I came in simply trying to place an order and inquire about the confusing menu, and the experience was completely unprofessional. The Asian man taking my order was extremely rude and explained the menu in the most confusing way possible. He didn't explain that sandwiches don't come in a platter despite the way the menu is written. (At the Waffle House you get hash browns with the Texas bacon egg and cheese melt). When I tried to simplify/understand what he said, an Asian woman jumped into the conversation and attempted to argue with me. After all that, the man sarcastically told me, "it's as simple as that." That kind of disrespect is not how you treat customers. I don't tolerate disrespect from anyone and I know they wouldn't appreciate it if someone spoke to them in that manner. I've been coming here for years. Always good food and prices were always pretty good to me. Service isn't the best, but avg. Service is better when they are not busy. Not a sit down spot, they have a very small counter maybe 7 feet, but the place is small. Some menu items aren't worth it to me anymore, like the big breakfast. 2 eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Substitutes are an additional charge. I get turkey bacon and turkeys sausage. That platter after tax is $16.55. I think that's high for a takeout only breakfast spot. I was surprised when they told me the price. No substitutes w/o tax is $13. I think that's okay if you eat pork. I'll stick to regular breakfast platters, breakfast sandwiches and wings and wedges. This is a food counter. There is no interior seating. They make egg sandwiches with white or wheat bread. They are the best egg sandwiches 15 minutes walking distance from my house, so I eat them regularly. Only real issue is they don't police the inside, so no one is sure who's ordering, who's waiting, or who's looking at the menu. They also do not enforce waiting outside so if its crowded, you could be waiting 20 plus minutes to order/get your food. Yummmm fried chicken!! 4.5! I was looking for a good brunch place, but ended up finding this place online and I'm glad I did because it had a really delicious menu. I got the chicken and waffles and a side order of wedge fries fried a little harder. The chicken and waffle was exactly want I wanted. The chicken was crispy and the order came with three wings on top of a waffle. The waffle could have been better, but the crispy perfectly seasoned chicken made up for it. I just drizzled some syrup on my chicken and waffles and it was perfection! I also ordered a side of wedge fries. I asked them to fry the wedge fries a little bit harder for me. If you get your fries a little bit harder, then they are crispier and hot. They were delicious. The interior of the place was very cute. It felt super urban and workers were friendly. If a restaurant is PACKED at 630am on a Saturday morning, they are doing something remarkable. Although it is just a tiny hole in the wall, Tony's Breakfast is one of my favorite places to grab a quick & filling (AND AFFORDABLE) meal. There's not much seating so picture more of a carry-out/take-out restaurant. They are the H St kings of fried chicken wings. Fried to perfection, warm, and crispy. My favorite item on the menu is still the chicken and waffles (a fluffy waffle with delicious fried chicken), but the breakfast sandwiches and potato wedges are always delicious and satisfying. I have to say... even though I didn't get a big hoagie, I wouldn't have minded if it was a foot long. That's my first thought when I bit into this hoagie. We came here because well, I was wondering if there was a good place for a hoagie. So we walked like 8 blocks to get here, and coming from a place where we don't walk much, it was nice, even if it was raining. I ordered the kitchen sink hoagie, which basically had everything. I didn't add the onions though (my lady's request). However, when I bit into this hoagie it was a burst of flavor. When we walked into Tony's, it was packed. The one thing I miss about where I live now is the diversity, and this place definitely had it. What was interesting for me was that it was ran by Asian people. I had to definitely give my nod there. Supposedly this place isn't the best of the neighborhoods, but hey, I don't think that bothered me one bit. It was nice to see coming from the monotony of where I currently live. When you come in, they have the menu on the chalkboard and I would say put in your order in. You'll get a ticket stub and they'll start getting through your order. I would definitely say that this isn't the sit down sort of spot, and more of a take out. It was so crowded that we decided to eat ours outside by the front door. Hey, it worked. Definitely a big fan of this place. Wish we had more of these types of shops down where I lived, because I would definitely be a regular.
