Biscuits and gravy, home fries, and two over easy eggs for $8.79! - A compartmentalized tray contains biscuits with gravy, seasoned home fries, and scrambled eggs, typical of breakfast offerings.

Was in the mood for some biscuits and gravy. Since my favorite Brookland spot Murray & Paul's don't have it on the menu, I decided to give Brookland Grill a shot. Love this classic, greasy old school diner. The staff member working the register was super friendly. Food was delicious and crazy cheap. Please give this neighborhood gem some love so they don't go out of business and get replaced with a damn chain store.

Scrapple Egg and Cheese Sandwich - A sandwich with scrambled eggs and a dark filling, wrapped in aluminum foil, held in front of a window.

He had drove pass this place on many occasions and we were discussing breakfast and boom, we landed on this place. When you walk in, there's a nice crowd and they're busy taking orders and cooking up tasty food. The menu has a ton of options to chose from. Because I'm notoriously greedy, I snagged the scrapple egg & cheese sandwich AND the biscuits and gravy and he had the waffle platter. Everything was delicious, flavorful and reminded you of Sunday breakfast.

A nice breakfast spot that give you a good amount for a low price, but unfortunately the taste isn't as good as the convenient portions. I got the sausage with 2 eggs option which comes with grits, potatoes and 2 pieces of toast for about $10. The grits had no flavor at all and the potatoes were ok. The toast has jelly already on it, but they didn't put much on it. Parking is difficult because it's on a street that has a decent amount of traffic. You might luck out and get parking right in front or near, but you'll more than likely have to park a a block or two away.

This place is divey (I mean REAL divey) but they whip up a mean and hearty breakfast. With so many delicious breakfast staples on the menu, it was kinda hard to choose. I decided on the Waffle Plate: a Belgian waffle, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and scrambled eggs and cheese and it was great! Everything was cooked to order, just the way I wanted it, and the wait wasn't long at all despite there being a few customers ahead of me. Definitely coming back to try out the rest of this menu.

French toast, turkey bacon, and homefries. Huge portions! All delicious!

I have passed by this place several times and never thought anything of it. Until, that is, I was craving french toast. Decided to brave the DC summer heat and walk over. There wasn't anyone in the restaurant when I arrived so I was able to order right away. I ordered french toast (that craving was strong, let me tell you), turkey bacon, and home fries. My total came out to just over $10 which I thought was very reasonable for all I ordered. The restaurant itself is what some would describe as a "hole in the wall." It definitely looks a little run down, but I find the best food comes from these types of places. There are 4 tables with 4 chairs each inside, but they pack everything in to go containers. It seemed like a very small operation, as only two people were there: one taking orders, one cooking. When I got home and looked at my order I was blown away! The portion sizes were huge! Massive! The french toast came with SIX pieces, there was about the same amount of bacon, and the home fries were loaded to the top. Everything was delicious, and I could only eat about half in one sitting. Essentially, two meals for $10! There's nothing to complain about here! One suggestion, call to order ahead. It did take them a little bit of time to cook up everything. Very fresh, but if you're working on your patience, do yourself a favor and just call beforehand.

Great spot for cheap eats. Ordered the French toast which was very nice in flavor. They also gave me a bunch of Turkey bacon which was also good. Overall great amount of food for the right price

What an AMAZING Breakfast spot! I've lived in this neighborhood for YEARS and they never disappoint. The OBAMA Breakfast is bar FAR the best BANG for your buck. Home Fries Grits 2 Eggs 3 Pork Bacon Strips 2 Sausage links Ham AND Toast with butter and jelly for $8.95!!! That's right $8.95!!!!!!! Food taste DELICIOUS! Eggs are cooked JUST right. Bacon is AMAZING. Grits with butter taste great. Home Fries are just as good. You can't go wrong ordering this meal. Service is GREAT!! I don't know what that one guy who wrote a bad review is talking about. They ALWAYS greet you when you get to the front of the line with a "How are you doing, How can I help you". I'm to the point now the owner remembers my order. Aside from breakfast I also recommend the Triple Decker Club sandwich for lunch. Three layers of delicious turkey, ham and bacon. You can also get the double decker or single decker as well. All in All, I HIGHLY recommend Brookland Grill.

For starters, I couldn't decide between the honey butter chicken biscuits, jalapeño cornbread, or the calamari... and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. For the main course, I went with the barramundi (catch of the day) and it was absolutely perfect, though the BBQ pork ribs and 12oz black angus New York strip with fries also looked amazing. Dessert is not to be missed--the bread pudding is a must-try. And the cocktails? The cherry blossom martini, Fleur de Lis, and espresso martini all hit the spot This place is perfect for a cozy Sunday dinner, a night out, or just because. I can't wait to come back--highly recommend bringing someone special or your crew for an unforgettable meal!

It's packed and loud inside BUT don't let the smoke and mirrors fool you. The food is overcooked and lacks season. My advice save your hard earned money this place and their food TERRIBLE. Parents anytime a kids says, "these chicken fingers don't taste like anything", and then I try them and it taste like chicken no seasoning just fried chicken with absolutely nothing. I hate to say this but it's the worse tasting food I've had in years.

