Amazing experience in a hidden gem of Deanwood! The cook was authentic and you watched him grill you order - our waitress is just the friendly face you want to talk to behind the corner and I think it was Mary! get out of homogeneous arlington and support your community and small business owners!

Perfectly cooked eggs over medium with corned beef hash. And those grits!! Yum!

Believe the positive reviews and ignore the dubious exterior. This place is legit. Been there for 50 years (!) and serving a solid diner style breakfast. They do not accept credit cards - so that's something to note as there's nary an ATM closeby. It's so much better than any options in the area and they are super nice and friendly as well! I'll definitely be back - I'd love to try their smothered pork chop special!

A group of friends and I went to the Deanwood area for a fun day of exploration, complete without doing any research or Yelping before we arrived. After departing the Deanwood Metro we walked across the street to the Community Center where we were given the recommendation of Mary's Place, and there we went! Location - This place is missable if you don't know where you are going. If you are near the highway, you're almost there since this restaurant runs parallel. Food - Breakfast diner food. Get a country fried steak with potatoes for ~$7, or french toast with eggs and sausage ~$9. Other items include pancakes, cheeseburgers and other sandwiches, corn bread, and beans & rice. CA$H ONLY!!! Space - Sit up at the counter or there are two small tables that may fit four people squished. Not too big but it does the job. You can tell it's a local place, which only adds to its charm! If that doesn't do it, you'll get a joy reading the words of wisdom on the walls or looking at the photos inside. Staff - Susie and the team are great, friendly, and quick with the food! The grill is right in front of the counter and you can see them whipping up the food like ninjas. Overall, awesome local Deanwood experience for all to witness and enjoy. As Susie says, "woo hoooo!"

Here from the West Coast for a wedding. Stumbled upon this place. Was first a little apprehensive. Will there was no reason for it. The breakfast was odd the chart delish. Felt right at home with the regulars. Will be back before we leave.

Gone are the blue walls and no more of the carry out feel. I remember this place had some of best bacon but you can tell the quality of food has gone out the window. I walked in and was greeted by a guy taking orders. His customer service skills were good. That was the only reason for the 2 stars. I ordered the wings and waffle, Belgian waffle and breakfast platter along with 2 drinks for $42 bucks. Not too bad. We sat at a table and the food came. Once again, the guy at the counter was great. He made sure to bring over our waffles while they were hot. That was the only part of the food that was good/decent, hence the second star. The rest is poor quality and belongs in the trash. The eggs were not real and god awful. The 8 wingettes came straight out of a freezer bag/ air fryer. TRASH. The bacon was fresh out of the microwave. I'll never ever come back. The food is that bad. If there was anyone standing outside needing food I would have happily given it to them. This place has fallen off a cliff hence the empty parking lot. It is a hard no for me.

I called to order pickup, and the service was nice and friendly. Also, the spot is very reliable, as it's open until midnight and roughly 16 hours of the day, serving many different options, from fast food to comfort food. I ordered the combo over rice ($13), the Philly cheesesteak combo with French fries and lemonade ($15.49), five wings with one waffle ($13.49), and a carrot cake slice ($4). - The fried chicken wings were alright for your typical fast food chicken. - Waffle was decent: it was soft & fluffy. - The combo over rice was solid, and I liked the chicken the most. - Philly cheesesteak was okay and would've been even better if it had provolone instead of the cheese whiz. - French fries were solid: they were crispy with some seasoning on them. - The house-made lemonade was alright, and I would be open to getting it again. - The carrot cake isn't anything crazy, it's alright, but I do appreciate the $4 price tag cause others would charge double or more for a slice. Overall, the spot does a good job with fair pricing, fast comfort food, and reliable hours. I'd come back and recommend.

Somehow, I had only been to this place during the winter time, but it is a completely different vibe during the warmer months. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. Our waitress, Lydia, exhibit attentive and efficient service the entire night. She helped us with the menu, checked on us throughout the night, and refilled our drinks. She did this while serving the entire place. I would describe the service as empathetic and refreshing. Food: The wings here are really good. They are sizable and they don't hold back on the sauce. The skin is crispy and the wings are properly seasoned and cooked. We also got the burger. It was good, but slightly over cooked from the "medium" I requested. The pizza was very good and cheesey. It almost tasted homemade (in a good way). I'd get it again. Ambiance: It's a local bar with plenty of TVs to enjoy the game. It's a bar crowd, so expect some yelling and music, which fits the atmosphere. I like the decor, and the place smelled clean. I'd definitely come here to watch the game and have some wings.

It's tucked away in an industrial area off Route 50, and unless you're looking for it, you'd probably never know it was there. We had a party of 12, and almost everyone in our group was visually impaired, including my mom. Dining out with a group like ours can sometimes be challenging, but the staff did a really nice job. As the only one at the table with 20/20 vision, I can honestly say they took the time to explain the menu, answer questions about the food and drinks, announce themselves when they approached the table, and help everyone through the payment process. Those extra touches meant a lot and made everyone feel comfortable. I ordered the wings and a drink, and my mom had wings, a salad, and a drink. Everything was fresh, the wings were cooked well, the drinks were good, and the portions were generous for the price. The restaurant itself has a cozy, laid-back neighborhood feel. It isn't a fancy place, but it's clean, comfortable, and somewhere I'd happily come back to. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because of the service at the end of our meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but apparently his shift ended as soon as he took our orders. The manager and bartender stepped in and did the best they could, but with a large group that was mostly visually impaired, it made things a little more confusing than they needed to be, especially when it came time to sort out everyone's food and separate checks. No one was rude, and they worked hard to make it right, but I think management could have handled that transition a little better. Overall, I had a great experience. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and I really appreciated how welcoming the staff was to our group. I'd definitely come back, and I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.
