This place is convenient and price is reasonable. I recently ordered bacon, potatoes and eggs platter. The food was basic . Potatoes had no season both potatoes and eggs were dry. I will not be purchasing from here again, the lady who takes orders is not friendly at all, the man who owns the restaurant is nice. A nice breakfast spot that give you a good amount for a low price, but unfortunately the taste isn't as good as the convenient portions. I got the sausage with 2 eggs option which comes with grits, potatoes and 2 pieces of toast for about $10. The grits had no flavor at all and the potatoes were ok. The toast has jelly already on it, but they didn't put much on it. Parking is difficult because it's on a street that has a decent amount of traffic. This place is divey (I mean REAL divey) but they whip up a mean and hearty breakfast. With so many delicious breakfast staples on the menu, it was kinda hard to choose. I decided on the Waffle Plate: a Belgian waffle, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and scrambled eggs and cheese and it was great! Everything was cooked to order, just the way I wanted it, and the wait wasn't long at all despite there being a few customers ahead of me. I have passed by this place several times and never thought anything of it. Until, that is, I was craving french toast. Decided to brave the DC summer heat and walk over. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant when I arrived so I was able to order right away. I ordered french toast (that craving was strong, let me tell you), turkey bacon, and home fries. My total came out to just over $10 which I thought was very reasonable for all I ordered. The restaurant itself is what some would describe as a "hole in the wall." It definitely looks a little run down, but I find the best food comes from these types of places. There are 4 tables with 4 chairs each inside, but they pack everything in to go containers. It seemed like a very small operation, as only two people were there: one taking orders, one cooking. When I got home and looked at my order I was blown away! The portion sizes were huge! Massive! The french toast came with SIX pieces, there was about the same amount of bacon, and the home fries were loaded to the top. Everything was delicious, and I could only eat about half in one sitting. Essentially, two meals for $10! There's nothing to complain about here! One suggestion, call to order ahead. It did take them a little bit of time to cook up everything. He greeted me and was very friendly. I ordered the waffle, bacon, eggs with cheese, and grits. The waffle was amazing and very fluffy. The eggs were scrambled amazingly and I had a good amount of bacon. The grits were the bomb, my family is from the south so I know good grits. The food is made upon order which is great because it's prepared when you arrive; comes hot and ready. The food is good so they get stars for that. Today was my first day ordering for delivery and we placed our order at 11:30am. We work at a school so we asked how long it would take (teachers barely have time to use the restroom, let alone eat!). We were told it would take 30 minutes. It is now 12:49pm and still no food. That's unacceptable. We had to call back and the guy rudely answered the phone, said it was on the way and then hung up before anything else could be said. I love this place but I think we will find a different option from now on. *Update: 1:40pm and still no food. The guy called and called but got no answer so he left. Sir... we work in a school. Brookland Grill keeps me alive. I was in there three days in a row this week, and it may be my favorite place in my neighborhood. I don't often feel like I get a good deal in DC when I eat, but I do when I eat here! I was first enticed to visit when I walked past and saw ice cream cases with thirty flavors of ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream? Since there are no bakeries or sweet stops near me, this was great news. Sadly, it is Hershey's ice cream, which is not so great. I would love to see a better tasting brand but beggars cannot be choosers! I came in for a treat and got a single scoop of cappuccino crunch in a waffle cone ($3.60). The prices are crazy reasonable! I quickly returned for breakfast when my parents came to visit, and it was so yummy that we went back the next morning! The blueberry pancakes ($3.84) and French toast ($3.99) were the all stars. They are huge portions and perfect. There were two jumbo pancakes and 6 slices of French toast. The pancakes were so fluffy too!! I have had very few better of either. We also enjoyed bacon, egg, and cheese and sausage, egg, and cheese croissants ($4.59). They were more standard but with good bacon and sausage. The only pretty normal thing was the cheese omelette ($6.99), which came with toast, potatoes, and grits. It was normal diner food, in comparison to the other things. I really don't care for anything I have tried from the lunch menu, and I stick to ordering breakfast, ice cream, and smoothies from here. All of these items are a steal of a price and delicious. I LOVE the pulled pork sandwich topped with sole slaw. Mouth watering as I type. This has become my favorite lunch spot. They also have a great breakfast, but I am not much of a morning eater. I read reviews about the breakfast being pretty tasty, but it was late afternoon, we were in the neighborhood and wanted burgers. Both the bacon cheeseburger, and chili cheeseburger were huge, juicy, flavorful, and cooked per our request. The pricing is really amazing given the size, freshness and quality of the ground beef. It's likely that prices are so reasonable because money IS NOT being spent on ambiance or decor. I really liked the fact that it's an open kitchen, and you can watch your food being prepared.