Fuddruckers - Traditional "create your combo" menu

The "classic" Fuddruckers is upstairs. They have Burger Bar by Fuddruckers on the main level (for guests 21+ only). We were feeling nostalgic and opted for the classic experience. We stopped by before a concert at Capital One Arena, so it was busier than usual. You order at the register and then seat yourself. There was a winding line, but it moved quickly. There was definitely some sticker shock at first - most of the items average to about $24-$25, which is pretty high for a "fast casual" spot. The exotic burgers were $27. These are stadium food prices outside of the stadium... I can pay the same price or less for a burger at a nice sit-down spot. To lessen the blow, the prices are for combo meals, which include a drink and fries. The drink is almost necessary to kill time. Aside from the price, my biggest knock is that kitchen service is sloooooow. We waited over 20 minutes for our food, others waited 30. They take your name down when you order at the register, and then they will call it over the PA system when it's ready. Order pick-up announcements seemed far and few between. People started crowding around the pick-up window, waiting for their orders to come out, because everyone was getting antsy. "Fast food" this is not. Granted, the place was busy and filled with fellow concert-goers, but there is a sign on their menu board that basically says everything is made fresh-cooked to order, so take a seat, enjoy your drink, and be patient! (I'm paraphrasing, but it's essentially a disclaimer saying, "We're slow, but don't say we didn't warn you.") This tells me the slowness is pretty commonplace. They have a Coke Freestyle machine (the touchscreen soda machine with a bunch of different flavor combinations), but I found the flavors to be weak. I think the ratios of syrup inside the machine are off. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak combo ($20) with tots. Annoyingly, they made my order wrong and served me the standard potato wedges instead. Since we waited so long for our orders, I didn't press the issue. They have a toppings bar where you can add lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, pico de gallo, banana peppers, etc. There's also a condiment station, but the piece de resistance is the nacho cheese machine! The melty cheese machine, offering both nacho cheese and jalapeño nacho cheese, is a game-changer. The fries already come seasoned (some are more salty and seasoned than others), but since they are the meaty potato wedge cut, you need some extra dipping sauce. Sure, there's ketchup available, but dispensing a warm blanket of nacho cheese over your fries is where it's at. The nacho cheese was great for dipping my sandwich and all the fries in. Yum, yum, yum! No major complaints about my Philly Cheesesteak. It was pretty standard- soft bread, shaved meat (not too greasy but a little on the dry side), cheese, grilled onions. Food was hot and fresh, but I wouldn't say it's worth the wait. I do think portion size is commensurate with what you're paying. My friend ordered the Ribeye sandwich and it was just as good as he remembered it. There was limited seating available, but we were able to snag seats at a table with another group. Staff did bus tables quickly to allow new diners to get seated. Tables also had paper towel rolls as the napkins. Some were a little grimy on top from condiment spills, etc., but that's more on fellow customers than the restaurant. Overall, I would say the food is overpriced for the quality, and while the nacho cheese is its saving grace, the wait for food was too off-putting for me.

We should have gone to get chinese in chinatown across the street. The bar on the first floor was roped off and empty, even though all the televisions were on. A very kind, sweet employee yelled down the steps at us, to help us find the elevator to dining upstairs. It brings you out in the pass, which I thought was odd, but I do like being able to see behind the scenes. All the machines were broken. No fun soda, no cheese sauce... the "toppings bar" was open, but fairly useless since my burger came with lettuce, Onions, avocado, salsa and cheese, and was completely raw. I'm all for rare beef but this was a bad texture. Jeremy's two burgers were also raw and while he was hungry enough to plow through his first burger (something with an egg on it), once I started dismantling mine and explaining why, he didn't want much of the second... we threw away so much food and I absolutely hate that. The onion rings were decent. Jeremy got Tater tots of which he did not eat many and I didn't try them. Perhaps if there had been cheese sauce available we could have topped them better. So the whole experience was a bust. And the dining room was empty except for a table of people discussing not wanting to be the side piece. The view out the floor to ceiling windows was the best part. You could put something fabulous in that space. Fuddruckers doesn't deserve that view.

We ordered wings, egg-rolls, and a quesadilla. The wings came out first. The hot honey is just ok, not really hot. The egg rolls came out next and they were pretty good. The quesadilla took forever... we assume they probably forgot it. It was poorly put together and did not come with sour cream or pico as advertised. When I went to order another drink I was told happy hour was over at 8. The menu states 9:30p. At that point we were over it. The menu also states they don't split checks and they have politely tipped themselves 20%... they did at least allow the two of us to split. The atmosphere was ok, music was cool mostly R&B... they also have hookah but if you prefer to roll up and smoke, you are welcome to do that right at your table as well. What I think was the owner walked through several times but didn't seem to customer service focused bc he never spoke. One of the employees got pizza from across the street and ate it at one of the tables... looked pretty good. Might be worth trying.
