taste like they had been cooked on Wednesday. I was there on Saturday Party wings had every salt ever developed, taste like a assault If your looking for food and its late night your on U st. Dont go to Oohh's & Aahh's Go home sleep it off. Imagine waking up with a hangover andddd upset stomach from eating awful food.

If you are looking for some soul food in DC, this spot is a MUST!! Everything I got was so good. Definitely some home cooking food. It hit the spot. They were busy and I did wait about 25 mins but it was worth it.

Loved everything! Especially the cabbage and I hate vegetables, lol

Had the pleasure of visiting this place when I visited DC. I loved the food! The definition of soul food done right! You get an incredible portion of food at a reasonable price: my whole plate was about $32 dollars, and clearly there is enough food here for two. However, I would order for one and save the rest for leftovers since i enjoyed the food so much. I appreciated the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful in advising on what to order. The restaurant gives you the vibes of a traditional, small, family owned business. The only drawback I had was the inside ambiance wasn't necessarily the most appealing in the sense that most of the establishment looks dated or a tad rundown. Therefore, I personally wouldn't be inclined to dine in when I come back. I would rather have my "home cooked" meal at home :)

Whiting, Macaroni & Cheese, Fresh Collard Greens

This was my first time trying Oohh's & Aahh's and oh my goodness...SO good! I got a takeout order with whiting, mac and cheese, and greens, and all three were a hit. The flavors were so satisfying. The mac and cheese is creamy but not too loose, the greens are seasoned just right, and the whiting literally melts in your mouth. I'll definitely be coming back!

Gave the the fish too my dog

was really disappointed with my order. The fish wasn't fried hard, it came out soggy. The sides were terrible, and the cornbread wasn't even cooked through -- you could still taste the raw mixture. Overall, the food looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. Definitely not worth the money.

Looking for a late night meal or snack? Then this spot's for you. It's a small hole in the wall shop with not much room to stand around in so you order and wait outside until they call your number. It was a bit of a wait, especially for the fried food, but it was tasty and the service was nice! I got the fried whiting with a side of mac and cheese and collard greens. It came with 3 pieces of the fried fish that remained crispy even after 15 minutes of transporting it back to the hotel. It was slightly fishy though. The collard greens were a bit sweet which I found interesting. But my favorite was definitely the mac and cheese. It was so cheesy and gooey and just delicious. They're also known for their beef ribs and turkey wings which they still had some left in their display but we were craving something greasy and fried.

Do they take same day reservations?

I believe so. We actually called and they told us we did not need a reservation. We drove there within a hour.

Is the Oohh's & Aahh's on Georgia ave, owned by the same owners?

Yes One is a new sit down and the other is to go. We are at the sit down .

What an...interesting experience…read more This bar sits on top of the Moxy Hotel, which is a sleek, modern spot in downtown DC. Unfortunately, getting to the rooftop was one of the most frustrating parts of the night. Access is only through the lobby, and the security team handling crowd control was completely disorganized. We were constantly being redirected with conflicting instructions: told to line up around the bar, then yelled at to move to the wall, then called to the elevator, then scolded for approaching it. It felt chaotic and unnecessarily hostile, like we were being managed instead of welcomed. To make things worse, IDs were checked multiple times (3-4 times per person) because there was no clear or centralized process. We were attending a birthday party that the venue itself had advertised on Instagram with ~75 guests expected at 9pm. When we arrived, we were told the rooftop was "closed" until 10. After waiting an hour in the lobby bar and dealing with the confusion above we finally got upstairs...only to find it already packed with people who had clearly been there for hours. The "reserved section" for our group was extremely underwhelming: a small space directly in front of a very loud DJ booth and a cold back corner where the heat lamps didn't work (and staff said there was nothing they could do). Service was just okay...no one was particularly friendly, but orders were eventually filled. The bar was oddly limited (only one beer option: Michelob Ultra), and some bartenders seemed unsure about basic drink requests (like a vodka soda with pineapple). The biggest issue came when we asked for the birthday cake we had given to staff earlier for storage. No one knew where it was. It took over 30 minutes and multiple staff members to locate it, and when we finally left for the night, the cake box was damaged beyond use with no remorse. Overall, this is much more of a crowded, club-style rooftop than a place for a planned event, dinner, or even conversation. The view is nice, but the experience didn't match the hype. If you go, expect a party vibe and minimal service and be prepared to navigate some very confusing (and inconsistent) security direction.

They gave us the two-hour heads up, which was totally fair. The outside seating area was closed off because of the weather, but honestly it didn't even rain. That didn't kill the vibe AT ALL though! We started with 4 orders of chips and guac and omg the guac had this perfect little spicy kick to it, chef's kiss! Everyone ordered something different and the carne asada was a total crowd favorite. My sister got the barbacoa tacos and was obsessed. We also got the elote with chips (didn't snap a pic but I'm STILL thinking about it). And there's this salad with strawberries and chicken that I was NOT expecting it to be that good. Now let's talk about the PALETA SHOTS - you HAVE to try these!! We kept ordering round after round. Also had some Espolón Blanco. For dessert we went all in with churros and tres leches cake and I have zero regrets. The DJ was killing it all night, playing r&b and taking requests! They even gave my cousin a birthday shoutout which made her whole night. The staff was on point, the energy was unmatched, and honestly I can't wait to come back. If you're looking for a fun spot with amazing food and good vibes, THIS IS IT! Highly recommend.

Deliciousness - 3/5 Happiness -5/5…read more This place is for drinkers as it has no food, so if you want to lift an ale (and go out for dinner before or after, or bring food in with you), this is the place to be. They have a large beer, wine, and liquor list (although not nearly as many English beers as I expected from a place called Crown & Crow). I won't deny that I wasn't a fan of either of the mixed cocktails I had, with both (including strangely a smoky drink) being too sweet. But the beer was expertly poured and the wine was a very generous serving. The prices are also more than reasonable, which is great for a DC bar. But what really elevates this place is the service. By late night, the place was jam packed. But each and every bartender was extremely friendly and they expertly worked the crowd, getting drinks served quickly (which too few places manage to do) and swiftly clearing off tables of dirty glasses. I also greatly appreciated the free goldfish that they happily dole out to the patrons. The staff made this a really good time.

The bartender in the main room was great, he was very friendly and once he started a tab for me he said I could use the other bar too, I guess he wasn't aware the bartender at that other bar already told me she wouldn't help me. Regardless, the drinks we had were decent. For small bites, they only had gold fish crackers, I wish they would have had more to nosh on while drinking. Overall, not a bad visit.
